This paper analyzes and discusses the impact of fiscal decentralization on the efficiency of museums run by municipalities. It tests the hypothesis that municipalities with higher levels of income self-sufficiency can more efficiently manage museums than municipalities with lower levels of financial self-sufficiency. For our analysis, we used financial data for the years 2015 to analyze the efficiency of museums using data envelopment analysis (DEA). To test the hypothesis about the impact of financial self-sufficiency, we use regression analysis. The results obtained did not confirmed the hypothesis.

The outbreak of COVID-19 has drastically disrupted the socio-economic fabric of human society. Not a single sector has been left unscathed from its impact. The education sector has been severely impacted by the same, though the significance level is not the same throughout India. Varied nature of repercussion from the educational sector has been reported based on several factors. Based on the primary survey, the present research paper is an attempt to empirically understand the level of influence of COVID -19 on the academic sector of a part of Mizoram state of India. The survey encompasses both the student (100 respondents) and teacher fraternity (100 respondents) of HS school level, Colleges, technical colleges, and the Central University of Mizoram. Through its statistical analysis, the study finds out the effects of COVID-19 in the education sector and finds out the adaptive strategic measures to deal with this problem in the study area., five hypotheses have been taken, and data has been analyzed on SPSS software (V.22) to fulfill the objective. This study's results reveal that the pandemic has severely hit the academic sector due to the lack of proficiency in online teaching mode due to the technological and infrastructural lacuna in remote mountainous locations. However, the study also empirically proves that the pandemic has raised technological awareness levels among various levels of the academic sector, and with proper technological planning in the study area, the region and similar remote locations can access quality education through online-distant mode.

This study aims to analyze the impact of (1) UKP (2) Couples Education (3) Respondent Education (4) Family Income (5) Number of Children on the use of family planning in West Sumatra Province. The data analysis tool used is logistic regression using Susenas 2017 data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). The study population is households that are married at an early age and already have children. The sample used was 507 poor households categorized using family planning and not using family planning. The hypothesis test used was the G test and the Wald test with a significance level of 5%. The results of the Logistic Regression found that UKP, respondent education, and number of children had an influence on family planning requests in West Sumatra Province. Therefore, equity and development in the field of education should be increased even more, so that education becomes more effective so that later higher quality education will build quality communities. In the long run, it will reduce the problems of poverty and population, especially problems in the growth rate of poor people and households.

In recent years, the impact of landslides on society has increased due to increasing urbanisation and climate change (as much as up to 30%). In about a decade, around 5000 fatal non-seismic landslides have occurred world-wide resulting in almost 56000 deaths, most of which took place in developing countries, such as China and Philippines. The purpose of studying the characteristics of landslides is to develop a better understanding of their features and to reduce any threat posed by them. Out of these characteristics the runout distance directly determines the impact of the landslide and extend of the affected area which are useful in evaluating risk to infrastructure (such as road pavement or railroad or built structures). Therefore, the study of landslide runout distance prediction has great significance for urban planning and risk assessment, specifically in mountainous areas.

This study focuses on conducting a review of previous literature on landslides reported at the region of Wenchuan in Sichuan (China), aiming to identify any trends connecting the cause and effect relationship between landslides in a phenomenological and empirical manner. Specifically, a dataset of landslides (20 due to rainfall and 50 due to earthquake) is used to statistically link, using multiple regression analysis, the travel distance to five main influencing factors, including landslide volume, height of landslide, landslide plane form, landslide average thickness and relative coefficient of friction. Good results are obtained through error minimisation rendering the developed framework as a useful tool for predictive analysis of the potential extend and impact of landslides using historical regional data.

The purpose of this study is to identify the impact of knowledge management applications on innovation in Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation in Jordan. Data obtained through a survey questionnaire distributed randomly to a sample of employees from various administrative levels in the ministry. To arrive at statistically significant conclusions, the authors used regression, correlation and Anova test analysis. The results indicate that a statistically significant effect for the impact of knowledge management applications on innovation in their four types (content applications, software and data management applications, smart applications, software and systems of linkage). It also shows that there are no statistically significant differences in innovation that are attributed to demographic variables (gender and age) and job variables (administrative levels and years of experience) at the level of significance (P, 0.05). Since this study was limited to the Ministry of Planning in Jordan, caution must be exercised in generalizing the results from this study to other organizations or sectors. Recommendations: Innovation processes need advanced and appropriate applications of knowledge management in order to improve the quality of administrative performance and to promote motivation ways for employees.

Abstract A successful Denial of Service attack on a CI can indirectly have devastating and irreversible effects to those that depend on its services. Furthermore, recent disruptions have raised concerns regarding the resiliency, security effectiveness and emergency preparedness of CIs and dependent resources. To address the persistent challenge of protecting CIs and maintaining the essential services they provide, this research offers emergency management personnel a conceptual framework to evaluate security effectiveness and estimate the cascading effects that may result from inadequate security measures. We combine the philosophy of multi-dimensional modeling, with the statistical engine of Bayesian Belief Networks to provide proactive, scenario-based interdependency analysis for CI protection and resiliency. The findings of this research resulted in a multi-dimensional approach that enables a heightened awareness of one’s risk-posture by highlighting the existence (strength) or absence (weakness) of relevant security factors. Through stakeholder risk-assessment, preemptive implementation of threat mitigation plans for dependent resources are permissible. Specifically, we provide this proof of concept, “what-if” analysis tool to assist in the reduction of vulnerabilities. To illustrate the conceptual framework, we provide a Healthcare and Public Health sector case study that evaluates the impact to a hospital patient given a successful DoS attack on a CI.

This study investigates whether local residents’ sociodemographics and community attachment can influence their perceptions toward the impact of tourism (economic, environmental, and sociocultural effects) and, further, whether these perceptions influence their satisfaction with local tourism management. The perceptions of 467 residents were surveyed from six communities in the region of Petra, Jordan. The results of a regression analysis indicate that the respondents’ sociodemographics and community attachment influence their perceptions of the impacts of tourism. Gender and distance from tourist sites are found to be very important factors that influence local residents’ perceptions. In addition, the perceived economic impact is the most important aspect for these respondents, and perceived negative impacts do not significantly influence their satisfaction. Suggestions for future studies in the region and possible implications are discussed.
