Promotion of “green” economy, that assumes increasing of the population welfare, social justice and improving of environmental quality, is one of the most important trends in the development of many countries including Russia. For our country building of “green” economy is also linked to the modernization and breaking with export-dependence on raw materials. Higher education institutions could contribute to the development of this process: traditionally both in the world and in Russia at universities environmental initiatives could be implemented and future environmental leaders could grow. To speed up the transition to of “green” economy we have proposed an approach “University as a model of “green” economy”. It is based on the possibility of developing, testing and further replication of “green” technologies at universities – in the areas of energy efficiency, waste management, eco-friendly transport, etc. We carried out the analysis of the pilot projects in the field of “green” economy – two cases of separate waste collection: in the Main building of Lomonosov Moscow State University (LMSU) and the LMSU branch in Sevastopol. We conclude that there is a significant potential of the implementation of “green” technologies for the development of “green” economy and for the development of universities themselves.

The aim of the so-called ‘speed-up’ reform is to cut the time available for students to complete their university studies. One consequence of the reform is the increased requirement for flexibility within the Danish higher education system. To cope with the reform, the system will need to facilitate transfer of credits and make it easier for students to compose more personalized learning portfolios, which can include courses from different institutions and study programmes. The article discusses the possible implications of this new approach to steering students through the higher education system: What happens when we allow the individual student to compose a personal profile from different modules with no intentional progression between them? Will the students’ increased freedom serve to motivate them, make them complete their studies more quickly and make them more fit for the labour market like the Danish government presumes? Or will this be at the expense of leaving students with fragmented knowledge and superficial understandings as suggested by the critics?

Prior research has reflected various conceptualizations of internationalization in higher education and offered various perspectives on its activities and practices which in result have produced different pragmatic outcomes. In the 21st century, higher education institutions (HEIs) are progressively mobile as well as globally competitive and in response practices and strategies adopted by HEIs needed to reshape in global context. The present study is the qualitative study based on prior literature and reveals a comprehensive review about the factors influencing internationalization practices. The present study contributed to the existing literature by illustrating a conceptual framework to enhance the investment in internationalization activities by HEIs. It is argued that effectiveness of internationalization depend on the rise of internationalization at home activities, student/staff exchange programs, expanding ventures and institutional networks and alliances. The study is prominently significant for HEIs as it is offering practical suggestions to speed up internationalization process.

This study aimed to investigate the lecturer' perspectives during COVID-19 pandemic in higher education. The participants have consisted of 8 from various universities in Indonesia. In this study, researchers chose narrative analysis as a research approach. A narrative analysis was used to explore lecturer perspectives or views on e-learning based on the practices, challenges, and prospects during COVID-19 pandemic. Based on the lecturers' perspective, the researchers concluded that online learning applications are beneficial for some lecturers to deliver lecture material without face to face, although there are some obstacles such as inadequate internet access. Some campuses provide self-developed applications to facilitate teaching lecturers and provide access to students to study lecture material. Some teachers also used online learning service provider applications or third parties such as Youtube, Zoom, Google Meet, Google Classroom and other online applications. Overall lecturers in universities can use existing learning applications. Efforts are needed to develop further, train, and improve infrastructure facilities to support online learning in the future. Online learning has high prospects and potential to be applied due to its extremely related to technological developments and ever-changing times wherever everything is quick and economical.

YouTube™ is an online video sharing Web site that is increasingly used in higher education classrooms. In addition presenting content on many diverse topics, YouTube™ rapidly became a rich source of clinical illustrations with relevance for the speech-language pathology classroom. Although professors in health education now take advantage of this resource, no documentation exists regarding students' reactions to the use of YouTube™ in the classroom. The purpose of this study was to survey students' opinions regarding the use of YouTube™ in the classroom. Videos from YouTube™ augmented lecture material in four speech-language pathology classrooms. At the end of the semester, students rated their opinions of the professor’s use of YouTube™ in the classroom and the contribution of the Web site to their classroom experience. All 104 students in the classes surveyed responded. A majority of students reported increased understanding, interest in, and retention of the classroom material due to use of videos on YouTube™.

Introduction This paper will be the first in a series outlining the contemporary use of educational technology in paramedic higher education. This paper describes a pilot study, which examines the student use of podcasting service within a Bachelor of Emergency Health (BEH) degree. The aim of this study is to report student usage patterns of the podcasting service as well as any perceived advantages or disadvantages to podcasting. Methods Second and third year undergraduate paramedic students (n=67) were surveyed with respect to their use of the podcasting service in 2006. An annual audit of students’ learning needs was taken from 2006-2008 with respect to relevant general student profile information. Results Almost two-thirds n=42 (62.7%) of the students did not download the Podcast lecture material. Of those that did, twenty students (29.9%) used Podcasts for reviewing lecture content; only two (3%) as a substitute to attending the lecture. Students described positive benefits as well as difficulties with the technology; seventeen (25.4%) reported revising concepts which they had not understood. The audit demonstrated that in Semester 1, 2008, 83% of students owned iPods or equivalent. Conclusion While only a minority of BEH students listened to the podcast lectures, those that did reported use for revision of theoretical concepts and revision for examinations. Podcasting appears to have significant potential for mobile learning (m-learning) allowing some students the capacity to utilise their study time more effectively. Podcasting may well prove useful for particular students, and should be given some qualified support.
