The questionnaire was divided into 2 sections. The first section which is section A, discusses the socio-demographic profile of the respondents. The second part which is section B were in Likert-scale design to obtain the customers’ awareness and attitude in purchasing herbal products. Data that were collected in this study were analysed using a statistical tool which is Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). The Descriptive analysis was used to provide simple summaries of the respondents while the Cross-tab with Chi-Square analysis was chosen to be used to test the statistical independence of the variables. From this study, the variable Age is the only demographic factor that shows a significant relationship towards the customers’ awareness and attitude in purchasing herbal products. ABSTRACT Background  In 2013, milestone ratings became a reporting requirement for emergency medicine (EM) residency programs. Programs rate each resident in the fall and spring on 23 milestone subcompetencies. Objective  This study examined the incidence of straight line scoring (SLS) for EM Milestone ratings, defined as a resident being assessed the same score across the milestone subcompetencies. Methods  This descriptive analysis measured the frequencies of SLS for all Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)–accredited EM programs during the 2015–2016 academic year. Outcomes were the frequency of SLS in the fall and spring milestone assessments, changes in the number of SLS reports, and reporting trends. Chi-square analysis compared nominal variables. Results  There were 6257 residents in the fall and 6588 in the spring. Milestone scores were reported for 6173 EM residents in the fall (99% of 6257) and spring (94% of 6588). In the fall, 93% (5753 residents) did not receive SLS ratings and 420 (7%) did, with no significant difference compared with the spring (5776 [94%] versus 397 [6%]). Subgroup analysis showed higher SLS results for residents' first ratings (183 of 2136 versus 237 of 4220, P < .0001) and for their final ratings (200 of 2019 versus 197 of 4354, P < .0001). Twenty percent of programs submitted 10% or more SLS ratings, and a small percentage submitted more than 50% of ratings as SLS. Conclusions  Most programs did not submit SLS ratings. Because of the statistical improbability of SLS, any SLS ratings reduce the validity assertions of the milestone assessments.

Postharvest losses have been highlighted as one of the determinants in fresh crop production in most developing countries. Losses in agricultural sector in the province of Paktia are largely due to the perishable quality of the produce and ineffective management of post-harvest. Many post-harvest losses are direct result of factors such as harvesting, sorting, grading, packaging, storage, transportation and marketing. Thus, it is important to identify factors related to postharvest losses of apples among the growers in Paktia, Afghanistan. Survey of three districts, namely Gardiz, Ahamdaba, and Saidkaram was conducted with 279 apple growers that were selected using systematic random sampling. Data were collected using structured questionnaires via face to face interview. Data collected were then analyzed using descriptive analysis, chi-square analysis and factor analysis. The finding of descriptive analysis showed that among all the post-harvest activities based on the percentage ranking, all apple growers (100%) were involved in the marketing of apples in search of both direct or indirect channels to sell their produce to reduce the losses. This means in order to reduce apples losses, it is important to find a market for their products. From the Chi-square analysis results, there was a significant association between education level (P=0.046), farm size (P=0.000), farm experience (P=0.019), yield (P=0.000) and post-harvest losses. Moreover, the factor analysis results revealed seven factors that influenced post-harvest losses of apples namely harvesting, sorting, grading, packaging, storage, transportation and marketing. Therefore, establishing proper storages and packaging facilities will reduce apple grower’s losses, and enable easier marketing of their produce in different season throughout the year. Furthermore, sorting and grading will raise the value of apple products for a better marketing. Meanwhile, road transport and transportation system also have a significant impact on distribution of apple products in the study area. Therefore, it can be concluded that road transport and transportation system should be improved in order to reduce the losses of apple production.

Background: Mechanically tenderized beef poses a higher risk for Escherichia coli 0157:H7 infection than intact beef and has been implicated in several outbreaks. As such, all products are mandated to be labeled in Canada. Purpose: This study assessed the effectiveness of mechanically tenderized beef labels on influencing practices of cooking beef in British Columbia. Methods: 74 adults within British Columbia who cooked beef were surveyed electronically using a snowball method. An inferential (Pearson chi-square analysis) and descriptive analysis was performed on the nominal data in PSPP and Microsoft Excel respectively. Results: Only 8% of respondents abided with information on mechanically tenderized beef labels. No statistically significant associations were found between practices of abiding with information on mechanically tenderized beef labels and various socio-demographic factors (e.g. age, gender, education level, and food safety education) (p<0.01). The practice of not using food thermometers was the major contributing factor that lowered the effectiveness of mechanically tenderized beef labels. Conclusion: Mechanically tenderized beef labels were ineffective in influencing behaviours of cooking beef in British Columbia. Therefore, other risk communication strategies are needed to persuade adults in British Columbia to adequately cook mechanically tenderized beef products. Recommendations: Future studies can assess whether the general public is properly cooling mechanically tenderized beef as the label does not address this practice.

Pneumonia is any state of inflamation where some oral of the alveoliare filled with fluid and blood cells. The total of pneumonia in children at year2013 is 15%, is still quite high. In bacterial infections such as pneumonia, usually indicates with increasing number of leukocytes (leukocytosis). Some studies, inverse correlation it with an age. Leukocytosis consists of several types, such as eosinophilia. Significant eosinophilia can occur in newborns and it will decrease constantly at old. Other study said that eosinophilia occur due to several conditions, one of them due to infection and response to foreign antigens. This research used descriptive correlational and crosssectional research method. Materials data sources obtained from patients medical records from 2014 to 2016 with bronchopneumonia at Jemur sari Surabaya Islamic Hospital. This study used chi-square analysis with interpretation p-value0,05 with SPSS version 21. The results obtained 11 patients with eosinophilia, 3 of patients (27,3%) aged 0-12 months, and 8 patients (72,7%) aged 13-59 months. Then in 76 patients with noeosinophilia or normal eosinophiliaor 21 patients (27,6%) aged 0-12 months, and 55 patients (72,4%) aged 13-59 months. The result bivariate analysis of correlation age with eosinophil level of bronchopneumonia patient showed no significant relationship (p-value 0.05). The conclusion of this research there was no signigficant relationship between age and eosinophil level in bronchopneumonia patients aged 0-59 months. Therefore, age can not be an indicator to eosinophils levels during inflamation procesess or other needed indicators that support diagnosis. Keywords: Age, eosinophils, bronchopneumonia
