The research shows the resultative character of predominant markers, i.e. students consider “success” to be the result of some effort and targeted activity. Cognitive structure of “success” concept in groups of students with different experience in parental family relations is characterized by specific combination of semantic features. Positive experience in parental family relations promotes semantic orientation of subjects on success (the substantial structure of markers is characterized by a positive modality). If speaking about the cognitive structure of “success” concept for students with an adverse experience in parental family relations, it is characterized by prevalence of contradictory modalities, material component of success prevails in this case. The prevalence of emotional and estimation markers in this group allows to fix an insufficient cognitive maturity of students. The group of students with an average experience in parental family relations has a negative notion of “success” and negative modality of its cognitive structure. This group is characterized by the lack of cognitive and semantic orientation, i.e. students have almost no ability to realize and understand the signs of the concept mentioned above. The group of students with an inconsistence experience in parental family relations is characterized by various markers of “success” concept cognitive structure. Positive and negative modalities are found here in equal proportion, the signs of students’ intellectual and personal resources intercommunication are found.

Abstract Background: Evidence to Decision (EtD) frameworks bring clarity, structure and transparency to health care decision making. The interactive Evidence to Decision (iEtD) tool, developed in the context of the DECIDE project and published by Epistemonikos, is a stand-alone online solution for producing and using EtD frameworks. Since its development, little is known about how organizations have been using the iEtD tool and what characterizes users’ experiences with it.Methods: This study aimed to describe users’ experiences with the iEtD and identify main barriers and facilitators related to use. We contacted all users registered in the iEtD via email and invited people who identified themselves as having used the solution to a semi-structured interview. Audio recordings were transcribed, and one researcher conducted a content analysis of the interviews guided by a user experience framework. Two researchers checked the content independently for accuracy. Results: Out of 860 people contacted, 81 people replied to our introductory email (response rate 9.4%). Twenty of these had used the tool in a real scenario and were invited to an interview. We interviewed all eight users that accepted this invitation (from six countries, four continents). ‘Guideline development’ was the iEtD use scenario they most commonly identified. Most participants reported an overall positive experience, without major difficulties navigating or using the different sections. They reported having used most of the EtD framework criteria. Participants reported tailoring their frameworks, for instance by adding or deleting criteria, translating to another language, or rewording headings. Several people preferred to produce a Word version rather than working online, due to the burden of completing the framework, or lack of experience with the tool. Some reported difficulties working with the exportable formats, as they needed considerable editing. Conclusion: A very limited number of guideline developers have used the iEtD tool published by Epistemonikos since its development. Although users’ general experiences are positive, our work has identified some aspects of the tool that need improvement. Our findings could be also applied to development or improvement of other solutions for producing or using EtD frameworks.

This article works from the double hypothesis that: (1) a Yugoslav socio-cultural space still exists in spite of the dissolution of the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia; and (2) the communities ‘occupying’ this space can be considered, in some measure, ‘diasporic’, if the ‘Yugoslav diaspora’ is defined by not only the geographic displacement of people but also by the loosening of connections between members of an ex-nation who still consider themselves a national community. The ‘space’ mapped in the article is the so-called ‘virtual space’ of the Web, including all websites that reconnect to the ‘cultural languages’ of the ‘past-country’. The author observes how these ‘different Yugoslavias’ are ‘staged’ and linked together on the Web, and verifies how some far-flung communities rally around the ‘virtual re-foundation’ and ‘virtual representations’ of Yugoslavia. The corpus is constituted mainly of ‘yugonostalgic’ websites that are subjected to a content analysis. The 191 websites of the corpus and the hypertextual map of their edges are analysed using semantic features together with other tools of categorization.

Solidarity refers not only to the socio-political sphere, but also to the sphere of intra-family relations. Solidarity and support of generations in everyday life is one of the natural traditions of inter-generational and intra-generational relationships. Solidarity is a structure of behavior inherited by individuals, fixed in the natural-historical process of succession of generations. The purpose of the article is to analyze the problems and trends in traditional relations of intra-family solidarity and mutual assistance of generations in everyday life. Sociological materials show that the modern young generation is, for the most part, completely or mostly independent in financial and economic terms. There is a noticeable trend that today's youth are noticeably less helpful in everyday life to older generations than older generations are helping young people. On the one hand, young people are largely separated from the parental family, become independent, less and less help parents in everyday life. On the other hand, a large part of parents finds themselves in a more difficult financial and economic situation and do not have real opportunities to help their children. It is necessary to recognize the paramount importance of the care of society and the state, especially in relation to two social groups - students and older people experiencing financial difficulties and in need of daily assistance. The manifestation of care on the part of society and the state, systematic targeted support for the most financially vulnerable groups of the population in its own way will support the modern meanings of traditional relations of solidarity and mutual assistance of generations in everyday life.

Studies on critical thinking (CT) in education have been of paramount importance in recent decades to help individuals develop skills such as analyzing, synthesizing, higher-order thinking, and assessing. In line with such studies, this study aims to examine aspects of critical thinking dispositions of Turkish adult learners of English in a listening/speaking class (N = 17) based on the inventory developed by The California Critical Thinking Dispositions Inventory (CCTDI). The study was in nature idiographic and phenomenographic with content analysis. The findings show that the participants were better in developing the aspects of being inquisitive, truth-seeking, open-minded and confident, while the aspects of systematicity, analyticity, and cognitive maturity were less developed by the participants. These developed skills included the main features of the seven aspects of critical thinking dispositions.

Knowledge concerning continuously improving branches of science such as biotechnology in particular is difficult to be understood properly by students, or they learn it incorrectly. One of the most important reasons for this is that students cannot associate in their mind the relevant concepts. The aim of this research is to determine prospective biology teachers’ conceptual framework of biotechnology, and thus determining their cognitive structure. The data were collected from 34 prospective biology teachers. Considering the fact that these prospective biology teachers had taken biotechnology course previously, they were selected on the basis of volunteering. Word association test and draw-and-write technique were used in collecting the data. The data obtained were organised on the basis of qualitative content analysis. Then the data were grouped into 7 categories (methods/techniques, biotechnology applications, genetics, other branches of science, organisms, meaning attributed to biotechnology, laboratory) according to word association test, and into 4 categories (methods/techniques, biotechnology applications, genetics, organisms) according to draw-and-write technique. According to the research findings, almost half of the prospective teachers had correct and appropriate associations for biotechnology, whereas a considerable part of them did not have adequate conceptual associations. Also, it was found that prospective teachers had misconceptions about biotechnology. Key words: teaching of biotechnology, cognitive structure, draw-and-write technique, word association test.
