This study has investigated the extent to which individual and contextual factors determine the entrepreneurial intention in Bangladesh. Also, this study examined the comparative impact of both individual and contextual factors on entrepreneurial intentions. Sample data (n = 270) have been collected through using a survey questionnaire from a renowned public university of Bangladesh. This study has applied both correlation analysis and hierarchical regression for testing the hypotheses. Total eight hypotheses are tested to examine the influence of seven independent variables on entrepreneurial intentions, in which six factors have been found as significant predictors of entrepreneurial intentions. The correlation analysis revealed that risk-taking, locus of control, self-efficacy, and job autonomy are significantly correlated with entrepreneurial intention at 5% significance level. The regression result indicated that individual factors such as risk-taking, locus of control, self-efficacy, and job autonomy and contextual factors such as social networks and university educational program have positive effect on entrepreneurial intention. The study also found out that individual factors have more influence on entrepreneurial intentions than contextual variables. This paper also offers some implications for academic scholars.

This study aims to identify whether there is a significant relationship between risk-taking and student entrepreneurship intentions. In this study using quantitative methods with a psychological measurement scale. The technique in this research uses incidental sample technique with 260 respondents. Measuring instruments used in this study are the Entrepreneurial Intention Questionnaire (EIQ) and DOSPERT (Domain-Specific Risk-Taking). The statistical analysis used in this study is Kendall's tau-b test. The results showed Sig. (2-tailed) <0.05 which means that there is a significant relationship between risk-taking and entrepreneurial intentions in students. The relationship in this study is positive in that the higher the risk-taking of students, the entrepreneurial intentions are also high.

Objective - Unemployment and marketability among graduates are the country’s current issues. This became clear when the unemployment percentage among graduates continued to increase yearly. Therefore, entrepreneurship education has been chosen as an alternative solution. However, currently, student involvement in entrepreneurship is still low. As low involvement occurs among students, especially those in private colleges, students may lack entrepreneurial behavior and intentions. Therefore, this study aims to identify the level of the entrepreneurial behavior and intentions among Bumiputra’s students studying in Kuala Lumpur’s private colleges. Methodology/Technique – A total of 387 students participated in a quantitative survey. Using a questionnaire as the study’s research instrument, the data were analyzed using SPSS version 22.0. Finding - The findings showed that the entrepreneurial behavior and intentions among students are at a moderate level. Pearson correlation coefficients indicated a significantly positive, although moderate, relationship between entrepreneurial behavior and entrepreneurial intentions. The result suggests that to increase the number of entrepreneurs among students in Malaysia, all stakeholders should be involved in inculcating an entrepreneurial culture. Novelty -An innovative and practical-based entrepreneurship curriculum should be developed to encourage students to choose entrepreneurship as a career option upon graduation. Purpose The purpose of this paper is to contribute to research on individual entrepreneurial intention (IEI) by assessing the importance of entrepreneurship education to students in vocational training programmes and using the theory of planned behaviour (TPB) to analyse these students’ entrepreneurial intentions. The family background of the students and their exposure to entrepreneurship subject matter were included as antecedents of TPB components and IEI. Design/methodology/approach To test the research model, the primary data were collected with questionnaires distributed to students in their last year of vocational training programmes with and without entrepreneurship coursework, in a region of Northern Portugal. The data were analysed using structural equation modelling. Findings The results show that TPB dimensions substantially contribute to explaining students’ IEI. However, their family background makes only a minor contribution, and exposure to entrepreneurship education has no influence on IEI. Research limitations/implications Given these results, the authors propose a broader discussion is needed of the importance of introducing business classes into the curricula of vocational training programmes. Originality/value This research’s results show that IEI models need to assign greater importance to variables related to previous exposure to entrepreneurial experiences through direct family members. The findings contribute to a fuller understanding of IEI and the factors that precede the formation of this intention among students in training programmes.

This study adopted a survey with correlation approach to obtain a greater understanding for the phenomenon. The data were collected using purposive method from questionnaire with a five-point Likert scale to voluntary respondents and were analyzed using SPPS application. The findings of the study indicate that the variable of subjective norm, attitude, self-efficacy, locus of control, entrepreneurship education and adversity quotient successfully drive students’ entrepreneurial intention. Entrepreneurial intention is affected by various factors, namely the need for achievement and risk-taking propensity. This study aims to fill a research gap regarding numerous previous studies about Student Entrepreneurship Program (PMW). However, there has not been a study that involved the need for achievement and risk-taking propensity by mediating entrepreneurial attitudes as a form entrepreneurial intention among the Generation Z of PMW participants. The research approach is quantitative by distributing questionnaires to 61 Generation Z who were the participants of PMW 2020. Hypothesis tests were carried out by the Path Analysis. The results of this study indicated that: the need for achievement and the risk-taking propensity was proven to positively influence entrepreneurial intentions; however, the entrepreneurial attitude was not proven to mediate the influence of the need for achievement on entrepreneurial intentions; as well as the entrepreneurial attitude was not proven to mediate the influence of the need for achievement on entrepreneurial intentions.

This study investigates the entrepreneurial intention levels and career decisions of a sample of 340 university students studying sport sciences. Entrepreneurship refers to a career-related choice that is driven by a risk-taking and innovation imperative. Entrepreneurs of the future are expected to make their career related choices well before they move into labor markets. In this context, this study attempts to designate young adults’ entrepreneurial intentions which are considered to be highly related with their career decisions. The study also tests the potential effects of career decisions on entrepreneurial intentions. The findings of the study evidence the significant effect of conscious career choice on entrepreneurial propensity. A blind career choice is found to be also correlated with entrepreneurial intentions, albeit less so than the conscious career choice. The environmental factors subscale of career choice proves to be insignificant in terms of entrepreneurial propensity within the scope of this study’s sample group. Findings are discussed with a view to practical implications.

Higher education institutions should be able to change the mindset of students who are not only as job seekers, but also job creators especially when educated unemployment in Indonesia increases every year. Entrepreneurship is one solution in tackling unemployment and poverty which will encourage national economic growth. This study examines the effect of self-efficacy and contextual environment on entrepreneurial behavior with entrepreneurial intention as an intervening variable using Theory of Planned Behavior. The subjects of this study were Semarang State University students who owned a business and joined the UNNES Student Entrepreneurship Center (UNSEC) and Himpunan Pengusaha Muda Indonesia Perguruan Tinggi (HIPMI PT) Semarang State University totaling 310 students. The results showed a direct relationship between self-efficacy and contextual environment towards entrepreneurial behavior and indirect relationships through entrepreneurial intentions. It was proved by the moderating role of entrepreneurial intention in facilitating the relationship of self-efficacy and contextual environment to student entrepreneurial behavior in accordance with the Theory of Planned Behavior. Future studies can use elements of social and demographic psychology that are more complete and involve a wider population.
