With the very high incident of tuberculosis, Pakistan ranks fifth globally among the 22 high tuberculosis risk countries. Amongst other factors, socio-demographic factors play a significant role in determining “knowledge of tuberculosis” Objectives: This study used secondary data from the Pakistan Demographic and Health Survey to estimate the impact of socio-demographic factors determining the knowledge of tuberculosis and conception on how it is spread. Data Source: The relevant variables and the other parameters were extracted from the both pdf and SPSS files of PDHS. Study Design: Bi-variant cross tabulation was used to determine the level of association between the hypothesized variables using the Pearson chi-square statistic. Results: Age and wealth index showed a highly significant relationship (p<0.0001) in determining the knowledge of tuberculosis. Moreover, the increasing level of education showed a decreasing trend of misconception about the spread of TB. Conclusions: Though the results of the study indicated a highly significant relationship between the socio-demographic factors and knowledge of tuberculosis, there is a dire need to launch awareness campaigns by the public and private sector organizations to enhance the level of correct knowledge and conception of large masses.

The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of Covid 19 on basic immunization coverage, oriented to the number of Covid 19 cases mapped in the red, yellow, and green. This research provides the advantage of making a policy to improve children's health during a pandemic, particularly in preventing diseases that can be anticipated by immunization, such as tuberculosis, diphtheria, hepatitis, tetanus, meningitis, polio, and measles. This research can also be used as a basic for immunization in health facilities while still implementing health protocols. This study's results can be implemented in primary health facilities such as the Puskesmas, Posyandu, Poskesdes, or Midwife Independent Practice. This study's results indicate that immunization coverage <95% is mostly found in the red zone area of Pentabio 1 and 2 immunization, as well as measles. Chi-square test found that there was no significant relationship with basic immunization coverage.

The main aim of the study was to investigate the impact of recruitment policies and induction programmes on employee retention. The Durban Central Fire Station was used as a case study for this investigation. Relevant literature from periodicals, journals, textbooks, theses and dissertations was reviewed. A quantitative research design was adopted for this study through the administration of a pre-coded structured closed-ended questionnaire to the 126 employees at the Durban Central Fire Department. Only 110 of the 126 administered questionnaires were returned. However, of the returned questionnaires, 5 were discarded due to incomplete responses and the final questionnaire returns numbered 105, which resulted in an 83.3% response rate. The data collected from respondents were analysed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 24.0 in order to conduct non-parametric tests for testing the generated hypotheses. In total, 13 hypotheses were formulated for this study’s empirical analysis. Furthermore, the Pearson’s Chi-square and Spearman correlation tests were carried out on the formulated hypotheses to ascertain whether a statistically significant relationship existed between the variables. The study’s notable findings showed that a positive relationship existed between recruitment policies and employee retention, hence recruitment policies do have an impact on employee retention. The findings also showed that a moderately significant relationship existed between induction programmes and employee retention at the Durban Central Fire Department. Based on the findings, the researcher then recommended that the Durban Central Fire department should clarify expectations to its employees, encourage socialisation and positive work relationships, increase the duration of the induction programme and conduct exit interviews. The researcher concluded the study with suggestions for future research.

Perineal rupture is a laceration on the perineum during delivery process (excluding iatrogenic rupture such as episiotomy). Several provinces in Indonesia in 2017-2018 reports that 1 in 5 cases of perineal rupture is shown to be fatal, one of many contributing factors in perineal rupture is age and parity. This study aims to find the relationship between age, parity, with perineal rupture on per vaginam (spontaneous) deliveries in RSIA Borneo Citra Medika, Pelaihari. This search use cross-sectional, analytic observational study that was conducted at RSIA Borneo Citra Medika from January to December 2017 with simple random sampling utilizing secondary data from medical record, total 208 samples. The result is perineal rupture was found on 16 (11.51%) samples with age <20 years old and >35 years old and on 123 (95.69%) samples with age 20-35 years old. Chi-square analysis showed no association between age and perineal rupture (p>0.05). Perineal rupture was found on 70 (50.35%) samples with primigravida and on 69 (49.65%) samples with multigravida. Chi-square analysis showed a strong association between parity and perineal rupture (p= 0.000). The conclusions are there was a significant relationship between parity with perineal rupture and there wasn’t significant relationship between age with perineal rupture.

5531 Background: SCCHN with HIV is a challenging clinical situation in the medical arena due to limited data. We report our outcomes and the impact of chemotherapy (CT) and HPV on this patient (pt) population Methods: This is a single institution retrospective study of 71 HIV pts with SCCHN treated from 1998-2011. The median age at RT and HIV diagnosis was 51 (32-72) and 34 (25-50) respectively. HIV duration was 11 yrs (6-20). Stage I-II, III and IV were 22, 27 and 51% respectively. Pts treated with RT alone were 37% and CRT 63% {CDDP 91%}. Fifty pts were on HAART during treatment and 50% of pts with SCC of the oropharynx were HPV+. Median dose of 70, 63 and 54 Gy were delivered at 1.8-2 Gy/fraction to gross disease, high and low risk neck respectively. Twelve pts (17%) underwent neck dissection for N3 Results: With a median follow up of 50 months (12-140) the median weight loss was 20 lbs (6-40). Acute skin desquamation and mucositis grades ≤ 2 and 3 were 76 and 24% respectively. Treatment breaks ≥ 10 and 5 days were 7 and 21% respectively. One pt died from induction CT, 1 was hospitalized for grade 4 mucositis and 1 developed osteoradionecrosis during CRT. Late dysphagia grades ≤ 2, 3 and 4 were 74, 15 and 11%. Late xerostomia grades ≤ 2 and 3 were 77 and 23% respectively. The median CD4 count and viral load before, during and after treatment were 370, 135, 100 and 0, 160, 260 respectively. Seven pts (10%) developed second primary malignancy. The 4 yr locoregional control (LRC) and overall survival (OS) were 69% and 55% respectively. Chi-square test shows significant relationship between LRC and RT duration, as well as between CT and lower CD4 counts and higher viral load (P=0.001). Positive trends were observed between (weight loss ≤10% and LRC) and (absence of second malignancy and OS) (P=0.271). There was no significant relationship between HPV +ve or CT on either LRC or OS. Conclusions: The addition of CT to RT yielded higher morbidity and mortality without clear benefit on LRC or OS. HIV per se seems to have a -ve impact on HPV +ve pts outcomes. Comparing observed rates of LRC and OS, our data show that RT±CT administered for HIV +ve pts with SCCHN appears to be less effective than HIV-ve pts. Larger size studies are warranted to optimize the management of this growing patient population.

Abstract What is the effect of membership in civil associations on political participation? Membership has been linked to providing social capital and personal networks, which in turn help citizens more easily navigate politics. Yet this link is empirically complex, since politically interested individuals self-select into networks and associations. This research note addresses the impact of membership on different forms of political participation using a panel survey from Sweden that distinguishes between passive and active membership in various types of associations. The baseline results reaffirm a strong association between membership and political participation. The survey's panel dimension is exploited to reveal that earlier scholarship has likely overstated the robustness of membership's participatory effects. Rather, the remaining impact of association membership in the panel specification is mainly driven by types of associations for which the highest degree of selection behaviour is expected.
