Introduction: Non infectious disease is a major health problem especially in developing countries. Among those, stroke always be the leading one that occurs followed by health burden.  Some factors in increasing of mortality and disability due to stroke are lack of understanding of risk factors and awareness to early signs especially among people with hypertension. If the factors those influence the knowledge, awareness, and others stroke alert behaviors are known, promotive or prevention acts could be done by health workers. Aims: The aim of this study is to find out the stroke alert behavior among them that conducted at Puskesmas Cengkareng of West Jakarta on July and August 2020. Method: 116 patients were participated to fill the questionnaire and analyzed with cross-sectional design. Results: Our study revealed that knowledge, perception of utility, and perception to level of disease severity is the most influenced factor to stroke alert behavior.

AbstractGlioma is the most common primary brain tumor, and is a major health problem throughout the world. Today, researchers have discovered many risk factors that are associated with the initiation and progression of gliomas. Studies have shown that PIWI-interacting RNAs (piRNAs) and PIWI proteins are involved in tumorigenesis by epigenetic mechanisms. Hence, it seems that piRNAs and PIWI proteins may be potential prognostic, diagnostic or therapeutic biomarkers in the treatment of glioma. Previous studies have demonstrated a relationship between piRNAs and PIWI proteins and some of the molecular and cellular pathways in glioma. Here, we summarize recent evidence and evaluate the molecular mechanisms by which piRNAs and PIWI proteins are involved in glioma.

AbstractMalaria remains an overwhelming problem with around 214 million cases reported worldwide each year. It remains a major health problem in the tropical developing countries and India accounts for 70% of the total malaria incidence in the Southeast Asia region. Even though, artesunate, a novel drug used in the treatment of chloroquine-resistant cases of Plasmodium falciparum infection causes transient transaminitis (elevation of alanine and aspartate transaminases), hepatitis and hepatic encephalopathy are very rare. We encountered a child with falciparum malaria, who accidently ingested artesunate tablets (16 mg/kg) and developed hepatic encephalopathy with clinical and biochemical improvement in a matter of 4 to 5 days. There are only a few reports of children with malaria developing hepatic encephalopathy, with or without coinfection with hepatotropic viruses. Also, there are no reports of hepatic encephalopathy secondary to artesunate overdose, creating a dilemma in diagnosis and management.

Tetanus infection has remained a major health problem in the third world countries despite the availability and accessibility of effective antibodies as vaccines. The knowledge of women about the diseases may affect their behavior with regards to prevention of the disease. This was a descriptive cross sectional study to assess the knowledge and behavior towards tetanus toxoid immunization by 252 antenatal clinic attendees in two health facilities Uyo metropolis. The majority of respondents had heard about Tetanus infection 247(98.1%) and tetanus toxoid (97.2%), with Health workers being the main source of information 213 (85.9%). Most, 228(90.5%) knew it is for prevention, while only 80 (31.7%) were aware 5 doses confer lifetime immunity.  Most of the women 236 (93.7%) had received at least a dose of TT; 123(52.1%) had up to 5 doses, while 184(78%) claimed they had completed the immunisation schedule. The commonest reason some had not received any was its not being offered to them (31.3%). There was a global positive attitude towards TT immunisation. The level of education but not age of respondents was statistically associated with being immunized (P=0.001).The study showed a fairly good awareness of tetanus infection and immunisation with   misconceptions and a good disposition unmatched by practice. There is therefore the need for proper health education especially on the number of doses, intervals/ schedules, the protection offered, as well as need for the evaluation of the content of health enlightenment information provided by health personnel to mothers attending ANCs

Ingestion of organophosphate compound for suicidal attempt is a major health problem in developing countries. However, unintentional ingestion by an adult is rare. An 80-year-old lady and her 30-year-old granddaughter consumed phorate (organophosphate) granules thinking it to be the seeds of sesame. After grinding the granules and mixing with pickle, they consumed the preparation with rice. The granddaughter was brought dead at emergency department and the older lady after resuscitation shifted to intensive care unit. She was extubated on 17th day and discharged on 23rd day. Pesticide formulation resembling any edible items must be withdrawn from the market at the earliest. Stringent regulation on vendors, apparent formulation or packaging and education about the hazards of these compounds can prevent this type of unintentional poisoning. Keywords: Ambiguous, organophosphate, phorate, sesame seeds, unintentional poisoning.

Background: Hypertension is a leading cause of cardiovascular diseases in both developed and developing countries. In recent time the epidemiological transition of countries from communicable diseases to non-communicable diseases had increased its importance. Hypertension had been ranked as a top five cause of mortality in Nepal. Assessment of knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) is a crucial element ofhypertension control, but little information is available from developing countries where hypertension has lately been recognized as a major health problem. Objectives: To assess knowledge level, attitude and preventive practices regarding hypertension among 40 years and above population residing in Mahadevsthan, Kathmandu. Methodology: A cross sectional analytical study was conducted using Probability Proportionate Sampling (PPS) in 9 wards of Mahadevsthan, Kathmandu. Interview was done with closed ended Questionnaire for data collection among 165 respondents aged 40 years and above. Results:The study shows that the distribution of hypertension among respondents to be 22.4%. The mean age of respondents was 55 years with maximum of 97 years. The average knowledge score was 12.9 out of total 41 score. More than half of respondents i.e. 52.1% had a good knowledge on hypertension.
