Wheeled transportation constituted a single factor that facilitated the incorporation of various African communities into the Europeans’ mercantile economy. In fact, it was an innovation in Africa where people had relied on some navigable waterways in the coastal areas, park animals in the tsetse flies free areas like Northern Nigeria and trekking along foot paths where human head porterage predominated. However, with the advent of the wheeled transportation technology, economic horizon became broader as people were provided with more profitable endeavors to engage themselves with. This essay attempts to analyze the development of wheeled transportation as a factor that was fundamental to the new developments in colonial Osun Division of Southwestern Nigeria. This is in a view to examine the diplomacies that surrounded road and rail construction in the division, Western Regional Government initiatives and the implications of the transportation technology on the divisional economy. The study depends on oral data gathered through interviews and archival materials as well as literatures that were considered relevant to the subject matter. Considering the shift of attention to the production of cash crops which were more profitable compared to the food crops, availability of new jobs as a result of the movement of the trading firms into the division and massive emigration of able bodied men and women in search of 78 Abiodun Ajayi more profitable jobs. There is therefore no doubt that wheeled transportation technology occasioned a transformation that was unprecedented in the colonial economy of Osun Division.

The suppression of the Irish provincial presidencies in August 1672 has received scant attention from historians. Scarcity of surviving source material has resulted in little serious scholarship being devoted to this particular form of regional government. This basic handicap was intensified by the circumstances of the decision to terminate the system. No serious abuses existed in its operation and no demand for its removal was evident yet the decision was implemented without official explanation. As a result most writers on restoration Ireland have confined themselves to brief and guarded generalisations when dealing with the subject.

The object of this research is the regional youth representative structures, while the subject is the establishment of youth parliamentary structures in the Russian Federation. The research leans on the methodology of historical neo-institutionalism with the “path dependence” approach. Attention is turned to studying the topic from the perspective of the need of federal and regional government in young personnel, substantiated by the shortage of competent specialists as a result of social disturbances. The empirical basis of this research is the interview with the former governor of Vologda Region (from 1996 to 2011) Vyacheslav Pozgalev, who was among the pioneers of the youth parliamentary movement. The novelty of this lies in examination of the phenomenon of youth parliamentarism in historical aspect. The date of creation of the first youth parliamentary body in Russia is established. The author determines five key prerequisites for the emergence of youth parliamentarism in the Russian Federation: European Charter; proliferation of the Western democratic values; political situation in the country; need for conventional self-expression of youth and creation of the filter for the youth labor pool. These prerequisites contributed the emergence and development of the institutions for expressing the political demands of the youth in the context of continuous dialogue ion with the federal and local government.

In the past twenty years, there have been exciting new developments in the field of anthropology. This second edition of Barnard's classic textbook on the history and theory of anthropology has been revised and expanded to include up-to-date coverage on all the most important topics in the field. Its coverage ranges from traditional topics like the beginnings of the subject, evolutionism, functionalism, structuralism, and Marxism, to ideas about globalization, post-colonialism, and notions of 'race' and of being 'indigenous'. There are several new chapters, along with an extensive glossary, index, dates of birth and death, and award-winning diagrams. Although anthropology is often dominated by trends in Europe and North America, this edition makes plain the contributions of trendsetters in the rest of the world too. With its comprehensive yet clear coverage of concepts, this is essential reading for a new generation of anthropology students.

Although non-invasive brain stimulation techniques do not involve surgical procedures, the challenge remains in correctly locating the stimulator from outside the head. There is a limit to which one can manually and precisely position and orient the stimulator or repeatedly move the stimulator around the same position. Therefore, in this study, we developed a serial robot with 6 degrees-of-freedom to move the stimulator and a neuro-navigation system to determine the stimulus point from looking at the shape of the subject’s brain. The proposed robot applied a spherical mechanism while considering the safety of the subject, and the workspace of the robot was designed considering the shape of the human head. Position-based visual servoing was applied to compensate for unexpected movements during subject stimulation. We also developed a neuro-navigation system that allows us visually to check the focus of the stimulator and the human brain at the same time and command the robot to the desired point. To verify the system performance, we first performed repeatability and motion compensation experiments of the robot and then evaluated the repeated biosignal response experiments through transcranial magnetic stimulation, a representative technique of non-invasive brain stimulation.

To identify, in the scientific literature, the identity nuances of Nursing in several contexts, especially in the fields of management and teaching, to contribute and unfold new notes on the proposed subject.Method: Integrative review, aiming to solve the following question: What are the identity settings of Nursing as a profession in both managing and teaching context? Data was collected in June 2017, without time or language delimitation, in full, from Cinahl database, from BVS and Dedalus portal, and from Scielo magazine directory. At the end of the data analysis, seven studies had been selected. Results: It was noticed that studies that are inherent to the professional identity of the nurse manager at IDA Program are still little explored. However, it was possible to discuss the subject matter by immersing itself in publications that reflect on the professional identity of the teaching and management nurse.Final considerations: The literature mentioned in this study allowed us to glimpse the variants that affect the construction of an identity archetype, thus allowing new developments to arise because of the need to explore this eminently specific and peculiar subject, since it is an exciting subject, abundant in possibilities and transformations Objetivo: Identificar, na literatura científica, as matizes identitárias da Enfermagem em diversos contextos, especialmente nos campos da gestão e do ensino, para contribuir e desdobrar novos apontamentos sobre a temática proposta.Método: Revisão integrativa, visando sanar o seguinte questionamento: Quais são as configurações identitárias da Enfermagem quanto profissão no contexto gerencial e de ensino? A commonly encountered criticism of present-day mathematics teaching is that we fail to take account of new developments; it is sometimes said that a mathematician of the seventeenth or eighteenth century could step into the modern class-room and be competent to teach any of the subject matter.

The strong link between music and medicine has been documented in Spain since the 17th century, showing that the therapeutic effects of music have been known for centuries. The development of music therapy as a scientific, independent discipline on the Iberian Peninsula begins in the 1960s due to the pioneering work of Serafina Poch. Since then, the interest in music and medicine both by specialists and public has constantly increased. Nowadays, music therapy is taught in public universities and private institutions, and a growing number of health care and educational centers is implementing music therapy projects each year, producing also an increase in the research on the subject. A sore point, which we hope can be resolved soon, is that music therapy in Spain has not yet been recognized with an official title and as an independent profession, leading to fragmentation of the field and leaving the door open to professional intrusion.  Keywords: music therapy, music medicine, Spain.

The study of ancient Near Eastern trial procedure has a long history, and the judicial systems of several periods have been investigated in detail. What remains lacking is a thorough and systematic treatment of the trial law and procedure from the Neo-Babylonian and Persian periods, though numerous legal texts have been studied. Recently two dissertations by F. R. Magdalene and S. E. Holtz have described the adjudicative process from the bringing of charges by an accuser through various stages and actions, including the taking of witness statements, interrogation, the examination of physical evidence, courts' demands for further evidence, summonses, and the issuing of conditional and final verdicts. Both also provide a basis for further investigation of this southern Mesopotamian legal system, which seems to have followed longstanding traditions but also contains indications of new developments. While both studies examine several hundred trial-related documents, one particular text that has been the subject of interpretation since the late nineteenth century receives scant attention. The document in question is Dar. 53. A close analysis of its text raises significant questions with regard to a particular aspect of trial procedure during the Neo-Babylonian and Persian periods. The text has never been satisfactorily treated, and recent references to it in scholarly literature in fact have led to erroneous conclusions about what it reveals in general, and regarding law and procedure in particular. Despite a consistent belief that the text records a trial, Dar. 53 actually arises from pre-trial demands and the resulting negotiations.
