<p>This research analyzes the imageries used by E.E. Cummings in two poems by E.E. Cumming. He is a 20th century poet and novelist known for his unique style and structure. He considered himself a painter as well as a poet. Most of his poems are free verse in which he innovates a new style of writing which disregard any traditional rules and regulations of writing. The purpose of this research is to identify the types of imageries used in some of selected poems by E.E. Cummings and how the imageries are applied in the poems. The method used is qualitative descriptive method. The source of the data are two poems “All in Green” and “Your Little Voice”. Imageries are used to make abstract ideas concrete and easier to communicate specially used in poems. From the analysis, there are only five types out of seven types of imageries found in both poems. The five types of of the imageries are visual, auditory, kinesthetic internal and gustatory imageries. Both techniques by description and figurative language are applied to build the imageries. There are nine imageries applied by using description technique and seven imageries with figurative language technique.</p><p>Keywords: poems, imagery, types of imagery, technique in building imagery</p><p>Penelitian ini menganalisis citraan yang digunakan oleh E. E. Cummings dalam beberapa karya puisinya. Dia adalah penyair dan penulis novel abad 20 yang dikenal dengan gaya dan struktur yang unik. Dia menilai dirinya sebagai seorang pelukis dan juga penyair. Dalam sebagian besar karyanya, dia menggunakan larik lepas yakni berinovasi dengan gaya menulis baru yang tidak megindahkan aturan atau ketentuan menulis tradisional. Tujuan dari penelitian untuk mengetahui jenis-jenis citraan puisi dan teknik yang digunakan untuk membangun dalam puisi karya E.E. Cummings. Sumber data diambil dari dua puisi berjudul “All in Green” and “Your Little Voice”. Citraan digunakan untuk membuat ide abstrak menjadi nyata dan lebih mudah dikomunikasikan terutama dalam puisi. Dari Analisis, hanya terdapat lima dari tujuh jenis citraan yang digunakan dalam kedua puisi. Kelima citraan tersebut adalah citraan penglihatan, citraan pendengaran, citraan gerak, citraan perasaan dan citraan pengecapan. Kedua teknik deskripsi dan bahasa kiasan digunakan dalam membangun cintraan. Terdapat 9 citraan menggunakan teknik deskripsi dan tujuh citraan mengunakan teknik bahasa kiasan.</p><p>Keywords: puisi, citraan, tipe citraan, teknik membangun citraan</p>

This study aims to analyze the act of slavery that happened in Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot. The characters that are involved are Pozzo as the master and Lucky as his slave. By analyzing how Pozzo oppresses Lucky, it reflects the act of slavery that also happened in reality in the 20th century when the story was written. This study is a qualitative descriptive method using the sociology of literature approach to reveal the connection between the situations in the play with the situations of the world in the 20th century. The data of this research are collected from the utterances and dialogues of the characters in the text play Waiting for Godot. The result showed that the act of slavery acted by Pozzo and Lucky also happened in the 20th century before, during, and after World War II in the 1940s. An upper-class society would enslave and oppress a lower-class society at the time because they had power and money.

The aim of this research is to find out the kinds of figurative language and imagery in the song lyrics of Taylor Swift’s “1989” Album. Furthermore, in this research the researcher used qualitative descriptive method. The result of the study is presented in the form of paragraphs. The researcher analyzed the songs by reading them intensively and giving attention for each line. After that, the researcher examined the figurative language and imagery of the songs lyrics. After investigating the sentence in the songs lyrics, the researcher found eight kinds of figurative languages that are used in the songs lyrics, they are personification, metaphor, hyperbole, simile, oxymoron, allusion, litotes and metonymy. Six kinds of imagery also used in the songs lyrics, they are visual imagery, auditory imagery, organic imagery, kinesthetic imagery, tactile imagery and olfactory imagery. The most dominant of figurative language used is personification and the dominant imagery used is visual imagery. Keywords: figurative language, imagery, lyrics

Figurative language is language that uses various kinds of figures. Figurative language is a form of using language in the form of a comparison or parable. This research analyze figurative language in Coldplay's song lyrics. The data source is taken from all song lyrics of Parachutes album by Coldplay. The purposes of this research are: (1) to describe the types of figurative language found in Coldplay song lyrics, (2) to explain the meaning of figurative language contained in the selected song lyrics, and (3) to find out the types of figurative language is dominantly used in Coldplay song lyrics. This research uses qualitative descriptive method. The data analysis of this research is to follow the following steps: selecting songs that contain figurative language, identifying types of figurative language by reading carefully, classifying types of figurative language from the data, and making conclusions. The results of this research show that the total number of figurative languages used in the lyrics of the song parachutes Coldplay is 35 types of figurative language. Which consists of: 2 simile, 3 repetition, 9 metaphor, 8 hyperbole, and 13 rhetoric. The type of figurative language most dominantly is rhetoric.

Sapardi adalah seorang sastrawan yang memiliki nilai keromantisan yang tinggi. Dalam novelnya yang berjudul Hujan Bulan Juni, menggambarkan romantika kesederhanaan mengenai konflik liku-liku kehidupan percintaan yang dialami kedua tokoh yang dibantu tokoh-tokoh lainnya, konflik tersebut dapat diteliti menggunakan gaya bahasa melalui pendekatan stilistika dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui romantika kesederhanaan melalui gaya bahasa dalam novel tersebut serta untuk mengetahui fungsi gaya bahasa yang mengungkapkan keseluruhan maknanya. Novel Hujan Bulan Juni merupakan novel serius, karena menggambarkan perjalanan kehidupan dan percintaan tokoh. Merupakan novel romansa, karena pengarang menggunakan bahasa-bahasa kiasan yang berbentuk narasi bersifat puitis. Gaya bahasa yang mengungkapkan romantika kesederhanaan terdapat empat gaya kalimat, empat gaya kata, bahasa figuratif dengan delapan permajasan, idiom, dan peribahasa, tiga citraan, dan sisipan sajak berfungsi sebagai penekanan antar tokoh, mewujudkan peristiwa, menciptakan makna, menghidupkan objek, suasana, dan alur.     Sapardi is a person who has high of romace value. In his novel, Hujan Bulan Juni, describe the romance of the simplicity of the conflict between the twists and turns of the love life experienced by the two figures assisted by other figures, the conflict can be examined using the style of language through a stylistic appoarch with qualitative descriptive method. This study aims to determine the romance of simplicity through the style of language in the novel as well as to know the function of language style the expresses the whole meaning. Hujan Bulan Juni novel is a serious novel, because it describes of journey of life and romance of a character. It is a romance novel, because the author uses figurative language in the form of narrative is poetic. The style of language that reveals romantic simplicity lies in four sentence styles, four word styles, figurative languages with eight rhimes, idioms, and proverbs, three images, and poet inserts functioning as intercultural emphases, realizing events, creating meaning, animating objects, plot.

This research  entitled "The Translation Method of  Figurative Language in  Spiritual Songs by Lauren Kaori" Aims of this research is to find out the types of  figure of speech contained in Lauren Kaori's spiritual songs as well as figurative langugage of  translation methods used in translating figure of speech on spiritual songs by Lauren Kaori. This research was analyzed using a qualitative descriptive method. The theory used in this research is figurative language theory according to Seto (2002), and figurative language theory according to Knickerbockers and Reninger (1963), Newmark's theory of translation methods (1998). Sources of data for this research were taken from Lauren Kaori's YouTube channel, including Cory Asbury's “Reckless Love”, Elevation Worship's “O Come To The Altar”, Hillsong Worship's “What A Beautiful Name”, Bethel Worship's “King Of My Heart” , “10000 Reasons (Bless the Lord)” by Matt Redman, “Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)” by Hillsong United. The results of this study indicate 1). hyperbolic figures of speech, metaphor, personification, tautology, synesthesia, and seven data were also found to experience a shift in translation results in translating language from BSu into BSa. 2). The translation method used is the free method, the semantic method, the communicative method, word to word method, and the literal method.

This paper examines metaphorical figurative language in Arabic poetry books. The data used is taken from the Diwan Imam Syafi'iy book. The book contains one hundred and thirty poems. Most of them portray moral issues, advice and reflection on the community situation at that time. The poems also use a lot of figurative language, one of them is metaphor. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method that includes three stages, that are data collection, data analysis, and presentation of the results of data analysis. Data collection is conducted by recording the metaphors contained in the book of Diwan Imam Syafi’iy. Analyzing the data is conducted by classifying the type of metaphor, and presenting the data is conducted by writing metaphorical findings into the paper. The research technique is performed by describing three elements forming metaphor according to Taylor, as tenor, vehicle, and ground. The meaning field refers to a comparison as a  figurative, while comparability is the object described. Comparators are classified into nine types of comparison by Haley. Based on a review of the book Diwan Imam Syafi`i, seven types of metaphor comparison are found, as being, cosmos, energy, terrestrial, object, living, and animate.Tulisan ini mengkaji gaya bahasa kiasan metafora dalam buku syair berbahasa Arab. Data yang digunakan diambil dari buku syair Diwan Imam Syafi`iy. Buku itu memuat seratus tiga puluh syair yang sebagian besar memotret soal moral dan nasihat serta refleksi dari keadaan masyarakat pada saat itu. Di dalam syair-syair tersebut banyak digunakan bahasa kiasan, metafora salah satunya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif yang mencakup tiga tahapan, yaitu pengumpulan data, penganalisisan data, dan presentasi hasil analisis data. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan mencatat metafora yang terkandung dalam buku syair Diwan Imam Syafi`iy. Analisis dilakukan dengan mengklasifikasikan jenis metafora dan mempresentasikan temuan-temuan metafora ke dalam makalah. Teknik penelitian dilakukan dengan menguraikan tiga elemen pembentuk metafora menurut Taylor, yaitu pebanding, pembanding, dan persamaan keduanya. Medan makna mengacu pada pembanding yang menjadi kiasan, sedangkan pebanding adalah objek yang dideskripsikan. Pembanding diklasifikasi berdasarkan sembilan jenis pembanding Haley. Berdasarkan tinjauan terhadap buku syair Diwan Imam Syafi`iy, ditemukan tujuh jenis pembanding metafora, yaitu being, cosmos, energy, terrestrial, object, living, dan animate.

<p>The aim of the research is to find out the use of figurative languages, the<br />dominant one, and the moral values in the selected poems of William Shakespeare. This<br />research uses a qualitative descriptive method. The results obtained include: there are 14 kinds of figurative language used in the selected poems, they are metaphor, simile, symbol, personification, litotes, hyperbole, metonymy, synecdoche, allusion, alliteration,<br />repetition, assonance, parallelism, and paradox. The dominant of figurative language used in the selected poems is a metaphor. Language reflects human conceptualization, human interpretation of the world. This paper aims to observe the relationship between the alay language and the alay speaker’s conceptualization/interpretation of the world. The data are taken from the written verbal interactions of  STAIN Kendari students, who are active on facebook. By using Sapir’s and Whorf’s hypothesis and qualitative descriptive method,  it  is  found that the alay language has close relationship with the alay speaker’s conceptualization/interpretation of the world. alay language style of writing which is randomized, does not have a system, is always abbreviated, and is only known by certain people, reflects the culture of indiscipline, instant, and short-sightedness.

This study aims to describe 1) the form of cohesion contained in the news Watching Sakinah Movies, UIN Yogyakarta Give Praise Students and 2) describing the forms of coherence contained in the news Watching Sakinah Film, Students of UIN Yogyakarta Give Praise. The subjects used in this study were news of watching Sakinah film, UIN Yogyakarta students giving praise, and the objects used were sentences containing grammatical cohesion, a form of lexical cohesion. The approach used in this study is a qualitative descriptive approach. The data in this study are sentences in the news of Watching Sakinah Movies, This student is a method of literature study. While the method of data analysis in this study is descriptive method analysis method, the method used to analyze and describe cohesion markers and analyze markers of coherence. Test The results of the study show that in the news of watching Sakinah films, UIN Yogyakarta Beri Pujian students have varied markers of cohesion and coherence in the Tebuireng Online news discourse. Cohesion markers were found to reference (3), substitution (1), ellipsis (2), conjunction (3), collocation (1), and markers of coherence found cause-effect relationships (2), relationship coherence suggestions — goals (1), coherence temporal relations (1), and coherence of causal relationships (1).

Abstract             The main fuction of the Bank as an funding and lending activities by offering various types of financial transaction services an attractive choice for people who do money laundering to hide money proceeds of crime. Because of that the government and Indonesian Banks make regulations related prevent money laundering that contains Customer Due Dilligence and Enhanced Due Dilligence. Bank Mandiri Syariah has implementation Customer Due Dilligence and Enhanced Due Dilligence as an effort to prevent money laundering. This analyze aims for knowing implementation Customer Due Dilligence and Enhanced Due Dilligence that has been applied by Bank Syariah Mandiri. In this study using a qualitative descriptive method. Data retrieval is done by observation, interviews and documentation to three sources of informants Bank Syariah Mandiri KCP Bekasi Timur and one sources of informants that specifically handles money laundering prevention program that is SKAP( Satuan Kerja APU PPT) Bank Mandiri Syariah. Data analysis will be done by doing three steps, they are; data reductions, data display, and verification.The observation result shows that implementation Customer Due Dilligence done at the time prospective customer open the account and the Bank doubt information customer by doing identification and verification. implementation Enhanced Due Dilligence is done to customers Politically Exposed Person/ High Risk open the account, but in practiceat Bank Syariah Mandiri KCP Bekasi Timur done when there is suspicious transaction or there is a case. Reporting process suspicious transaction through the system SIAP (System Aplikasi APU PPT) to Satuan Kerja APU PPT (SKAP) Bank Syariah Mandiri then SKAP reports to PPATK (Pusat Pelaporan Analisis Transaksi Keuangan). From implementation Customer Due Dilligence and Enhanced Due Dilligence Bank Mandiri Syariah has been prevent money laundering enter the financial system at Mandiri Sharia Bank.
