The Book of Job presents a just, blameless man, who after being afflicted with great pain and suffering begins to curse the day of his birth. The aim of the article is to elucidate the reasons for and the meaning of Job’s harsh words by comparing two different interpretations of the passage offered by Gregory the Great and Thomas Aquinas. Both expositions seem to be incompatible regarding: the reasons for and the aims of Job’s cursing, the moral evaluation of his cursing, the reasons for and the objects of Job’s sorrow, the virtuous way of expressing sorrow. On the other hand, they seem compatible concerning the admission of the fact of experiencing sorrow by Job and the moral imperative to tame sorrow. The incompatibilities appear to be rooted in two different approaches to passions (the Stoic versus the Peripatetic one) and in different evaluations of earthly life and goods. It is shown that Aquinas’ interpretation is more faithful to the text and relies on a more adequate anthropology and psychology.

Wound management, especially for chronic wounds, has emerged as a major healthcare challenge, which brings great pain and other negative impacts to patients, and accounts for significant portions of health care budgets. The common practice of covering wounds with dressings, owing to the lack of information about wound healing underneath, cannot provide insights into the status of the wound. Changing the dressings to inspect wounds not only disturbs normal healing process of wounds, but also causes pain to affected individuals. Therefore, it is necessary to rely on parameters in the wound microenvironment such as temperature, pH, moisture level, and etc., by continuously monitoring, to indicate the wound status and healing stages. Moreover, intelligent on-demand treatment systems also can be integrated into the smart dressing, called new-type skin bioelectronic systems to be applicated in wound repair. Besides monitoring, these kinds of skin bioelectronic systems can offer effective treatments automatedly when the wound deteriorates. It makes timely treatment possible and avoids delayed treatment and uncovering the dressing to give medicine. In this review, wound healing-related indexes in the wound microenvironment are discussed, applications of various smart dressings with functions of monitoring or/and treatment are summarized.

Scurvy is a rare case found in many countries, but it is often found in refugeeareas, especially in Africa. Vitamin C deficiency varies based on season and occursmore in men with age. The purpose of this research is to avoid misdiagnosis so thatit can be a reference in the field of medicine to diagnose and provide managementon scurvy. This prospective research was conducted with one sample of research.Observation had been carried out for two months, starting at one month after thepatient was suspected with the diagnosis of scurvy. Computer Tomography (CT)Scan lumbosacral to pelvic results were normal. Laboratory test of HB result was9.5 g/dl, in which MCV was 63.2 fL, MCH was 20.3 pg, and MCHC was 32.1 g/dl.Scurvy treatment in the first visit was 3x1 tablets vitamin C, 3x5 ml ibuprofen Syr,and physiotherapy. The results were that the patient still suffered swollen andbleeding gums, but the pain no longer existed, pale, behavioural disorders, unableto walk, and pain in both knees. After the second visit, the child got therapy of 4x50mg vitamin C, 1x1 tablets vitamin B12, 1x150 IU vitamin E, 1x1 tablets cavit D3,and physiotherapy. After two weeks of treatment, there were no complaints ofswelling, painful or bleeding gums. The child could straighten her legs, but she wasstill unable to walk due to the trauma of feeling great pain while walking. Specialattention is required to diagnose appropriately so the doctor can minimize andprevent complications.

Violence against women and girls by burning is a serious and confronting form of gender-based violence. Often, perpetrators aim to disfigure their victims or cause great pain, rather than kill them. Little is known about the characteristics of females who are subjected to violence by burning. This study aimed to review the literature concerning the prevalence, demographic profile, injury event, contributing factors and health outcomes for women and girls who have experienced burn-related violence. A search across five databases (PubMed, CINAHL, PsycINFO, Scopus and LILACS) was conducted up to April 2021 to identify original peer-review research, with a focus on violence by burning against women and girls. The review was guided by the five-stage approach to integrative reviews developed by Whittemore and Knafl (2005) . Fifteen studies were identified. Victims were predominantly married, with low socio-economic status, limited education, and high emotional and financial dependency on their partners or families. Burn injuries were mostly caused by flame or acid, with significant morbidity or high mortality. Motives included family/marital issues or property/financial disputes. This review identified the limited evidence available in the peer-reviewed literature related to burn-related violence against women and girls worldwide. Findings suggest the need for further research to provide a clearer understanding of the complex issues involved.

Plastic surgery can be considered an art form, molding and shaping areas of the body to provide enhancement and visual improvements. During this process, anesthesia is a key role player, for both local and general aspects. Proper combinations of local and general anesthesia can provide not only great pain relief and the ability to perform the artwork of plastic surgery, but can also lead to better and faster postoperative recovery of patients. Take a moment to imagine doing our skills without anesthesia, not only would it be barbaric, but also unethical. The method of using fan-shaped anesthesia application will be explored as a technique to improve patient recovery. This, instead of the classic straightforward areal injection application, seems to provide improved anesthetic distribution, penetrates layers better, and offers a swifter and more efficient way of blocking pain receptors. Choosing an appropriate anesthetic from the various ones available today is very important for pain control and postoperative recovery, as well as combining it with other drugs to increase its duration of action. This medley of drug combinations provides patient satisfaction and enhanced recovery.

Vespine wasps, along with other insects, are undergoing decreases at alarming rates. However, wasps are universally disliked by the public and therefore receive little conservation attention. This antipathy may be caused by the vespine sting, which can cause great pain and severe allergic reactions in humans, but it is most likely a result of a lack of public awareness of the various ecosystem services provided by wasps. In this study, we conducted an ethno-zoological survey on the use of vespine wasps, underlining their economic value by conducting face-to-face interviews with local gatherers and sellers in a market in Guiyang city, China. Five species were observed in trade. The larvae and pupae are considered highly nutritional foods with prices ranging from 160 to 300 yuan per kilogram, whereas adults and empty combs are used to produce medicinal wines to cure rheumatism and arthritis. Using the weight of nests encountered in the market, we found that the sale of one nest from each of the five recorded species can produce an economic income up to the average disposable income per year for a rural inhabitant living in this city. Our study can be regarded as a small but important step to promote a positive image of wasps to the public. To reconcile the conflict between vespine stings and conservation, we recommend removing but not destroying nests that threaten people for domestication and sustainable use by experienced gatherers. Furthermore, local knowledge can be incorporated into the management of this threat to public safety.

One of life's bitterest feelings is loneliness, and when it becomes a constant, it can be debilitating, not only for the body but for the mind. This condition produces great pain and depression that leads to persistent, life-threatening disorders. Karen Carpenter was beautiful and talented, but had developed eating disorders that were denied or minimized by herself and those around her. These destructive habits and widespread abuses, resented her body and turn it into a fragile bundle of bones dissected by lack of nutrients.

Multiple radial fractures have brought great pain to the patients, and the treatment takes a long time and the effect is slow, which seriously affects people’s production and life. Traditional conservative treatment methods are mostly used for radius fractures. However, with the development of science and technology of the times, the level of medical treatment is also constantly improving. For radius fractures, the embedded wearable device fixation frame absorption bone nail treatment method has attracted attention. In order to study whether the embedded wearable device fixation frame can treat radius fractures, this article conducted a related survey of radius fracture patients in a hospital in a certain city, reviewed related literature, conducted interviews with professionals and so forth, and collected relevant information. A case template was constructed, and a clinical research model was created using a comprehensive quantitative and qualitative analysis method. The results of the study found that using the research embedded wearable device fixation frame to treat radius fractures with absorption bone nails can achieve good results, and its healing efficiency is about 20% faster than conservative treatment. With decoction, its treatment efficiency can be improved; and the prognostic treatment of the decoction can reduce the complications of the patient’s treatment by about 13%. This shows that the embedded wearable device holder absorption bone nail combined with decoction can play an important role in the treatment of multiple radius fractures.

Stem cells have become a hot research topic in the field of regenerative medicine due to their self-renewal and differentiation capabilities. Skeletal muscle tissue is one of the most important tissues in the human body, and it is difficult to recover when severely damaged. However, conventional treatment methods can cause great pain to patients. Stem cell-based tissue engineering can repair skeletal muscle to the greatest extent with little damage. Therefore, the application of stem cells to skeletal muscle regeneration is very promising. In this review, we discuss scaffolds and stem cells for skeletal muscle regeneration and put forward our ideas for future development.

The incidence of diabetes has been increasing year by year. Long-term growth in blood sugar causes complications such as diabetic foot ulcer and infections, which will increase the difficulty of ulcer treatment. The diabetes brings great pain and heavy economic burden to patients and their families. In view of the above problems, a nano-silver antibacterial dressing is synthesized in this paper to control bacterial infection on the ulcer surface and promote wound healing. This paper describes the preparation process and morphological characterization of nano-silver antibacterial dressings. 100 patients were selected, which divided into two groups for comparative experiments. The conventional group used conventional vaseline dressing, and the control group was nano-silver antibacterial dressing. The ulcer surface healing time, the number of dressing changes, and the control of infection were analyzed separately, and statistical analysis was performed with SPSS19.0. The experimental results are as follows. The use of nano-silver antibacterial dressing can significantly reduce the incidence of infection in diabetic foot patients, which is helpful to reduce the number of dressing changes, shorten the healing time of ulcer, and accelerate the turnover rate. It helps to shorten the course of diabetic foot, and it is recommended to promote its clinical application.
