This research is devoted to the study of the linguo-cognitive specifics of the linguistic nominations of manifestations of love in the poem “La steaua” by M. Eminescu. The study of linguistic representations of the concept of love as multifaceted and ambiguous from the point of view of its emotional nature of feelings on the material of a poetic work is interdisciplinary by its nature, being at the junction of such scientific disciplines as: cognitive linguistics, literature and psycholinguistics. The purpose of the study is to identify and study the verbalized fragments of the image “love” in the poem “La steaua” by M. Eminescu and to establish their associative-figurative potential. To achieve the above-mentioned goal, a number of tasks were outlined: to identify and classify the key conceptual dominants of the poem “La steaua” by M. Eminescu; to establish the structure and semantic content of the image of love in the poem by describing its frame structure; to determine the individual author’s specificity of the interpretation of the artistic image of love on the material of the analyzed poem. As a result of our research, we identify frame structures that are activated by verbal units and convey a specific stereotypical situation. We come to the conclusion that the features of the verbal embodiment of frame structures are directly related to the individual author’s perception of the image of love, his personal and emotional characteristics, as well as culturally determined associations with the concept of love.

«Happiness» is one of the most significant cultural universals, semantically related to the concepts of the spiritual life of a man, the most important element performing meaning-forming and plot-forming role in an artistic work. The study of the reflection of notions about happiness in the autobiographical prose of V. Nabokov in the context of the literary and cultural situation of the first wave of Russian emigration is defined by the specifics of autobiography as a text that is created at the end of life and involves its recognition from the point of view of a person summing up intermediate or final results. The article analyzes the artistic concept «happiness» in the autobiographical prose of V. Nabokov; it determines its individual author’s content that is correlated with the general cultural content of the concept. The article is devoted to the study of the concept «happiness» as a complex emotional and value formation which reflects the universal artistic experience, recorded in the cultural memory, expresses the individual author’s understanding of the essence of objects and phenomena. The conceptual component of the word «happiness» in the creativity of V. Nabokov includes the harmonious fullness of life, freedom, the gift of creativity, the happiness of childhood, family, the hearth, the happiness of love and marriage, the enjoyment of life and its joys, a reflection of the personal history of upbringing and testing. The concept «happiness» implements not only semantic, but also axiological possibilities, reflecting both the own characteristics of the subject of the artistic image and the features of idiostyle of the writer.

The relevance of the chosen problem is determined by the lack in the scientific sources of any approach to graphic signs as a system of units of musical text, which reflects its content, and wider – serves as indicator of the individual style properties of the author of the musical work. The purpose of the article is to reveal with specific reference of certain conditions in which the communication of the composer and the performer is carried out by means of understanding the functional and semantic content of graphic signs. The choice of research methods are determined by the existing approaches to reading of the graphic signs and their role in the interpretation process. In this regard we involve the materials of the works of D. Blagoy, A. Sokol, S. Feinberg, M. Venable. Analytical observations concerning disclosure of the functional and semantic meaning of the studied phenomena became the results of the research. The conclusions propose classification of graphic signs in accordance with the purpose of their use by composer. Two groups of graphic signs are identified: slurs and dynamic signs («<» and «>»), which contain information about the structural and procedural principles of the musical text organization. The interaction of graphic signs with pitch and rhythmic ones has been discovered. In the contextual field of J. Brahms’ piano pieces, graphic signs are intended to warn interpreters against approach to the musical text from the point of view of the usual representations, limited to such considerations as the natural attraction to the reference tones or a strong proportion of tact. The logic of the musical process within a single theme or a phrase may be subject to other laws in Brahms’ musical texts, which are conditioned by the movement of the interior meaning. Thanks to graphic signs, the rhythmic structure of the theme reveals certain measure of freedom due to alternating strong and weak beats, and in the texture – certain temporary independence of voices in relation to each other. Thus, graphic signs in J. Brahms’ piano pieces are not additional, but decisive factors in many ways for understanding of the composer’s thought, which allows us to see in them some special form of manifestation of the author’s stylistic properties.

The paper deals with the cognitive approach to terminology, according to which the term is considered as part of a dynamic language model for special purposes, which dialectically combines a stable sign form with constant rethinking of the meaning. The semantic variation of the term is caused by both the complexity of the term’s semantics and the dialectical character of cognition. The research is aimed at the revelation and linguistic substantiation of the differences in the conceptual contents the term cosmism demonstrates in different branches of knowledge. In order to solve the above-mentioned scientific task, the contextual definitions of the term are analyzed and the similarities and differences in the functioning and meaning of the term are revealed depending on different discourse types such as the religious-philosophical, philosophical, natural-science as well as literary and art discourse. The comparison of the conceptual meanings of the term cosmism in languages for special purposes has shown that cosmism as a philosophical term can comprise historical and subjective semantic components which reflect the development of philosophical thought within the framework of a certain movement or of an individual world view (cosmism in Ancient Greek philosophy, Spinoza’s cosmism, the late cosmism, Berdyaev’s cosmism). The transformation of the term’s semantic structure in philosophical discourse does not affect the conceptual meaning including the basic slots which remain preserved in all systems of terminology without exception. However, the slot structure and the semantic connection between them may be different: in most conceptions, the universal, or cosmic, principle prevails over the individual one, while in Berdyaev’s individual terminology, a term selection can be observed and the slot ‘subordination’ is replaced through the slot ‘equality’. This statement is the evidence of the fact that cosmism is a variously interpreted philosophical term whose definitive variation is determined by a certain philosop hical term system, including the one of an individual author. The term can be interpreted in a broad sense (the philosophical understanding of cosmism) and a narrow sense (the natural-science understanding of cosmism in Tsiolkovsky’s and Vernadsky’s works). Beyond the philosophical discourse, the term is frequently used as a concept in the study of literature, where it denotes different types of poetic worldview (Tyutchev’s cosmism, Esenin’s cosmism). Besides, the term cosmism belongs to the closed term system as a denomination for the Proletarian poetry movement in the years 1918–1925 (the works of Proletkult poets). The above-mentioned interpretational variants are united by a common significant semantic component which includes the basic semes: the Human, the Universe, and the way of intercommunication between them. From an extralinguistic point of view, the semantic variation of the term is determined by a current of scientific thought and a trend for spiritual development, while linguistically it is caused by the rearrangement and addition of slots into the term’s frame structure. The research is based on texts which contain the term cosmism. Sources containing the lexicographic representation of the term (like dictionaries or encyclopedias) have not been used for the purpose of analysis since there is no source of such kind that would be able to fully reflect the semantic variation of the term.

The article considers the correlation of cognitive linguistics key notions, such as "frame" and "concept". The frame is presented as a structure of data or knowledge about any notion, concept – as a complicated and multidimensional mental complex, which in addition to the notional basis also has socio-psycho-cultural component. Interpretation of the concept implies that it has a wide semantic field. A frame with its clearer structure can be used to model or structure the concept, i.e. the concept can be represented as a frame structure. A description of the experience of modeling the LIFE concept using a frame structure by identifying subframes and analyzing their deployment in Amelie Notomb's novel "The Character of Rain" is presented. According to the method of semantic-cognitive frames analysis of a fictional work, it is determined that the frame structure of the LIFE concept unites 9 slots (mental nodes of the frame structure): EXISTENCE, MOVEMENT, DESTRUCTION OFDREAM, DEGRADATION, EMPTINESS, DEVELOPMENT, INDEPENDENCE, DISAPPOINTMENT, SUICIDE. Deployment of the LA VIE frame, which goes in the direction of such subframes as L’EXISTENCE, LE MOUVEMENT, LA DESTRUCTION DU RÊVE, is reflected in the subframes DÉGRADATION, LE VIDE, LE DÉVELOPPEMENT, L’INDÉPENDANCE, LA DÉCEPTION, LE SUICIDE. This process is due to the fact that the life of a person who feels nothing and rejoices in nothing is an existence: miserable, ordinary, boring, meaningless. EXISTENCE, invaded by a disease, sooner or later leads to the DEGRADATION in all spheres of activity. The result is EMPTINESS, everything becomes the same: it does not matter if something bad or, conversely, something joyful occurs. MOVEMENT is an important component of a full life. It leads to the DEVELOPMENT of both: physical and individual development in society. Movement means autonomy, and as a consequence, INDEPENDENCE. DISAPPOINTMENT appears when you realize, that people you are closest to do not understand you at all: they have no idea what you enjoy, what makes you laugh, what is a pleasure for you and what you are capable of. When you realize that society does not need you, when you are deprived of what you are used to and of what is most precious to you in the world, it leads to SUICIDE. These subframes are reflected in the DREAM DESTRUCTION subframe. Involvement of semantic-cognitive methods complex in the study of frames reveals their cognitive-communicative dynamics. Thus, underlying semantic processes that take place in the literary text, reflect the tendency to unfold the frames. We can assume that the frame structure of the LIFE concept is the result of generalization of the vocabulary meaning of the word and the individual author's sphere of concepts.

The purpose and tasks of the work are to analyze the contemporary Ukrainian mass culture in terms of its value and humanistic components, as well as the importance of cultural studies and Ukrainian studies in educational disciplines for the formation of a holistic worldview of modern youth.Analysis of research and publications. Scientists repeatedly turned to the problems of the role of spirituality in the formation of society and its culture. This problem is highlighted in the publications by O. Losev, V. Lytvyn, D. Likhachev, S. Avierintsev, M. Zakovych, I. Stepanenko and E. Kostyshyn.Experts see the main negative impact of mass culture on the quality approach, which determines mass culture through the market, because mass culture, from our point of view, is everything that is sold and used in mass demand. One of the most interesting studies on this issue was the work by the representatives of Frankfurt School M. Horkheimer and T. Adorno «Dialectics of Enlightenment» (1947), devoted to a detailed analysis of mass culture. Propaganda at all socio-cultural levels in the form is similar in both totalitarian and democratic countries. It is connected, according to the authors, with the direction of European enlightenment. The tendency to unify people is a manifestation of the influence of mass culture, from cinema to pop. Mass culture is a phenomenon whose existence is associated with commerce (accumulation in any form – this is the main feature of education), in general, the fact that it exists in this form is related to the direction of the history of civilization.Modern mass culture, with its externally attractive and easily assimilated ideas and symbols, appealing to the trends of modern fashion, becomes a standard of prestigious consumption, does not require intense reflection, allows you to relax, distract, not teach, but entertains, preaches hedonism as the main spiritual value. And as a consequence, there are socio-cultural risks: an active rejection of other people, which leads to the formation of indifference; cruelty as a character trait; increase of violent and mercenary crime; increase in the number of alcohol and drug addicts; anti-patriotism; indifference to the values of the family and as a result of social orphanhood and prostitution. Conclusions, perspectives of research. Thus, we can conclude that modern Ukrainian education is predominantly formed by the values of mass culture. Namely, according to the «Dialectic» by Horkheimer and Adorno, «semi-enlightenment becomes an objective spirit» of our modern society. It is concluded that only high-quality education can create the opposite of the onset of mass culture and the destruction of spirituality in our society. It is proved that only by realizing the importance of cultivating disciplines in the educational process and the spiritual upbringing of the nation, through educational reforms, humanitarian knowledge will gradually return to student audiences.Formation of youth occurs under the influence of social environment, culture, education and self-education. The optimal combination of these factors determines both the process of socialization itself and how successful it will be. In this context, one can see the leading role of education and upbringing. It turns out that the main task of modern education is to spread its influence on the development of spiritual culture of the individual, which eventually becomes a solid foundation for the formation of the individual. Such a subject requires both philosophical and humanitarian approaches in further integrated interdisciplinary research, since the availability of such research will provide the theoretical foundation for truly modern educational and personal development.

This is a personal and reflective piece written from a clinician's point of view on the influence that the developing awareness around the consequences of childhood adversity has had upon the discussions, thinking and practice across the areas in which they are working. It seeks to argue that the increased understanding and recognition of the potential impact of early adversity can not only enhance and deepen the understanding of an individual's difficulties, but can serve to inform how services respond in a way that takes account of this. It suggests that the research and literature on childhood adversity can offer a route map away from a model of mental health that focuses predominantly on the individual as the sole source of interest.

BACKGROUND: This paper deals with territorial distribution of the alcohol and drug addictions mortality at a level of the districts of the Slovak Republic. AIM: The aim of the paper is to explore the relations within the administrative territorial division of the Slovak Republic, that is, between the individual districts and hence, to reveal possibly hidden relation in alcohol and drug mortality. METHODS: The analysis is divided and executed into the two fragments – one belongs to the female sex, the other one belongs to the male sex. The standardised mortality rate is computed according to a sequence of the mathematical relations. The Euclidean distance is employed to compute the similarity within each pair of a whole data set. The cluster analysis examines is performed. The clusters are created by means of the mutual distances of the districts. The data is collected from the database of the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic for all the districts of the Slovak Republic. The covered time span begins in the year 1996 and ends in the year 2015. RESULTS: The most substantial point is that the Slovak Republic possesses the regional disparities in a field of mortality expressed by the standardised mortality rate computed particularly for the diagnoses assigned to the alcohol and drug addictions at a considerably high level. However, the female sex and the male sex have the different outcome. The Bratislava III District keeps absolutely the most extreme position. It forms an own cluster for the both sexes too. The Topoľčany District bears a similar extreme position from a point of view of the male sex. All the Bratislava districts keep their mutual notable dissimilarity. Contrariwise, evaluation of a development of the regional disparities among the districts looks like notably heterogeneously. CONCLUSIONS: There are considerable regional discrepancies throughout the districts of the Slovak Republic. Hence, it is necessary to create a common platform how to proceed with the solution of this issue.

This article presents a comprehensive analysis of the basic concepts that make up the conceptual sphere of the novel “Of Human Bondage” by W. S. Maugham. These concepts act as cognitive dominants of the linguistic consciousness of the protagonist’s linguistic personality in the work under study. The novelty of this research lies in the fact that it is performed within the framework of a new paradigm of linguistics — the cognitive linguistics, which involves the study of mental and linguistic representations of thought processes that occur during the perception of information. Moreover, the novel “Of Human Bondage” by W. S. Maugham has not attracted the attention of linguists-cognitologists previously, which adds to the novelty of this article. In addition, the present study provides a comprehensive description of the basic concepts making up the conceptual sphere of the novel. The linguistic methods of representing various concepts in the analyzed work are determined by the national, personal, cultural, and psychological aspects of Maugham’s thinking. The authors employ a communicative-cognitive methodological analysis proposed by N. S. Bolotnova involving the modeling of textual and intertextual semantic fields of artistic concepts and the analysis of the conceptual sphere of a literary text. The universal concepts RELIGION, LOVE, PASSION, THE MEANING OF LIFE, which constitute the conceptual sphere of the novel by W. S. Maugham “Of Human Bondage”, are analyzed. The main result of the study is that THE MEANING OF LIFE concept is universal, not individual, and it includes other universal concepts, such as RELIGION, LOVE, PASSION, THE MEANING OF LIFE, conceptual metaphors and metonyms, symbols, and other words-associates, which constitute the broad figurative and evaluative periphery of the conceptual sphere of the novel.

The performance of dental resin-based composites (RBCs) heavily depends on the characteristic properties of the individual filler fraction. As specific information regarding the properties of the filler fraction is often missing, the current study aims to characterize the filler fractions of several contemporary computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) RBCs from a material science point of view. The filler fractions of seven commercially available CAD/CAM RBCs featuring different translucency variants were analysed using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) with Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS), Micro-X-ray Computed Tomography (µXCT), Thermogravimetric Analysis (TG) and X-ray Diffractometry (XRD). All CAD/CAM RBCs investigated included midifill hybrid type filler fractions, and the size of the individual particles was clearly larger than the individual specifications of the manufacturer. The fillers in Shofu Block HC featured a sphericity of ≈0.8, while it was <0.7 in all other RBCs. All RBCs featured only X-ray amorphous phases. However, in Lava Ultimate, zircon crystals with low crystallinity were detected. In some CAD/CAM RBCs, inhomogeneities (X-ray opaque fillers or pores) with a size <80 µm were identified, but the effects were minor in relation to the total volume (<0.01 vol.%). The characteristic parameters of the filler fraction in RBCs are essential for the interpretation of the individual material’s mechanical and optical properties.
