The digital technologies in all spheres of life, including education are now a hallmark of our modern identity; they shape how we live today. They enable applying new opportunities, for instance, distance learning, which is quite relevant today. Ivano Frankivsk National Medical University has the site "Office 365 Cloud Services", which is accessible to all teachers and students and thus creates a single digital environment. Practical classes and lectures on pediatric therapeutic dentistry during quarantine are conducted in an online conference format in Microsoft Teams, a teamwork centre in Office 365, which is a simplified version of learning management systems; it enables communicating, file sharing, etc. between the group members. The program is convenient because it combines everything in a common work environment, including chat for discussion, file sharing and corporate programs. Students pass on each topic of the test tasks in the system, which were posted on pmk.ifnmu.edu.ua or tests.if.ua. The teacher converts the test result into scores according to the evaluation criteria. Delivering theoretical themes and checking their comprehension is organized by means of video communication. During the online lesson, the teacher interviews the topic, corrects the answer, and explains the points that might be discussible or unclear, using pre-loaded visuals or other materials, e.g. presentations, videos, photos, radiographs and orthopantomograms. For future dentists it is extremely important to master practical skills, work with real patients, practice manual and communication skills. Digital technologies help during distance learning at least partially to master the practical aspect of the discipline by creating multimedia presentations, which consists of tasks, three to four questions for each task, a clinical case, if possible video. The use of digital technologies, especially during distance education can and should take its place in the education system, because with its proper organization it can provide quality education that meets the requirements of modern society.

Digital technologies command determines the information and professional competence of a teacher. The first competences help him to organize a modern educational process, others provide access to the latest professional information. Studies show that serious complex strategies for the use of digital technologies are beginning to emerge, and a teacher is becoming a leader in future education. Digital technologies are becoming more complicated and there is an urgent need for new professionals - learning engineers who have to provide new strategies in education. The paper considers a complex of open distance courses for the training of teachers to use new educational technologies. The courses use the results of the annual polls of the world's pedagogical community to identify popular pedagogical instruments. They form teachers’ personal knowledge mastery. This contributes to the development of a personal learning environment and a teacher's personal learning network. The learning engineer's training system should consist of software engineering and the proposed teaching block. The last block includes sections for the formation of skills of personal knowledge mastery, the design of a distance course, the development of the structure, organization of distance and blended learning, expertise of the distance course. All sections of the pedagogical unit were tested in open distance courses at the Research Laboratory of Distance Learning at NTU "KhPI". During 2013-2018 open distance learning courses were learnt by more than 2,600 teachers of Ukraine and 370 of them successfully completed the training. The next step should be to integrate efforts with IT specialists, identify competencies of the learning engineer and prepare a training program for a specialist in the future.

The content of the concept of “distance learning” and the views of scientists on its interpretation are presented. It reveals the teaching experience of the discipline “Ukrainian language (by professional direction)” by means of distance learning at the Ukrainian Language Department of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University. The materials for checking the level of medical specialties students’ knowledge in the aforementioned discipline are offered for the following themes: “Language standard. Orthoepic norms, norms of emphasis”, “Lexical aspect of medical professional language. Phraseological units in professional language”, “Terminology in professional communication. Lexical-semantic relations in scientific terminology. Features of Ukrainian medical terminology”, “Dictionaries in professional communication. Types of dictionaries, their function and role in enhancing language culture”, “Morphological aspect of Medical Professional Language”, “Syntactic aspect of Medical Professional Language”, “Features of Ukrainian language etiquette. Communicative qualities of language culture. Doctor’s Language Etiquette”, “Public speech and its genres”. It emphasizes the usage of detailed instructions for practical tasks and for submitting samples to each task. The research demonstrates that the teacher must take into account the goal, the age of the students, the professional orientation of the tasks. It underscores that the given tasks have a practical orientation and cannot comprehensively assess the student’s knowledge level in the study of a specific topic, but they aim to diversify distance learning, make it interesting. Undoubtedly, the usage of computer-based distance learning provides a learning process, so it needs to be refined and developed. This type of training encourages the specialist to look for new forms and methods of teaching the discipline, and the student to work independently, to work with different sources of information. It should be noted that the development of distance learning in the Ukrainian education system is perspective.

The article describes the difficulties of transition to distance learning (DL) at a medical university when students pass clinical disciplines, using the example of the subject of "psychiatry". The negative impact of the pandemic on international cooperation in the field of education and science was also noted, in particular, attracting foreign students to further education. Based on the above, the following tasks were set: to study the features of the transition to distance learning the subject of "psychiatry" at the Odessa National Medical University, to identify the features of distance work with English-speaking foreign students during their learning of this discipline and to present proposals for optimizing this process. During the transition to DL, a significant decrease in the quality of education was noticed during the absence of an existing learning management system, since this transition was a certain stress for all participants in the educational process, both students and teachers. Significant problems have arisen in the DL of clinical disciplines for English-speaking students. The greatest difficulty is the teaching of psychiatry, since it is difficult to explain to students in English not only the description of psychopathological symptoms and syndromes, but also the mental characteristics of people with other nationalities. It is proposed to use movies, with the main heroes suffering from mental disorders, as a thematic guide for mastering practical skills. Although some of the positive aspects of DL have been noted by medical students, they agree to DL only as a forced short-term measure.

Distance learning (DL) is a completely new and unique form of education, which got forced to switch to by the current pandemic of coronavirus disease. Note that until now, distance learning technologies have been used at the department of general and clinical pathological physiology and some other departments of the Odessa National Medical University (ONMedU). The aim of this analytical article is to analyze the efficacy of ONMedU General and Clinical Pathological Physiology Department staff during the one and a half year period of the coronavirus infection pandemic with an accent to psychological approach to students modified teaching. The urgent need of time and the primary desire to protect students and their own lives during 2020-2021 requires us to improve our own pedagogical approaches in the further on-line teaching of students. We see success in systematic methodological work with students, the implementation of which will make it possible to evoke and increase their motivation to study histology. The importance of this methodological technique, supported in the senior years of medical universities by the integration of teaching theoretical and clinical disciplines, the approximation of teaching to specific clinical cases will help optimize the assimilation of morphological knowledge by students at least and, undoubtedly, in the near future will lead to a better assimilation of clinical disciplines. In connection with the ideas of individualized and developmental learning, the use of psychological capabilities of learning tools in the virtual environment brings both pedagogy and psychology to a new level of understanding the mediation of mental, creative, communicative and executive learning and learning activities. The use of distance learning helps the students to acquire skills of independent work, creates comfortable conditions for creativity, increases the creative and intellectual potential of the student through self-organization, the ability to interact with computer technology and make responsible decisions, creates favorable conditions for individual creative expression in the process of learning, for the development of the student's personality. The authors are convinced that the optimization and improvement of the educational process in medical universities is to draw students' attention to the problems that the medical community is dealing with on a daily basis today.

The changes taking place in the postindustrial society impose requirements on the introduction of fast and cheap ways of generating and transferring knowledge. E-learning seems to be the tool that can solve this serious problem of modern society in the context of digitalization. The catalyst for the development of open education is the crisis that the system of traditional higher education is currently experiencing. In the study carried out by the authors, the crisis processes in modern higher education have been studied and the existing tendencies to overcome them have been identified. Based on the analysis of the essence of open education, its strengths and the problem field, the authors concluded that the research of the collaboration of online and offline education and management of this system becomes a priority within the framework of the problem under study, which contributes to the innovative nature of the development of higher education. schools. According to the authors, it is the collaboration of online and offline education that will solve a large number of methodological, organizational, and financial problems arising in distance learning. At the same time, in order to use the advantages of online learning, such as mobility, convenience, maximum personalization, openness and accessibility, lower cost, remote work performance, it seems necessary to change the conditions and opportunities for interaction between participants in the educational process.

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed all aspects of life and learning in the world and in Ukraine. Quarantine restrictions made it impossible to conduct the educational process in medical universities by traditional methods (oral and written questioning, testing, attending lectures, participation in clinical trials and operations), which led to the restructuring of the educational process and the transition to distance learning. The aim of the work was to highlight the features of the organization of distance learning in higher medical institutions of Ukraine during the pandemic on the example of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University. Learning management systems (LMSs) use the online learning platform Moodle to effectively conduct distance learning. Due to the dynamism, modularity, flexibility of this platform, students have continuous access to educational materials, undergo current and final test control of the level of knowledge acquisition and preparation for the exam Step-1, Step-2. The online service Microsoft Teams allows teachers and students to communicate in real time, conduct video lectures, discussions, surveys, control of students’ self-preparation, increase the motivational component of training by creating creative questions in Forms, running marathons and others. A high-quality distance learning process requires its digitization and informatization, teamwork of teachers and students, changing the role of the teacher as a mentor and coordinator, increasing the motivational component by introducing creative approaches to learning.
