Objective: This study aims to compare the clinical application value of high-flux dialysis with low-flux dialysis in patients without significantly improved renal function after cervical cancer and obstructive renal failure catheterisation. Methods: This prospective randomised study was conducted from January 2018 to December 2019. Eighty cervical cancer patients with obstructive renal failure who showed no significant renal function improvement after catheterisation were randomised into two groups (n = 40 in each group) in the Second People’s Hospital of Yibin City. High-flux and low-flux dialysis were employed in the experimental group and the control group, respectively. Treatments in both groups were provided every other day, with the whole course lasting one week. Data were recorded before and after dialysis included inflammatory factors such as IL-6, CRP and TNF-a, large and moderate molecular toxins (e.g., β2 micro-globulin, parathyrin (PTH) and cysteine protease inhibitor). Renal function changes during the dialysis were also recorded. Afterwards, the two groups were compared regarding the overall efficacy. Results: Both the experimental group and the control group experienced a significant decrease in IL-6, CRP, TNF-a, β2 micro-globulin, PTH and cysteine protease inhibitor, with the decrease in the experimental group being more evident (p < 0.05). After dialysis was completed, the experimental group restored renal function indicators such as Cre, CysC and serum K+ levels more quickly than the control group (p < 0.05). The effective rate was 100% for the experimental group and 87.5% for the control group. The intragroup difference in the efficacy.was significant. Conclusions: High-flux dialysis appears to be more beneficial for cervical cancer patients with obstructive renal failure, showing no significant improvement in renal function after catheterisation. It restored renal function more quickly, had more radical draining of inflammatory factors and large and moderate molecular toxins, and had a higher overall effective rate. doi: https://doi.org/10.12669/pjms.37.4.3515 How to cite this:Zhang C, Xie DQ, Ao L, Zhu L. Cervical cancer is a common malignant neoplasm in women, and its incidence is increasing year by year. This study explored the effects of traditional Chinese medicine combined with recombinant human interferon α2b in cervical cancer patients. 178 cervical intraepithelial neoplasias (CIN) combined with high-risk HPV-positive patients from June 2017 to August 2020 were divided into the study group (n = 89 cases) and the control group (n = 89 cases) by the random number table method. Patients in the control group were treated with recombinant human interferon α2b, and the study group was treated with traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) on the basis of the control group. After treatment, the recurrence rate in the study group was significantly decreased while the human papillomavirus (HPV) negative conversion rate was significantly increased. 3 months after treatment, the TCM symptom scores in the study group were lower than in the control group. Moreover, serum levels of inflammatory factors decreased in both groups, and the decrease was more significant in the study group. After treatment, the ultrasound parameters were significantly decreased in the study group than in the control group. In conclusion, traditional Chinese medicine combined with recombinant human interferon α2b in cervical cancer patients could effectively improve the negative conversion rate of HPV infection, the level of inflammatory factors, reduce the degree of cervical erosion, and enhance the immunity of patients with high safety and significantly improve the quality of life.

Chemically modified chitosan nanoparticles (NPs) are capable of releasing their own substances to target cells or tissues, improving microenvironment and promoting wound healing. This study aimed to explore the molecular mechanism underlying chitosan NPs loaded with TGF-β1 participating in cervical cancer (CC) progression. TGF-β1-loaded-chitosan NPs were prepared and particle size distribution, zeta potential and encapsulation efficiency of NPs were determined. MTT assay assessed the toxicity of NPs to macrophages. CC cells were co-cultured with TGF-β1-loaded chitosan NPs (experimental group) or pure chitosan NPs (control group) and cells were cultured alone to produce control group. After treatment, flow cytometry was conducted to detect apoptosis and cycle. Cancer cell migration was evaluated by Transwell assay, and miR-155 and Tim-3 expression was determined. At a ratio of 2:1 chitosan and TGF-β1, the particle size was102.65±11.98 nm, which was smallest, with high encapsulation rate of 81.26%, and low potential of 1.46±1.71. NP toxicity increased as concentration rose and relative cell proliferation rate was >80%, indicated as non-toxic. CC tissues had positive expression of CD163 and TGF-β1 (95%) (p < 0.05). Treatment with TGF-β1-loaded chitosan NPs induced increased apoptosis rate of 9.13±2.15%, reduced migration (67.65±9.91) and invaded cells (19.98±3.41), causing cell accumulation in the S phase when compared to the blank and control groups (p < 0.05). Besides, experimental group exhibited lower expression of miR-155 (0.39±0.59) and higher expression of Tim-3 (2.87± 0.51), which was higher than the blank group and control group. The optimal concentration ratio for producing TGF-β1-loaded chitosan NPs was 2:1, with less toxicity. The composite NPs suppressed malignant characteristics of CC cells through down-regulation of miR-155 and activation of Tim-3 signal pathway on the surface of macrophages, promoting secretion of macrophage inflammatory factors.

Objective. Renal anemia in patients with end-stage chronic kidney disease is closely related to the deterioration of cardiac function, renal function, and quality of life. This study involved adenine-induced renal anemic rat models and evaluated the treatment effect of Siwu granules and/or erythropoietin (EPO). Methods. Fifty SD rats were randomly divided into 5 groups: control, model, Siwu, EPO, and Siwu plus EPO groups. The expression levels of NO, MDA, SOD, CAT, IL-6, TNF-α, EPO, EPOR, α-SMA, and TGF-β1 were detected in rats after 8 weeks of treatment with Siwu granules and/or EPO. Results. After modeling, 47 rats entered the stage of treatment. Siwu plus EPO treatment significantly increased the rat hemoglobin content (p<0.05) and reduced blood urea nitrogen (p<0.05) and serum creatinine (p<0.001). Compared with the control group, the expression of EPO and EPOR in the kidney of rats with renal failure was significantly decreased (p<0.05). Moreover, the Siwu plus EPO group improved the level of oxidative stress in rats with chronic renal failure and reduced the expression of inflammatory factors. The expression of α-SMA and TGF-β1 in rats with renal failure was higher, but there was no expression in the control group. Conclusion. Combined treatment of Siwu granules with EPO increased the expression of EPO and EPOR in the renal tissues and inhibited oxidative stress and inflammatory factors, improving the renal function and anemia.

Introduction. Anaesthesia affects kidney function by reducing the renal blood flow and glomerular filtration rate. As chronic renal failure (CRF) significantly influences drug metabolism and elimination, we studied the effects of rocuronium bromide (RB) in patients with CRF. Objective. The aim of the study was to examine whether, when using RB in patients with CFR, there are differences regarding the onset time of neuromuscular block (NMB) development, duration time, speed of recovery and cumulative effects of RB. Methods. Prospective study included 60 patients who underwent urologic surgery procedures. The patients were divided into 3 groups: the first group (G1) - 20 patients with CRF and residual dieresis, the second group (G2) - 20 patients with CRF and without dieresis, and third group (G3) - 20 patients with normal renal function (control group). During surgery RB was administrated for muscle paralysis in all patients. Train-of-four (TOF) Guard acceleromyography was used for NMB monitoring. Results. Onset time in three groups was 132.3 s; 139.5 s and 113.2 s (r<0.01). Duration of intubation dose was the same in G1 and G2 (28.9 minutes), while in the third group it was 27.2 minutes (r>0.05). The number of RB repeated doses was 3-8, 3-7 and 4-8 (r>0.05). The duration time until spontaneous recovery was 31.8, 31.6 and 29.8 minutes (r>0.01). The recovery index was 16.8, 16.7 and 10.6 minutes (r<0.001). The duration time from the last dose of RB to extubation was 74.5, 74.8 and 58.9 minutes (r<0.001). Conclusion. In patients with CRF the cumulative effect of the drug was registered, with a prolonged recovery time from NMB in relation to the patients with normal renal function.

Aim. To investigate formation of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) and their impact on fibrinolysis in patients with colon cancer.Materials and methods. The study was performed in two groups. The experimental group consisted of patients with stage 2–3 non-metastatic colon cancer (n = 17, average age – 67 years). The control group included healthy volunteers matched by sex and age (n = 30, average age – 68 years). An experimental model was created from the whole blood. It included platelet-poor plasma and an isolated culture of neutrophils, previously induced to NETosis by adding 100 nmol PMA. The samples were incubated for 4 hours, then the test tubes were centrifuged to pellet cells and their remnants, and the plasma was transferred for subsequent examination. The plasma incubated with intact neutrophils was used as a control. The levels of interleukin-8 (IL-8) and P-selectin glycoprotein ligand-1 (PSGL-1) were used to determine the degree of cell activation. NETosis was confirmed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and fluorescent microscopy. Fibrinolysis was assessed using the thrombodynamics test. The results were compared with the levels of fibrinolytic system components measured by flow cytometry.Results. In the control group, NETosis induction contributed to pronounced neutrophil activation that was accompanied by an increase in the IL-8, PSGL-1, and plasminogen levels, a decrease in PAI-1, and enhancement of fibrinolysis, compared with the intact samples. Higher levels of IL-8, PSGL-1, plasminogen, and PAI-1 and intensified fibrinolysis were detected in the intact samples. However, PMA-induced NETosis did not result in an increase in the degree of activation and significant changes in the given parameters.Conclusion. NETosis promotes both formation and lysis of fibrin clots. However, in cancer patients, suicidal NETosis does not contribute to fibrinolysis due to intracellular protease depletion, which may be one of the mechanisms causing hypercoagulation and insufficient fibrinolysis in cancer.

World Health Organization (WHO), cervical cancer is the number two cause of death in the world for women from all existing cancer. Every two minutes a woman dies of this disease. This cancer attack at an early stage does not cause any symptoms. That is why, why does this type of cancer fall into the category of the silent killer. One of the promotive and preventive efforts in women of childbearing age as primary prevention can be through the provision of health education about cervical cancer using the Acetic Acid Inspection (IVA) method. The purpose of this study is to find out whether there is an influence of health education about IVA on WUS motivation in cervical cancer detection in health centers. Putri Ayu Jambi. This type of quantitative research with non randomized pretest-posttest with control group design, with purposive sampling technique totaling 22 WUS, 11 people as controls and 11 experimental people. The instrument in the form of questionnaires was analyzed by univariate and bivariate Paired Test t-test, which was conducted from April to July 2018.  The results of the study revealed that of the 22 WUSs studied, the average motivation of the pretest in the experimental group was 41.1818 and the control group was 39.9091, while the results of the posttest of the experimental group after being given counseling and leaflets increased by 42.9091 with p-value 0.034. There is an influence of health education about IVA tests on WUS motivation in detecting cervical cancer. It is suggested that the Puskesmas can improve activities in planning disease control programs, especially carrying out counseling and counseling both in the puskesmas building and in the working area of the puskesmas by involving cadres in their environment so that WUS is moved to take the IVA examination.

Fungal infection of the kidneys is a rare condition that has been reported in premature babies and in diabetic or immunocompromised adult patients. Candida spp. is the most frequent micro-organism involved. This paper reports a case of an immunocompetent newborn with a bladder exstrophy who suffered from an acute renal failure caused by bilateral renal aspergilloma (Aspergillus flavus). The newborn was treated with amphotericin B urinary tract irrigation through bilateral nephrostomy catheters, combined with liposomal amphotericin B and voriconazole therapy, which improved his renal function. However, due to persistent fungal colonization, a long antifungal treatment and permanent ureterostomies were necessary to deal with new episodes of ureterorenal obstruction. As of November 2009, despite the renal injuries, renal function had been conserved. The management of the mechanical obstruction and the choice of antifungal drugs are discussed in this unusual case.
