This article presents the most important aims and conduction of the “Patriotic Studies” project, carried by us. Research was carried out in Poland, Russia, Turkey, Georgia and Romania. We present the foundations of our decisions, and methodological solutions in fields of: aims, identification of the most important ideas, state of knowledge, research inspirations. We present the chosen research method, sample, and tested environments. In addition, the article contains the reconstruction of selected aspects of Pierre Bourdieu’s theory, on which we based our strategy. The described research has the comparative and international nature. Three main aims were established: measuring the level and scope of identification with the state and society among the university students, measuring the level of social, economic and cultural capital of the examined youth and examining the correlation between them and the level of identification with the state and society manifested by the respondents, as well as determining and examining the possible correlations between the patriotic attitude (the degree of identification with the state and society) and the field of study, the country of residence and the level of symbolic capital.

Abstract This research focuses on the issue of state-minority contestations involving transforming and reconstituting each other in post-independent Sri Lanka. This study uses a qualitative research method that involves critical categories of analysis. Migdal’s theory of state-in-society was applied because it provides an effective conceptual framework to analyse and explain the data. The results indicate that the unitary state structure and discriminatory policies contributed to the formation of a minority militant social force (the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam – The LTTE) which fought with the state to form a separate state. The several factors that backed to the defeat of the LTTE in 2009 by the military of the state. This defeat has appreciably weakened the Tamil minority. This study also reveals that contestations between different social forces within society, within the state, and between the state and society in Sri Lanka still prevail, hampering the promulgation of inclusive policies. This study concludes that inclusive policies are imperative to end state minority contestations in Sri Lanka.

This paper reports the study of drug consumption carried out within the population of undergraduate students from 2 colleges of Alfenas, in the state of Minas Gerais state. Both licit and illicit drugs were studied, including alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, cocaine, heroin, crack, inhalants, glue, tranquilizers, stimulants, and others. METHODOLOGY: The research included a wide bibliographical search and the application of a questionnaire to approximately 23% of the students (total of 6500 students). RESULTS: A total of 1500 students participated in this investigation. The results demonstrated that there was a significant consumption of both licit and illicit drugs. The pattern of drug consumption in the research sample was similar to other investigations conducted in Brazil and in other countries. DISCUSSION: It was observed that 55% of the university students use drugs. However, the most surprising finding was that most of the students (88%) answered "yes" to the inquiry, "Have you already tried any type of drug, including alcohol and cigarettes?" The students revealed that they had taken drugs even prior to the admission to the university. The results suggest clearly that the university environment does not necessarily represent the starting point for student drug consumption.

The research was developed from 2018 with the aim of generating a model that sustainably facilitates the linking and management of knowledge in the university. A bibliographic review on successful linkage models was carried out to contrast with the experiences in the UTP, in addition, a survey was applied to consult the main actors involved in the linkage and knowledge management system. From the analysis of the surveys, the model was designed to manage the knowledge generated in the Faculty of Computer Systems Engineering (FISC) with the potential that the implementation can be replicated in other faculties. The model allows visualizing the opportunities generated by knowledge management not only for students, but also for the Faculty, the UTP, the State and Society.

This research was carried out with the objective of determining the association between excess weight and body composition in university students. It is an observational cross-sectional study in a public university of the State of Mexico; 64 students between 19 and 25 years old were included through a simple random sampling. Body composition was assessed based on Anthropometry with written acceptance. The results when analyzing the central obesity in the population showed that 57.81% are normal weight, 29.69% are overweight and 7.81% are obese. Also 50% of men between 20-25 years, have values ≥90 cm waist. In the case of women, the prevalence of a value above that recommended ≥80 cm was greater than 55% since the age of 19. This result indicates that most women are at greater risk from an early age. These preliminary results show how the university population reflects the high rates of overweight and obesity in Mexico. It is necessary to establish plans to prevent and reduce the prevalence of obesity and avoid its impact on chronic diseases in the future.

This paper introduces a 2015 survey of Roskilde University students' use of IT-tools in project work. Based on a survey and qualitative interviews, the use of IT-tools in various phases of project work is illustrated and discussed. The concept "academic digital competence" is introduced as a framework for the study, and parallels are drawn to international research confirming that students tend to use only a limited number of IT-tools, the majority of which were not developed for academic purposes. The survey results are compared to the actual range of IT-tools that the university offers freely to faculty and students. In conclusion, the authors discuss the reasons for the state of affairs and how to strengthen academic digital competences.

This paper deal with the challenges in and approaches to bringing about both   and integration in multiethnic Indonesia’s people life. Till now, some challenges in national integration are still found in forms of: SARA (ethnicity, religion, and inter-group)-based social conflicts, fake news (hoax), hate speeches (e.g. Saracen), radical movements, separatism movements, etc. These are due to inequality n social-economic development, low awareness of some elements of the state, and allegedly discriminative practices. Overcoming the multi-dimension problems needs genuine commitment, hard work, allegiance to the Constitusion and Pancasila (Indonesia’s ideological principles) as the state foundation, and awareness of the whole elements of the nation. To analyze deeply the phenomena relating to the callenges in and approaches to bringing about national integration, a library research method was used. Building on written sources of books, journals, newspapers and other prited media, the current paper could expectedly result in a valuable publication. The analysis performed in the present writing started by selecting, evaluating, and analyzing contents and the shynthezing the contents of different books and journals so as to draw conclusions. To secure the validity of the printed sources, the author out both external and internal critiques of the library sources used.

Mobility and interactivity are two growing phenomena among youth. Mobile applications (apps) are capturing the attention of university students, which opens up a range of opportunities. Using a quantitative and qualitative research method, the possible usefulness of applications in the university environment with an entertainment objective is studied. It is concluded that from the student perspective, interactive applications specialized in their profile are well received and that the main criteria of choice are quality and price. A significant relationship is observed between age and use of social networks to plan entertainment. Spanish university students, therefore, need a specialized app that covers their leisure and entertainment needs digitally and efficiently.

The rising tuberculosis (TB) incidence has become one of the main health issues in the world. The objective of this study is to understand TB knowledge and what factors may predict students’ TB knowledge among University students in Indonesia. This study included a total of 200 students. Convenient sampling was used to recruit students for the study. Univariate analysis utilized, such as t-test and one-way ANOVA and Pearson correlations coefficient. Stepwise multiple regression analysis was used to understand which factors can predict the TB knowledge. Overall, the mean score for TB knowledge among the students was 9.49 out of 14. Most of the respondents were male, and included several ethnicities, such as Sunda and non-Sunda. The variables associated with TB knowledge were gender, education, major field of study, and heard of TB. Moreover, the study found that, as predictors, the variables that influenced knowledge about TB ranked according to relevance were: major field of study and educational background. Health promotion among students is very important to improve their knowledge related to TB disease. The findings could be used for designing the university strategic programs in measuring the knowledge of TB among their students. Students with accurate knowledge of TB can help reduce its prevalence in Indonesia.
