Foundation is one of the most important thing in a construction. The frequently used foundation in construction is pile foundation. In Indonesia  the used of pile is adapt by the condition and quality of the soil. Indonesia had many types of soil, and one of them is expansive soil. Expansive soil is a type of clay that had a swelling and shrinkage potential where the swelling happen when the water content is increase and shrink when the water content decreased. One of the mineral that can cause swelling is montmorillonite mineral in expansive soil. The chemical chain between particles that influenced by the increase of water content is causing montmorillonite mineral to swell. The focus of this research is lateral movement that happened to pile as an effect of the swelling properties in expansive soil. This analysis will also inform the effectiveness on using different size and number of pile in expansive soil.

1. The pitching consistency of some 470 cheese has been determined at one factory and the data compared with the subjective judgements of a skilled cheesemaker. The smallest difference in consistency which the expert can distinguish with a reasonable degree of accuracy (threshold) is compared with those for purely elastic and viscous bodies, and it is concluded that the consistency at pitching is judged mainly from the elastic properties of the curd. The good agreement between these thresholds substantiates the hypothesis that our test for pitching consistency is closely related to the requirements of the practical cheesemaker.2. The connexion believed to exist between firmness of curd at pitching and acidity was not substantiated, in the case of Cheddar, by a statistical examination of the available data.3. The most usual values (medians) for pitching consistency are compared for four different factories, and it is shown that differences in technique may be associated with the same pitching consistency and produce very similar cheese, but that in other cases good cheese may be produced from very different pitching consistencies. The important thing is that the pitching consistency should be known and controlled so as to be as constant as possible under given conditions.4. A technique is described for measuring the force required to thrust a skewer into cheese. This force (S) is highly correlated with “body” judged subjectively by an experimenter who was aware of the fact that such a correlation was to be tried. Judgements of “body” made by expert cheese graders were not so correlated, but the interpretation of their judgements was inadequate, so that no definite conclusion can be drawn.

In the process of reconstruction and extension of highways, the most important thing is to ensure that the overall level of the widening of interchanges is comprehensively improved to ensure safe traffic. However, due to the heavy and difficult tasks in the widening of interchanges, higher requirements are put forward for the construction quality of the project. In the actual construction of the project, it is necessary to actively analyze and explain the specific construction of the interchange widening project to ensure that the improvement level of the interchange widening in highway reconstruction and extension project is effectively upgraded. This paper gives a detailed introduction to the main construction technology for interchange widening project, clarifies the technical points of safety and guaranteed access, and proposes corresponding safeguard measures to ensure the comprehensive upgrade of the construction quality and standard of interchange widening in highway reconstruction and extension.

Abstract Recent effects of globalization, urbanization and climate change have resulted in an increasing interest in the quality of life in cities and seeking pathways for its improvement. At the same time, there are changes in society and lifestyles that may challenge or facilitate these pathways. Community gardens (CGs) represent an effort to provide more sustainable urban economies, while reflecting on the public demand for cultivation of own crops. However, members of CGs may not perceive all the benefits that CGs provide for their surroundings. Using two case studied from Czechia (CG Kuchyňka and CG Vidimova in Prague) the aim of this paper is a comparison of the benefits perceived by community garden members and the evaluated net social benefits of community gardens in cities for all local residents. Through a questionnaire survey, the paper answers the research question of the benefits of community gardens perceived by community garden members. An economic assessment based on cost-benefit analysis was made to answer the question of the value of the net social benefits of community gardens in cities. Our comparison shows that the net social benefits are higher than perceived by their members. Net present benefits of EUR 31 550 for CG Kuchyňka and EUR 1 175 for CG Vidimova were quantified in a 50-year horizon. This economic analysis should contribute to greater support for community gardens by city governments and spatial planners.

Abstract : Quality control of production is an important thing that must be done by manufacturing companies to be able to produce products in accordance with customer orders. Quality Control (QC) is the department that is responsible for maintaining the quality of the products produced in accordance with predetermined standards. This research was conducted at PT Megah Mas Prima, currently the company still uses conventional methods in the process of creating reports on the results of printing and embossed production. The process of entering the recapitulation data of QC results using Microsoft Excel application, this is very difficult for QC staff because there are many criteria and material codes that must be entered so that the process of making reports requires quite a long time and the level of human error is also high. This research has produced an information system that can assist quality control staff in entering QC data, create QC reporting and accelerate the process of delivering data to QC managers and to other parties who need it.

Background: There is an urgent need for medical school curricula that address the effects of structural influences, particularly racism, on health, healthcare access, and the quality of care for people of color. Underrepresented racial minorities in the United States receive worse health care relative to their White counterparts. Structural competency, a framework for recognizing and understanding social influences on health, provides a means for understanding the structural violence that results from and perpetuates racism in classroom and clinical education. Some medical schools have incorporated art into their curricula to increase empathy generally, yet few programs use art to address racial disparities in medicine specifically. Objective: “Can We Talk About Race?” (CWTAR) aims to increase medical students’ empathy for racial minorities and increase the ease and ability of students to address racial issues. CWTAR also provides a unique context for ongoing conversations about racism and structural inequality within the health care system. Methods: Sixty-four first-year medical students were randomly selected to participate in CWTAR. The on-campus Ackland Art Museum staff and trained student facilitators lead small group discussions on selected artworks. A course evaluation was sent to all participants consisting of 4 questions: (1) Likert scale rating the quality of the program, (2) the most important thing learned from the program, (3) any differences between discussion at this program versus other conversations around race, and (4) suggestions for changes to the program. Free text responses were content coded and analyzed to reveal common themes. Results: Out of 64 students, 63 (98%) responded to at least one course evaluation question. The majority (89%) of participants rated the program quality as either “Very Good” or “Excellent.” Of the 37 students who responded to the free text question regarding the most important thing they learned from the program, 16 (44%) responses revealed students felt that they were exposed to perspectives that differed from their own, and 19% of respondents reported actively viewing a subject through another’s perspective. Of the 33 students who responded to the free text question regarding any differences between discussion at this program versus other conversations around race, 48% noted an increased comfort level discussing race during the program. A common theme in responses to the question regarding suggested changes to the program was a more explicit connection to medicine in the discussion around race. Conclusions: Student responses to CWTAR suggest that the program is effective in engaging students in discussions of racial issues. More investigation is needed to determine whether this methodology increases empathy among medical students for racial minorities specifically.
