The role and function of correctional institutions in providing the rights of prisoners, especially the right to communicate, has become a hot issue during the Covid-19 pandemic. Prisoners who are in correctional institutions / detention demands to be able to communicate with their families, this is a problem considering the face-to-face spread of the virus is prone to occur in overcrowded prisons. Referring to the Instruction of the Director General of Corrections Number: PAS-08.OT.02.02 of 2020 concerning the Prevention, Handling, Control and Recovery of Covid-19, there are efforts to replace the inmates' direct visits with video calls to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in prisons / detention centers. This study analyzes the implementation of video calls as an effort to grant communication rights to prisoners and to prevent the spread of covid-19 in prisons / detention centers.

Abstract The aim of this essay is to prove that, throughout Ali Smith’s There But For The (2011), the “narrative” subjective identity (Alphen 83) accessed via the face-to-face relation (Levinas and Hand 42), as well as through storytelling itself, is liable to be turned into archivable information under the pressures of a surveillance state in which its citizens are complicit. I will use this archival/narrative identity dyad as articulated by theorist Ernst van Alphen in order to investigate at length the novel’s staging of hospitality as corrupted by surveillance. I will oppose the notion of identity as information against Emmanuel Levinas’s conception of the face-to-face relation (Levinas and Hand 42), whereby true hospitality depends upon the mutual respect one person has for the absolute singularity of the other, which involves personal information and the right to privacy. As it will become apparent, these identities lose or gain agency according to the engagement of the self with a newly arrived foreign alterity. Thus, the arrival of strangers throughout Smith’s novel thematizes the scenario of hospitality in tension with the stranger as surveyor or as surveyed. The doubling of language, the self-editing of one’s discourse and the risky openness towards the Other are modes of resistance that eschew the artificial categorizations upon which the archival identity is contingent. However, the bridge from interiority to exteriority is mediation. Smith therefore develops a conception of secularized Grace that works by exploring the revolutionary potential of this very mediation and can disrupt the logic of tyrannical surveillance. Part of this approach to history and language is informed by the witnessing of the traces left on the bodies of martyrized dissidents by unjust systems at their apex. There But For The is narrated by four characters in the mediatic aftermath of a bourgeois dinner party in an affluent suburb of London that witnessed the sudden and unexplainable reclusion of Miles Garth into the spare room of his stunned hosts. The event, as well as those leading up to and following it, is recounted by a grieving nature photographer in his sixties named Mark; May, a rebellious old woman suffering from dementia; an unemployed, middle-aged Anna; and Brooke, a ten-year old girl and voracious reader. The essay will approach these characters’ meditations upon the nature of identity as split between its narrative and archival forms.

Brain connectivity plays an important role in determining the brain region’s function. Previous researchers proposed that the brain region’s function is characterized by that region’s input and output connectivity profiles. Following this proposal, numerous studies have investigated the relationship between connectivity and function. However, this proposal only utilizes direct connectivity profiles and thus is deficient in explaining individual differences in the brain region’s function. To overcome this problem, we proposed that a brain region’s function is characterized by that region’s multi-hops connectivity profile. To test this proposal, we used multi-hops functional connectivity to predict the individual face activation of the right fusiform face area (rFFA) via a multi-layer graph neural network and showed that the prediction performance is essentially improved. Results also indicated that the two-layer graph neural network is the best in characterizing rFFA’s face activation and revealed a hierarchical network for the face processing of rFFA.

One of the very basic idea of the Qur’an is on the humanity of the prophet as like other creatures. Every single person has their own creative potency (in potentia) which, according to some philosophers, enables them to reach the degree of prophecy. This idea has then made a prophecy to come to a mundane term which has not to do with any sacred property. Prophets and prophecy are then not considered as an essential thing in human history. This notion has clearly put aside the role and function of prophet in human life. There is also popular opinion in the society that the prophet is considered as God’s chosen people to receive revelation, but, at some degree, they are conceived as having no responsibility to proselytize people under God’s revelation. This notion, beside to releases the prophet’s role from his social responsibility, contains some logical fallacies. If guiding people to the right path is being an individual’s responsibility of the follower of monotheist religion, how it is possible, then, to remove the responsibility of the prophets toward their society. Therefore, this study aims to revisiting the concept of prophecy, and analyzing the prophetic mission in terms of thematic interpretation

Background Increasingly, consultations in health care settings are conducted remotely using a range of communication technologies. Email allows for 2-way text-based communication, occurring asynchronously. Studies have explored the content and nature of email consultations to understand the use, structure, and function of email consultations. Most previous content analyses of email consultations in primary care settings have been conducted in North America, and these have shown that concerns and assumptions about how email consultations work have not been realized. There has not been a UK-based content analysis of email consultations. Objective This study aims to explore and delineate the content of consultations conducted via email in English general practice by conducting a content analysis of email consultations between general practitioners (GPs) and patients. Methods We conducted a content analysis of anonymized email consultations between GPs and patients in 2 general practices in the United Kingdom. We examined the descriptive elements of the correspondence to ascertain when the emails were sent, the number of emails in an email consultation, and the nature of the content. We used a normative approach to analyze the content of the email consultations to explore the use and function of email consultation. Results We obtained 100 email consultations from 85 patients, which totaled 262 individual emails. Most email users were older than 40 years, and over half of the users were male. The email consultations were mostly short and completed in a few days. Emails were mostly sent and received during the day. The emails were mostly clinical in content rather than administrative and covered a wide range of clinical presentations. There were 3 key themes to the use and function of the email consultations: the role of the GP and email consultation, the transactional nature of an email consultation, and the operationalization of an email consultation. Conclusions Most cases where emails are used to have a consultation with a patient in general practice have a shorter consultation, are clinical in nature, and are resolved quickly. GPs approach email consultations using key elements similar to that of the face-to-face consultation; however, using email consultations has the potential to alter the role of the GP, leading them to engage in more administrative tasks than usual. Email consultations were not a replacement for face-to-face consultations.

Flexibilidade.Times of life and school times: tensions relieved by the flexibility offered by semi-presential courses of Youth and Adult EducationABSTRACTThe school has a very rigid model in terms of time. In this sense, it seeks to reproduce its activities within the temporal logic of society. Adapting the full potential of Youth and Adult Education (EJA) students to this rigidity is problematic, since, for many subjects, it is essential to articulate the times of life with the times imposed by the school. The present article aims to analyse how the semi-presential courses decrease the tensions between the times of the students’ life and school times. The research is based on a qualitative approach to research in education. The data were obtained through the application of a questionnaire to a hundred students and the holding of twelve semi-structured interviews, during the months from September to December of 2014, in a state school offering primary and secondary education for youth and adult students, which belongs to the Paraiba state system of education. This was part of a broader research carried out at post-graduate level in education. The results show that the flexibility of times offered by semi-presential courses is an important element for guaranteeing the right to education for a significant number of the young and adult students who do not adapt to the face-to-face teaching format. Keywords: Youth and Adult Education. This study discusses the role and function of the Notary Supervisory Board against the notary who violates the code of ethics and notary position. It applies the empirical legal juridical research method that is carried out by examining the conditions in the field related to the implementation of supervision and guidance of notaries by the Supervisory Board in Mataram City. Based on Article 1 paragraph (6) Law on Notary Position, the Notary Supervisory Board is an institution that has the authority and obligation to carry out guidance and supervision of the notary. In carrying out supervision and guidance, the Minister forms a Supervisory Board consisting of 3 (three) levels which include the Regional Supervisory Board in the city/regency, the Provincial Supervisory Board in the province and the Central Supervisory Board in the capital. Each level consists of 9 (nine) different people; each of 3 (three) people came from government, notary, expert/academic elements. The Supervisory Board has very important roles and functions in law enforcement against notaries in their territories in holding hearings to check for suspected violations of the code of ethics and notary position. Law enforcement can be in the form of preventive measures (supervision) and curative steps (implementation of sanctions). Thus, if the notary commits a violation, the Supervisory Board has the right to examine and sanction him/her. Sanctions can be in the form of written warning, temporary dismissal, respectful dismissal and/or disrespectful dismissal.
