The optimization of LSP aims to increase employment opportunities, regional economic growth, Own-Source Revenue, as well as re-gional per capita income, and ultimately cut the poverty. To achieve so, the findings from the research are required to determine the LSP of Banggai Regency, set the priority scale from agriculture sectors based on the availability of raw material, market potential, human resource support, uniqueness, and economic contribution. The research used purposive sampling by selecting 15 SMEs sub-jects. The expert group consisted of 3 heads of division in Food Crops Horticulture and Plantation Department and 5 academics from Faculty of Agriculture. The researchers carried out the data collection by conducting in-depth interview to small business owners and FGD on the expert group. The result shows that the superior products of Banggai Regency are rice, corn, cassava, coconut, and banana products. The government should actively encourage the SMEs to prioritize the LSP of the coconut products. In addition, the SMEs empowerment lies in the aspects of human resource, production facilities and utilization of market potential.

Food security in households can be measured by maintaining stability and security in the availability of staple food. Covid-19 has an impact on the agricultural sector and farmers so that it affects their income, and automatically changes the availability of food in their households. The purpose of this study was to find out how Covid-19 had an impact on the food availability of rice farmers' households, and what strategies were used to survive in conditions of uncertainty. This research uses a case study approach in Aceh Province. The results of this study show contradictory responses based on the status of the farmer (agriculture as the main or secondary livelihood), and the availability of access to other sources of income affects how or not Covid-19 affects their lives. This study shows that the cultural factors of farmers who live simply and farmers of food commodities are those who are more resilient than farmers of other commodities and the lower middle class in general. The strategy in question is to sell produce with a larger proportion due to declining selling prices, take food from the harvest and rice barns also receive assistance from the government.

This paper is a continuation of a larger study which assesses hunger in African countries. The purpose of these papers in this is to look at the scope of hunger in countries and then to identify the factors that predict hunger in each individual country. This is the 5th paper in the series and is concerned with hunger in Madagascar, one of Africa’s and the world’s hungriest countries. The paper is important for several reasons. One is the fact that it, like all the country level papers, is based on a national probability sample, something the literature stresses is lacking and needed to improve hunger research. A second is that all the papers in the series, including this one, found that the literature’s suggestion that gender and the rural-urban dimension are significant predictors of hunger. These studies have provided a consistent list of significant hunger predictors. Employment in the country’s agricultural sector, wealth as measured by asset ownership, education and age were consistent significant predictors, .The surprising findings were related to respondent perception of the role of government in addressing hunger, questions like the way the government was handling whether people had enough to eat or addressing the living standards of the poor. The major policy implication of this and earlier papers is that governments need to reach out to citizens, presenting them with their food related plans and assuring them that the government is doing everything within its power to address hunger in their countries.

Indonesia is a country that has enormous market potential in terms of the halal food industry. The government has been attracting foreign food manufacturers to venture into the country's market; this includes snacks from Taiwan, one of them being Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks. The public has been highly critical of Shihlin's food products of late due to doubts about its halal status and compliance with halal standards in manufacturing and supply chain activities. The company responded to the public's concern by obtaining the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) halal certification, increasing prices and affecting consumers' willingness to pay. In the form of a case study, this research aims to analyse the factors that influence Muslim consumers' willingness to pay for Taiwanese snacks in Indonesia, specifically Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks. A total of 326 Indonesian Muslims took part in our survey, which data was analysed using SmartPLS. The study results revealed that animal slaughter, halal logos, price consciousness, food quality, and religious commitment positively influence Muslim consumers' willingness to pay for the snacks. The findings can benefit halal food companies in formulating strategies to guarantee consistent compliance of the halal standards in the manufacturing processes. Besides, we urge halal food regulators to provide better clarity in developing the halal and tayyib food criteria to earn better trust and confidence from Muslim consumers.

The objective of this paper is to review the debate on FDI in retailing and argue that it could be a potent source of both equity and growth for the agricultural sector in India. The research provides supporting evidence to the argument with the case study of PepsiCo that is engaged in both production and distribution in India .The study suggests that the MNCs could be a potent source of technology and knowhow to the Indian farmers. MNCs such as PepsiCo actively collaborate with Indian farmers to promote sustainable farming and efficiency in agriculture. We believe that the government of India should not prohibit FDI in multi-brand retail as it could contribute to growth and development of the country and will not be a threat to indigenous ‘kirana’ shops.

Climate change is an important global environmental threat. Agriculture aggravates climate change by increasing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and in response, climate change reduces agricultural productivity. Consequently, the modern agricultural development mode has progressively transformed into a kind of sustainable development mode. This study aimed to determine the environmental impact and carbon footprint of Dongshan tea from Yilan County. Environmental impact was assessed with use of SimaPro version 8.0.2 and IMPACT2002+. Results showed that climate change has the largest impact upon it in general, followed by human health, natural resources, and ecosystem quality. Furthermore, with use of the IPCC 2007 100a method for carbon footprint of products (CFP), conventional tea was found to have a CFP of 7.035 kgCO2-e, and its main contributors are the raw material (35.15%) and consumer use (45.58%) phases. From this case study, we found that the hotspots of the life cycle of environmental impact of Taiwanese tea mainly come from fertilizer input during the raw material phase, electricity use during manufacturing, and electricity use during water boiling in the consumer use phase (which contributes the largest impact). We propose the ways for consumers to use of highly efficient boiling water facilities and heating preservation, and the government must market the use of organic fertilizers in the national policy subsidies, and farmers have to prudent use of fertilizers and promote the use of local raw fertilizers, and engagement in direct sales for reducing the environmental impacts and costs of agricultural products and thus advancing sustainable agriculture development.

During the last few years, farmer empowerment has been the main agenda of government programs to achieve the agricultural sector revitalization, which focuses more on human resources and farmer institutional development. Further, through the Minister of Agriculture, the government program with a target of establishing 350 farmer corporations by 2024 is a necessity if farmer groups are built with the support of the skilled and market-oriented. The assessment used a qualitative approach that focuses on data related to the assessment problem. Secondary data were obtained from various relevant literature to explore the correlationbetween empirical facts and government programs and regulations. The case study was conducted in October 2019 at Gapoktan Sidomulyo in Godean District, Yogyakarta Province. The results of the study showed that empirically, Gapoktan Sidomulyo is the advanced Farmer Group Association that successfully managed the farmer institution since it was supported by its history of formation and skilled human resources who were always market-oriented. On the other hand, the management of Gapoktan Sidomulyo still did not want to transform the Gapoktan into a legal business entity because it was considered more complicated and did not provide benefits.

Kata Kunci: Pupuk organik cair, biaya produksi, gulma ABSTRACT This service activity aims to provide skills training to reduce production costs and increase the income of mustard farmers through the use of liquid organic fertilizer in Gunung Anyar Tambak Village, Gunung Anyar District, Surabaya City. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the supply of chemical fertilizers stagnated and resulted in increasingly high fertilizer prices. In 2010 the government raised a global discourse to return to nature (back to nature) in the agricultural sector, including natural materials (biological raw materials). For this reason, this activity utilizes weeds found in the intercropping agricultural area. This agricultural area has land for mustard, citrus, and crystal guava plants but partly is a fish pond area with many weeds such as wild kale and rotten fruit. Thus, a liquid organic fertilizer was made by adding EM4 micro-organisms to the raw material, namely weeds. The results show that liquid organic fertilizer can reduce production costs and increase the productivity of mustard greens and other agricultural products. Based on the interview results, it was found that there was an increase in farmers' income by 22% from the use of this liquid organic fertilizer. The output of this activity is a product in the form of liquid organic fertilizer, which is made by the trainees themselves and increases the motivation of the farmers to develop alternative organic fertilizers according to their needs independently. Keywords: Liquid organic fertilizer, production costs, weeds

AbstractAmid the increasing diversification of social development, the services provided by the government hardly satisfy all sorts of needs. The establishment of non-profit organizations (npos) timely addresses the government’s deficiency in handling public affairs. As a result, thenpos almost turn into private enterprises and social enterprises aim to deliver public benefits, which has aroused disputes and doubts like “mission drift” and “for-profits in disguise.” This article adopts Suchman’s pragmatic, moral and cognitive legitimacy analysis to reexamine the work integration social enterprises (WISEs) which enable the disadvantaged or those with disabilities to join in the labor market after training, coaching and professional practice. Based on literature review and in-depth interview, this article makes a case study of CANYOU, an exemplary social enterprise set by persons with disabilities by leveraging advanced technologies.
