Since the study from home system was implemented, several obstacles were found, especially for students at Elementary School of Leyangan in RT 004 RW 002 Dusun Krajan Desa Leyangan Kecamatan Ungaran Timur, Kabupaten Semarang. The students were difficult to learn the subjects by themselves, expecially for English subject. The main obstacles of study from home were lack of teacher’s direct explanation and lack of parents’ attention and mentoring. Based on this explanation, students needed face-to-face training and monitoring, especially the 'Self-Introduction' in English subjects. Through the USM’s Students Community Services Back to Village program, student focused on community service for face-to-face training and mentoring to improve the English skills for students at Elementary School of Leyangan. The community services method used was directly explanation and speaking practice for the given example sentences. The participants were required ro listen, rewrite and practice to speak for the given subjects. The mentoring was held in June 2021 with the COVID-19 health protocol face-to-face method. Evaluation results of the speaking pratice showed increment in students' knowledge and skill of 'Self-Introduction' subject and better pronunciation.

AbstractThe main focus of this article is to examine the interpretation of twelve cartographic symbols on the map in Valheim. The authors set the research goal: to investigate how players and non-players interpret the symbols. The Valheim video game, which was released in 2021, is a survival game set in an open world. The authors noticed that game developers did not provide a direct explanation of the map symbols used, which could result in a different interpretation and experience of the game. The authors adopted a survey on the LimeSurvey platform as research methodology. This survey tool was used to gather information on experiences and interpretations of map symbols among a diverse group of respondents. Using online forums allowed one to disseminate the survey to a large audience of players from all over the world. Then, using the categorisation method for individual questions, a large database of respondents’ answers was created. Through the analysis, the authors checked the interpretation of symbols and presented the results in the form of graphs. Then, using statistical tests, they analysed the relationship between individual symbols. The study reveals that there are intergroup differences in responses to symbols directly related to the game. With more complicated symbols that did not emphasise an unambiguous answer, both groups of respondents had a problem with indicating the meaning of the symbol. For future research, it is worth continuing research on the interpretation of various map symbols not only in games, but also in all cartographic products.

This article investigates the role of diverse nudging communication strategies on perceived threat and stockpiling intention. Across three studies, the authors examined the various effects of “nudging” on consumer behavior. Study 1 demonstrates that a commonly used picture has a stronger impact on perceived threat than a less frequently exposed picture regardless of its accuracy. Study 2 shows that the perceived threat of COVID-19, in terms of severe health consequences, is lower when using an indirect (vs. direct) explanation of the virus, as well as when reducing the amount of information about the virus. Study 3 investigates the impact of salient negative information and childhood socioeconomic status (SES). Findings reveal that negative information about deaths associated with the virus increases the level of perceived threat and stockpiling intention, especially among people of low childhood SES.

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic is not only on the safety aspect of people's lives but also on the education aspect. One of the problems faced is that students have problems understanding each material given by the teacher because what has experienced so far is that students only get assignments online (What's App, E-Learning), then students do the assignments and send them back. At that moment, there is no direct explanation from the teacher, and each student's answer only relies on the internet (google), even though students need an understanding of the concepts in the material provided, especially mathematics for fractions. One of the activities that help students develop themselves in improving their learning abilities is the tutor. Solution offered to students who live in RT 003, Paupire Village, in this service activity is to provide Student learning assistance and guidance by using fractional block teaching aids during the Covid 19 Pandemic to increase understanding of concepts and learning outcomes. Tutoring can increase students' motivation and academic value, increase understanding of fraction concepts and learning outcomes.

The skill to think analytically is an important skill for students to have, where the skill to think analytically helps students solve problems in science lessons that require an analytical skill to solve them. The research method is qualitative with a naturalistic design. This research was conducted at some Junior High schools in Ponorogo using the purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, then analyzed using quantitative descriptive and qualitative descriptive. This study aims to determine the profile of students' analytical thinking skills in solving problem-based problems in the grade 8th at pressure material and determine the pattern of its relationship with scientific exploration. The results showed that: 1) the profile of the analytical thinking skill in terms of the learning styles of students, namely the visual style subjects intend to explain what is known through the direct explanation in more detail, the audiovisual subjects are more likely to form simpler patterns with reasoning patterns generalization and on kinesthetic subjects tend to apply different (unique) concepts, but still have a relationship with the problem, 2) the pattern of the relationship between analytical thinking skills and learning styles, namely the exploration of science, which includes aspects of experience, reasoning, modalities, and the mindset of students. Through the results of this study, it is hoped that it can provide theoretical and practical insights for educators in determining approaches and strategies for achieving science analytical competence according to students' learning styles at school.

This study aimed to investigate the use of the Learning Management System (LMS) to teach English Grammar subject in online learning during a covid-19 outbreak. This study was descriptive qualitative research with second-semester students as the subjects of the study. They were students from the English department taking Structure 2 as the compulsory subject. The data were collected by conducting a survey to 71 students who were purposely selected to know the optimization of using LMS in teaching English Grammar during the covid -19 outbreak. The questionnaire was used to do a survey. The results show that the materials uploaded in the LMS are useful to help students understand English Grammar, especially for the topic taught in the second semester. Furthermore, the use of quiz features in LMS can motivate them to learn since they can know the results and the correct answer directly from the LMS. It also can increase students' confidence when doing the same test. However, it was found that the use of LMS cannot replace the direct explanation method from the teacher which is still stated as an effective way of teaching English Grammar subjects.

This paper examined the implications of using interviews as method of data collection in social sciences with reference to researcher’s experience during fieldwork. The paper is purely qualitative and documentary sources were source of data collection. The paper argued that interview as an instrument of data collection when compared to other data collection techniques like questionnaire is more powerful in eliciting narrative data that allow researchers to investigate people's views in greater depth. The paper indicated that interview as a tool for social science data collection research helps to facilitate in obtaining direct explanation for human actions through a comprehensive speech interaction. The paper concluded that although interviewing is a powerful way of getting insights into interviewee's perceptions, it could go hand in hand with other methods providing in-depth information about participants' inner values and beliefs. For instance, using personal observation as a supplement to interviews would allow researchers investigate participants' external behaviors and internal beliefs. Therefore, the paper stressed that using more than one data collection instrument (although it depends on the research questions) would help obtaining richer data and validating the research findings.
