Over the past few decades, the employment of persons with disabilities in the Asia region has been the subject of the spotlight of several studies from various government and non-government organizations. A proper and thorough look at the employment status of persons with disabilities is a crucial aspect in the overall improvement of their rights in society, especially in terms of being free from discrimination by having equal access to decent work along with other members of society. Several transformations have occurred in the employment status of persons with disabilities. With growing potential being seen in the current world work atmosphere, persons with disabilities, with the help of technological advances, the popularity of the so-called Gig Economy, and expanding entrepreneurial spirit of the populace, the door seems to be opening wider for persons with disabilities. Given this current picture of what is happening in Asia, this paper will look at the growth of employment of persons with disabilities and its causes; the current realities and challenges, as well as possible directions that this trend is taking; and the effective strategies to further develop and promote employment of persons with disabilities.

Sustainable Development Goal 8 to “Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all” necessitates country level measures across the world. We take forward a comparative analysis of India’s SDG 8 indicator list with both the UN and ILO measurements. We note inadequate measurements on social-protection and rights for non-standard forms of employment including gig work, that are intermediated by ICT platforms. From our analysis we identify some levers to broaden the current indicator measurements to include these non-standard workers as well, to improve social sustainability.

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the impacts of the care to the population displaced by violence on the health system and the challenges that this entails. METHODS: This is a narrative review of the national and international literature in PubMed, SciELO, WHO/PAHO, and Bireme. Inclusion criteria were date of publication ( from 2000), relation with the subject, and language (Spanish or English). We found 292 documents, of which 91 met the inclusion criteria. RESULTS: The main challenges are the intersectoral, participatory, and integral approach (with emphasis on mental health and sexual and reproductive health), ensured accessibility to health services, the need for a reliable registration and information system of the population displaced by violence and its characteristics, and the addressing of the biopsychosocial problems of the different groups, especially women, persons with disabilities or infectious diseases, adolescents, children, ethnic minorities, older adults and the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual, and intersexual population. CONCLUSIONS: The lack of political will to accept and see the internal displacement by violence and its importance as a humanitarian and public health problem is an obstacle to the adequate and timely care of the population displaced by violence in Mexico.

Abstract The virtually immediate information propagation has reduced the gap of knowledge once existing between MNEs and customers (i.e. Rana Plaza collapse, 2013). Consumers begin playing an important role in supporting workers. Their growing social awareness has clear economic consequences. MNEs have tried to react to the loss of social reputation, mainly adopting (and imposing to their suppliers) codes of conduct and ethics providing a minimum standard for decent work standards. This article aims to analyze the social reputation and social sustainability that have recently attracted stakeholders’ interest, from different points of view (MNEs, consumers, government and non-government organizations, unions). Those “new” forms of social initiatives (code of conduct, social ranking, consumers campaign, boycotting) are informative and could help to spread ILO labour standards. Clearly, they can represent only an additional support for workers who are struggling in the typical conflict between Work and Capital. The tendency to use a single parameter for assessing the social sensitivity of the MNEs, valid both for the countries “in development” and for those “already developed” risks to lead to a “race to the bottom” trend.

The incorrect labeling of people with disabilities as people with special needs constitutes not only a violation of equality but also a special criminological and criminal justice phenomenon. There are no special needs, but just different ways of satisfying them. The subject of this paper is an analyses of the impact of labeling people with disabilities and language disability on a discriminatory process and considers whether the victimization of persons with disabilities engenders inequality. The labeling of people with disabilities throughout history will also be considered. A questionnaire was distributed via Facebook in order to explore the opinions of users of social networks on language disability and its impact on discrimination. The aim of the paper is to highlight the effect labeling has on the overall social situation of people with disabilities. It is argued that the accurate usage of appropriate linguistic terminology would help prevent the victimization of persons with disabilities and accentuate the realization of their full participation in contemporary society.

The problem of employment of persons with disabilities is in the attention of all international organizations, is one of the seventeen sustainable development goals set by the UN, which defined decent work as an opportunity and prospects for personal development of any person, including those with disabilities. The urgency of this problem is becoming more acute in the modern world due to the fact that the number of disabled people is growing. This is due to the aging of the population – older people are at increased risk of disability, – and also because of the global increase in chronic diseases among the population. The article presents a comparative analysis of foreign and domestic experience in forming a social partnership ecosystem in solving the problems of persons with disabilities, analyzes the level of employment of persons with disabilities, and suggests practical steps for all stakeholders, including governments, civil society structures, and organizations of persons with disabilities, to create a favorable environmental ecosystem, develop rehabilitation and support services, and provide appropriate social support, developing inclusive policies and programs, and ensuring the application of new and existing standards and legislation for the benefit of persons with disabilities and the General public, based on a comparative analysis of the ecosystems of leading European States.

Purpose: to describe the factors that facilitate the adoption of e-business in firms. To go in deep on the factors, resources and capabilities that need to be present in those firms seeking to improve their levels of e-business adoption.Design/methodology/approach: analysis of the literature involving the main theories on business administration, and more specifically, on those related to technology innovation (TI) and information systems (IS), as applicable to the organizational factors that explain the adoption of e-business.Findings: it identifies three main sources of influence: a first group covers the characteristics of the actual firm, which refer to the organisation’s specific features: firm size, the backing of top management, expected benefit, age, the level of human capital, and international projection. A second group of factors includes technology-related characteristics. The third group contains all those aspects in the environment that may affect the firm’s attitude to e-business.Research limitations/implications: the chosen variables play significant role following a review of the studies on the subject, but not all potential ones have been included. The variables have been chosen in view of the large number of studies that have reported conclusive results.Practical implications: the model presented is designed to enable both scholars in this field and decision-makers in strategic matters to reflect upon those aspects that may drive the adoption of e-business, and thereby help them to make more informed decisions on the matter.Social implications: In highly competitive industries, firms need to keep themselves permanently up to speed with technological advances and strategic innovationsOriginality/value: it is the first study that considers three different perspectives: the organizational, the technological and the environmental one.
