This chapter describes several common problems encountered by teachers and students in project-based electronic music classes. The issues addressed include weak student engagement, excessively fast or slow project pacing, and students’ reluctance to participate or share their work with their peers. Also discussed are broader issues teachers face when teaching music technology: how they can overcome creative blocks in their own project design, how they can maintain relevance in the face of rapid cultural change, and how they can adapt their ensemble-based training to leading lab-based technology programs. The chapter outlines strategies for supporting students’ intrinsic motivation and creative confidence through differentiated instruction, and through rewarding effort and risk-taking rather than outcomes. The chapter is as much a psychological resource as it is a technical and pedagogical one, by design. Teaching and practicing creativity are inescapably emotional, and the advice is therefore couched in terms of interpersonal dynamics.

This chapter explored the role of SMT in curriculum delivery in the midst of the pandemic, the impact of the pandemic on curriculum delivery, and support systems most useful during the coronavirus outbreak. The objectives were examined under the lens of the transformational leadership theory. The study was positioned in the interpretivist paradigm and informed by an exploratory case study design. Fifteen SMT members from six schools were conveniently sampled and interviewed to understand their experiences, perceptions, and expectations of curriculum delivery during the pandemic. The findings largely showed good practices in curriculum management during the pandemic, knowledge of curriculum delivery roles, and expanded support structures. On the other hand, challenges, such as increased absenteeism and weak student accountability resulting from recurring community transmissions, were noted. This chapter, therefore, calls for enhancing the role of SMTs in schools to make them better prepared for and responsive to interconnected global challenges such as this pandemic.

The article substantiates the relevance of a sociological approach to the study of young students' interests in social networks. The authors analyze the results of a study involving young students who use the thematic communication repertoire in the Vkontakte network’s social groups. The study applies IT methods for processing and analyzing biographical data, analysis and statistics methods, and machine learning. The sample consists of 171,972 unique participants who joined the network’s social groups.  The authors draw up a rating of groups on various topics based on the number of group participants, present the results of the analysis of student thematic repertoire and reveal the interests of the group participants.  The article describes general and specific directions of student interests in different universities, explores the features of interactions between the participants in popular groups, and defines gender differences and various cognitive orientations depending on the place of studies. The authors provide insight into the nature of the cognitive orientation of student interests and the possibilities to influence the interests through certain content, and the weak student activity in the “corporate” social groups of the universities.
