The study aimed to identify teachers’ view on the curriculum for the aspects of its objectives, learning experiences, organization of learning experiences and learning assessment. A four Likert scale questionnaire was built and used in the study. A total of 92 respondents from 58 primary schools were involved comprising of 44 males and 48 females teachers. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 20.0. The results of the study showed that teachers’ level of agreement on the curriculum was high for the aspect of objectives (mean score 3.396, SD 0.296); learning experiences (mean score 3.391, SD 0.286); organization of learning experiences (mean score of 3.452, SD 0.241); and learning assessment (mean score 3.376, SD 0.281). Analysis of t-test found that there was no significant difference at p ≤ .05 for teachers’ level of agreement between male teachers and female teachers for the mentioned aspects. Remark from this study is that; document standard of curriculum for KSSR Mathematics level 1 in Malaysian primary school is said to be suitable from teachers’ perspective. AbstractSignificant others provide individuals with a sense of safety and security. However, the mechanisms that underlie attachment-induced safety are hardly understood. Recent research has shown beneficial effects when viewing pictures of the romantic partner, leading to reduced pain experience and defensive responding. Building upon this, we examined the inhibitory capacity of loved face pictures on fear learning in an instructed threat paradigm. Pictures of loved familiar or unknown individuals served as signals for either threat of electric shocks or safety, while a broad set of psychophysiological measures was recorded. We assumed that a long-term learning history of beneficial relations interferes with social threat learning. Nevertheless, results yielded a typical pattern of physiological defense activation towards threat cues, regardless of whether threat was signaled by an unknown or a loved face. These findings call into question the notion that pictures of loved individuals are shielded against becoming threat cues, with implications for attachment and trauma research.

This article focuses on how history as a concept is understood by first-year BA Education students. Students were asked to respond to the following questions: ‘what is history?’, ‘what is history to you?’ and ‘who writes history?’ Verbal and written consent was obtained from the students to participate in the study. Their answers demonstrated a concept of history that is imbued with a spatial and temporal as well as ideological and moral position. This article argues that, through the data, it seems that for these students the concept of history emerges as an object that is given a moral value, rather than history being seen as having value as a knowledge or skill set. I draw parallels between my findings and Donovan and Bransford’s work on how history is learnt by primary school students in the United States. There are clear similarities between the primary school understandings recorded in Donovan and Bransford, and first-year university understandings that emerged in the data of this study. This article argues that if history is understood as moral, as ‘good’ or ‘bad’, critical thinking and analytic skills which learning history can imbue are vastly diminished. Furthermore, this article uses Lauren Berlant’s concept of ‘cruel optimism’ to consider the implications of how the participating students understand what history is.
