The modern Pabelan Islamic boarding school has received awards in relation to community welfare development including the international Aga Khan Award and the Kalpataru Environment national award. The noble values ​​in the pesantren culture that are to be implanted in the Pabelan modern Islamic boarding school require further exploration so that the strengthening of character education (PPK) based on the culture of the pesantren has various alternatives according to the specifics of each, especially those related to the process of cultivating social values ​​in extra-curricular activities. The case study research in a qualitative approach concludes that the internalization of social values ​​in Panca Jiwa, the motto of the boarding school and its educational orientation has been evident in the culture of Pesantren in extracurricular activities of trilingual speech and scouting with active participation of all parties in the pesantren and clear rules and regulations. hence strengthening the interaction between the community and the pesantren is needed by actively involving the community in extracurricular activities as a whole. Collective and individual initial guidance for new santri on societal values ​​also has a positive impact on the internalization of the pesantren culture for each Pabelan Pesantren student on an ongoing basis.

The theme of religious moderation is increasingly important to study in line with the emergence of anxiety about strengthening intolerant, extremist, and radicalism-terrorism movements in several educational institutions in Indonesia. This research aims to examine the actualization of religious moderation values (read: Islamic moderation) of teachers at SMP Aisyiyah Boarding School and SMP Al-Irsyad Al-Islamiyyah Malang. Therefore, this research uses a qualitative approach to the type of case study research. Methods of data collection are carrying out through observation, in-dept interview, and documentation of the two research locus. At the same time, the data analysis used the interactive Miles-Huberman model. This results showed that teachers' religious moderation actualizes in two ways. First, the pathway formal-curriculum through the learning planning tools which are explicitly stated in the Learning Implementation Plan (RPP), as well as through extracurricular activities guided by teachers to students, namely scouts and student council; Second, is the pathways hidden-curriculum manifested in a pattern of habituation from teachers to students through an organizational culture that is run in schools, especially in the aspect of shared basic assumptions from the students

Abstract: Musical intelligence of a child's ability to store notes, remember rhythm and be emotionally affected by music. The development of musical intelligence is one of them by the drumband extracurricular activities. This study aims to: (1). know the role of the teacher as a facilitator in developing early childhood musical intelligence through Drumband Extracurricular activities at Muslimat Nu 001 Ponorogo Kindergarten. (2). know the role of the teacher as a guide in developing musical intelligence of Early Childhood through Drumband Extracurricular activities at Muslimat Nu 001 Ponorogo Kindergarten. This research uses a qualitative approach with case study research. The technique used in collecting data is to use observation, interview, and documentation techniques. While the data analysis technique used is to use the Milles Hiberman technique. The results of this study are (1) the teacher's role as a facilitator is as a provider of the tools needed during the exercise and checking the condition of the tools. (2) the teacher's role as a guide in is to provide guidance and train children in the technique of punching in accordance with the tempo, training and accustoming children to discipline in drum exercises.

Abstrak – Penelitian ini membahas tentang penyelenggaraan pendidikan karakter di Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Swasta (MIS) Az-Zahra, dimana MI sebagai salah satu lembaga pendidikan Islam yang ada di Indonesia sangat lekat dengan sistem pengajaran dan memuat nilai-nilai ke-Islaman yang begitu kuat untuk ditanamkan menjadi karakter yang baik bagi peserta didik dengan segala kekhasannya. Sehingga kedepannya sekolah-sekolah umum dalam hal ini lembaga pendidikan dasar (SD) dapat mengadaptasi beberapa hal penting dari model pendidikan karakter di madrasah ibtidaiyah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan bagaimana landasan filosofis yang mendasari pelaksanaan pendidikan karakter di MIS Az-Zahra dan bagaimana proses pelaksanaan pendidikan karakter di madrasah tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode penelitian studi kasus. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, studi dokumentasi, dan studi literatur. Teknik analisis data dengan cara reduksi data, penyajian data, penarikan kesimpulan dan verifikasi. Hasil penelitian ini adalah 1) landasan filosofis pendidikan karakter di MIS Az-Zahra dituangkan dalam visi dan misi sekolah; 2) Proses penyelenggaraan pendidikan karakter di MIS Az-Zahra melalui empat tahapan yang meliputi: pembiasaan solat berjamaah, pembiasaan tadarrus Qur’an, pembiasaan praktek ibadah, dan kegiatan-kegiatan ekstrakurikuler. Abstract –This study discusses the implementation of character education in Islamic Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MIS) Az-Zahra, where MI as one of the Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia is very closely related to the teaching system and contains Islamic values ​​that are so strong to be instilled into character which is good for students with all their peculiarities. So that in the future public schools, in this case elementary education institutions (SD), can adapt some important things from the character education model in madrasah ibtidaiyah. The purpose of this study is to describe how the philosophical foundation that underlies the implementation of character education in MIS Az-Zahra and how the process of implementing character education in the madrasa. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study research method. Data collected through observation, interviews, documentation studies, and literature studies. Data analysis techniques by data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions and verification. The results of this study are 1) the philosophical foundation of character education at MIS Az-Zahra is outlined in the vision and mission of the school; 2) The process of organizing character education in the MIS Az-Zahra through four stages which include: habituation of the prayer, habituation of the Qur'an tadarrus, habituation of religious practices, and extracurricular activities.

<p><em>This article describes the process of implementing the Overlapping Yasindo Islamic SDLB, using a qualitative approach and type of case study research. Sources of data come from informants and documentation tailored to the focus of research. For data collection techniques using interviews, observation and literature studies. The data analysis is done by reducing data, presenting/displaying data and drawing conclusions. To check the validity of the data is done by triangulation of sources and methods, as well as discussions.</em></p><p><em>The results of the study show that: 1). PAI extracurricular activities carried out at Yasindo Islamic Elementary School Malang include daily programs including 4S (Smiles, greetings, and greetings), praying together, reciting the shahada and daily prayers before starting the lesson and after the experience is finished, the Dhuha prayer in congregation, mauidah hasanah, religious knowledge quiz, reciting the Qur'an, memorizing short letters, PHBI (Mawlid Prophet and Muharram 1 st Warning) PHBN (Commemoration of independence and other national holidays). 2) The moral development activities in the Yasindo Islamic SDLB Malang are conducted in 3 stages, the stage of strengthening the concept of morality (knowing), the application stage (doing) The step of being (being) and the creation of a religious atmosphere. 3). Supporting factors in the extracurricular implementation of PAI at Yasindo Malang Islamic SDLB include; active participation and enthusiasm of students, Collaboration with all teachers, support of student guardians, funding from schools, support from all parties. The inhibiting factor includes; The diverse needs of students so that the teacher must pay attention to each, facilities and infrastructure specifically for children with special needs that are less supportive.</em></p>

This study aims to describe the NU Ubudiyah applied at Al-Ishlah Islamic boarding school and how to prevent students from ideologies who are fond of convicting heresy. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study research design. The results stated that NU's strong ideology was tight in Indonesian society at the grassroots level. This ideology is rooted in the traditions of society. Starting from reading Yasin, Tahlil, and others that are difficult to disappear. The tradition is acculturated with the beliefs of Ancient Javanese inherited by Hindu Buddhism.

               Education which is expected to spearhead the progress of the nation in fact it has not been fully realized. Thousands of Islamic boarding schools spread throughout the regions in Indonesia also has not been able to overcome the problem of character degradation to the optimum. Character education is fundamental in the formation of human personality in order to create a generation that begets God. One of the boarding school which is quite successful in making the memorization program policy as an effort to strengthen character education namely the Islamic women’s Boarding School of Al-Qur’an Ibnu Katsir Jember. Through case study research with nonethnographic data collection techniques, non-participant observation, unstructured interviews, and secondary documents, It was found that the implementation of the memorization of the al-Qur'an program policy as an effort to strengthening then character education done by choosing programs to add to rote, repeat rote, monthly exams, make memorization with friends, make memorization with family and public testing. These activities encourages the strengthening of characters so as to produce self-confidence, tolerance, tough and hardiness, cooperation, and commitment.  Keyword: Implementation, Character Education, Program Policy.

Globalization is something we cannot avoid, and it impacts on all fronts, both positive and negative impacts. Globalization can also be a challenge for all, consequently, it requires a smart strategy to face the challenges of globalization. One of them is Pesantren. Pesantren with their classic characteristics must have a strategy to adapt to today’s guidance so that it able to maintain the existence, survive and be accepted by an increasingly advanced society. One of the pesantren that is aware of this is the API ASRI Islamic boarding school in the city of Magelang, this salaf-style pesantren has proven to be able to compete with other Islamic boarding schools, although it has only been established for about 13 years, but it has become the reference boarding school throughout Indonesia. This has attracted research attention to find out what the challenges of globalization are facing the API ASRI Islamic boarding school and how the strategy of the API ASRI Islamic boarding school in facing the challenges of globalization. This research is a case study research, using a qualitative descriptive approach. In this study, researchers used several techniques and data collection instruments, namely observation, interviews, and documentation. Techniques to check the validity of the data used in this study. The result of this study is that the biggest challenge faced by API ASRI Islamic boarding school is sophistication and promiscuity. Both of these are challenges of globalization that make Islamic boarding schools prepare themselves for this. Furthermore, the strategy used is through the formation of the character of the students and the formation of skills of the students. In terms of character building through the existence of Pesantren organizations and activities including the recitation, congregational prayer and mujahadah. And in terms of skill formation includes establishing formal schools and the existence of extracurricular activities which include English, tambourine and calligraphy.

This study presents the transformation of the kiai's leadership in forming regeneration and developing Islamic boarding schools in Al Ummah Islamic Boarding School Sukabumi. This research uses a qualitative approach with the type of case study research, which focuses on the leadership portrait of the kiai, the mechanisms and steps for the operationalization of leadership, and the process of changing leadership. Data collection was carried out in 2018 by interviewing kiai, kiai families, students and community leaders. The results showed that the portrait of kiai leadership at Pesantren Al Ummah Sukabumi is oriented towards a democratic leadership style, which is the operationalization mechanism for the transformation of private ownership into institutional property, curriculum development, and infrastructure development. This is based on the replacement of kiai who have died, replaced by kiai families who have a holistic orientation and understanding in developing future pesantren. Recommendations from the results of this study are the importance of developing Islamic boarding schools which are not only oriented towards religious development, but also fostering students to have skills that will become their life provisions in the future.

Kiai is essentially a title given to someone who has knowledge in the field of religion in this case Islam. For that researchers focused research on: 1) How kiai efforts in improving the ability to read the book yellow santri? 2) What are the factors that support and inhibit the improvement of reading ability of yellow book students ?. Type of research in this thesis is using qualitative approach with case study research design. All data obtained from observation, interview and documentation. Data analysis is done by examining all existing data, data reduction, checking data validity, observation persistence and triangulation. From the research that has been conducted, the research results are 1) Efforts in improving the reading ability of yellow book students, 2) Supporting factors and obstacles are The management of boarding school and Madrasah Diniyah boarding schools are very helpful in the learning process.Keywords: Kiai, The ability to read the book of yellow.

Abstract: Character education is very important for students to be formed as early as possible. MIN 1 Malang City applies character education with a PAKU BUMI program. The objectives of this study are (1) the concept of the PAKU BUMI program; (2) the implementation of the PAKU BUMI program in strengthening character education; (c) character education values ​​embedded in students through the PAKU BUMI program; (d) supporting factors and inhibiting factors; (e) student behavior as a result of the implementation of the PAKU BUMI program.This research uses a qualitative approach with the type of case study research. Researchers as a key instrument. Data collection techniques by observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis includes data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions. The validity of the data using techniques of increasing persistence and triangulation techniques. In this study, researchers reveal and explain in detail the implementation of the PAKU BUMI program. The results of the study found that the PAKU BUMI program is an arrangement of the national curriculum of the Ministry of Religion, the vision and mission of madrasas, and circulars of the Ministry of Religion of Malang City with the aim of increasing the KI 1 and KI 2. The PAKU BUMI program is an intracurricular activity in accordance with presidential regulation number 87 2017 concerning strengthening character education. There are several activities from the PAKU BUMI program in strengthening character education through (a) fardhu prayers and sunnah prayers; (b) dhikr and prayers after prayers and daily prayers; (c) reading the Koran and memorizing juz 30; (d) spread greetings; (e) fasting in Ramadan and fasting sunnah; (f) morality; (g) life skills or life skills. The PAKU BUMI program is able to bring out unique and distinctive character values ​​in activities. In accordance with the provisions of the presidential regulation on strengthening character education. The PAKU BUMI program has an impact on the behavior of students who are honest, responsible, disciplined, and independent for themselves and those around them. Abstrak: Pendidikan karakter sangat penting bagi siswa dengan dibentuk sedini mungkin. MIN 1 Kota Malang menerapkan pendidikan karakter dengan sebuah program PAKU BUMI Tujuan penelitian ini untuk (1) konsep program PAKU BUMI; (2) implementasi program PAKU BUMI dalam penguatan pendidikan karakter; (c) nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter yang tertanam pada siswa melalui program PAKU BUMI; (d) faktor pendukung dan faktor penghambat; (e) perilaku siswa sebagai dampak implementasi program PAKU BUMI. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian studi kasus. Peneliti sebagai instrumen kunci. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, menarik kesimpulan. Keabsahan data menggunakan teknik meningkatkan ketekunan dan teknik triangulasi. Pada penelitian ini peneliti mengungkapkan dan menjelaskan secara detail implementasi program PAKU BUMI. Hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa program PAKU BUMI merupakan susunan dari kurikulum nasional Kementerian Agama, visi misi madrasah, dan surat edaran Kementerian Agama Kota Malang dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan pada KI 1 dan KI 2. Program PAKU BUMI merupakan kegiatan intrakurikuler yang sesuai dengan peraturan presiden nomor 87 tahun 2017 tentang penguatan pendidikan karakter. Terdapat beberapa kegiatan dari program PAKU BUMI dalam penguatan pendidikan karakter melalui (a) shalat fardhu dan shalat sunnah; (b) dzikir dan doa setelah salat serta doa sehari-hari; (c) membaca al-quran dan hafalan juz 30; (d) menebar salam; (e) puasa Ramadhan dan puasa sunnah; (f) akhlakul karimah; (g) life skill atau kecakapan hidup. Program PAKU BUMI mampu memunculkan nilai-nilai karakter yang unik dan khas dalam kegiatan. Sesuai dengan ketetapan peraturan presiden tentang penguatan pendidikan karakter. Program PAKU BUMI berdampak pada perilaku siswa yang jujur, tanggung jawab, disiplin, dan mandiri untuk dirinya dan sekitarnya.
