Abstract. The purpose of the work is to substantiate the need for an integrated approach to the study and assessment of the labor and health of teachers (using the example of teachers of educational institutions) based on the analysis of literature data and the results of their own sociological, hygienic, clinical, physiological, psychological and statistical research methods. Analysis of literature data, regulatory legal acts on the protection of the health of Russians indicates a different degree of attention to the participants in the educational process, about a certain «preponderance» in favor of the health of students in comparison with care for the health of teachers. It shows the presence of changes in the physical and mental health of teachers, some features of their formation, depending on the teaching experience, seniority, age. When analyzing the information, one-sidedness, fragmentation of studies, and inadequacy of preventive measures are revealed. Health-forming and health-preserving activities are mainly related to students. The conducted studies dictate the need to increase attention to the health and work of teachers based on the implementation of an integrated approach, as well as the need to change / clarify the legal regulation of pedagogical activity when conducting a special assessment of working conditions and when organizing medical care.

The article presents data from an empirical study of the psychological readiness of first-third-year students of the Moscow State Pedagogical University for distance learning in a pandemic. The authors considered such indicators of the mental state of future teachers as emotional tone and mental stress, and also determined the index of their life satisfaction in new learning conditions. This article presents a comparative analysis of the emotional state of students, studied at two stages: in April 2020, when students first completely switched to the distance learning format, and in October 2020, when they returned to this format amid the growing new wave of the pandemic. The results of the first stage of the study revealed that abrupt changes in the conditions of the educational process, namely, its transfer to distance learning, as well as technical difficulties with equipment and the speed of the Internet, had a negative impact on the emotional state of many students. The data of the second stage of the study showed that most of the future teachers have adapted to distance learning and do not experience high psycho-emotional stress in the educational process. This is in particular evidenced by such facts as an increase in the number of students participating in classes with the camera turned on, in contrast to the first stage of distance learning, when almost all students in lectures and practical classes experienced problems associated with the "camera effect". In general, student teachers have become much more active in learning activities than in the first months of transition to online learning.

The introduction of distance technologies is necessary in the professional training of students, despite various assessments of its effectiveness. Hence the purpose of the study: to develop an upbringing system for students in a distance format and experimentally prove its impact on the main directions of upbringing of future teachers, in comparison with extracurricular activities in full-time mode. 156 undergraduate students took part in the experiment. Experimental research is the author's paradigm for the formation of youth upbringing in extracurricular activities, which includes six synergistically interrelated areas. The upbringing student system developed in the study was tested in two formats of implementation: in full-time format at the first stage of the study and in distance format in the second half of the study. The statistical data obtained during the study confirm the effectiveness of the implementation of extracurricular activities for the formation of the upbringing of future teachers only in full-time format. The introduction of distance technologies in the implementation of upbringing extracurricular activities does not have a positive effect on students, but in some areas has an opposite negative effect. The practical significance of the study is determined by the introduction of a self-analysis and monitoring system into the educational process through the use of Facebook and VKontakte social networks.

As the title implies, a scientific paper reveals the issue of an efficiency of professional activity of foreign language teachers in higher education institutions in the context of SIOP model. The problem of this study is that in spite of the stressed importance of teaching skills, student teachers lack many of the English as a foreign language (EFL) teaching skills which may have a negative impact on their teaching performance that in turn affects their teaching self-efficacy. The methods of applying SIOP model and the effect of using SIOP model on developing EFL student teachers’ teaching skills are studied. It is emphasized that among the multiple factors that affect students’ achievement is teacher effectiveness. Thus, the challenge remains to improve and promote the effectiveness of teachers in an effort to increase students’ academic achievement. The positive and negative aspects of the education shift towards SIOP model are identified, the principles of enhancing innovative educational process effectiveness are revealed. It is worth noting that any professional development of foreign language teachers in higher education institutions must address specific knowledge and attitudes that are relevant to teaching foreign language learners. Teachers need to understand basic constructs of the second language development, the nature of language proficiency, the role of the first language and culture in learning, and the demands that mainstream education places on culturally diverse students. There is growing evidence that professional development approaches that are guided by teacher input and that view teacher learning as continual and transformative makes higher education institutions a better place for students and staff. The results indicated that introduction of SIOP model has opened up a number of problems associated with the introduction of such training services. It is stressed that the factors of SIOP model can guide limited English proficient students and suggest some useful strategies for language teachers to handle the students’ difficulties in language comprehension. It should be stressed that the introduction of SIOP model in modern educational process opens up wide horizons and unlimited possibilities for the efficiency of professional activity of foreign language teachers in higher education institutions, which have yet to be studied and mastered by modern pedagogical science.
