This study is a content analysis on existing clauses in the Charter of Medina. The results showed that Charter of Medina strictly regulated harmony among religious communities which did not restricted to Muslims only internally, but also between the Muslim communities with other people. From the articles of the Charther of Medina, it seems that the Prophet Muhammad gave a guarantee to all the people of Medina to perform their religious activities. Harmony of religious life in Indonesia, in principle, is set properly. The emergence of various conflicts between religious communities had been driven more by too little awareness among religious communities to adhere to the existing rules. There is a significant relevance if Indonesia now try to build a civil society based on civil values that had been practiced by the Prophet Muhammad in Medina.

Muslim communities in the Hindu-majority area of Bali have existed since the 15th century. Since that period, the interdependence between the two religious communities has been something inevitable. This study aims to enrich the treasures of the interdependence discourse that exists between Muslims and Hindus in Bali. It tries to trace the history and early development of Islam in Bali, the relation pattern between Muslims and Hindus, and local wisdom influencing the interdependence in Bali. Data for this study were obtained through observations and interviews with key figures in Klungkung, Bali. After profound analysis, the writer concludes that the emergence of Islam in Bali occurred when Dalem Ketut Ngelesir (1380-1460) visited Majapahit during the vassal royal conference in early 1380 and brought 40 Muslim escorts. This period also marked the early Hindus-Muslim relationship in Bali with Klungkung as the first area with the Muslim community. Later, the relationship between Hindus and Muslims was maintained in the four consecutive periods: kingdom, colonization, post-independence, and the present. Among the local wisdom that has influenced the interdependence and integration between the two religious communities are megibung, ngejot, and religious activities such as the birth of Prophet Muhammad SAW., Nyepi, odalan, takbiran, and Eid al-Fitr.

In the XXth Century, the da’wa problems that emerged in South Sumatra were the spread of fundamentalism and the cult of persona, the diversity of religious articulations, the vulnerability in the internal environment of religious communities, the plurality of political, social, and religious atmosphere so that they became polemic among academicians, the clergy split into two groups, changes in religious traditions and religious life that are complex, the Muslims of South Sumatra are in position of weakness, poverty, and suffering, because of western imperialism, issues of justice, ideology, and power. There are some scholars, such as Clifford Geertz, Geoffrey Robinson and Miquel Covarubbias who pay much attention to the patterns of the religious and cultural life of Balinese. They show various perspectives on Balinese religious and cultural lives, those that are generally closely related to Hinduism and tourism. For this reason, a study on the religious life of the Muslim communities in Bali is interesting because it represents various viewpoints while revealing another side of Balinese exoticism. Pegayaman Muslim village of Buleleng regency is an old village inhabited by Muslims amidst strong Hindu influences. This village is unique and recognized as one of the oldest Muslim villages in Bali. In general, the people in this village are able to live side by side peacefully with the adherents of other religions through local wisdom by building harmony with puri(castle), pura (temple), and Balinese customs, like actualization of Menyama Beraya in daily life and Sokok Base that are presented at procession of Maulid festival every year.

The diversity of religions necessitates the recognition and respect of religions other than ours. Islam is a religion that is peaceful and full of love. The spread of radicalism in religious communities in Indonesia illustrates the lack of tolerance in the recognition of religious diversity and the religious diversity of others. This literary research uses a qualitative approach with content analysis and comprehensive interpretation for the Qur'anic text about reciprocity verses. This study concludes that the Qur'an provides enthusiasm and solutions in terms of management and counteracts religious radicalism in the spirit of 'mutual'. Recitation of reciprocal verses as illustrated by the Quran with the editorial and unique arrangement of language in the al-Nisa’ verse 86 and al-An'am verse 108 provides a 'mutual' solution. The principle of mutual respect (al-Nisa ': 86) and not berating each other (al-An'am: 108) with a better attitude in religious life.
