<p><span lang="EN-US">Human is a social creature who needs to link and to communicate with each other. The potential relationship of individuals who speak more than one language lead to a bilingual community. Speakers who have been exposed to two languages sometimes switch code within a domain or a social situation. Today it is very common for some authors to use two different languages in their master piece, in form of novels or other pop culture. Some authors recently throw their readers to the deep story by using two languages where they switch from one language to another. The purpose of this research aims to identify the types of code-switching found in The Naked Traveler Novel written by Trinity as well as to define the most dominant type of code-switching found in The Naked Traveler Novel written by Trinity. The researcher used the theory of Romaine in Susanto (2008) that is classified into three types of code-switching, there are inter-sentential code-switching, intra-sentential switching, and tag switching. The qualitative descriptive method used in collecting and analyzing the data. From the result, it is found that there are 3 inter-sentential code switching with 12%, 22 intra-sentential type of code switching with 88%, and zero found for tag switching.</span></p>

Abstract. This study analyzed the code-switching used in Fathia Izzati's YouTube videos channel according to the types and their functions. This study used a qualitative descriptive method since the research object is obtained from the internet or computer-based. The researchers used content analysis to get information based on research objectives. In collecting the data, the researchers analyzed the data through some steps, and they were: watching the videos, making transcription from the videos, identifying and classifying the utterances. As a result, from Fathia Izzati's videos, this study found three types of code-switching: inter-sentential switching, intra-sentential switching, and tag-switching. The speaker used two languages, namely Indonesian and English, during the vlog shooting process. The dominant type of code-switching that the speaker used is intra-sentential switching. Then, from the seven functions, this study found six functions the speakers did the code change. They were participant, solidarity, topic switch, switching for affective functions, metaphorical switching, and lexical borrowing.Keywords: bilingualism, sociolinguistics, code-switching, and video-blogging.Abstrak. Penelitian ini menganalisis alih kode yang digunakan dalam video di saluran YouTube Fathia Izzati berdasarkan jenis dan fungsinya. Penelitian ini dilakukan melalui metode kualitatif deskriptif, karena objek pada penelitian ini diambil dari internet atau bersumber dari komputer. Peneliti menggunakan analisis konten untuk menemukan informasi yang tepat sesuai dengan pertanyaan dalam penelitian ini. Dalam mengumpulkan data, peneliti menganalisis data melalui beberapa langkah, yaitu menonton dan mendengarkan video, membuat transkripsi dari video, mengidentifikasi dan mengklasifikasikan ucapan Fathia Izzati. Hasilnya, dari video-video Fathia Izzati, penelitian ini menemukan bahwa terdapat tiga tipe code-switching, di antaranya adalah inter-sentential switching, intra-sentential switching, dan tag-switching. Jadi pembicara menggunakan dua bahasa yaitu bahasa Indonesia dan bInggris selama proses syuting vlog. Jenis alih kode yang paling dominan adalah intra-sentential switching. Peneliti menemukan bahwa dari tujuh fungsi yang ada, ditemuakan enam fungsi alih kode yang dilakukan pembicara, yaitu partisipan, solidaritas, pergantian topik, peralihan karena fungsi afektif, alih kode metaforis, dan kata pinjaman.Kata kunci: bilingualisme, sosiolinguistik, alih kode, video-blogging

The purpose of this research was to know the social relationship through Sorokin's theory. This research was done through a film titled Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them which was released in 2016 ago. The data was taken from the utterance of character dialogue through documentation, the process of watching, and post watches the film. The method of research used a qualitative descriptive method. The results of this study indicated that: (1.) Knowing the types of social relationships: Social interaction phenomena, non-social interaction phenomena in the film based on Sorokin’s theory, (2.) Getting 7 data about a social relationship were: three data about social interaction phenomena conceptual social interaction phenomena by a human in friendship, social interaction phenomenon by a human in ethnic, social interaction phenomenon in helping the economy, (3.) Obtained seven data also for sub-chapter cause and effect using Tsapeli's theory as it was basic theory

This study aims to describe code switching in classroom communication from the sociolinguistic point of view. The research subjects comprised 12 English teachers in senior high schools in the Province of Yogyakarta Special Territory. The data were code switching utterances from English to Indonesian and vice versa in English language learning in the classroom. The data were analyzed using the qualitative descriptive method. The findings show that code switching has three functions, i.e. (a) material delivery, (b) classroommanagement, and (3) discourse markers. With reference to such functions, code switching in English language learning can be made as far as it satisfies academic functions. As the students’ English mastery improves, the use of code switching needs to be reduced.

It is a fact that language is dynamic, and nothing can not stop it from changing. This dynamism has implications for the use of various languages among Indonesians. The youth mostly uses it because they are active and massive users of technology and social media. This research aims to describe the form and character of the linguistic variation of slang which is popularly used by the millennial generation. In this study, data is taken from social media, and direct informants then analyzed using a qualitative descriptive method. The results showed that four types of linguistic variation of slang which is popularly used by the millennial generation such phonology (32,29%), morphology (22,92%), syntax (4,17%), and semantics aspect (40, 63%). Based on the results, the millennial generation’s most dominant type of semantics aspect with 39 data (40, 63%). It means that millennials preferred using more slang utterances modified in semantic elements. Millennials did not completely change or create many new meanings. They retained the meanings of existing references only in the forms of new terms.

Indonesian people in the conversation using English in many ways, such as face to face and social media. The purpose of this research is to identify students' online interactive communication in their blog's comment. It focuses among students as Indonesian EFL students in Morphology class in Universitas Lancang Kuning (Unilak). This study also eager to know what type of language function and phase of knowledge construction on students blogging activities on selected IT platform classroom, i.e. Morphology course. The method employ in this research is a qualitative descriptive method. This study did take the comments' blog of all students in Morphology class. Then This study analyzed those comments. The result of this research, students, showing some dominant type in Knowledge Construction, i.e., Sharing and Comparing of opinion in Blog The present study also reveals the use of Expressing and Supporting Opinions as the dominant types in Language Function.

This research aimed at elaborating the variety of code-switching and code-mixing used in radio broadcast in East Kalimantan. This research used qualitative descriptive method and applied sociolinguistics study. In the analysis, the researcher employed Poplack and Muysken theory. Data sources were collected from radio broadcast in three radio stations representing three largest cities in East Kalimantan, such as Samarinda, Balikpapan, and Tenggarong. The type of data were conversation that appeared within the Pilihan Pendengar program from each of three stations: Gemaya 104.5 FM (Balikpapan), RB Radio 87.7 FM (Samarinda) and SBK 107.3 FM (Tenggarong).  The research finds that there are varieties of code-switching, including: intra-sentential (40 data), inter-sentential (19 data) and extra-sentential (9 data). For code-mixing, this research finds three variants, which are alternation (24 data), insertion (14 data) and congruent lexicalization (8 data). The data are obtained from different languages, such as Indonesian, Javanese, Kutainese, English and Arabic.

The purpose of this study to determine the relationship of mathematical resilience to students problem solving abilities. This research was conducted in MTs Negeri Kota Cimahi class VIII-I even semester in academic year 2017-2018. The method used is qualitative descriptive method. Population taken is all students of class VIII MTs Negeri Kota Cimahi. Sampling using purposive sampling technique, which is a determination and sampling technique determined by the researchers with certain considerations. The sample consists of 34 students. Circle material used in research. Research instrument as many as 5 items about problem solving and resilience statement scale as many as 40 statement. The conclusion gained is that there are difficulties experienced by students in solving problem solving problem and there is correlation between mathematical resiliency to student problem solving ability equal to 0,649.

<p><strong>Abstract: </strong>This study aims to determine: (1) The type of code-switching and code-mixing used, (2) The function of code-switching and code-mixing used by teachers and students, (3) The reason teachers and students use code-switching and code-mixing. This research was conducted using a qualitative descriptive method. Data collection in this study was carried out by observation, questionnaire, and interview and then analyzed and describing the results. The results show: (1) The types of code-switching and code-mixing often used are the type of intrasentential code-switching is 50.7%. Furthermore, the type of code-mixing alternation is 46.2%. (2) The code-switching and code-mixing functions used by teachers and students are as easy communication as is 42.5%. (3) Teachers and students use code-switching and code-mixing to facilitate communication in class and understand the material presented by the teacher.</p><p><strong>Keywords: </strong>Code Switching, Code Mixing, EFL Class.<strong></strong></p>

Penelitian ini berjudul “Perilaku Komunikasi Pengguna Media Sosial Tantan Dalam Menjalin Relasi Pertemanan (Studi Pada Mahasiswa Universitas Syiah Kuala Banda Aceh).” Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui interaksi pengguna media sosial tantan dalam menjalin relasi pertemanan, mengetahui tindakan pengguna media sosial tantan dalam menjalin relasi pertemanan, mengetahui hubungan pengguna media sosial tantan dalam menjalin relasi pertemanan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan wawancara terstruktur dalam pengumpulan data. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori mediamorfosis. Dalam pemilihan informan penelitian ini menggunakan metode purposive sampling, sedangkan untuk menganalisis data, menggunakan model analisis data Miles dan Huberman. Hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa perilaku komunikasi pengguna media sosial Tantan dalam menjalin relasi pertemanan yaitu interaksi informan melakukan chatingan dengan pengguna lain, informan memfokuskan chatingan dengan banyak pengguna agar mendapat lebih banyak teman. Tindakan informan dalam media sosial Tantan yaitu informan hanya membagikan foto, like foto dan melihat video yang dibagikan pengguna lain.Hubungan informan dalam media sosial Tantan pada akhirnya hubungan yang terjalin antara informan dan lawan bicaranya merupakan hubungan pertemanan biasa, tidak berlanjut ke tahap perjodohan. This study entitled "The Communication Behavior of Tantan MediaSocial Users in Establishing Friendship (A Case Study on the Students of Syiah Kuala University, Banda Aceh).” This study aims to understand the interaction, action, and the relationship of the users in developing friendship. This study used qualitative descriptive method with a structured interview for the data collection. The theory used in this research is the mediamorphosis theory. The interviewees were chosen using purposive sampling method, and the data were analyzed using model data analysis Miles and Huberman. The research results obtained that communication behavior of the users in developing friendship was through the interviewees interaction with other users; the interviewees focus on chatting with many users in order to get more friends. The interviewees’ actionson Tantan social media were sharing pictures, giving “like” for other pictures and watching videos shared by other Tantan users. The interviewees’ relationship in Tantan social media with the chatting partners were only developed until friendship stage, and did not continue to be lovers

Students living in Medan are quite varied. They come from various parts, especially from outside the province of North Sumatra, Indonesia. Bahasa Indonesia is the only communication tool that is used, if there is a conversation among them. Therefore, the influence of Bahasa Indonesia is very possible for transferring code from the first language (B1) Minangkabau to the second language (B2) Bahasa Indonesia.This article presents several aspects concerning the use of code switching among Minangkabau– Indonesian bilingual students in Medan. This study uses qualitative descriptive method. Data are collected by recording conversations of 30 minutes per day, for 10 days, at several locations in USU. Using Malik’s framework (1994), the factors influencing code switching in communication are analysed. The code switching data are conversations among Minangkabau-Indonesia bilingual students who migrated to Medan. They are fluent in Minangkabau language, and they are members of Imam Bonjol Student Association (IMIB) in USU.
