The article gives an overview of open badges, a type of micro-credentials spreading lately in Europe applied to recognize non-formal and informal learning actions and outcomes. Open badges are viewed by many experts as the greatest potential for a reliable presentation of skills gained outside the formal education system, in many cases in adult learning. Specifically, open badges very often record and prove the acquisition of so called 21st century skills (i.e. communication, creativity, cooperation and critical thinking) considered by a large majority of the employers as a significant aspect of selection. What exactly digital open badges are? How, by whom and to whom are they awarded? How is the validity of information and the quality of content represented by the badges assured? To what extent are the employers aware of the value of open badges, and how much individuals know how they can capitalize on the collection of their badges? The article attempts to offer some views on the above questions by structuring the relevant findings and outcomes of the Open Badge Network and the ReOpen projects.

Twenty-first century learners are media-centric and heavily reliant on technology. Internet-accessible resources are always at the students’ finger-tips and they learn through such resources anywhere, anytime. Unfortunately, formal education in most part of Asia remains largely examination focused given the immense pressure to obtain paper qualifications. Our challenge today is how do we make students learn on their own volition? How do we then sustain learning when the education system is still very much examination-centric? Success in learning is not always dependent on the ways students are taught in the classroom or the tools they use to learn but can be very much affected by the learners’ affective characteristics. This paper highlights two selected affective characteristics — attitudes and interest, as previous and current literature continue to suggest their positive impact on student behavior including learning.

Beekeeping is a highly skilled form of animal husbandry that dates back to centuries. It has become a popular hobby in the United Kingdom, but as an activity has rarely featured in geographical research. In this article, I present beekeeping as an interesting site of study for cultural geographers interested in enskilment processes, education and expertise. This article draws on in-depth ethnographic research with a community of hobby beekeepers in Lancashire, United Kingdom, to give a detailed analysis of the enskilment process of novice beekeepers, how this process is being shaped and influenced by a trend towards increasingly formal education tools within the community, and what this means for those interested in the power of skilled practice and expertise. In doing so, it explores issues around formal and informal learning environments, the role of social context in shaping learning, the power of government advice, and it illustrates the complexity introduced by close engagement with an insect.

STEM education is a direction chosen by the Ministry of Education and Training in recent years to train learners with the necessary skills of the 21st century, which helps learners meet the increasing demand for human resources. In the 4.0 era, the problem of developing students’ abilities is an urgent matter. The competencies that students need to develop include general and specialized competencies. In the specialized competencies, the capacity to practice has a particularly important role. Developing the capacity to practise natural sciences of 8th graders is an urgent issue to improve the quality of current education in Vietnam to meet the reform’s requirements of the general education program.

The students with different backgrounds having habituated to different type of teaching methods and ter-minologies are joining Ayurveda education and there is big mismatch between their expectation, perception and actual teaching and training. Teaching and learning process in Ayurveda colleges has not much changed in spite of availability of technological tools. There will be need of dynamic continuum between research, education and practice. Better teaching techniques and modernization of Ayurveda education will improve the clinical and academic output, which in turn make them able to be presentable for ayurvedic principles. So, in order to convert Ayurveda to global level from the traditional way, it is necessary to adopt the latest technological tools and scientific framework in Ayurveda education. There will be urgent need to update and modernize the education system of Ayurveda and make the curriculum which is student centric and teacher should be facilitator. A multi-disciplinary approach in education system will be better for Indi-an system of medicine where some teachers from pharmaceutical chemistry, analytical chemistry, botany, phyto chemistry etc. will be appointed in institutions to provide the required trainings. Quality of institu-tions are very important concern in Ayurveda education sector. Quality of teachers also play very im-portant role in providing quality education to students because only through good education a relatively permanent change in personality of individuals is achieved in cognitive, psychomotor and affective do-mains. There is need to involve many other modern research methods in Ayurveda such as PIP and EIS. Medical informatics, Cyber medicine, Computerized Ayurveda studies will be brought revolutionary changes in the background of Ayurveda professionals.

In recent years, Portuguese universities have diversified their strategies for the promotion of entrepreneurial education among (under/post) graduates, both through formal education and non- formal and informal activities. Indeed, Higher Education Institutions can provide entrepreneurial learning opportunities for students, stimulating new attitudes and behaviours towards entrepreneurship. In terms of non-formal and informal learning, various types of activity are of particular significance, and include entrepreneurship promotion and skills-based training, as well as monitoring of the development of ideas and projects. These activities are undertaken by various higher education stakeholders and key-actors, who contribute to the construction of an entrepreneurial ecosystem, and increase entrepreneurial spirit in (under/post) graduates. The research reported here is based on the main findings gathered from the ongoing project "Entrepreneurial Learning, Cooperation and the Labour Market: Good Practices in Higher Education (POAT-FSE)", focusing particularly on the results of a survey questionnaire completed by a diverse sample of entities linked to Portuguese public Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and working to promote non-formal and informal entrepreneurial activities, as well as a set of case studies carried out regarding examples of best practice in Portuguese Higher Education. In doing so, this paper aims to highlight the importance of non-formal and informal learning, and to contribute to reflection on the added value of inter-organizational cooperation and collaborative work.

However, 77% of them responded that the process of concreting was good. Similarly, there were a lot of problems in workmanship. Quality in ingredients was not taken in due consideration and dosage of ingredients varies from batch to batch and placement was done in segment wise for slab and beam. Compaction as well as curing was inadequate. Lack of formal education, inadequate guidance and training, proper skill and knowledge about NBC of Nepal among the workers involved directly in concrete production was making concrete production inconsistent and uncontrolled.
