Special attention should be paid to the motivation of educational process, because, the motives themselves, directly affect the quality of professional training and the formation of a professional personality. The aim of the article is to investigate the motivational structure of the students’ educational activity in the dental community and its relationship with academic achievement in the discipline “Therapeutic dentistry”. The structure of motivation for the educational activity of 161 fourth year dental students was studied by the methodology of I. T. Ilyina, which involves the study of motivation according to three scales: “Acquisition of knowledge”, “Mastering the profession” and “Obtaining a diploma”. The interrelation between different types of motivation and the academic success of the interviewed students is studied. It was established that in the structure of motivation of educational activity of dental students positive motives prevail over negative ones in 2.4 times, which indicates the qualitatively high level of motivation of these students. The rather high level of motivation of the interviewed students is probably related to the prestige of the chosen profession, its social significance and sufficient material security. With students who have high and average index of academic achievement cognitive and professional motives are uppermost, which indicates their orientation to obtain strong professional knowledge and practical skills. Students with a low index of academic achievement have a dominant pragmatic motivation for learning, which indicates their superficial motivation in order to achieve the main goal — obtaining a diploma. The given results testify to the favorable influence of positive motivation on academic achievement of students of the dental profile and, as a consequence, on the level of professional training of doctors in the field of “Dentistry”. The prospect of further research is the introduction into the educational processes of the Department of Therapeutical Stomatology in National Pirogov Memorial Medical University innovative pedagogical methods that motivate for educational activity, and research of their influence on the level of academic achievement of dental students.

The respondents were at the 10th, 11th, and 12th levels of the Operative Dentistry course in a ratio of 34.2%, 32.1%, and 33.7%, respectively. Data were collected from survey items (18 questions) covering six areas: Learning Objectives, Course Materials, Content Relevance, Instructor knowledge, Instructor delivery and Style, and Facility and environment. Descriptive and analytical tests were performed using SPSS Software 19, with the significance level set at 0.05.ResultsA high level of satisfaction was seen among Level 10 (68.18%), Level 11 (79.03%), and Level 12 (86.15%) students. A significant statistical difference was observed among Level 10 students with a low-level of satisfaction and a high level of satisfaction (p<0.05). The percentage of satisfaction increased with the level. A high level of satisfaction was seen among male (78.90%) and female (76.19%) students, with a total satisfaction level of 77.72%.Conclusion Continuous evaluation and assessment of teaching and curriculum can be a tool to improve the quality of education imparted, especially in clinical courses such as operative dentistry. This helps to prepare the students for their professional life as healthcare providers. The role of teaching skills related to amalgam has to be reevaluated. Academic achievement is often considered as a key criterion to judge one's total potentialities and capabilities. Academic achievement has become a prime interest for the teachers, educationists, psychologists and parents to predict children's academic success which is considered to be an outcome of the learning environment and the family. The present study aimed at seeking the level of academic achievement of female students at the college level with respect to their family environment and locale. Random Sampling Technique was applied to draw the sample of 200 female students studying in the five-degree colleges of Jammu City (J&K) in the year 2015. Family Environment Scale (FES-BC) by Bhatia and Chadha (2012) was used for data collection. This tool has eight dimensions-Cohesion, Expressiveness, Conflict, Acceptance and Caring, Independence, Active-Recreational Orientation, Organisation and Control. The findings revealed that most of the female students were having an average level of academic achievement. Very few female students were found to have a high level of academic achievement. No significant differences in the level of academic achievement were found among female students in relation to their residential background, whereas significant differences were found in the family environment of female students with respect to the locality at the sub-scale “Acceptance and Caring” and “Active Recreational Orientation”. The value of the coefficient of correlation was found to be low, positive but significant at the 0.01 level of significance at the sub-scale “Cohesion” of Family Environment Scale. It shows that academic achievement and cohesion in the family are positively related with each other, however, the correlation is low.

A comprehensive examination of 213 interns of both sexes was carried out. A system of psychotherapeutic correction of maladaptive states and psycho-preventive support of interns during the period of professional training has been developed. Levels of adaptation of internship doctors for professional activity were emphasized: high (14,1 %), average (20,2 %) and low level (65,7 %). It was described the asthenical (25,8 % of men and 22,5 % of women), hypersthenic (20,6 % of men and 23,2 % of women), anxiodepressive (11,3 % and 20,6 % respectively), psychosomatic (14,5 % of men and 18,1 % of women), asthenic-apathetical (12,3 % and 11,2 % respectively) and addictive (15,5 % of men and 4,4 % of women) variants of maladaptive reactions among the internship doctors. The developed model of the formation of disorders of adaptation of internship doctors is presented by a complex of pathogenic factors. It was established that the basis for the formation of maladaptive reactions among the internship doctors is the presence of somatic pathology, craniocerebral injury and neuroinfection in the anamnesis and the tendency to addictive behavior. Prognostically important factors in the formation of adaptation disorders are conflicts of family and professional relations, disturbing suspiciousness, low communicativeness, difficult working conditions, lack of positive emotions, awareness of inadequate level of competence, low level of motivation, and imperfectiveness of mechanisms of psychological protection. Triggers for the development of maladaptive states are the high level of professional stress, depletion of adaptation, prolonged mental stress, frustration of significant basic needs, and high rates of clinical scale of anxiety and depression HDRS. An individualized three-stage system of medical and psychological support during the professional training period, which involves the application of complex psychodiagnostic, psychotherapeutic, psychoeducational and psychoprophylactic influences, has been developed and tested.

The article provides an overview of the social practices of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The level of Adventist participation in educational, health, philanthropic and political activities is analyzed. It is determined that the educational activity of Adventists is based on the integration of Christian values into the educational process in order to educate a purposeful person who is able to serve God and society at a high level. Adventist medical and health activities are aimed at preventing physical illness, as it is believed that the disease is easier to prevent than to cure. Adventists practice charity through the officially established Adventist Relief and Development Agency, which believes that the Church’s assistance to society must meet not only the spiritual but also the physical needs of man. Adventist participation in politics is not approved, but it is not forbidden. This is due to the conflict and rivalry that arises in the political race, so it is desirable to use your talents in those areas that bring peace and good to society. It is stated that the central idea of the social teaching of the Seventh-day Adventist Church is the protection of freedom of conscience and the dignity of the human person. Thus, by putting the principles of social doctrine into practice, the Seventh-day Adventist church premises become the Church’s social laboratories, through which the faithful of this denomination achieve two goals. The first of them is aimed at spreading their own religious beliefs and teachings, and the second – following the example of Christ, who during his life on earth served the physical needs of society around him. As a result of the study, the document “Social Teaching of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Ukraine” aims to implement the Church’s two goals: educational and charitable, the implementation of which allows the denomination to positively represent themselves in Ukrainian and world society.

As motives can act in conjunction emotions and aspirations, interests and needs, ideals and attitudes. Therefore, motives are complex dynamic systems in which choice and decision-making, analysis and evaluation of choice are carried out. Motivation for students is the most effective way to improve the learning process. Motives are the driving forces of the learning process and assimilation of the material. Motivation for learning is a rather complicated and ambiguous process of changing the attitude of the individual, both to a separate subject of study and to the entire educational process.
