The research deals with a different understanding of things in the context of culture. An attempt was made to analyze the phenomenon of a thing through the scientificmethodological approach of Lacan, Marx, and Heidegger. The article also attempts to answer the main question: what does a thing mean in modern society, and what transformations of this concept took place in a historical perspective. The article analyzes such order of things in which things at different levels (physical, social, axiological, etc.) manifest themselves in different ways, as well as possess different qualities and characteristics, which gives us the opportunity to talk about a new understanding of a thing in the context of an information society, in which the physical thing is nullified and the symbolic thing appears. To distinguish these two concepts, we need to understand how the thing is realized in the desire, because the desire itself is the direction that motivates a person to make a choice, and this is what a person is deprived of the XXI century. The purpose of this article is a thorough consideration of thing in the context of mass culture. Designation of connections between human “I” and a thing in the context of the new information society. The relevance of this article consists in the fact that in modern Western societies there is a loss of the value of a thing as a value that is not only inside the thing itself, but also goes beyond the material world. This is primarily due to mass production and the emergence of a consumer society. The methodology: the author uses a systematic approach and the analytics is made from the point of view of materialism, existentialism, and psychoanalysis. The results: the author identifies ten points that characterize the thing in the context of mass culture. The emphasis is on mediocrity as the main agent of consumerism. A broad analysis of the subject is given in the context of social criticism of the USSR and Western societies of the modern type. The topicality. This article for the first time specifies a correlation between things in popular culture and mediocrity as an extra class phenomenon that significantly affects social processes. It also for the first time analyzes things on the basis of the fundamental philosophical teachings of the XX century and makes connection between Marxism, phenomenology and psychoanalysis, which for a long time have been considered methodological antagonists. The removal of this conflict leads to the discovery of new methodological studies in the field of culture, since they can study human activity from different sides (each with its own), but also closely cooperating with each other. Practical value. Research in this area using philosophical methodology gives us the opportunity to comprehend the concept of mediocrity and trace its connection with the thing, which in its turn opens up opportunities for us for a deeper understanding of the processes that began to take place after the Second World War. For a modern person, it is very important to ask yourself questions about the relationship between me and things. Questions like these are just as important in the educational process.

The purpose and tasks of the work are to analyze the contemporary Ukrainian mass culture in terms of its value and humanistic components, as well as the importance of cultural studies and Ukrainian studies in educational disciplines for the formation of a holistic worldview of modern youth.Analysis of research and publications. Scientists repeatedly turned to the problems of the role of spirituality in the formation of society and its culture. This problem is highlighted in the publications by O. Losev, V. Lytvyn, D. Likhachev, S. Avierintsev, M. Zakovych, I. Stepanenko and E. Kostyshyn.Experts see the main negative impact of mass culture on the quality approach, which determines mass culture through the market, because mass culture, from our point of view, is everything that is sold and used in mass demand. One of the most interesting studies on this issue was the work by the representatives of Frankfurt School M. Horkheimer and T. Adorno «Dialectics of Enlightenment» (1947), devoted to a detailed analysis of mass culture. Propaganda at all socio-cultural levels in the form is similar in both totalitarian and democratic countries. It is connected, according to the authors, with the direction of European enlightenment. The tendency to unify people is a manifestation of the influence of mass culture, from cinema to pop. Mass culture is a phenomenon whose existence is associated with commerce (accumulation in any form – this is the main feature of education), in general, the fact that it exists in this form is related to the direction of the history of civilization.Modern mass culture, with its externally attractive and easily assimilated ideas and symbols, appealing to the trends of modern fashion, becomes a standard of prestigious consumption, does not require intense reflection, allows you to relax, distract, not teach, but entertains, preaches hedonism as the main spiritual value. And as a consequence, there are socio-cultural risks: an active rejection of other people, which leads to the formation of indifference; cruelty as a character trait; increase of violent and mercenary crime; increase in the number of alcohol and drug addicts; anti-patriotism; indifference to the values of the family and as a result of social orphanhood and prostitution. Conclusions, perspectives of research. Thus, we can conclude that modern Ukrainian education is predominantly formed by the values of mass culture. Namely, according to the «Dialectic» by Horkheimer and Adorno, «semi-enlightenment becomes an objective spirit» of our modern society. It is concluded that only high-quality education can create the opposite of the onset of mass culture and the destruction of spirituality in our society. It is proved that only by realizing the importance of cultivating disciplines in the educational process and the spiritual upbringing of the nation, through educational reforms, humanitarian knowledge will gradually return to student audiences.Formation of youth occurs under the influence of social environment, culture, education and self-education. The optimal combination of these factors determines both the process of socialization itself and how successful it will be. In this context, one can see the leading role of education and upbringing. It turns out that the main task of modern education is to spread its influence on the development of spiritual culture of the individual, which eventually becomes a solid foundation for the formation of the individual. Such a subject requires both philosophical and humanitarian approaches in further integrated interdisciplinary research, since the availability of such research will provide the theoretical foundation for truly modern educational and personal development.

At present, social philosophy is dominated by the view that the importance of mass culture is constantly decreasing, which soon is supposed to lead to the natural decay of this cultural form. The author refutes the arguments of those who are skeptical about the position of mass culture in the post-industrial and digital information society and shows that the functional nature of this type of culture allows it to successfully fulfill its role in modern social systems. The materials of the article can be useful in preparing courses in the framework of social philosophy.

The author proves that despite the generally accepted point of view regarding the negative functions performed by mass culture in society, i.e., first of all, simplifying consciousness, escapist, and compensatory one, there is a number of positive functions performed by mass culture in modern society. Among them, the author highlights the ability of mass culture to construct social communities and the adaptive function that becomes necessary within the framework of non-traditional — industrial, post-industrial, and informational social structures. The material of the article may be of interest as a specific methodology for the study of socio-cultural phenomena.

The main purpose of the article is to point outsome relations between beauty and good in contemporary reality. The main question that arises here is as follows: is the relationship of beauty and moral good still relevant? The concept presented in the thesis refers to the ancient idea of kalokagathia. It stated that beauty is inseparable from moral good. As far as this ancient perspective is concerned, it can be treated as the background for contemporary considerations about the main issue of beauty and good. The article refers to the concept of aestheticization by Wolfgang Welsch. He defines aesthetics as the primary guiding value, where as experience and entertainment have become the guidelines for contemporary culture. Moreover, the thesis mentions the concept of the consumer society and new ethics of the relation to the body as it is described by Jean Budrillard. Then the narration of the article focuses on the following problem: in what sense can we talk nowadays about moral motivation for beauty treatments of body? One assumption leads to the case of looking after one’s body. Another point of view mentions the need of harmony which manifests itself in beautiful body. Eventually, the central question emerges whether contemporary practice of beautifying the body can be a part of the concept of the good life or not.

To identify and characterize the role of transdisciplinary and multidisciplinary dialogue in modern information society. Theoretical basis of the study is presented by works on essence and development of post-classical information society. A separate block is represented by works on knowledge and science, which are changing in modern societies under the influence of informatization and globalization. Theoretical basis of the study is grounded on ideas about transdisciplinarity, transdisciplinary field of research as a field of dialogue between different sciences and paradigms. Scientific novelty. It is hypothesized that transdisciplinary dialogue is one of the basic principles of modern information society formation, in this double principle of dialogization is implemented - both plurization, dialogization of truth in science and philosophy is performed, and another process - science and transdisciplinary research contribute to the development of new information technologies, mediation and democratization of society, where information society acts as a main customer and consumer of transdisciplinary knowledge, adapting it to new needs of media culture and digitalization. The role of transdisciplinary and interdisciplinary dialogue in modern society is shown, as well as the understanding of this dialogue from the point of view of philosophy and the humanities. The need for democratization and harmonization of knowledge is proved, it is shown that with the spreading of interactive dialogue democratic institutions penetrate into information structures, thus providing an opportunity to talk about the plurality of truth and complementarity of different ways of cognition. It is revealed that transdisciplinarity is provided by special procedures of dialogue and scientific research, including reflection and transflection, fractality, «included» view, intersectoral expertise, including environmental parameters. Thanks to dialogue, knowledge is centered around man and civil society, a combination of anthropological, socio-philosophical, physical-mathematical and ecological-biological paradigms. It is stated that the development of transdisciplinary and scientific dialogue leads to overcoming the boundaries between humanitarian and natural approaches to reality, the universalization of science as a way of cognition.

The formation of scientific research activity abilities in comprehensive school is undoubtedly, a very important sphere still awaiting of particular attention. Current teaching and learning process has basically changed looking from the paradigmatic point of view. Teaching subjects become the means of realization of learners’ demands and interests. Scientific research activity is not an entertainment, but a very responsible, thorough work requiring great self-independence. During this activity children’s analytic thinking becomes stronger, information search and usage abilities are being developed, they can learn to analyze the accumulated material, make presentations, prepare research reports and so on. By doing scientific research, learners approach new knowledge and new methods to solve problems of daily life. The main question is how to combine scientific research and science education. First of all we should elaborate specific policies how to encourage our learners to do scientific research. According to E.Šapokienė (1994), exploration is „a form of the organization of the educational process, when pupils become familiar with the basic methods of research, learn easily comprehensible elements of research methodology, obtain knowledge and skills to individually investigate phenomena of natural and environmental life“. This is also very important from political point of view. After qualitative analysis of the scientific information sources it is possible to separate some categories of importance of the scientific research activity of learners, for example, careers counselling, development of cognitive abilities and skills, formation of values system, development of intelligence, creativity etc. Scientific research activity in comprehensive school is undoubtedly a meaningful, integral sphere, however, for developing such kind of activity in Lithuanian comprehensive schools not an adequate attention was paid up to now. Insufficient attention devoted to scientific research activities is one of the reasons why the classes of ‘Science’ are not popular among students in different countries. We can safely assert that especially in primary school practically not an appropriate attention is paid to formation of scientific-research abilities. It is obvious, that modern teaching process is not favorable orientating pupils for scientist (researcher) career. In the given article the basic documents regulating education in Lithuania are analysed. The conclusion is drawn that the attention to scientific research activity of students is given ever less attention. Key words: scientific research activity, career, comprehensive school, science education.

The purpose of the article consists of exploring carnival as a form of “Entertainment” in Renaissance discourse. The research methodology consists in the application of analytical method - to determine the theoretical and methodological foundations of the study of the phenomenon of "Entertainment" in the discourse of Renaissance; formalization method - to formulate the concept of "Entertainment" within the subject field of art; we use historical and cultural method for studying the phenomenon of «Entertainment» as a form of individualization of collective experience on the example of carnival in the context of the Renaissance discourse. The scientific novelty of the work is that for the first time the essence of the phenomenon of “Entertainment” as a form of individualization of collective experience on the example of carnival in the context of the Renaissance culture. Conclusions. Since the late Middle Ages, the carnival has become a prominent phenomenon in the culture of laughter, offering an antithesis to the religious attitudes that monopolized culture and art. Carnival, as a form of «Entertainment» in the discourse of the Renaissance, contributes to the identification of laughter elements in the culture of the Renaissance and helps to determine the significance of the laughter aspects of socio-cultural processes for society as a whole. The body image, as the main image of the carnival, creates a tendency for organizing "mass laughter", that is, a category that is actively used in our time on the example of the KVN format, which has become all-encompassing in modern society. Carnival, from the point of view of the cognitive perspectives of historical and anthropological research, outlines the features of the mentality of a Renaissance person. The carnival, as a form of «Entertainment», created conditions for the individualization of the collective experience, which was reflected in the culture of laughter, that is, «another reality» at certain times every year. Carnival formulated a concentrated universalistic formula for life and historical process. A street style of speech and imagery was formed, which became the «implementation» of the opposition to the official culture of the Renaissance.

The purpose of the article is to explore the main narratives of Myroslav Skoryk's opera "Moses" based on the poem by Ivan Franko, from the point of view of the classical-romantic aesthetic platform of the struggle for the ideal. The crisis of modern society motivates the composer to fulfill the role of the Guide, which requires urgent changes in the vector of artistic development in the direction of highly spiritual philosophical, and ethical orientation. The methodology is to consider the psychological narrative of the romantic creative orientation of I. Franko (R. Golod), to analyze modern problems of opera in Ukraine (I. Gamkalo), to use comparative analysis of epoch-making problems in Ukraine of early XX - XXI centuries and to compare egalitarian and elitist understanding the orientation of the work of M. Skoryk (L. Kiyanovska). The scientific novelty of the approaches is related to the consideration of the composer's narrative discourse as an appeal to the generalized intonation and figurative symbolism of musical stylistics, rather than the stylization of certain historical or ethnic components. For the first time, M. Skoryk's opera "Moses" was considered as a work that foretells a difficult path to freedom, prosperity, and happiness. Conclusions. The work expresses a narrative focus on the synthesis of the classical-romantic compositional-formative construct with a generalized-symbolic "timeless" understanding of philosophical and poetic imagery. In this context, the church's monodic trichord or appeal to the figurative sphere of M. Lysenko's vocal works express narratives of turning to God and the idea of the dream homeland, which ultimately forms a personal mythological space of existence.
