The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between grit and parenting style of mother among Indian rural adolescents. Parental Authority Questionnaire [1] and Short Grit Scale [2] was used to meet objectives of the paper. A sample of 60 adolescents was chosen from private institution located at Bathinda (Punjab) by using convenience sampling technique. Results of correlation analysis revealed that significant (negative) relationship exists between mother’s authoritarian parenting style (only) and grit. This is true for both genders and for adolescents who comes from joint families. Educational implication of the study signifies that the suitable informative and counseling sessions should be organised for the parents to make them conscious of the appropriate parenting style for the development of gritty adolescents.

No two parents view things in the same way when it comes to raising their children. In this light, the current study attempted to establish a link between parenting methods and gender role ideas. This study used a correlational research design. We selected 300 individuals from a population of 1480 using stratified and simple random selection procedures. The participants’ parenting styles were assessed using Buri’s (1991) Parental Authority Questionnaire (PAQ), and their sex role beliefs were assessed using Williams and Best’s Sex-Role Ideology Scale (SRIS) (1990). Moment of Pearson-Product Correlation was used to determine the relationship between parenting methods and sex role ideology, while regression was utilised to determine the variables’ predictions. It was discovered that parenting techniques had no effect on the participants’ sex-role ideas. Individuals with an authoritative parenting style, on the other hand, were more likely to develop a more modern sex-role ideology, whereas those with an authoritarian parenting style developed a more conventional sex-role ideology. Additionally, both sex and religion predicted modern and traditional sex-role ideas, respectively. Tribe anticipated an authoritative parenting style without regard for either permissive or authoritarian parenting methods. The study recommends that because parenting styles are related to sex-role ideology, guidance and counselling coordinators should place a premium on the most effective parenting style in order to help students develop an acceptable sex role ideology.

Previous research suggests that the origins of perfectionism lie in parental factors. The present study examined how parenting style and family perfectionism is associated with the manifestation of perfectionism in a sample of 855 Greek university students, using the Almost Perfect Scale-Revised (APS-R), the Family Almost Perfect Scale (FAPS) and the Parental Authority Questionnaire (PAQ). The subscales of APS-R and FAPS are combined to provide three types of personal and family perfectionism respectively (adaptive, maladaptive, absence of perfectionism), whereas PAQ distinguishes three parenting styles (authoritarian, permissive, authoritative). The authoritative parenting style was positively associated with adaptive perfectionism in both genders and negatively associated with maladaptive perfectionism among women, the authoritarian parenting style was positively associated with maladaptive perfectionism among men, whereas the permissive parenting style was positively associated with maladaptive perfectionism among women and the absence of perfectionism among men. Moreover, the type of personal perfectionism was associated to the respective type of family perfectionism.

Juvenile Delinquency is a form of conflicts that are not resolved properly due to improper parenting and the consequences of relationships with peers. Adolescents are vulnerable people, so the environment plays an important role in the formation of adolescent behavior both in the family environment and in the community, especially social relations with peers. This study aims to determine the effect of parenting and peer conformity on juvenile delinquency. The population of this study were all students of Muhammadiyah 1 Tangerang Selatan Vocational School totaling 440 students, while the research sample consisted of 200 students. Data collection using; 1. The Parental Authority Questionnaire Scale developed by Buri (1991), 2. The scale developed by the researcher based on the dimensions of Sears (2002) theory, 3. The scale that is also developed by researchers based on Jensen's (1985) theory dimensions. The data obtained were analyzed using multiple regression with SPSS version 17 software and for testing the construct validity using CFA (Confirmatory factor analysis) with the help of LISREL software version 8.7. The results showed that; 1. Parenting and peer conformity have a significant effect on juvenile delinquency, 2. The proportion of variance from juvenile delinquency that is influenced by independent variables is 55.6% and the remaining 44.4% is influenced by other variables outside this study.

The present study examined the predictive role of students’ perceptions of parenting styles on their academic efficacy beliefs. This relationship was examined using two large sets of national data that were collected from school and university students to see how the relationship between parenting styles and academic efficacy beliefs may or may not vary across life stages. The sample included 1431 school students and 1119 university students cross the Sultanate of Oman. The participants responded to the Arabic version of the Parental Authority Questionnaire (PAQ) and to the Academic Self-Efficacy Scale (ASES) constructed by the researchers. Using linear regression model for each sample, the results showed that the amount of variance in school students’ academic self-efficacy beliefs explained by parenting styles (R2 adjusted = 0.21) was higher than the amount of variance explained for the university sample (R2 adjusted = 0.10). The researchers concluded that the effects of parenting styles on students’ self-efficacy beliefs decrease as children grow up.

The role of parenting styles and its relationship with special instructions by the expert to the parents to improve the behavior of intellectually disabled children was studied among 35 children with intellectual disability those were supervised in a private institution by a supervisor. The willing parents of these children completed Parental Authority Questionnaire (PAQ), received the instructions for support and help of these children to improve their behaviors at home and later submitted their reports about the behavior improvement of the children on weekly basis for four weeks. It was assumed that parenting styles may play a role in the behavior improvements of special children? The parental responses evaluated with SPSS after four weeks. A relationship was observed; a gender difference relationship also emerged. Cross cultural implementation would clarify further.
