The purpose of this research is to express the value of character education contained in the novel Negeri Lima Menara works A. Fuadi published by PT Gramedia Pustaka mold 2011. While data collection techniques used are descriptive-interpretative and categorization techniques. In this case, the instrument used is the researcher himself. This means that researchers do the reading and analyzing the source data repeatedly until found the certainty and confidence. The next step is consulted with the tutors. The result of the research shows that in novel Negeri 5 Menara contains five dimensions of character education value that is, divine character education, moral character education, social character education, character education culture and aesthetic character education. The elements used in the novel Negeri 5 Menara as a conveyor of the value of character education that there are four things: 1) the theme, which became the main idea of ​​the storyline, 2) the background, which underlies the description as explanation story, 3) The story in the novel is so interesting, and 4) the style of language, based on the directness of meaning, which is used in this research is a rhetorical and figurative style.

Novel is one of literature which full of character education value. The aims of this research describe the character education value of hard work in the novel. The mental hard work of participants in educators have faded and much the mentality to get instant results. This research uses the descriptive qualitative method with source data from novel Raden Mandasia Si Pencuri Daging Sapi by Yusi Avianto Pareanom Banan publisher 2016. Close reading was used to collect the data, then the data was recorded in the form of hard work education data, processing data and analyzing data The results of this research that novel contains a lot of hard-working education values shown by the characters. Figures from this novel are (1) Sungu Lembu, (2) Raden Mandasia, (3) Prabu Watugunung, (4) Loki Tua, (5) Nyai Manggis, (6) Many Wetan, (7) Barja, (8) Wulu Many, (9) Jongkeng, (10) Resi Tama, and (11) Melur. The value of character education of hard work on this novel can be instilled to learners along with related learning. Thus it can assist the educator in determining the proper literary works for the material to grow the character of the hard work of the learners.

This study aims to describe and find the implementation of character education through the 5S culture at SMPN 2 Ngawi. Data collection techniques in this study using in-depth interviews, participatory observation and documentation. The results show that the implementation of character education through the application of 5S culture in schools has proven effective, which can result in the cultivation of livable values of life, which can be a provision of community life. If the application of the 5S culture is consistent, it can automatically improve school performance but also the school into a character education center followed by other schools.Keywords: Character Education, Culture 5, SMPN 2 Ngawi

This research is motivated by problems in the world of education, that the values of character education get less attention because more directed to the mastery of academic or cognitive aspects. While the actual nonakademik aspect becomes the main foundation in character education less attention, so less embedded in learners. Therefore, this study aims to instill the values of character education contained in the novel Rantau Satu Muara by Ahmad Fuadi. This novel is chosen because it is closely related to the values of character education. The type of this research is qualitative with descriptive analysis method. This research also uses the approach of literary sociology. The data collection is done by the researchers themselves. The researcher recorded and analyzed the data during the research to collect the data taken in the novel text then the researchers themselves processed and analyzed the data in detail. The results of this study are the values of character education in the novel Rantau Satu Muara by Ahmad Fuadi which contains the values of character education, as follows. (1) Educational values of religious characters with indicators of sincerity, diligent worship / prayer, prayer, thanksgiving, and put your trust in. (2) The values of hard work character education with indicators of earnest, unyielding, aspiring and creative. (3) The values of education of the love character of the homeland with nationalist indicators and respect for diversity. (4) Educational values of the character communicative / friendly with indicators of cooperation, social care, love out, affection, kindness and respect the achievements of others. (5) The educational values of the characters love to read with the indicators of love science and diligent reading. (6) Values of character education responsibilities with independent indicators.

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter pada ungkapan hikmah di sekolah dasar se-karesidenan Surakarta. Jenis penelitian ini yaitu deskriptif kualitatif. Data dalam penelitian ini berupa kata, frasa, dan kalimat yang terdapat pada ungkapan hikmah di sekolah dasar se-karesidenan Surakarta. Adapun sumber data dalam penelitian ini yaitu ungkapan hikmah yang ditempatkan di sekolah dasar se-karesidenan Surakarta. Pengumpulan data penelitian menggunakan teknik dokumentasi. Analisis data penelitian menggunakan analisis isi (content analysis). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter pada ungkapan hikmah yang ditempatkan di sekolah dasar se-karesidenan Surakarta meliputi religius, jujur, toleransi, disiplin, kerja keras, kreatif, mandiri, demokratis, rasa ingin tahu, semangat kebangsaan, cinta tanah air, menghargai prestasi, bersahabat/komunikatif, cinta damai, gemar membaca, peduli lingkungan, peduli sosial, dan tanggung jawab. Ungkapan hikmah yang ada sangat relevan ditempatkan di sekolah dasar. Hal ini bertujuan agar peserta didik memiliki kemampuan akademik dan akhlak karimah.Kata Kunci: ungkapan hikmah, nilai karakter, sekolah dasarCHARACTER EDUCATION VALUE IN THE EXPRESSION OF HIKMAH IN THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN THE RESIDENCY OF SURAKARTA Abstract:This research aims to describe the values of character education in the expression of hikmah (wisdom) in elementary schools in the residency of Surakarta. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The data in this research in the form of words, phrases and sentences contained in the expression of hikmah in elementary schools in the residency of Surakarta. The source of the data in this research is the expression of hikmah placed in elementary schools in the residency of Surakarta. Research data collection used documentation techniques. Analysis of research data used content analysis. The results of the research showed the values of character education in the expression of hikmah placed in elementary schools in the residency of Surakarta include religious, honesty, tolerance, discipline, hard work, creative, independent, democratic, curiosity, national spirit, love of the motherland, respect for achievement, friendly/communicative, peace-loving, fond of reading, caring for the environment, caring socially, and being responsible. The expressions of hikmah are very relevant placed in elementary schools. It is intended that students have academic ability and nobel character.Keywords: expressions of hikmah, character values, elementary school

This study aims to find out, how the analysis of bilingualism on Supernova novel Akar by Dewi Lestari specifically examine 1) How is the form of switch code on Novel Supernova Akar by Dewi Lestari 2) How is the form of mixed code on Novel Supernova Akar by Dewi Lestari  3) How the function context of switch code on Novel Supernova Akar by Dewi Lestari 4) How the function context of mixing code on Novel Supernova Akar by Dewi Lestari. The research data in the form of words in the novel Supernova Akar by Dewi Lestari and the source data used in this study is novel literary work entitled Supernova Akar by Dewi Lestari. The method used in this research is descriptive method. Data collection techniques used are documentation and recording techniques. The products of this research isthe use of bilingualism in Novel Supernova Akar by Dewi Lestari, formof switch codethat is used by a speaker and two speakers, mixed forms are used in order to cool the code, follow the trend, educational exhibit, showing the position and function of the context of the use of switch code and mixed code that is a) transactional function, namely the function of language to tell something to the listener ( to do something), and b) interactional function is linguistic function to maintenance social relathionship, example to negociate role relations, people with the same age solidarity, ship exchange on conversation, saving face to speaker or listener.

This study aimed to describe the form of tolerance values in the novel Bulan Terbelah di Langit Amerika by Hanum Salsabiela Rais and Rangga Almahendra. The research method which was used is descriptive qualitative. The data collection used reading and note-taking techniques. The data in this study was a novel entitled Bulan Terbelah di Langit Amerika. The data source in this study were quotes which were contained in the novel. The analysis technique which was used is the content analysis technique. The theory used is the theory of tolerance values found in each text by paying attention to the elements of tolerance values. The results of this study indicated that there was a tolerance value that included in four elements. The first element was to give freedom or independence. The second element was recognizing the rights of each individual, then the third element was respecting the beliefs of others, and the fourth element is mutual understanding. One aspect of character education was a tolerance. For this reason, the results of this study could be used as material for character education. That was because the research results of the novel entitled the Bulan Terbelah di Langit Amerika were in accordance with the four elements of tolerance values.

The aim of this research is to obtain a deep understanding of character education in And The Mountains Echoed Novel written by Khalid Hosseini. This research used qualitative approach, content analysis method, through structuralism and  semiotics study. Structurally, character education in this novel found in the theme, the plot, the characters and characterization, and the setting. Semiotically, the researcher found semiotics signs in And The Mountains Echoed novel relating to the character education, namely, index, symbol, and icon. The data were collected through a carefull reading of the novel, identification, and classification. The values taken are the combination between character education value from Pusat Kurikulum Balitbang Diknas and Lickona’s. However not all values are captured, among the 28 values, only thirteen caught from the novel. The values are hard working, religious, responsible, love, integrity, social care, never give up, thanks be to Allah, appreciating achievement, wisdom, creative, curiousity, and friendly/communicative. From the structure of the novel, the character education implemented explicitly and implicitly in the theme, the character and characterization, the setting, and the plot. While from the semiotics, the character education mostly found  in the form of index, followed by symbol,and then icon.

This research aims to describing the implementation of character education value in Biology lesson at Senior High School in Muara Enim Regency in respect to planning and implementation aspects of learning. The research subjects consisted of three Biology teachers determined by purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques are used audiovisual materials and documents. Data were analyzed by transcription, coding and verifying data. the results of this research show that the implementation of character education value in Biology lesson on the aspect of planning and implementation consists of three things, namely 1) the values ​​designed and implemented by Biology teachers consists of discipline, curiosity, and responsibility, 2) values ​​designed but not implemented are discipline, creative value, curiosity value, and joy of reading, and 3) values ​​that are not designed but implemented are discipline, hard work, reading, and responsibility. In general, Biology teachers are implemented character education value in learning through messages by using words. In addition, Biology teachers also have not utilized the learning materials at each meeting to develop the value of character education of the learners.

<em>This research used qualitative research approach with psychology literature review. The data of this research came from the text in the novel Laut Bercerita while the data source came from the results of interviews with teachers, students, counseling and guidance’s teachers, and the authors. The data collection techniques using document analysis and interviews. The technique of taking research subjects with purposive sampling. Data validity using theory triangulation and data triangulation. Data analysis techniques using interactive analysis models which include data collection, data reduction activities, display data, and drawing conclusion. The research procedure consists of the preparation stage, the data collection stage, the data selection stage, the stage of conducting data analysis (interactive models), the stage of preparing the research report. The results of this research are 1) the novel Laut Bercerita has the completeness of intrinsic elements consisting of 7 elements, 2) the inner conflict in the main character can be understood through Sigmund Freud's theory (Id, Ego, Superego) that is able to be influenced by factors within the character itself or external factors of the people around him, 3) there are 12 values of character education contained in the novel Laut Bercerita, and 4) the novel Laut Bercerita is relevant when used as a teaching material for literary appreciation in SMA Negeri 5 Surakarta and SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta because it contains a lot of  positive values that can be realized for students in real life.</em>

This study aims to describe the value of character education contained in the novel “Sepatu Dahlan” by Khrisna Pabichara. The subject of this research is the novel “Sepatu Dahlan” Karya Khrisna Pabichara published by the publisher Noura Books (Mizan Group) in 2012. This type of research is descriptive qualitative aimed to describe or describe the phenomena that exist, both natural phenomena or human engineering. Data collection techniques in this study used reading, note-taking, and library techniques. The results showed that the character values contained in the novel “Sepatu Dahlan” by Khrisna Pabichara based on the most widely appear character quotations there are 3 characters that are the most dominant, is the value of religious character education, discipline and hard work. The values of character education found in the novel “Sepatu Dahlan” by Khrisna Pabichara are in the form of behaviours performed by a character in the face of events and in various forms of interaction between a character and another character that is told.
