The emergence and spread of Internet communication has led to changes in social relationships, abuse of the Internet and maladaptive behavior. Among the authors who have studied the impact of these changes there is no consensus, and the results of their research are often contradictory. Some authors conclude that Internet communication strengthens networks of its users, while others believe that such communication leads to reduced participation in real social life. In a number of people, excessive use of the Internet adversely affects the mental health and social life and can lead to obsession at the expense of other aspects of life and creating addiction. The greatest risk of negative impacts of online communication is among children and young people. This paper is meant to indicate, the good sides as well as the negative consequences of excessive and non-functional Internet use

Starting from the premise that teaching is an act of communication, which is currently being done online, the main concern of education specialists is to optimize the process of online communication so as academic learning to be effective, meaningful and profound. As there is an interdependent relationship between communication and learning, this study is an investigative approach that aims to provide some data on students' perceptions of online communication. Effective and persuasive didactic communication, especially in the online environment, raises a number of difficulties and questions. How can the online communication process be optimized so that learning could be made more efficient? How can a challenging climate in the digital environment be built, what methods are more effective for stimulating interest and activating students? How do students relate to online training, what are the difficulties they encounter, the advantages and disadvantages they perceive? These are only a few questions that we are trying to find answers to in this study. In order to conduct our investigation, we used a sample of 126 participants, and as a research method we used the questionnaire-based survey and the interview. Following the processing of the results obtained, we were able to formulate conclusions relevant to virtual communication. Among them we mention: training students in the online didactic activity is more difficult, their involvement and participation being strongly influenced by the stress caused by technology. As for building a disinhibiting, stimulating environment, students have high expectations from the teachers.

The purpose of the article is to investigate the history of blogs and determine the dynamics of their development. The methodology involves the use of historical, bibliographic, and analytical methods. The scientific novelty of the work is that it is the first attempt to describe the history of blogs from their appearance to the present day. With the rapid development of Internet communications in modern society, new forms of virtual communication have appeared, which are of interest to representatives of different segments of the population, professions, preferences, ages. Blogging allows people to express themselves, to present themselves to the world, to find like-minded people. In addition, such online communication is an opportunity to relax, work and develop. This led to the emergence of a new profession – a blogger. Due to the ability to communicate freely in time and space, the blogosphere has become a presentation platform for many political, religious, social, and cultural formations. Most companies now have at least one blogger who creates relevant content. Since evolution, blogs have come a long way, change, and improvement. Initially, the first Internet posts appeared. Later, this phenomenon was called a blog, which led to the emergence of derivative concepts, such as blogger, blogging, blogosphere, video blog, etc. Gradually, special platforms were created for blogs, where contributors discussed political, military, social, cultural, and other issues. In the early twentieth century, bloggers became a source of information for the media, causing social resonance. Some sites have combined blogging platforms and social networks and began to contain video, photo, and audio content. The coronavirus pandemic in the world has given a powerful impetus to the development of Internet communication, and the blogosphere is now experiencing considerable prosperity. Conclusions. The blog has come a long way from 1994 to the present. Every year, it gains momentum in its development, generates new online contributors, and gains a new audience. Blogs perform a number of important functions: cognitive, educational, presentation, relaxation, etc., which determine their significant popularity and, consequently, further development. Therefore, the question of the state of blogs and their history will always be relevant.

This study investigated three aspects: how project-based collaborative learning facilitates cross-cultural understanding; how students perceive project-based collaborative learning implementation in a collaborative cyber community (3C) online environment; and what types of communication among students are used. A qualitative case study approach was applied to explore these aspects using a variety of data sources. First, students’ reflections were evaluated to determine their level of cross-cultural understanding. Second, students’ messages on the discussion board were analysed to explore their cross-cultural learning process and types of communication. Third, interviews were conducted with the students and their instructor to investigate their experiences and perceptions with respect to project-based cross-cultural learning. Results of this study show that cross-cultural learning took place in the 3C online environment. Folk games, learning activities, were interesting, drew students’ attention, and stimulated their motivation. The students and the instructor positively perceived the 3C online environment as it created an authentic learning environment by connecting students from different cultures. Educational, technical, and communicative types of communication in the 3C environment were derived; however, only communication of the educational type could facilitate cross-cultural understanding. Based on the results, this study provides implications and suggestions for the teaching and research community in the field.

The article investigates the means of expressing agreement/disagreement in Internet communication. Using the internet is an important way to communicate in our lives. In modern society, an important role is played by Internet culture, formed and developed in real-time. We have found that ideographic and pictographic means are directly related to the current problem of developing virtual discourse. The tendency to reduce the transmitted information at the lexical level prevails in the environment of Internet discourse, so communicators resort to the use of abbreviations. This allows you to transfer more information with less effort. Graphic tools play a special role in virtual communication to convey information and create an emotional background. Written communication loses some of the semantic means inherent in oral communication: intonation, facial expressions, gestures. As these components create an emotional background and an atmosphere of freedom ofcommunication, the virtual text becomes "dry" and unemotional. Currently, we can transmit information using not only text but also signs, emoticons, emoticons. When communicators think that their thoughts and emotions may be misunderstood, they use graphic and pictographic elements to concretize, clarify, or reinforce what is being said.

The article is concerned with the results of the study, subject of which is the submis- sion of the respondents of the different age groups about the social and bold personality. Required property of the respondents was the presence in the Internet environment and participation in various social networks. They assessed social and bold personal- ity in such contexts of communication, as real communication and Internet communication. Analyses were undertaken to determine the structural and content features of emotional and semantic representations of the phenomenon of the social and bold personality, depending on the context of communication, but also the detection of age-sensitive representations of the young respondents (19—35 years), middle-aged respondents (36-55 years) and older respondents (from 56 to 70 years). The concept of the “social and bold personality in real communion” is shown to have a high semantic relevance, strongly marked positive emotional coloration and a similar factor structure for respondents of all age groups. The concept of the “social and bold personality in online communication” with a high semantic significance in the perception of the young respondents moves into a zone of moderate and semantic importance in representations of the middle-aged and older respondents. In representations of the respondents of all age groups, the attractiveness of the "social and bold personality in Internet communication" is less than in comparison with the "social and bold personality in the real communication". The age-specific of the social representations about social and bold personality in the real and virtual communication has been analysed in detail.

Goal. The aim of the study is a comprehensive analysis of a special type of speech behavior-trolling. The article characterizes the phenomenon of trolling as a kind of deviant communication. It is noted that trolling occurs as a reaction to changes in the functioning of media platforms. There are differences between trolling and flame, flood, spam, holivar, hating, cyberbullying. The linguistic means of trolling expression in the Ukrainian-language media space are analyzed.Methods. To determine and describe the lexical-semantic structure of the studied trolling comments, the structural-contextual method was used; interpretive analysis made it possible to explain the meaning of the selected messages; contextual analysis helped to identify associative semantic features of textual comments; with the help of introspection it was possible to trace individual thoughts that arise during one’s own activity and are realized in the analysis of trolling comments.Results. The result of the investigation was the definition of trolling as an integral part of virtual communication, which is identified by a combination of specific methods, tactics and strategies of the communicator’s behavior. It is established that the behavior of trolls can be manifested in two forms – “thick” (“malicious”) and “thin” trolling. Phenomena that are often identified with trolling are characterized, although they have significant differences: flame, flood, spam, holivar, hating, cyberbullying. Linguistic analysis of trolling in Ukrainian-language media through language means on phonetic, lexical-semantic, grammatical, syntactic levels is carried out.Conclusions. During the study, it was found that one of the methods of detecting trolls in the Ukrainian-language media space is to establish emotional markers that are polarly opposite to most verbal units. Means of expressing the strategy of trolls can be traced at all language levels: at the lexical level it is possible to use pejorative vocabulary, in particular swear words, individual word formation, zoometaphors used with negative meaning. Graphic means of expression of trolling language are realized by reduplication of letters and punctuation marks.Key words: Internet, Internet communication, deviant communication, trolling, Internet troll.

Purpose This study aims to examine the impact of cultural familiarity with images on the memorability of recognition-based graphical password (RBG-P). Design/methodology/approach The researchers used a between-group design with two groups of 50 participants from China and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, using a webtool and two questionnaires to test two hypotheses in a four-week long study. Findings The results showed that culture has significant effects on RBG-P memorability, including both recognition and recall of images. It was also found that the login success rate depreciated quickly as time progressed, which indicates the memory decay and its effects on the visual memory. Research limitations/implications Collectively, these results can be used to design universal RBG-Ps with maximal password deflection points. For better cross-cultural designs, designers must allow users from different cultures to personalize their image selections based on their own cultures. Practical implications The RBG-P interfaces developed without consideration for users’ cultures may lead to the construction of passwords that are difficult to memorize and easy to attack. Thus, the incorporation of cultural images is indispensable for improving the authentication posture. Social implications The development of RBG-P with cultural considerations will make it easy for the user population to remember the password and make it more expensive for the intruder to attack. Originality/value This study provides an insight for RBG-P developers to produce a graphical password platform that increases the memorability factor.
