This research aimed at elaborating the variety of code-switching and code-mixing used in radio broadcast in East Kalimantan. This research used qualitative descriptive method and applied sociolinguistics study. In the analysis, the researcher employed Poplack and Muysken theory. Data sources were collected from radio broadcast in three radio stations representing three largest cities in East Kalimantan, such as Samarinda, Balikpapan, and Tenggarong. The type of data were conversation that appeared within the Pilihan Pendengar program from each of three stations: Gemaya 104.5 FM (Balikpapan), RB Radio 87.7 FM (Samarinda) and SBK 107.3 FM (Tenggarong).  The research finds that there are varieties of code-switching, including: intra-sentential (40 data), inter-sentential (19 data) and extra-sentential (9 data). For code-mixing, this research finds three variants, which are alternation (24 data), insertion (14 data) and congruent lexicalization (8 data). The data are obtained from different languages, such as Indonesian, Javanese, Kutainese, English and Arabic.

This study aims to describe the form of code switching and code mixing used in Indonesian language learning at SMP N 01 Limpung, Batang Regency. This research is included in qualitative descriptive. Data processing that examines code switching and code mixing is thus the data in this study in the form of oral data, namely, speech code switching and code mixing that exist in Indonesian language learning. The data sources came from Indonesian language students and teachers at SMP N 01 Limpung. Data collection techniques in this study used the observation and note technique. The first step, the researcher listens to the use of language in Indonesian language learning. Furthermore, the researcher recorded the speech data including code switching and code mixing. The results showed that the speech used when learning Indonesian at SMP N 01 Limpung included: (1) code switching from Indonesian to Javanese and (2) code switching from Javanese to Indonesian. The form of code mixing that occurs in Indonesian language learning is in the form of: (1) the form of code mixing in the form of word insertion, (2) code mixing in the form of phrases

<p><strong>Abstract: </strong>This study aims to determine: (1) The type of code-switching and code-mixing used, (2) The function of code-switching and code-mixing used by teachers and students, (3) The reason teachers and students use code-switching and code-mixing. This research was conducted using a qualitative descriptive method. Data collection in this study was carried out by observation, questionnaire, and interview and then analyzed and describing the results. The results show: (1) The types of code-switching and code-mixing often used are the type of intrasentential code-switching is 50.7%. Furthermore, the type of code-mixing alternation is 46.2%. (2) The code-switching and code-mixing functions used by teachers and students are as easy communication as is 42.5%. (3) Teachers and students use code-switching and code-mixing to facilitate communication in class and understand the material presented by the teacher.</p><p><strong>Keywords: </strong>Code Switching, Code Mixing, EFL Class.<strong></strong></p>

<p>The research aims to find out types of code-switching and code-mixing, the functions of code-switching and code-mixing in the English teaching-learning process. The method of this research is a qualitative descriptive method. The data source is English teachers’ utterances in teaching English as a foreign language, the teacher’s language of instructions. The results of the research are: 1) the students and teachers used code-switching and code-mixing in the process of communication in the classroom; 2) in code-switching, they used inter- sentential, intra- sentential, and tag switching; 3) in code-mixing, they used alternation and insertion; 4) the functions of code-switching include reiteration, message qualification, personalization, referential, and poetic; 5) the function of code-mixing is to draw students’ attention in learning. The findings imply that code-switching and code-mixing are necessary to facilitate learning.</p>

People capable of speaking and writing two languages well are called bilingual. In contrast, the people who use two words or even in a sentence without paraphrase mean code-mixing. The purpose of this study is to know the types of code-switching and code-mixing. Code-switching and code-mixing are parts of sociolinguistics. Sociolinguistics studies an analysis of language. The linguistic factors are related to the factors beyond the language, such as language use done by its speakers in a particular speech community. Code-switching and code-mixing usually happened when talking to someone. The source of the research was the talk show Catatan Najwa with Maudy Ayunda on Najwa Shihab’s Channel Youtube. In this talk show, there was a guest star called Maudy Ayunda. She has just recently graduated from Oxford University and had a conversation with Najwa Shihab. The conversation happened on Najwa Shibah’s Youtube Channel. In this conversation, they used two languages that are Indonesian and English. This research used the qualitative descriptive method. To complete the data, The researcher also conducted library research. This study focused on video Najwa Shihab’s Channel Youtube. The research results are Inter-Sentential with 9 data as the code-switching type and Insertion with 7 data as the code-mixing type.

Sosiolinguistik memberikan pengetahuan tentang code switching (campur kode). Analisis teks novel untuk memahami penggunaan campur kode penutur dapat dilaksanakan untuk pengembangan ilmu sosiologi bahasa. Metode deskriptif kualitatif dalam menganalisis temuan dan mengklasifikasikan pencampuran kode dari Novel Andre Herata Sang Pemimpi. Analisis data berfokus pada kalimat dan paragraf yang menunjukkan penggunaan pencampuran kode di dalamnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada satu jenis pencampuran kode yang ditemukan dalam novel Sang Pemimpi yaitu pencampuran kode luar (bahasa Indonesia dan Inggris) yang kemunculannya ada dalam bentuk kata, frasa, dan penyisipan klausa. Penggunaan dan jenis-jenis pencampuran kode yang ada dalam novel Sang Pemimpi karya Andrea Hirata meyangkut pencampuran kode; pada pencampuran berbagai unit linguistik, seperti morfem, kata-kata, pengubah, frasa, klausa dan kalimat, terutama yang berasal dari dua sistem tata bahasa yang berpartisipasi dalam sebuah kalimat. Dapat disimpulkan narator menggunakan pencampuran kode dari Bahasa Indonesia, Bahasa Melayu, dan pencampuran kode luar dari Bahasa Inggris; punchbag, sprinter, fan, session, speaker, shock, slide dan Bahasa Arab. Abstract. Sociolinguistics gave knowledge of the switching codes. Text analysis of novels for understanding the interdiction of interpreting codes can be performed for the development of language sociology. The qualitative descriptive method of analyzing the find and classifying the code mixing of the novel Andre herata Sang pemimpi. Data analysis focuses on sentences and paragraphs that indicate the use of a code mixing in them. Studies have shown that one type of mixing code found in the Sang pemimpi novel is that it includes a mixture of outside codes (Indonesian and English) that appears in the form of words, phrases, and insertion of klausa. The use and kinds of coded blending in the book of Sang pemimpi Andrea hirata passes the mixing of codes; In the mixing of various linguistic units, such as morpheme, words, modifiers, phrases, clauses and sentences, especially those that come from the two grammatical systems that participate in a sentence. It could be inferred that the narrator used a code mixing from Indonesian, Malay, and a proprietary blend of English; punchbag, sprinter, fan, session, speaker, shock, slide dan Arabic.

This study aims to examine the problems of form, type, purposeand factors that cause the process of code switching and code mixing inthe daily conversations of lecturers and staff at the Faculty of Sharia andIslamic Economics. This type of research is qualitative descriptive research.Data collection in this study uses skillful listening techniques while dataanalysis uses extralingual equivalent methods. The research location wasat the Faculty of Sharia and Islamic Economics IAIN Mataram. While theobject of research is daily conversation at the Faculty of Sharia and IslamicEconomics IAIN Mataram. The results of the findings of this study are theform of code switching and code mixing found in the form of words, phrasesand clauses. The type of code transfer that is found is internal code switching(inner code-switch) and the type of code mixing found in the form of mixingcode into (inner mixing-code). While the purpose of code switching is foundin the form of: affirmation, debilitating, certainty, curiosity, explanation,quips, suggestions, offers and notifications. The purpose of the code mixwas found in the form of: respect, affirmation, ambiguity, wonder, specific,anger, culture, information, curiosity, prohibition and appeal. Factors thatcause code switching are: opposed to speaking and the presence of thirdspeakers. While the causes of interfering code are: desire factors to explain,variety identification factors and role identification factors.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the implementation of smart governance and the strengthening of city resources in order to support Smart Governance in the city of Balikpapan. This research adopts qualitative descriptive method using interview and observation techniques, and data were then analyzed. Results found that the application of smart governance in the city of Balikpapan was not yet well implemented so it was necessary to strengthen local government resources that include institutions, budgets, and IT (information technology) tools, in the dimensions of local government, and increase community participation and community use for the application in the community dimension.

Tulisan ini membahas citra perempuan Banten dalam cerpen yang dimuat di harian Radar Banten dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Budaya Banten melatarbelakangi para cerpenis dalam melukiskan perempuan Banten. Para penulis dapat memotret sebagian kehidupan para perempuan tersebut melalui tokoh-tokoh rekaan yang diciptakan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengkaji citra perempuan Banten melalui deskripsi para cerpenis dalam harian Radar Banten. Sumber data utama berasal dari empat belas cerpen yang dimuat tahun 2006—2010. Setelah analisis data melalui teori feminisme, diketahui bahwa citra perempuan Banten dalam cerpen tersebut adalah perempuan sebagai sosok pemimpin pemerintahan, penulis, perempuan berkekuatan magis, pemegang norma, pekerja keras, penyabar, penyayang, perempuan yang agamis, dan perempuan metropolis.Abstract:This paper discusses the image of Banten women in short stories published in Radar Banten. It  uses a qualitative descriptive method. Banten’s  cultural background depicts women in Banten. The writers of short story can capture some of the women’s real life through fiction’s characters. The purpose of this study is to examine the image of women through the description of the short story’s writers in Radar Banten. The main data sources were taken from fourteen short stories published in 2006—2010. Having analyzed the data using feminism theory, it is found out that the image of women in short stories of Radar Banten is the figure of woman as government leader, writer, woman with magical power, obedient norm woman, hardworking woman, patient and caring woman, religious woman, and  metropolitan woman.

examined is the types and level code-mixing. In types and level code-mixing, researchers used the Suwito theory. As for the types of code-mixing, including inner code-mixing and outer code-mixing, while in code-mixing level consists of six words: word-level code-mixing, phrase-level code-mixing, clause level code, baster level code-mixing, repetition level code-mixing, and code-mixing level idioms. This research design used is qualitative research. Qualitative research, among others, is descriptive. The data is collected more in the form of words or pictures rather than numbers. The qualitative descriptive method is a method that researchers can use to analyze by doing fact-finding with the right interpretation. Qualitative research is closely associated with the context. Based on the results of the analysis from London to Bali, the data was obtained for types of code-mixing consisting of inner code-mixing 115 data, outer code-mixing 46 data, and level code-mixing consisting of word-level code-mixing 145 data, phrase level code-mixing 10 data, code-mixing clause level 4 Data, baster level code-mixing 1 data, repetition level code-mixing 3 data, idiom level code-mixing 0 data.

The study aims to describe code variations and their functions in Islamic Forum (liqo) for women in Ciamis Regency, West Java. Source of data was utterances of murrobbi (speaker) and audiences. This research used a descriptive method. The results are as follows. First, the study found six variations of codes including Arabic, English, Sundanese, Indonesian, code-switching and code-mixing. Second, the research indicates the functions of using those codes including to introduce Arabic terms, to learn Islam through Arabic, to gain prestige, to introduce popular terms, to feel pride, to give familiarity, to show identity, to smooth communication, to maintain Sundanese bond, to unify local language, to quote other sources, to explain speech content, to reiterate the meaning of speech content, and to ease communication. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the two most frequently used codes in Islamic Forum (liqo) for women in Ciamis Regency are Arabic and Indonesian.
