ABSTRACT : THE EFFECT OF PROGRESSIVE MUSCLE RELAXATION TECHNIQUES ON SLEEP QUALITY AND PHYSICAL FATIGUE IN THE ELDERLY AT THE FOUNDATION GUNA BUDI BAKTI MEDAN Background: The elderly experience various health problems, one of which is sleep disturbance and physical fatigue. The elderly require handling sleep problems so that optimal sleep needs are met. Ways to improve sleep quality and physical fatigue are progressive muscle relaxation that can overcome or reduce anxiety, reduce pain, reduce muscle and bone tension.Purpose: This study aims to know the effect of progressive muscle relaxation techniques on sleep quality and physical fatigue of the elderly at the Guna Budi Bakti Foundation in Medan.Methods: This research uses quantitative with a quasi-experimental design through the one group pre-test and a post-test design approach. The time of the study was in May 2020. The population is all elderly. The sampling technique uses a saturated sampling technique and a sample of 73 people. Data collection methods used in the form of questionnaires and observation sheets. Univariate data analysis is displayed in the frequency distribution table, and bivariate with statistics using paired t-test. Results: The results of the study get the majority aged 61-80 years, female gender, self-employed work, and Buddhism. Data results before the majority intervention of sleep quality are less, and physical fatigue is high. After majority intervention of sleep quality is sufficient, and physical fatigue is low. The effect of progressive muscle relaxation techniques on sleep quality and physical fatigue of the elderly, using the paired t-test obtained sig values. Cara untuk meningkatkan kualitas tidur dan kelelahan fisik yaitu relaksasi otot progresif yang dapat mengatasi atau mengurang kecemasan, mengurangi nyeri, menurunkan ketegangan otot dan tulang.Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh teknik relaksasi otot progresif terhadap kualitas tidur dan kelelahan fisik lansia di Yayasan Guna Budi Bakti Medan.Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan kuantitatif dengan desain quasi-experiment melalui pendekatan one group pre test and post test design. Waktu penelitian pada bulan Mei 2020. Populasi adalah seluruh lansia. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik sampling jenuh, dan sampel sebanyak 73 orang. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan berupa kuesioner dan lembar observasi. Analisa data univariat ditampilkan dalam tabel distribusi frekuensi, dan bivariat dengan statistik menggunakan uji paired t- test.Hasil Penelitian: Hasil penelitian ini mendapatkan mayoritas berusia 61-80 tahun, berjenis kelamin perempuan, pekerjaan wiraswasta, dan beragama Budha. Hasil data sebelum intervensi mayoritas kualitas tidur kurang, dan kelelahan fisik tinggi. Setelah intervensi mayoritas kualitas tidur cukup, dan kelelahan fisik rendah. Pengaruh teknik relaksasi otot progresif terhadap kualitas tidur dan kelelahan fisik lansia, menggunakan uji paired t- test didapatkan nilai sig. Physiological changes in the elderly can cause a change in the neural system that is a disorder towards sleep quality while changes in the musculoskeletal system are the occurrence of muscle strength decline. Progressive Muscle Relaxation Therapy is a therapy which can improve sleep quality and muscle strength. The purpose of this research is to analyze the effect of progressive muscle relaxation therapy towards muscle strength and sleep quality of the elderly at House Technical Implementation. The research type used is quasi-experiment design with pretest and posttest nonequivalent control group design. The population in this research were all elderly as many as 40 elderly people. The sampling technique used was Total Sampling which was then divided into intervention group which consists of 20 respondents and control group which consists of 20 respondents. The measurement tool used was PSQI (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index) questionnaire for sleep quality and the MMT (Manual Muscle Testing) observation sheet for muscle strength. ABSTRAKMasih tingginya penderita hipertensi merupakan salah satu masalah yang berpengaruh terhadap gaya hidup dan sikap yang mendorong timbulnya hipertensi. Untuk menangani tekanan darah pada penderita hipertensi umumnya minum obat-obatan dari puskesmas, rutinitas ini sering tidak disukai oleh penderita. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektifitas air rebusan daun seledri terhadap perubahan tekanan darah pada lansia di Posyandu Ngudi Konco Desa Donomulyo Kecamatan Donomulyo Kabupaten Malang.Desain penelitian ini Pre-Experimental dengan rancangan One- Group Pre-Post test design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah semua lansia penderita hipertensi di Posyandu Ngudi Konco Desa Donomulyo Kecamatan Donomulyo Kabupaten Malang sebanyak 30 responden. Sampel diambil dengan teknik total sampling. Variabel penelitian yaitu pemberian air rebusan daun seledri sebagai variabel independent dan tekanan darah sebagai variabel dependen. Data yang di dapat melalui lembar observasi tekanan darah kemudian di uji dengan menggunakan uji paired t Test.Hasil uji paired t Test menunjukkan bahwa p = 0,000 α= 0,05 Ho di tolak dan H1 diterima sehingga air rebusan daun seledri efektif terhadap perubahan tekanan darah pada lansia di Posyandu Ngudi Konco Desa Donomulyo Kecamatan Donomulyo Kabupaten Malang.Terdapat penurunan jumlah penderita hipertensi sebelum dan sesudah diberikan air rebusan daun seledri. Responden agar dapat meningkatkan informasi tentang pelaksanaan tekanan darah sehingga dapat mengurangi tekanan darah yang dialami dengan cara non formakologi sehingga responden tidak hanya menggantungkan pada obat-obatan farmakologi dalam menurunkan tekanan darah.Kata kunci : Air Rebusan Daun Seledri, Tekanan Darah, Lansia ABSTRACTStill high hypertension was  one of the problems that affect the lifestyle and attitudes that encourage the emergence of hypertension. Population in this research was all elderly patient of hypertension in Posyandu Ngudi Konco Village Donomulyo District Donomulyo Malang Regency as many as 30 respondents. Samples were taken with total sampling technique. The research variable was giving boiled water of celery leaves as independent variable and blood pressure as dependent variable. The data can be through blood pressure observation sheet then tested by using paired t test.The result of paired t - test showed that p = 0.000 α = 0.05 Ho in rejection and H1 accepted so that boiling water celery leaf effective against blood pressure changes in elderly at Posyandu Ngudi Konco Donomulyo Village Donomulyo District Malang Regency. There was a decrease in the number of hypertensive patients before and after being given boiled water of celery leaves. Pada lansia terjadi perubahan neurologis secara fisiologis mengalami penurunan jumlah dan ukuran neuron pada sistem saraf pusat yang mengakibatkan lansia tidak dapat memenuhi kebutuhan tidur normalnya. Salah satu terapi meningkatkan kualitas tidur pada lansia adalah melakukan pijat tengkuk menggunakan virgin coconut oil . Tujuan Penelitian: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pijat tengkuk dengan VCO terhadap kualitas tidur pada lansia. Metode:Desain penelitian yang digunakan pra eksperimental dengan One-group Pretest – Posttest Design, teknik sampling yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah non Probability Sampling yaitu dengan purposive sampling. Populasi dalam penelitian ini yaitu, 33 responden dan diperoleh sampel sebanyak 15 responden adapun  kriteria inklusi dalam penelitian ini klien dengan gangguan tidur tanpa menggunakan obat penenang atau obat tidur, Klien yang kooperatif dan bersedia menandatangani informed concent, kriteria eksklusi Klien yang memiliki kesadaran composmentis Pelaksanaan penelitian untuk mengukur kualitas tidur diukur dengan Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI) dari. pengukuran kualitas tidur lansia dilakukan sebelum dan sesudah pelaksanaan intervensi. instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu Pittsburgh sleep quality index. Intervensi pijat tengkuk dengan Virgin Coconut Oil ini dilakukan 2 kali dalam satu minggu selama 4 minggu. setelah dilakukan uji normalitas data diperoleh hasil 0,28 yang berarti data berdistribusi normal sehingga analisa menggunakan paired T-test.  Hasil:Hasil penelitian menunjukan kualitas tidur pre tes rerata kualitas tidur sebesar 7,9 dengan standar deviasi 1,4 dan post tes didapatkan rerata kualitas tidur sebesar 4,5 dengan standar deviasi 0,83. Berdasarkan analisa data menggunakan uji paired T-test diperoleh nilai p value = 0,000 <α (0.05) yang artinya ada pengaruh pijat tengkuk dengan Virgin Coconut Oil terhadap kualitas tidur pada lansia. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut, diharapkan lansia dengan masalah kualitas tidur agar rutin melakukan pijat tengkuk dengan VCO  secara teratur dan berkesinambungan. In the elderly, physiological changes occur physiologically decreasing the number and size of neurons in the central nervous system resulting in the elderly unable to meet their normal sleep needs. One of the therapies to improve sleep quality in the elderly is to massage the neck using virgin coconut oil (VCO). This study aims to determine the effect of cervical massage with VCO on sleep quality in the elderly. The research design used was pre-experimental with One-group Pretest - Posttest Design and the number of respondents was 20 people. The results showed sleep quality before being given progressive muscle relaxation therapy obtained an average sleep quality of 7.9 with a standard deviation of 1.4 and after being given progressive muscle relaxation a mean sleep quality of 4.5 with a standard deviation of 0.83. Based on data analysis using the Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test, p value = 0,000 <α (0.05) is obtained, which means there is an effect of nape massage with VCO on sleep quality in the elderly. Based on the results of the study, it is expected that the elderly with sleep quality problems can routinely perform neck massage with VCO regularly and continuously.

Penyakit yang dialami lansia seringkali memperberat tingkat depresi lansia. Penyakit kronis yang sering dijumpai di lansia adalah hipertensi. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui pengaruh senam lansia terhadap tingkat depresi lansia penderita hipertensi. Metode penelitian dengan quasy experiment dengan design penelitian one group pre and post test without control. Teknik sampling menggunakan total sampling yaitu sejumlah 24 orang lansia. Analisa data menggunakan uji paired t test. Hasil uji analisis paired sample t-test pada data pre dan post senam lansia menunjukkan nilai p value 0,000 artinya terdapat pengaruh senam lansia terhadap tingkat depresi lansia penderita hipertensi. Kesimpulannya adalah lansia penderita hipertensi membutuhkan kegiatan aktifitas fisik seperti senam lansia sehingga dapat mencegah depresi yang bisa memperberat kondisi lansia. Diseases experienced by the elderly often complicate the depression level of the elderly. A chronic disease that is often found in the elderly is hypertension. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of elderly exercise on the level of depression in elderly patients with hypertension. The research method is a quasi-experimental research design with one group pre and post test without control. The sampling technique used a total sampling of 24 elderly people. Data analysis using paired t test. The results of the paired sample t-test analysis on the pre and post elderly exercise data showed a p value of 0.000, meaning that there was an influence of elderly exercise on the level of depression in elderly patients with hypertension. The conclusion is that elderly people with hypertension need physical activities such as elderly gymnastics so that they can prevent depression which can aggravate the condition of the elderly.

Gangguan  pemenuhan  kebutuhan tidur sering kali menjadi masalah yang dialami lanjut usia sehingga mengalami penurunan kualitas tidur. Menurunnya kualitas tidur bagi lansia yang tidak ditangani dapat mengakibatkan terjadinya permasalahan lain seperti gangguan memori dan mood, depresi, resiko terjatuh, hingga menurunnya kualitas hidup. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh latihan relaksasi otot progresif terhadap kualitas tidur lansia di Panti Sosial Tresna Werdha Minaula Kendari. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian Pre Experimental Design dengan pendekatan one group pre test-post test design. Populasi adalah seluruh lansia yang terdaftar di Panti sosial Tresna Werdha Minaula tahun 2017 sebanyak 95 orang dan sampel 49 orang, data diperoleh menggunakan kuesioner dan di uji menggunakan uji Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa kualitas tidur lansia sebelum latihan relaksasi otot progresif diperoleh rata-rata skor 6,18 dan setelah dilakukan relaksasi otot progresif diperoleh rata-rata skor 3,84. Hasil analisis statistik diperoleh nilai p value < 0,001. Kesimpulan dalam penelitian ini adalah ada pengaruh latihan relaksasi otot progresif terhadap kualitas tidur lansia di panti sosial Tresna Werdha Minaula Kendari.   Kata kunci: relaksasi otot progresif, kualitas tidur, lansia PROGRESSIVE MUSCLE RELAXATION EXERCISE ON QUALITY OF ELDERLY SLEEP   ABSTRACT Disorders of meeting the needs of sleep are often problems experienced by the elderly resulting in decreased sleep quality. Decreased quality of sleep for the elderly who are not treated can lead to other problems such as impaired memory and mood, depressed, the risk of falling, to decreased quality of life. This study aims to determine the effect of progressive muscle relaxation exercises on the quality of elderly sleep at Tresna Werdha Minaula institution Kendari. This research is Pre Experimental Design with one group pre-test-post test design. Population is all elderly registered in Tresna Werdha Minaula year 2017 were 95 people and sample 49 people, data obtained using questionnaire and tested using wilcoxon sign rank test. The results showed that the elderly sleep quality before progressive muscle relaxation exercise obtained an average score of 3.84 and after progressive muscle relaxation obtained an average score of 6.18. The result of statistical analysis obtained p value <0,001. The conclusion of this research is that there is an effect of progressive muscle relaxation training on the quality of elderly sleep at Tresna Werdha Minaula Institution Kendari.   Keywords: progressive muscle relaxation, sleep quality, elderly

Background: Middle adulthood (40-59 years) is a transition period from early adulthood to late adulthood (elderly) which is marked by several changes, including physical / biological, mental, cognitive changes. This change has the potential to cause stress. This study aims to determine whether there is an effect of the provision of Progressive Muscle Relaxation / Progressive Muscle Relaxation on Stress Levels in middle-aged adult mothers in Ngegot villages, Selokaton, Gondangrejo, Karanganyar. The sampling technique in this study is to use total sampling. The number of samples in this study amounted to 26 respondents. This research is a type of pre-experimental research with one group pre-test and post-test design methods. Methods: The data analysis method used was a paired sample t-test statistical test technique with the help of SPSS 17.0. Data normality test used is by Shapiro-Wilk. Results: From the results of the analysis of the research data the normality of the data obtained the significance value with Shapiro-Wilk in the pre-test of 0.388 (p> 0.005) and post test of 0.073 (p> 0.005). Significance Value of the Effect of Progressive Muscle Relaxation Against Stress in middle adult mothers in Ngegot, Selokaton, Gondangrejo, Karanganyar villages with paired sample t-test analysis p = 0.001.Conclusion:  The results of this study indicate that there is an effect of Progressive Muscle Relaxation on Stress Levels in middle adult mothers in Ngegot, Selokaton, Gondangrejo, Karanganyar hamlets.

ABSTRAKSri NyumirahAkademi Keperawatan Pasar Reboe-mail : [email protected] Gangguan istirahat dan tidur merupakan keluhan utama yang sering dialami lansia, dengan perkiraan lebih dari setengah jumlah lansia yang berusia di atas 65 Tahun yang tinggal di rumah dan sekitar dua pertiga jumlah lansia yang berada dalam fasilitas perawatan jangka panjang mengalami kesulitan tidur. Pada proses penuaan yang mempengaruhi terjadinya perubahan pola tidur karena faktor lingkungan, faktor bilogis dan faktor psikososial. Banyak penelitian yang telah dilakukan bahwa hubungan mekanisme tidur dan terjaga dengan penuaan, walaupun tidur dan terjaga memiliki spektrum perilaku yang sangat berbeda, keduanya diyakini telah diatur oleh sebagian kecil fungsi fisiologis umum dan mekanisme neurokimiawi (Maas dkk, 2014). Menurut Herodes (2010) teknik relaksasi otot progresif adalah teknik relaksasi otot dalam yang tidak memerlukan imajinasi, ketekunan, atau sugesti. Berdasarkan keyakinan bahwa tubuh manusia berespons pada kecemasan dan kejadian yang merangsang pikiran dengan ketegangan otot. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian teknik relaksasi otot progresif terhadap pemenuhan kebutuhan istirahat tidur pada lansia di Panti Werdha Budi Mulya 1 Cipayung Jakarta Timur. Desain penelitian pra-post test dalam satu kelompok (one group pre-post test design). Sampel berjumlah 28  lansia dengan tehnik pengambilan sampel accidental sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ada pengaruh terapi relaksasi otot progresif terhadap kebutuhan istirahat dan tidur lansia (p value0,05). Pemenuhan kebutuhan istirahat tidur sesudah dilaksanakan teknik relaksasi otot pada lansia di Panti Werdha sebagian besar terpenuhi. Research design pre-post test in one group (one group pre-post test design). The sample consisted of 28 elderly with accidental sampling technique. The results showed that there was an effect of progressive muscle relaxation therapy on the need for rest and sleep in the elderly (p value 0.05). Most of the fulfillment of the need for sleep rest after the implementation of muscle relaxation techniques in the elderly at the Nursing Home is fulfilled. The high uncontrolled blood glucose level in people with Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is still often found that is resulted from the factor of psychological stress. One of the interventions to help normalize the blood glucose level is progresive muscle relaxation (PMR). Therefore, this research was purposed to find out the effect of PMR towards blood glucose level in patients with DM type 2 (DMT2). This research was pre-experimental done by applying one group pretest posttest design. The population involved all patients with DMT2 without complications hospitalized in Surabaya Islamic General Hospital, in which 22 respondents were taken as the samples by using simple random sampling technique. The independent variable was PMR, whereas the dependent one was blood glucose level. The instrument used to measure blood glucose level was a glucometer. Moreover, the data were analyzed by using paired T-test with the significance level of α = 0.05. The result of research showed that before receiving PMR, the average blood glucose level was 238.40 mg/dl, whereas before receiving PMR, the average blood glucose level was 125.68 mg/dl. Moreover, the result of Paired T-test showed that p = 0.000 < 0.05 so that H0 was rejected, illustrating that there was an effect of PMR toward blood glucose level before and after receiving PMR Discussion: In conclusion, PMR could decrease blood glucose level Therefore, the nurses in hospital should be able to do PMR done at home to balance blood glucose level in patients with DMT2 so that they can be more relaxed and independent.

Sleep is an important aspect for maintaining a healthy body. This study aims to determine the effect of progressive muscle relaxation on sleep patterns in the elderly in Daleman Hamlet Poreh Village Lenteng District. Research design pre experiment use one group pre-post test design.The population in this study is elderly in Dusun Daleman Village Poreh Lenteng District as many as 103 people with a sample of 30 people. The sampling technique used is proporsive sampling. Using statistical tests Wilcoxon with α 0,05.The result of the research before progressive muscle relaxation in elderly mostly experienced bad sleep pattern asmuch as (63%) that is 19 people, then after progressive muscle relaxation there was improvement of good sleep pattern as much as 60% that is 18 people.The result of data analysis using Wilcoxon test obtained p = 0,000 (<0,05) which mean there is influence of progressive muscle relaxation to sleep pattern at elderly in Daleman hamlet Porah Village Lenteng Subdistrict.Progressive muscle relaxation may be used in the elderly especially those experiencing poor sleep patterns, as progressive muscle relaxation may facilitate sleep can also be usefulfor anxiety, reduce fatigue, muscle cramps and neck and back pain so as to improve comfort during sleep.Keywords: Progressive Muscle, Sleep Pattern, Elderly

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of progressive muscle relaxation to improve sleep quality in the elderly who has insomnia in the Unggahan Village, Buleleng Regency. This research method is a quantitative study with a pre experiment research design with one group design pre-post test design. The results showed statistically, progressive muscle relaxation was effective to improve sleep quality in elderly women with a value of p = 0,000 or p <α (0.05). Conclusion, progressive muscle relaxation is effective in increasing sleep quality in the elderly who live at home.   Keywords: Sleep Quality, Elderly, Progressive Muscle Relaxation
