The abruption of the valve spring will deteriorate the opening and closing hysteresis characteristic and reduce the volumetric efficiency of the emulsion pump further. With the singularity detection and the improved algorithm of the Lipschitz exponents based on least median of squares, the singularities in signals could be localized to find the impact hour between the discharge valve disc and the valve seat or the lift limiter. The diagnosis results show that the discharge valve spring abruption fault of the emulsion pump can be identified correctly and effectively.

This paper describes the dynamic behavior of valves with pneumatic chambers for reciprocating compressors. These are known as “damped valves” and are capable of reducing the impact on the valve seat and valve stopper. The characteristics of the dynamic behavior of the damped valves were clarified by calculating newly derived governing equations of valve dynamics. From the calculated results, it becomes apparent that the volume of the pneumatic chambers and the clearance between the pneumatic chamber and the valve have a large influence on the impact speed of the valves. Furthermore, the valves tend to close later for a higher compressor speed to oscillate at a larger amplitude for a lower density of gas such as hydrogen. These tendencies show that the selection of the specification of damped valves is very important. The stiffness of the valve spring and the lift of the valve also affect valve behavior as with valves without pneumatic chambers.

When early failures in rolling bearings occur, we need to be able to extract weak fault characteristic frequencies under the influence of strong noise and then perform fault diagnosis. Therefore, a new method is proposed: complete ensemble intrinsic time-scale decomposition with adaptive Lévy noise (CEITDALN). This method solves the problem of the traditional complete ensemble intrinsic time-scale decomposition with adaptive noise (CEITDAN) method not being able to filter nonwhite noise in measured vibration signal noise. Therefore, in the method proposed in this paper, a noise model in the form of parameter-adjusted noise is used to replace traditional white noise. We used an optimization algorithm to adaptively adjust the model parameters, reducing the impact of nonwhite noise on the feature frequency extraction. The experimental results for the simulation and vibration signals of rolling bearings showed that the CEITDALN method could extract weak fault features more effectively than traditional methods.

The main inlet component of steam turbine is control valve. The stable operation of the steam turbine control valve is vital for safe and stable operation of the steam turbine and safety production of the power plant. However, due to the complexity of the structure and unsteady characteristics of steam flow in the valve, there is not enough experimental method about the detailed flow characteristics of the area near control valve disc and the inside of the valve chamber up to now. This article is to focus on the simulation of the steam turbine control valve interior flow field which includes the valve pre-inlet channel in different conditions, then find the reasons which caused instability and pressure loss of the control valve by analyzing the flow field details, finally further optimization design. The profile matching of the valve disc and valve seat has a great influence on the interior flow field of control valve, so analysis of the high performance valve disc shape and divergence angle of valve seat is carried out, and the research conclusion is used for guide design and development of the control valve.

The paper presents a complicated case of coalescence of yield zones between two internal cracks out of four collinear straight cracks weakened an infinite isotropic plate. Two solutions are presented for the case of opening and closing of multiple cracks under general yielding conditions. Using these two solutions and the principle of superposition, we found the analytical expressions for load-bearing capacity of the plate using complex variable method. A numerical study has been carried out to investigate the behavior of yield zone length concerning remotely applied stresses at the boundary of the plate and the impact of two outer cracks on the propagation of inner cracks due to coalesced yield zones. Results obtained are reported graphically.

Abstract The check valve is one of the most important devices for safety protection of the piping system in thermal and nuclear power plants. As the key component of the check valve, the valve disc accounts for a major effect on the flow characteristics especially during the opening and closing processes. In this paper, a typical swing check valve is taken as the research object. In order to make a comparative study, three working conditions of 30% THA (Turbine Heat Acceptance), 50% THA and 100% THA are selected. Focusing on the effects of valve disc, how does the valve disc motion interact with the flow field around the valve disc is analyzed with the help of the dynamic mesh technology. The results show that under the combined action of fluid force and gravity, the check valve can be opened and closed quickly. During the opening process, the maximum total moment of the disc appears between 45° ∼ 50° opening angle, and during the closing process the maximum total moment occurs when the disc fully closed. The flow field near the valve disc has similar variation rules with the rotation of the valve disc in the three working conditions, and the pressure near the valve disc reaches the maximum value at the moment of opening and closing. This study can provide some suggestions for the further optimal design of similar swing check valve.

Contemporary research has shown impetus in the diagnostics of permanent magnet (PM) type machines. The manufacturers are now more interested in building diagnostics features in the control algorithms of machines to make them more salable and reliable. A compact structure, exclusive high-power density, high torque density, and efficiency make the PM machine an attractive option to use in industrial applications. The impact of a harsh operational environment most often leads to faults in PM machines. The diagnosis and nipping of such faults at an early stage have appeared as the prime concern of manufacturers and end users. This paper reviews the recent advances in fault diagnosis techniques of the two most frequently occurring faults, namely inter-turn short fault (ITSF) and irreversible demagnetization fault (IDF). ITSF is associated with a short circuit in stator winding turns in the same phase of the machine, while IDF is associated with the weakening strength of the PM in the rotor. A detailed literature review of different categories of fault indexes and their strengths and weaknesses is presented. The research trends in the fault diagnosis and the shortcomings of available literature are discussed. Moreover, potential research directions and techniques applicable for possible solutions are also extensively suggested.

<em>Flood disasters still occur regularly and continuously in Indonesia. Flooding can occur due to the volume of water in the river beyond the river body. Many impacts caused by flooding, not only material losses, flooding can also cause loss of life. The impact of flooding can be reduced if people are better prepared to face the flood. One way is to quickly disseminate information on river water levels to the community. It is necessary to make a solution on how to design an automatic sluice using Arduino UNO R3 and how to monitor the water situation during floods. The working principle of this tool uses an ultrasonic sensor as a water level detector, Arduino as a data processor, servo motor as opening and closing the door bar automatically and the modem as an SMS notification. Because design based detection system is needed In this study there are two formulations of the problem (i) How to design flood altitude detection devices using Arduino uno r3 which can open and close automatically. (ii) How to test the flood altitude detection system using a wavecome modem. The research objective is divided into two parts (i) Creating a series of flood elevation devices using Arduino r3 so that it can open and close automatically (ii) Gets the results of flood elevation system testing with an sms gateway</em>

Cogeneration has been identified as a key technical solution to improve environment, by reducing the impact of global climate change and reducing local emissions, such as particulates, sulphur and nitrogen oxides. In cogeneration, a certain pressure of steam has to be extracted from steam turbine. A mechanical device shall be used to maintain the pressure of the extracted steam. In this paper a new steam chest with valve used for cogeneration which is installed in the steam flow is introduced. Different amount of steam extractions need different valve openings. In order to obtain these several valve openings in typical operating conditions, CFD-program is used to simulate the flow path in the steam chest. The pressure distribution on the surface of valve disc can be calculated through CFD method, and corresponding steady aerodynamic forces and torques can be calculated by integral. Pulsatile flow will change the forces and moments acting on the valve discs with time constantly. Frequency spectrograms of the aerodynamic forces are obtained by using the fast Fourier transforms and compared to the characteristic frequencies of the valve disc obtained by mode analysis. For the purpose of validating the accuracy of CFD model, a test with test model scale of 1:5 has been designed. In the test, the pressure distribution on the valve disc surface and the flow field in the steam chest are acquired respectively by the method PSP (Pressure-Sensitive Paint) and PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry). CFD calculations and experimental results have been compared and it is shown that CFD calculations using K-ε turbulence model has satisfactory precision to calculate the pressure distribution, flow field and the torques.

Early fault information of rolling bearings is weak and often submerged by background noise, easily leading to misdiagnosis or missed diagnosis. In order to solve this issue, the present paper puts forward a fault diagnosis method on the basis of adaptive frequency window (AFW) and sparse coding shrinkage (SCS). The proposed method is based on the idea of determining the resonance frequency band, extracting the narrowband signal, and envelope demodulating the extracted signal. Firstly, the paper introduces frequency window, which can slip on the frequency axis and extract the frequency band. Secondly, the double time domain feature entropy is proposed to evaluate the strength of periodic components in signal. The location of the optimal frequency window covering the resonance band caused by bearing fault is determined adaptively by this entropy index and the shifting/expanding frequency window. Thirdly, the signal corresponding to the optimal frequency window is reconstructed, and it is further filtered by the sparse coding shrinkage algorithm to highlight the impact feature and reduce the residue noise. Fourthly, the de-noised signal is demodulated by envelope operation, and the corresponding envelope spectrum is calculated. Finally, the bearing failure type can be judged by comparing the frequency corresponding to the spectral lines with larger amplitude in the envelope spectrum and the fault characteristic frequency. Two bearing vibration signals are applied to validate the proposed method. The analysis results illustrate that this method can extract more failure information and highlight the early failure feature. The data files of Case Western Reserve University for different operation conditions are used, and the proposed approach achieves a diagnostic success rate of 83.3%, superior to that of the AFW method, SCS method, and Fast Kurtogram method. The method presented in this paper can be used as a supplement to the early fault diagnosis method of rolling bearings.

As one of the important parts of modern mechanical equipment, the accurate real-time diagnosis of rolling bearing is particularly important. Traditional fault diagnosis methods have some disadvantages, such as low diagnostic accuracy and difficult fault feature extraction. In this paper, a method combining Wavelet transform (WT) and Deformable Convolutional Neural Network (D-CNN) is proposed to realize accurate real-time fault diagnosis of end-to-end rolling bearing. The vibration signal of rolling bearing is taken as the monitoring target. Firstly, the Orthogonal Matching Pursuit (OMP) algorithm is used to remove the harmonic signal and retain the impact signal and noise. Secondly, the time-frequency map of the signal is obtained by time-frequency transform using Wavelet analysis. Finally, the D-CNN is used for feature extraction and classification. The experimental results show that the accuracy of the method can reach 99.9% under various fault modes, and it can accurately identify the fault of rolling bearing.
