There are many difficulties in the evaluation of the teaching quality of phys-ical education (PE) in colleges: the evaluation factors are complicated, the evaluation systems are incomplete, and the evaluation methods are not com-prehensive enough. To overcome these difficulties, this paper introduces an-alytic hierarchy process (AHP) to the evaluation of PE teaching quality in colleges. Firstly, the authors identified the influencing factors of PE teaching in colleges today. Next, an index system was established for the evaluation, and an evaluation model was set up based on the AHP and grey system theo-ry (GST). Finally, our method was proved feasible through example analysis. The research results provide new insights on the application of state-of-the-art theories in quality evaluation of higher education.

At present, with the popularization of higher education and acceleration of college students every year, colleges and universities are increasing scale. Expansion of the scale for colleges and universities on the one hand, broadens the scope for development, on the other hand it also brings many problems, including the issue of the quality of teaching which is particularly prominent. Owing to the problems existing in the previous system of teaching quality, based on the teaching characteristics, a new multivariate teaching quality evaluation model is set up by means of GM(1,N) theory. And the application processes of the model are illuminated in detail. The model is applied into the evaluation of teaching quality. By analyzing a lot of practical examples, the experiment result indicates that this mathematical model has better appraisal effect than other appraisal model, which can overcome the complexity of traditional evaluation model. Compared with other methods, this method is scientific, simple and operable. And its structure and method will have a bright future.

This paper explores the phenomenology of professional teaching in the design studios of the School of Architecture at the University of Kansas. In contrast to previous general research, this study seeks to improve understanding of design studio instructors’ teaching by employing a qualitative phenomenological methodology based on the theory of constructivism. The use of developed analytical analysis approach in ATLAS.ti 7 reveals two main themes and their sub-categories related to studio instructors’ teaching professionalism, including four styles of teaching, four teaching methods, various teaching features, and factors that potentially influence teaching performance. Despite variations among studio instructors, the theoretical framework developed to assess teaching professionalism in the design studio characterizes instructors as street-level bureaucrats and as negotiators, shaping the quality of instruction provided. In bringing to light how studio instructors negotiate and develop their day-to-day professional teaching practices, the study aims to contribute to educational reform in support of the professional development of studio instructors.

Teaching quality evaluation of physical education usually involves multiple influence factors with grey and uncertain information. This brings about limitations to effective evaluation of teaching quality of physical education in colleges and universities. Thus, this paper draws merits from previous research and proposes a teaching quality evaluation system and model of physical education in colleges and universities. First, based on real situations, grey categories of evaluation state for physical education teaching quality are established. The definite weighted functions of grey category of evaluation state are confirmed. Specific steps of the teaching quality evaluation model based on grey clustering analysis are accounted for. Finally, a case study is introduced to verify the model. This model enlightens a new way to evaluate teaching quality of physical education in colleges and universities.
