Abstract Phytase is one of the most effective feed additives to increase the availability of phosphorus and minerals by catalyzing the hydrolysis of phytic acid. A modified appA gene (mappA) was transformed into soybean (Glycine max) under the control of a seed-specific promoter from common bean (Phaselous vulgaris). The soybean recombinant phytase showed optimal activity at pH 4.5 and 70 °C. A slight increase in enzyme activity occurred when the recombinant enzyme was pre-incubated with n-hexane. In addition, the phytase activity from our transgenic soybean does not reduce even after 2 hours of extraction with n-hexane at 55~65 °C. In conclusion, the oil extraction process using n-hexane does not inactivate the phytase expressed in the mAppA transgenic soybean, and the meal derived from the transgenic soybean processing can be used as feed supplement to livestock.

The influence of feeding high-performance cows of the energy feed additive Cobiotic Energy on the physiological state and productivity have been studied. Experiments have been carried out on with groups of dairy cows with 10 animals each during 55 days. The diet of cows of the first control group consisted of haylage of cereal and leguminous plants, corn silage, molasses, cereal hay, and feed of own production. 0.3 kg of feed additive has been introduced into the diet of animals of the experimental group II 15 days before calving, in the first 10 days after calving, as compensation for energy losses, 0.75 kg 3 times a day. In the next 30 days of the milking season with the ration of animals of the experimental group II, 0.25 kg of Cobiotic Energy has been fed, sprinkling it on top of the feed mixture. It has been established that the use of feed additives in the diets of cows has a positive effect on feed intake, physiological condition and animal productivity. It was determined that concentration of metabolizable energy in 1 kg of dry matter of the diet made 9–16– 9.2 MJ. The diet contained 12.8–13.0 % of crude protein per 1 kg of dry matter, the concentration of fiber in dry matter made 22.3– 22.0 %. The sugar-protein ratio made 1.04:1; 1.0. In terms of energy nutrition, the diet of the experimental group due to the inclusion of the feed supplement was 6 MJ higher, however, it slightly affected concentration of metabolizable energy of the diet. The energy-protein ratio corresponded to 0.2– 0.21. The nitrogen balance in the rumen was positive in all the animals and was at the level of 0.13–0.4 g. Feeding animals with supplement in the diet in the last 15 days of the dry period, during the first 10 days after calving and the next 30 days of the milking period promoted activation of protein biosynthesis and energy metabolism, as evidenced by an increase in serum total protein and its albumin fraction and ultimately increased animal productivity. The studied supplement use in the diets for cows makes it possible to increase performance of cows by 8.0 %, fat content by 0.1 %, protein by 0.24 %, lactose by 0.11 %, reduce the cost of feed for obtaining natural milk by 6.1%. Key words: feed supplement Cobiotic Energy, cows, diets, blood, milk yield, feed costs, milk quality.

The eff ectiveness of correction of the content of some macronutrients in the blood of cows with diff erent types of higher nervous activity (HNA) and vegetative status has been confi rmed using feed additive “Germatsink”. In cows with a weak type of higher nervous activity, the potassium content in the serum in 10 days after the administration of the nanopreparation increased by 16.0% (p <0.05), calcium by 4.7%. 10 days after the start of the task of the nanopreparation, the sodium content in the blood cells of the cows of HF and a weak type of GNI becomes less than only 8.7% (p <0.05) and 15.1% (p <0.05) compared with the cows with SVR type GNI.The sodium content in blood cells 30 days after the start of studies in cows of HF and a weak type of GNI does not signifi cantly diff er from the indicators of cows of the CBP type. However, 45 days after the Germatsink feed supplement was prescribed in the blood cells of cows of a weak type of GNI, the content of this metal again becomes signifi cantly higher by 9.2% (p <0.05) of the cows of the SVR type of GNI.In cows with a weak type of higher nervous activity, the serum potassium content within 10 days after the start of the task nanopreparations increases by 16.0% (p <0.05). According to the infl uence of the feed supplement Germacin in the blood cells of sympathetic cows, the ratio of sodium to potassium is normalized. It should be noted that the assignment of the Germacinc feed additive to animals with SVR, SVI and SN type of GNI does not signifi cantly aff ect the potassium transmembrane potential. Whereas the value of this index in cows with a weak type of HNA decreased by 20.9% in 45 days of research (p<0.001). Therefore, the studies shown that the administration of feed additive “Germatsink” to cows with diff erent types of HNA had corrective eff ect on the content of some macronutrients in the blood of animals. The contamination of animal feed with mycotoxins is a threat to the safety of feed and represents a worldwide problem for livestock breeding. One of the most effective ways of protecting animals from mycotoxicosis is the use of feed additives with adsorption properties. The research was conducted on the basis of the laboratory of control of feed supplements and premixes of the State Scientific-Research Control Institute of Veterinary Preparations and Feed Additives. In order to carry out researches, a feed additive «Liatoksyl» produced by Ltd. «Sanfort-P» was used. Feed additive «Liatoksyl» is a powder of gray color with a specific odor. The composition of the feed supplement includes zeolite, bentonite, silicon oxide, fumaric acid, citric acid, and succinic acid. Feed supplement «Liatoksyl» belongs to the category of technological additives. The study of the effectiveness of the use of the feed additive Lyatoxil in relation to the ability to inhibit or reduce the absorption of mycotoxins, promote their elimination. Established, the studied feed additive possesses pronounced adsorption properties in relation to T2-toxin and fumonisins. The feed additive in acidic environment (pH 2) adsorbed 185 μg/l of fumonisin from 200 μg/l, which is 92.5%. After incubation in a weakly alkaline environment, the concentration of fumonisin in the supernatant was 3 μg / L. The adsorption activity of the feed supplement with respect to the T2 toxin was lower compared to fumonisins. Thus, in acidic environment (pH 2) adsorption was 179 μg/l of T2-toxin from the introduced 200 μg/l, which is 89.5%.The practical efficiency of the feed supplement when mixed with toxin T2 and fumonisin was mixed, but substantially lower than in screening studies. The practical efficiency of the dietary supplement «Liatoksil» in the screening study for fumonisin was 90.5%, in relation to the T2 toxin – 86.5%. This is evidently due to the fact that the fodder mixtures contain mono- and disaccharides, fatty acids, triglycerides, inorganic salts, etc., which to a certain extent react with the feed additive, reducing its effectiveness against mycotoxin. The practical efficiency of the fodder additive «Liatoksil» when applied to the feed in different doses relative to fumonisin was 70.7–74.1%, in relation to the toxin T2O – 36.1–40.5% The greatest effect was achieved when adding the feed additive «Liatoksil» to the feed in doses of 2–5 g/kg.

AbstractThe rearing of piglets is the most difficult period in the pigs’ production because of their poorly developed digestive system and the low activity of digestive enzymes. Problems in nutrition and stress cause some disorders in the functioning of the digestive system leading to diarrhea and the mortality of piglets. Starting in 2006 in the EU, a total ban on antibiotics in their use as growth promoters was introduced. Since then, new and safe feed additives have been sought in order to replace antibiotics. Organic and inorganic acids as well as their salts were recognized as effective and safe additives. Due to their properties, they can improve feed palatability and digestibility, reduce the buffer capacity of feed, impact the development and functioning of the pig’s digestive system and improve the health and growth parameters. However, the effectiveness of acids is related to their qualitative and quantitative share in the feed additive. In this review, some strategies for using organic acids, their mixtures and also some new multi-component products will be discussed.

Practicability of using a complex mineral and vitamin feed additive (CMVFA) in the ration of black-and-white calf breed was studied. Decreased content of such elements as calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, sulfur, manganese, copper, zinc, and cobalt was registered. The correlation of nutritive and mineral substances, and the level of their availability for digestion did not provide for their need. CMVFA use facilitated the increase of all hematologic parameters. Tested recipes which had different content of sapropel and zeolite, as well as various types of macronutrients, microelements, and vitamins, positively influenced the digestive processes in animal bodies. Young stock from the test group that was receiving food additives according to recipe No. 1 showed 6.6 increase in the quantity of red blood cells compared to control group animals, and 6.93 increase in hemoglobin quantity the ones who were fed according to recipe No. 2 demonstrated the increase by 11.05 and 11.39 recipe No. 3 showed 16.75 and 15.27 increase, which means that the ratio of macronutrients and microelements present in CMVFA and the mutual interaction of copper, iron, and cobalt played a special role in the concentration of formed elements due to the fact that they are integral elements of blood. Total protein of young stock that was receiving food additives according to recipe No. 1 was 1.99 higher than in test group animals calcium 16.02 higher carotene 10.92 as for recipe No. 2 the values were increased by 4.91, 25.96, and 19.12 recipe No. 3 3.58, 27.07, and 20.21. Substantial increase in the content of protein, calcium, phosphorus, and carotene compared to control group animals can be explained by the fact that their insufficiency in animal feed was replenished due to the use of feed additives, and as a result their content increased in the serum but did not go beyond the norm and corresponded to physiological norms.

ABSTRACTWe have been investigating modulation strategies tailored around the selective stimulation of the host's immune system as an alternative to direct targeting of microbial pathogens by antibiotics. One such approach is the use of a group of small cationic peptides (BT) produced by a Gram-positive soil bacterium,Brevibacillus texasporus. These peptides have immune modulatory properties that enhance both leukocyte functional efficiency and leukocyte proinflammatory cytokine and chemokine mRNA transcription activitiesin vitro. In addition, when provided as a feed additive for just 4 days posthatch, BT peptides significantly induce a concentration-dependent protection against cecal and extraintestinal colonization bySalmonella entericaserovar Enteritidis. In the present studies, we assessed the effects of feeding BT peptides on transcriptional changes on proinflammatory cytokines, inflammatory chemokines, and Toll-like receptors (TLR) in the ceca of broiler chickens with and withoutS. Enteritidis infection. After feeding a BT peptide-supplemented diet for the first 4 days posthatch, chickens were then challenged withS. Enteritidis, and intestinal gene expression was measured at 1 or 7 days postinfection (p.i.) (5 or 11 days of age). Intestinal expression of innate immune mRNA transcripts was analyzed by quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR). Analysis of relative mRNA expression showed that a BT peptide-supplemented diet did not directly induce the transcription of proinflammatory cytokine, inflammatory chemokine, type I/II interferon (IFN), or TLR mRNA in chicken cecum. However, feeding the BT peptide-supplemented diet primed cecal tissue for increased (P≤ 0.05) transcription of TLR4, TLR15, and TLR21 upon infection withS. Enteritidis on days 1 and 7 p.i. Likewise, feeding the BT peptides primed the cecal tissue for increased transcription of proinflammatory cytokines (interleukin 1β [IL-1β], IL-6, IL-18, type I and II IFNs) and inflammatory chemokine (CxCLi2) in response toS. Enteritidis infection 1 and 7 days p.i. compared to the chickens fed the basal diet. These small cationic peptides may prove useful as alternatives to antibiotics as local immune modulators in neonatal poultry by providing prophylactic protection againstSalmonellainfections.

Abstract Recent research has demonstrated that swine viruses can be transmitted via feed. Chemical feed additives have been suggested for the mitigation of these viruses in complete feed. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of a commercially available formaldehyde-based feed additive, medium chain fatty acid blend (MCFA), and commercially available fatty acid-based products for mitigation of porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) and porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) in a feed matrix. Treatments consisted of: 1) non-treated positive control, 2) 0.33% commercial formaldehyde-based product (Sal Curb; Kemin Industries, Inc.; Des Moines, IA), 3) 0.5% MCFA blend (1:1:1 ratio of C6:0, C8:0, and C10:0, Sigma Aldrich, St. Louis, MO), 4) 0.25%, 5) 0.5%, or 6) 1% of commercial dry mono and diglyceride-based product (Furst Strike; Furst-McNess Company, Freeport, IL), 7) 0.25%, 8) 0.5%, or 9) 1% of commercial dry mono and diglyceride-based product (Furst Protect; Furst-McNess Company, Freeport, IL), 10) 0.25%, 11) 0.5%, or 12) 1% dry mono and diglyceride-based experimental product (Furst-McNess Company, Freeport, IL) with 3 replications/treatment. Treatments were applied to complete swine feed before inoculation with 106 TCID50/g of feed with PEDV or PRRSV. Post inoculation feed was held at ambient temperature for 24 h before being analyzed via qRT-PCR. The analyzed values represent the cycle threshold. Formaldehyde and MCFA decreased (P < 0.05) the detectable RNA of PEDV and PRRSV compared to all other treatments. Furst Strike, Furst Protect, and the experimental product did not significantly impact detectability of PEDV or PRRSV RNA. In conclusion, MCFA and formaldehyde treatments are effective at reducing detection of RNA from PEDV and PRRSV in feed.
