Purpose: Digital replantation has dramatically changed the fate of mutilated injuries of hand. But in case of severe crushing injury in Tamai zone I, it is a contraindication of replantation. This study aims to determine the replantation survival rate in cases with crushing injury. Methods: We retrospectively evaluated patients’ charts and photos from January 2015 to December 2019. There were 294 patients (331 fingers) with digital amputation who underwent surgery. Cases with crushing were divided into petechiae-in-skin group and red-line-sign group and compared with the group without crushing. The relationship of survival rate with factors was evaluated using chi-square analysis. Results: Of these, 199 fingers were defined as severe crushed, and 140 cases with petechiae in skin and 59 cases with red line sign. There was no statistically significant difference in survival rate compared with the group without crushing (p=0.227). Additional surgery was performed more in crushed injury. However, necrotized soft tissue was mainly on margin of amputation, not on crushed area. Conclusion: The presence of crushing did not affect survival rate in Tamai zone I replantation. However, as the degree of crushing was severe, the need for additional surgery increased. We found that the number of anastomosed arteries and veins influences the survival rate. According to our analysis, even if it’s difficult, finding and doing anastomosis as many vessels as possible can make good results.

Abstract Background to evaluate the distribution of lingual foramina (LF) and their correlation with demographic characteristics and mandible width in a series of patients subjected to cone-beam CT (CBCT). Methods CBCTs were reviewed to assess the number of all LF, midline and lateral LF. We also assessed the relationship of the number of lateral LF with gender and mandibular width using the Chi Square test. A p value < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results 300 patients (180 males; age range: 21-87years) were included. The highest frequency per patient was of 2 LF (97/300, 32.3%), followed by 3 (81/300, 27%) and 4 (53/300, 17.7%). No LF were observed in 2/300 patients (0.7%), while the highest number was of 8 LF in one patient. The highest frequency of midline LF per person was of 2 LF (57.3%, 172/300), while the highest number per person was 5 LF in one patient (0.3%). The highest frequency of midline LF located above and below the genial tubercle was of 1 in 197/300 patients (65.7%) and in 169/300 patients (56.3%), respectively. Concerning lateral LF, the highest frequencies were of 0 (113/300, 37.7%) and of 1 (112/300, 37.3%). We did not observe any significant difference of the number of midline and lateral LF based on gender (P = .438 and P = .195, respectively) or mandible width (P = .069 and P = .114, respectively). Conclusions We have shown the high variability of number and anatomic distribution of LF in an Italian group of patients subjected to CBCT without reporting any association with gender and mandible width.

Gonado-somatic index and fecundity are tools for measuring the sexual maturity and ability of animals to reproduce.  This study investigates the reproduction of Trichiurus lepturus. Specifically, this aimed to determine the sex ratio, the GSI, the relationship between fecundity and total length, fecundity and total weight, fecundity and ovary weight. The Descriptive Method of research was used.  Percentage and chi-square was utilized in determining the percentage of occurrence and sex ratio respectively.   Pearson r Product Moment Coefficient of Correlation was used to determine the relationships of the parameters. The study revealed that females outnumbered males and the sex ratio for different month showed significant difference.  Spawning season was observed to occur in November and December as revealed in its GSI values and it synchronized with the full and new moon phases.  Fecundity is positively correlated with body weight, body size, and ovary weight where ovary weight is observed to be the best index for fecundity.  The results of this study could be used further for formal stock assessment of cutlassfish fishery.

In mammals, serotonin (5-HT) levels depend on the availability of tryptophan (TRP). Low 5-HT concentrations have been linked to behavioural disorders in dogs. This study aimed at investigating possible differences in dogs’ serum TRP and 5-HT concentrations according to their behavioural response to a potentially stressful procedure. Thirty-nine physically healthy shelter dogs, 15 females and 24 males, mean age = 5.6 years, were categorized by a certified veterinary behaviourist according to their behavioural response to medical examination and blood collection, in: relaxation, stress signals, tension without growling, tension with growling, escape attempts, and aggression attempts. Extraction and quantification of 5-HT and TRP were performed using a HLPC method. Data were statistically analysed, applying Chi-square and Spearman tests. Results showed no significant difference in TRP (χ2 = 2.084, p = 0.555) nor 5-HT (χ2 = 0.972, p = 0.808) serum concentrations among different categories of dogs; however, some categories were underrepresented (relaxation = 20.5%, stress signals = 30.8%, tension without growling = 43.6%, tension with growling = 5.1%, escape attempts = 0%, aggression attempts = 0%). No correlation between serum TRP and 5-HT concentrations was found (ρ = 0.086, p = 0.602). Serum 5-HT levels do not seem to be associated with dogs’ behavioural response to a stressful situation nor with serum TRP concentrations. The relationship between serum TRP and 5-HT concentrations and behaviour needs further research.

To investigate the relationship of MUC1, MUC5AC, and the syndrome of spleen and stomach, 109 subjects (34 peptic ulcer (PU), 62 chronic gastritis (CG), and 13 healthy volunteers (CON)) were included. All the subjects included were surveyed with questionnaire to classify them into damp-heat syndrome of spleen and stomach (DHSS), spleen-qi deficiency syndrome (SQD), and CON, examined by gastric endoscope, and biopsied. Rapid urease and methylene blue staining (MBS) were performed on every subject to diagnose for Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection, and both were defined as Hp-positive. Hematoxylin and eosin (HE) staining was performed on every specimen to explore the histomorphology, inflammatory degree, and inflammatory activity of different groups; then Elivision™ plus kit was used to test the expression of MUC1 and MUC5AC. All the results of digital images were reviewed by two experts blindly. The inflammatory degree with Hp infection was higher than those uninfected or CON, but no significant difference was found between DHSS and SQD. And the expressions of MUC5AC with positive Hp was higher than those with negative Hp or CON regardless of the deficiency and solid syndrome of spleen-stomach but not for MUC1. We speculate that the deficiency and solid syndrome of spleen-stomach is a condition like Tai Ji symbol of dynamic equilibrium, showing the higher expression of MUC5AC but no change of MUC1 in the circumstance of Hp infection.

In the current era of globalization, humans always interact with technological developments. One result of the development of technology is the use of computers. The use of computers that are not under the ergonomic position causes effects on health, one of them is tension-type headaches. In the United States, 1-4% of patients coming to the Emergency Care Unit complain of headache, 90% of them are tension-type headaches. The proportion of migraine and other headache syndromes in the hospital. Harapan Bunda in 2011 and RS. Camatha Sahidya in Batam in Batam was 5% and 0.7% respectively. Whereas the incidence of tension headaches in 5 puskesmas in Batam in 2014 ranged from 0.5% - 1.3%. The proportion of tension headaches at the BIP Clinic in the January-April 2018 period is 1.5%. Tension-type headaches that occur continuously can cause barriers to daily activities. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship of computer use with the incidence of tension-type headaches in workers. This research uses a descriptive-analytic method with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique is purposive sampling. Of 97 respondents who visited the clinical BIP that met the criteria, it was found that computer user respondents experienced tension-type headaches of 18 people (42.9%) and not tension-type headaches of 24 people (57.1%). Whereas the respondents who were not computer users experienced tension-type headaches of 10 people (18.2%), and non-tension-type headaches of 45 people (81.8%). Bivariate chi-square analysis showed that p = 0.008 (p <0.05). This means that Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected.

Postpartum hemorrhage is bleeding that occurs after the birth of the baby, placenta, and 2 hours after the placenta is born. One of the causes is anemia. Research in 2015, 60% of 100 mothers giving birth at RSIA Kirana Taman Sidoarjo experienced postpartum hemorrhage. The aim of the study was to determine the relationship of anemia in pregnancy with the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage in labor mothers. The study design used an analytical survey with a retrospective method. The population of 206 maternity mothers was taken with simple random sampling technique as many as 136 samples in August 2017. Data were analyzed by Chi Square statistical test with 0.05. The results showed that postpartum hemorrhage was more experienced by mothers with anemia (66.7%) than  those without anemia (26.2%). While those who did not experience postpartum hemorrhage were more experienced by mothers who were not anemic (73.8%) than those who were anemic (33.3%). Chi square test results  (p=0.000  <0.05),  which means there is a relationship  of anemia in pregnancy with the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage in labor mothers. Conclusions of the study were the relationship of anemia in pregnancy with the  incidence  of postpartum hemorrhage in labor mothers. It is expected that midwives and doctors conduct early detection of anemia so that appropriate care can be carried out.
