Lithuania's Industry Role in the Curricula of Engineering Education in Mechanics Faculty at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU)

In the paper the industry role in the curricula of engineering education is examined. There are shown that the information obtained on industry developments trends, product export/import ratio as well as the level of investments injected into individual industry sub-sectors helps to make projections as to the number and profile of future professional staff; more specifically, as to the type of curriculum modules and the university acceptance level. Based on the information obtained from university graduates and managers from industrial enterprises as well as other authorities and summarized in an appropriate way, adequate corrections are introduced into the curriculum module without prejudice to regulations of the Government of the Republic Lithuania and to the provisions of the Bologna Declaration.

Background. For so long, corneal diseases have been known as one of the leading causes to blindness in the global. This blindness might be due to failure to accept the corneal transplantation. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the prevalence and the root challenges for corneal transplantation acceptance at the University of Gondar tertiary eye care and training center, Ethiopia. Methods. An institution-based cross-sectional study was conducted among patients who had an indication for corneal transplantation at the University of Gondar tertiary eye care and training center since January 1, 2017, up to October 30, 2018. A structured questionnaire was used to collect the data and entered into Epi-Info 7 software and analyzed using SPSS version 20. Simple logistic regression was used to identify the associated factors of corneal transplantation acceptance. Associations between outcome and exposure variables were expressed by the adjusted odds ratio with a 95% confidence interval and p value <0.05. Result. A total of 116 patients with a mean age of 51 (±21) years participated in the study. The overall acceptance level of corneal transplantation was only 38.8% (95% CI: 29.93, 47.66). Patients with poor knowledge [AOR = 2.41; 95% CI: 1.90, 6.48] and an unfavorable attitude [AOR = 6.33; 95% CI: 2.42, 16.54] were significantly associated with the acceptance of corneal transplantation. Conclusion. The study revealed that the corneal transplantation acceptance level was very low. Hence, the government and other concerned stakeholders should give due emphasis to the awareness creation and behavior change communication strategies to increase the acceptance level of corneal transplantation.

2020 is another special year in the history of the Police College in Szczytno. The fourth decade of its existence begins in this year. At the same time, it is a good time to take a retrospective look at the past 30 years of functioning of this university. This is all the more valuable because its author has actively participated in its life for almost all of these years, as a listener and then as an employee (policeman) at the executive and management levels. The perspective of thirty years of functioning of the Police College presented in the article concerns primarily its evolution, which is a consequence of the expectations of the police management and the interior ministry. At the same time, it presents its development as an academic centre, providing education at an increasingly higher level. The real dimension of this direction of development is the University’s ability to award further, increasingly higher titles and degrees. This is the result of the involvement of the academic and teaching staff of the university, but also of its management. This article shows the path taken by the Police College in Szczytno from the university, being the resultant of the socio-political changes of the late 1980s and early 1990s of the last century, to the university being the leading academic centre in the Republic of Poland which educates in the field of social sciences and conducts research showing the relationships between the disciplines included in this one field of science. It not only allows the professional staff of the department’s services to be trained, but also to discover new opportunities for providing safety.

The purpose of the article is to explore the issue of the formation of macroeconomic proportions in the conditions of the shaping of new economic relations. Research methods. The works of the classics of economic science, modern research of foreign scientists-economists, scientific developments of domestic scientists, decisions and decrees of the government of the Republic of Azerbaijan on improving the structure of the economy and increasing its efficiency are used. Research results. The interrelation of economic and social links of macroeconomic proportions is theoretically and methodologically substantiated. The essence of the formation of macroeconomic proportions as a functional basis for building a socially oriented economy is characterized. Scientific novelty. The process of formation of primary income during the transformation period, the level and dynamics of wages and GDP, trends in the ratio of wages and labor productivity, as well as profits in the value and sectoral structure of GDP are considered, macroeconomic indicators of the efficiency of the national economy are analyzed. Practical significance. The research results can be used to substantiate social and economic efficiency associated with the formation of macroeconomic proportions of the national economy during the transformation period and the performance of industrial enterprises. Tins paper deals with Serbian higher education, especially in engineering, and with modern tendencies in the globalization of European engineering education based on Bologna Declaration. The main goal of this paper is to explain the existing system of engineering education in the Republic of Serbia: Scientific Universities with different Technical Faculties and Higher vocational technical schools. History of engineering education in the Republic of Serbia from the first Engineering Schools in 1846, then the Technical Faculty of Great School in 1863 and finally the University in 1905 will he presented as well as a comparative analysis of other relevant Universities (Technical) in Europe. Special focus will be done on the present state of affairs in the above-mentioned education with concrete measures for improvement of engineering education according to the actual European tendency. At the same time a necessity and a need for rapid, rational and efficient reforms and restructuring of Serbian higher education, especially in organizational, financial and educational domain, will be discussed.

The present publication provides the review of the joint seminar of young scientists from the Institute of Legislation and Comparative Law under the Government of the Russian Federation and Petrozavodsk State University faculty of law which took place on April 29, 2015 in Petrozavodsk. During the event the main activities of the Institute were presented. Particular attention was paid to such areas as scientific legal support of activities of the Government of the Russian Federation, carrying out basic and applied scientific researches in legal sphere, examination of legal experience of foreign states and international associations, realization of functions of the interdisciplinary center for coordinating scientific and educational methodological support in combating corruption, realization of policy in education and professional development, performance of functions of the Secretariat of the Russian Federation delegation in the European Commission for democracy through law, activities of the Council of young scientists and the Council of graduate students, etc. At the same time, special attention was also paid to the questions of participation of youth in the Institute’s scientific life and involvement of young scientists-lawyers in joint research projects. During the seminar the foundation was laid for the main areas of interaction between the young scientists of the Institute and the University, including publishing of the results of joint scientific researches in publications of the Institute and the University, participation in the events held by the Institute and the University, involvement of the University graduates in the Institute’s Master programs, exchange in educational and scientific literature, etc. The seminar proceeded in a friendly businesslike atmosphere; its participants recognized the efficiency of the held meeting.

The Belarusian-Russia University was established on the basis of Mogilev State Technical University, in accordance with the Agreement signed between the government of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation (Mogilev, January 19, 2001). New objectives of the library are set up due to new programs to be taught at the University. Today, the library supports 16 education programs as provided by the Belarus education standards, and 7 programs as provided by the Russian standard. The author discusses in particular: collection development funding; delivery of books published by Belarus and Russia publishers’; establishing the repository “Belarusian-Russian University E-library and digital catalog databases, and among them The Proceedings of the Belarusian-Russian University Researchers, «Authors’ abstracts. Theses», «Digital Documents»; library’s publishing activities, personal bibliographies of the prominent university scholars and researchers). The Library also acts as the coordination regional methodological center. The author concludes that the Library of Belarusian-Russian University plays a significant role in education and science promotion, opens access to the cultural heritage and intellectual resources for the students, professors and scientists, and offers relevant information products and services.

The article summarizes the results of the plenary session of the international network conference “Regional development: new challenges for engineering education – SYNERGY-2021”, held at Kazan National Research Technological University from October 19 to 20, 2021. The forum which brought together representatives of universities and industrial enterprises of Russia and abroad was devoted to the issue of training engineers for the petrochemical industry. Among the participants were representatives of international societies for engineering education, ten national research universities and seven supporting universities of PJSC Gazprom, state authorities and industrial enterprises of Tatarstan. It was possible to observe the work of the plenary session in real time via the Internet in all the supporting universities of Gazprom. The event was organized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the International Society for Engineering Pedagogy (IGIP), the Association of Engineering Education of Russia (AIOR), as well as the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan and Kazan National Research Technological University. Gazprom PJSC became the general sponsor. In total, the conference gathered more than 450 participants (380 online and 85 in person) from 40 universities in Russia, the USA, Great Britain, Germany, Portugal, Finland, Poland, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia, Latvia, and Estonia. Representatives of 7 industrial enterprises spoke, 77 reports were made.

Long-term practice to employ the university graduates to work in industrial enterprises as well as the analysis of the “adaptation” process of a young specialist to the production process show that during the first two years he has to learn new areas of expertise. Teaching of these disciplines within the frames of main educational program is limited by student workload and is hardly advisable due to the narrow specifics. More detailed preparation is possible for the students enrolled in the university according to the enterprise targeting with the future specialty. The chapter considers in detail target preparation of specialists in technical vision systems for aircraft industrial enterprises. A number of original scientific results received by the authors being used in academic process are given.

In a context of increased competition on the job market, soft skills have become as important as the technical skills for employability of Moroccan engineers. Reactive and innovative engineering schools orient their learning process towards the job market requirements. This study aims at examining the soft skills required by accreditation bodies in some developing countries, namely ABET (The Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology), ENAEE (European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education), ABEEK (Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea), JABEE (The Japan Accreditation Board for Engineering Education) et EA (Engineers Australia). These skills are subsequently correlated with the Syllabus of the CDIO initiative founded by MIT (the Massachusetts Institute of Technology) In the United States. This syllabus represents a model of engineering program. It has been developed in collaboration with the industry, the government and the university community. In this study we highlight a set of soft skills which we compared with those developed in Moroccan engineering education programs in order to detect their shortcomings and key success factors.
