Bricks are commonly used for construction of buildings structures. The main objective of this article is to present the case study on different properties of the bricks manufactured in Bhaktapur city. Sample specimens were collected and tested for crushing strength, water absorption, specific gravity, density, porosity, impact test, dimension test, hardness test, soundness test and color appearance test of bricks in the laboratory. The overall aim of this study is to determine, through extensive experimental investigation, the effect of different brick on strength, water absorption, density, hardness, impact, porosity, and crushing strength. After multiple tests, results regarding the properties of bricks included – water absorption varies from 8.80% to 23.93%, porosity varying from 19.28% to 53.99%, specific gravity varying from 2.19 to 4.00, density varying from 1549.77 kg/m3 to 2816.6kg/m3, and crushing strength varying from 7.83 MPa to 22.10 MPa. In hardness test, 15 out of 33 were found to be hard; while 13 out of 33 passed the impact test; and 18 out of 33 has metallic sound. For the good quality of brick, the brick should have bright color appearance but only 15 out of 33 samples carry bright color appearance. Regarding the dimensions, length varies from 212.00 mm to 242.00 mm, breadth varies from 96.00 mm to 115.00 mm and thickness varies from 48.80 mm to 63.00 mm. From this research, properties of almost all bricks are not as per Nepal Building Code. The bricks manufactured at present are being commercialized rather than maintaining the standards as per the code.

The Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) affect­ed almost all activities worldwide. The medical sec­tor was one of those which were most significantly impacted because the medical infrastructure was not sized for such a high scale shock, specialized human resources and medical infrastructure prov­ing to be much undersized and with slow growth potential. Many changes were required, important financial resources being mobilized in order to mo­tivate medical staff, offer treatments for the most severely affected patients, but also to create new fa­cilities where the increasing number of sick persons could be cured. In our research we want to offer a hospital cost perspective based on empirical analysis of the COVID-19 impact on different categories of expens­es made by Romanian hospitals that treated patients with COVID-19 in different stages of their disease. The period analyzed was January 2019 to December 2020 on a monthly basis. Our results showed that expenses with goods and services, drugs, reagents and human resources are influenced by COVID-19 in a significant manner.

The type of electrode used in the SMAW process has many types, such as E 6010, E 6011, E 6012, E 6013, E 6020, E6027. In this case the type E 6013 is the most widely used. Certainly the type E 6013 is produced by different manufacturers as well. From penelurusan researchers of this type have different prices in accordance with companies that sell it. For that reason researchers are interested to compare the three manufacturing outputs for the type E 6013 in terms of its mechanical properties. Making a specimen welding electrode cut material to be used. then sandpaper the material that has been cut so that no remaining pieces are still attached. The next step to do the welding process with three types of E6013 elekroda. The welding is carried out until it reaches the layer layer 10 mm thickness, then the bottom plate is discarded and the weld deposit deposits only The impact strength and surface hardness value are inversely proportional. For the impact test, the E1 electrode sample specimen has the highest impact strength value and the E3 electrode sample specimen has the lowest impact strength value. While on the hardness test specimen E3 electrode sample has the highest hardness value and sample specimen E1 electrode has the lowest hardness value. This can prove that the harder the object is the more brittle the object.

These will have a profound impact on the information technology implementation across the company. For example, the need for analyzing a large amount of data and data in real time was becoming acute among many departments; there was a need for different skillsets in the employees in almost all the departments across the company. These changes across the industry were presenting new and unique challenges to the executive team.

This study about laminated bamboo strip from gigantochloa levis type mixed with epoxy composite. Due to the existence of demand for products that are comfortable, healthy and environmentally friendly, this research has focused on the use of renewable sources that is bamboo. Bamboos are some of fastest growing plant in the world and also have a higher compressive strength than wood, brick or concrete and a tensile strength that rivals steel. Certain species of bamboo can grow 35 inchies within 24 hour period, at a rate of 3 cm/h. That means bamboos can growth of approximately 1 mm every 2 minutes. In this study, the bamboo strip reinforced with epoxy was processed through hand lay-out method. Bamboo strips are combined with epoxy for a total sample thickness of 3 mm. This study is performed using the impact test that is Charpy (ASTM D-6110) and Izod (ASTM D-256) to measure the mechanical properties of energy absorbtion, followed by hardness test (ASTM D-1037). The 0, 60 and 90 degree of laminated bamboo strip epoxy composite with two types of load 7 kg and 14 kg has been tested. It is found that the 0 degree specimen Charpy test give the best value is 4.79 Joule energy absorbtion for 14 kg load. While for the Izod test, the best composition is also 0 degree with 4.51 Joule energy absorbtion for 14 kg load. It is shown that when the degree of bamboo laminate configuration increases, the impact absorbtion decrease. The result also shown that, when the load is increase the impact also increases. It means that got relative significant between bamboo strip configuration and load. The impact properties relate to the loading weight. The hardness test also shown that the laminated bamboo strip for 14 kg load resulting 91 rating, that is more higher than 7 kg load that is 84. It is shown that more loads will result more hardness rating for the laminated bamboo strip.

PurposeResearch was undertaken to understand whether taught resilience programmes which highlight the protective factors of resilience would impact individual resilience outcomes. The research focussed on specific resilience dimensions, change agility, physical, emotional and mental resilience, purpose in life and recovery; in an attempt to bridge the gap in understanding whether it is possible through taught programmes to improve resilience through the creation of new habits.Design/methodology/approachThe research was conducted using interpretative phenomenological analysis methods and used semi-structured interviews with 12 participants to understand participants lived experience of a one-day personal resilience programme, conducted within a private global manufacturing organisation.FindingsThe research found that all 12 participants interviewed 12–18 months post-programme made sustainable habits changes increasing personal resilience levels. Participants built new habits into their everyday lives, in the physical dimension exercising more regularly, taking breaks, changes in nutrition and creating better sleep patterns. Through increased understanding of emotional intelligence participants were able to react more favourably to adverse situations and through mental increased resilience focus achieve work and home priorities. In understanding the change journey participants found that they were able to move more quickly through the change cycle. Almost all participants found understanding their life purpose difficult and were not able to give a conclusive answer to what this might be, they found that attending the programme helped reflection in this dimension.Originality/valueThe paper includes an overview of previous resilience research but differs in its examination of the impact of a specific taught resilience programme in a large private sector organisation using IPA methodology.

The effect of different austempering holding times on the hardness and impact toughness of 0.254% niobium alloyed austempered ductile iron was investigated in this study. Molten ductile iron was prepared in an induction furnace with capacity of 60kg. Samples with dimension of 300m x Ø25mm in form of Y block double cylinder was constituted and solidified samples were then machined in accordance to ASTM E23 for impact test specimens. Samples were ground and polished before Rockwell hardness test was conducted. Austempering heat treatment process with austenitizing temperature of 900°C for 1 hour and austempering temperature of 350°C for 1 hour, 2 hours and 3 hour holding times were then carried out. The results from this research indicated that austempering the sample for 1 hour resulted in significant improvement of the impact toughness values but increasing the austempering holding time deficiently reduced the values. On the contrary, the hardness of niobium alloyed austempered ductile iron continues to increase with respect to longer austempering holding times.

This study was conducted to compare the mechanical properties of fly ash artificial geopolymer aggregates with natural aggregate (rock) in term of its impact strength, specific gravity and water absorption.The raw materials used were fly ash, sodium hydroxide, sodium silicate and natural aggregate. After the artificial geopolymer aggregate has been produced, its water absorption, specific gravity and aggregate impact test has been done. All results obtained were compared to natural aggregate. The result shows that the fly ash geopolymer aggregate are lighter than natural aggregate in term of its specific gravity. The impact value for fly ash artificial geopolymer aggregate slightly high compared to natural aggregate while it has high water absorption value compared to natural aggregate. As conclusion, the fly ash artificial geopolymer aggregate can be used as one of the construction materials in concrete as an alternative for coarse aggregate besides natural aggregate with more lightweight properties.

Purpose: The purpose of the study is to give an analysis of the humanitarian situation and the case of human rights in Syria after the events of the Arab spring. Methodology: This is analytical-descriptive research that has been done through literature review, content analysis, and documentary and case study research. Result: our results suggest that the Syrian government made false concessions designed to end the revolts. The occurrence led to the formation of a rebel group, the Free Syrian Army whose main objective was to oust the authoritarian regime and stop the killing of civilians. This marked the beginning of the blatant violation of human rights as well as the civil war in Syria. The government not only ignited but also took the war to its own people killing, injuring and imprisoning thousands of people. Worse still, thousands of women and young girls still suffer sexual violence during the nightly raids conducted frequently on either opposing camps. Following the massive violations of human rights, almost all economic sectors of Syria have met rock-bottom. Applications: This research can be used for policymakers and the international community to take a further step to aid the Syrian civilians. Novelty/Originality: In our research, we try to target a very much debated topic in the Middle East. Although several articles written about the humanitarian and human rights situation in Syria studies on human rights after the Arab spring is still lacking.

Welding technology is used because besides being easy to use, it can also reduce costs so it is cheaper. Especially for welding repair. From the welding repair the extent to which the strength of GMAW welds can repair components from the molded plastic mold room made of AISI 420 stainless steel. Repair of the print room components using deposit welding is tested using tensile strength and hardness as realization of resistance when holding the rate of liquid plastic entering the print room by 25 to 40 MPa, depending on the plastic viscosity, the precision of the mold and the filling level of the print room. Deposition welding method as a welding repair can affect a procedure to be able to produce a component that is safe and capable of being used in accordance with the provisions. The welding process used is reverse polarity GMAW DC with 125 A current and ER 70 S welding wire diameter 1.2 mm. Test material AISI 420. Tests carried out were tensile test, impact test and hardness test in weld metal, HAZ and base metal. From the Charpy impact test and tensile test obtained the value of welding strength which is close to the strength of the complete object, which is equal to 65%. The energy absorbed by the impact test object with GMAW welding is 5.4 Joule while for the whole test object is 8.1 Joule. The welding tensile strength is 520 MPa compared to the tensile tensile strength of 820 MPa.

The manufacture of tools such as machetes in Banten is still widely practiced, machetes are produced from a conventional forging process using a hammer by a blacksmith. Working as a blacksmith in the Banten area, especially in the village of the new village of lightning, was passed down from generation to generation as a traditional blacksmith, but over time the machetes produced by traditional blacksmiths began to be replaced by modern ones machete. The traditional golok of Kampung Baru Village, Petir, consists of two types, the regular machete and the sulangkar golok. The material commonly used by blacksmiths to make machetes is a vehicle spring sheet that is no longer used, while for making machetes, a blacksmith usually combines other materials during forging. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in the mechanical and micro properties of the two types of golok, Banten cultural heritage. The research was carried out from the start of the search for the material, the manufacturing and forging processes and carried out testing. The results of the hardness test show that the value of the spring material is 423.1 HBW, SS 400 steel material 134.18 HBW, combination material or Sulangkar 735.15 HBW then the data results from the tensile test on steel material SS 400, Spring, Combination or Sulangkar are 442.52 MPa, 1334,60 MPa, 522.81 MPa. The results of the data from the impact test on Spring material, SS 400 steel, Combination or Sulangkar, namely 162 J, 34 J, 88 J. The results of automatic microscope testing and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) show the surface of the spring, SS 400 steel and combination materials.
