The aim of our research to examine the phenotype of lymphocytes and basophils in children with atopic asthma. Materials and methods. A total of 150 children aged 5 to 18 years: 130 patients with asthma, 20 children in the control group. Determines the level of the following indicators of lymphocytes and basophils: СD3+, CD4+, СD4+CD25+, CD19+CD23+, CD203с+, СD203с+CD63+, CD203с+IgE. Results. In the study of lymphocyte phenotype determined that the level of CD4+, СD4+CD25+, CD19+ lymphocytes had no statistically significant differences from the control group of children (p>0,05). The relative level of CD3+ lymphocytes was significantly different from the control group level (p<0,05), but was within the reference values. The level of CD203с+CD63+ basophils, CD203с+IgE was significantly higher in children with asthma than children in the control group (p<0,01), while the absolute level CD203c+ basophils had no significant differences. Conclusion. The findings of the study results suggest that children with asthma the level of activated basophils statistically higher, indicating their participation in the development of the disease.

The aim of the research was to study the phenotype of eosinophils in children with atopic bronchial asthma and their role as diagnostic criteria of the disease. Materials and methods. We have examined 130 children aged from 6 to 18 years old with atopic bronchial asthma. The control group consisted of 40 healthy children from 6 to 18 years old, who didn’t have allergic diseases. During the research the relative and absolute levels of eosinophils, the level of eosinophils carrying FcεRI and FcεRII (CD23) – receptors were established. Results. The relative level of eosinophils in asthmatic children was 6.00% [3.00; 8.00], the absolute level – 417.00 cells/μL [232.00; 636,00], which is significantly higher compared to control group, where the relative level was 2.50% [1.00; 3.00%] and the absolute level was 166.50 cells/μl [86.00; 213.00] (p<0.001). The level of eosinophils carrying the FcεRI receptor was 420,00 cells/μl [250,00; 660,00], which is significantly higher than in the control group – 200,00 cells/μl [140,00; 240.00] (p<0.001). The relative level of eosinophils carrying CD23 receptor on their surface was 62.20% [35.40; 76.60] and the absolute level –223.37 cells/μl [105.30; 375.24]. The results are significantly higher than those of the control group: 25.45% [14.30; 30,60] (p<0,001), and 30,88 cells/μl [25,63; 42.84] (p <0.0001) respectively. It was found in the ROC-analysis that there is high evidence of presence of atopic bronchial asthma if absolute levels of eosinophils carrying CD23 receptor was 73.008 cells/μl or more or the relative index – 35.10% and more. Conclusions. The relative and absolute levels of eosinophils, as well as eosinophils carrying FcεRI and CD23 receptors are statistically significantly higher in atopic bronchial asthma than in control group patients. Increased number or relative index (73.008 cells/μl or ≥ 35.10% respectively) of eosinophils carrying CD 23 receptors can be considered as a diagnostic criterion of atopic bronchial asthma.

Regulation of the immune response in asthma is complex. MicroRNA-126 (miR-126) expression has been implicated in this response, so we sought to determine the clinical significance of miR-126 measured in the peripheral blood. A total of 80 children with acute asthma were selected to participate in the study and were compared to 80 healthy children. The relative circulating miR-126 levels, interleukin (IL)-4 levels, and the Th17 cell percentage in the peripheral blood of children in the case group were significantly higher than those in the control group, while the interferon (IFN)-γ levels and the CD4+CD25+Treg cell percentage were significantly lower than those in the control group. Along with the aggravation of the disease, the relative levels of miR-126 and IL-4 and the percentage of Th17 cells increased gradually, while the IFN-γ levels and the CD4+CD25+Treg cell percentage decreased. The relative level of miR-126 in the peripheral blood of children with asthma was positively correlated with IL-4 and the Th17 cell percentage and was negatively correlated with IFN-γ levels, CD4+CD25+Treg cell percentage and lung function indicators. The relative level of miR-126 was correlated with the Th17 cell percentage in the peripheral blood, forced vital capacity (FVC), and forced expiratory flow (FEF)75% of the children with asthma. The relative levels of miR-126 and IL-4 and the Th17 cell percentage were positively correlated with the severity of the asthma, while IFN-γ levels and the CD4+CD25+Treg cell percentage were negatively correlated with the severity of the asthma. CD4+CD25+Treg cell percentage and relative miR-126 levels were of the most predictive value in the diagnosis of asthma. Our findings show that the overexpression of miR-126 in acute asthma is correlated with signs of immune imbalance and is predictive of the severity of the disease, suggesting that it could be used as a potential serological marker for asthma diagnosis and evaluation.

PURPOSE: To compare the orofacial functions (chewing, swallowing and speech) in children with asthma and healthy children. METHODS: A cross sectional study including 54 children of both genders with ages between 7 and 10 years was conducted. Twenty-seven of these subjects composed the experimental group, and were subdivided into two severity levels of asthma: Group I - mild intermittent and persistent asthma; Group II - persistent moderate to severe asthma. Twenty-seven healthy children were included in the control group (Group III). Speech-language pathology evaluation used the adapted Orofacial Myofunctional Assessment Protocol. Adaptation consisted in the exclusion of the structural part of the test, since this was not the aim of the study. The structural part was excluded because it was not the aim of this study. RESULTS: It was found alterations in oral functions, with significant differences between the three groups. These alterations showed no correlation with asthma severity, since the highest rate of alterations was found in Group I (mild asthma). CONCLUSION: Regardless of the severity level, children with asthma have altered patterns of chewing, swallowing and speech.

In recent years there has been growing evidence to suggest a major role of basophils alongside eosinophils and mast cells in allergic inflammation. The aim of this study was to analyze the dynamics of the basophil phenotypes after the use of magneto-la-ser therapy in children with atopic bronchial asthma. Materials and methods. A total of 66 children with mild persistent atopic bronchial asthma (aged 6 to 18 years old) were examined. Group A included 34 children who received magneto-laser therapy together with basic asthma treatment (low dose of inhaled corticosteroids). Group B included 32 children who received only basic asthma therapy. The level of CD203с + , CD203с + CD63 + , CD203с + IgE + basophils was determined in peripheral blood in the beginning of the study, after 2 weeks and after 3 months. Results. A statistically significant decrease in the absolute levels of CD203с+CD63+ and CD203с + IgE + basophils and in the relative level of CD203с + IgE + among all CD203с + basophils was determined in group A after magneto-laser therapy. The comparison of group A and group B indices revealed a significant difference between the relative level of CD203с + IgE + basophils after 12-15 days from the beginning of the study. This indicator was significantly lower in group A than in group B (p<0.05). The absolute level of CD203с + IgE + basophils was significantly lower in group A in comparison with group B after 82-90 days (p<0.05). Conclusions. Magneto-laser therapy can change the phenotype of basophils in children with atopic bronchial asthma, causing suppression of proallergic pa-rameters. Considering these results there is reason to believe, that it is possible to use this method as an additional immunocorrective treatment in patients with basophilic phenotype of atopic asthma.

According to various epidemiological studies, the prevalence of bronchial asthma (BA) in children in Ukraine ranges from 5 to 12%. Despite numerous studies of etiological factors, mechanisms of pathogenesis, the creation of international and national programs, until now it is not possible to take control of the morbidity and course of asthma. Therefore, the purpose of our study is to determine the clinical features of the course of bronchial asthma in children, depending on the age and level of disease control. We examined 227 children with asthma aged 6 to 17 years. In the objective examination, respiratory failure, shortness of breath, dry cough, nasal breathing difficulties, wheezy breathing, emphysema, bloating of the chest, were taken into account. The statistical processing of the results was carried out using the IBM SPSS Statistics, version 20 (2013), using parametric and non-parametric methods for evaluating the results. Under supervision were 181 boys (79.73±0.5%), from the total number of examined patients with asthma and 46 girls (20.27±1.98%). The control group included 40 practically healthy children aged 6 to 17 years. It was established that the persistent course of light and medium severity was noted 2.5 times more often than the severe course of asthma, and also 2.4 and 2 times more often (p≤0.01) in the age group of 6–11 years, unlike children 12–17 years old. Severe exacerbations were twice as likely to occur in patients with asthma-mediated etiology, and lungs — in patients with atopic asthma. Uncontrolled levels of the disease were noted 1.6–2 times more often in non-atopic form of asthma, than in its other variants. Thus, among children with asthma, mixed asthma and non-atopic asthma with an uncontrolled course, there is a clear need to find factors that are trigger in the development of exacerbations of the disease, determine their duration and severity, which helps to prevent the progression of asthma and avoid complications.

Introduction: People with asthma often have sedentary lifestyles and are less physically, mentally, and cardio-respiratory prepared than their peers. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the effect of selected Yoga exercises on thoracic spine alignment and respiratory capacity indices in children with asthma. Methods: The present research is a quasi-experimental study with a pretest-posttest design. For this purpose, 30 children with mild asthma were included in the study purposefully and voluntarily. The subjects were randomly divided into a control group (15 people with mean [SD] age: 11.40 [ 2.13] years) and an experimental group (15 people with mean [SD] age: 10.60 [1.76] years). Written informed consent was obtained from the parents of the children. Flexible ruler and spirometry were used to evaluate the curvature of the thoracic spine and respiratory capacity, respectively. To analyze the results of this study, we used a dependent t test and analysis of covariance at a significance level of P<0.05. Results: The present study results showed a significant difference between the thoracic spine curvature (P = 0.001) and increased respiratory capacity (P = 0.001). Conclusion: Breathing exercises and asanas of Yoga positively influence the extensor muscles of the chest and improve lung function and postural misalignment in children with asthma. Therefore, therapists, coaches, and exercise teachers are recommended to use Yoga exercises to improve the physical, postural, and respiratory indices of children with asthma.

Many mothers who give birth to Sectio Caesarea (SC) do not Initiate Early Breastfeeding (IMD), which fails exclusive breastfeeding. This study aimed to determine the effect of IMD management in postpartum SC mothers on nutritional status, speed of milk production, and quality of breast milk protein. Method: quantitative research with quasi approach experiment. The research design used was a pre-post-test control non-equivalent control group. A sampling of this study used the Consecutive method sampling with a sample of 20 mothers who gave birth by cesarean section (SC). Hypothesis testing uses the independent t-test and the Mann-Whitney test. The study results showed an influence on the management of IMD in postpartum SC mothers on the speed of ASI production (p-value=0.004) and nutritional status (p-value=0.028). There was no effect of IMD management on postpartum SC mothers on the quality of breast milk protein (p-value = 0.543). This study recommends that the hospital implement an IMD promotion program before the abdominal wall is closed as a form of intervention to increase milk production and maternal nutritional status

The study included 62 women of reproductive age (mean age of 33.5±2.3 years) who were screened in the Kiev city center reproductive and perinatal medicine. Women were divided into 2 groups. The first (main) group consisted of 32 patients who received the proposed treatment using herbal remedies Mastofemin 1 capsule 2 times per day for 3 months; 30 patients of the second (control) group were under observation and received no treatment. These groups were representative and homogeneous on age, clinical symptoms and sonographic characteristics. The clinical method included evaluation of complaints of patients, anamnesis, presence of concomitant gynecologic pathology, inspection, palpation of the lymph nodes and the breast and obtaining a discharge from the nipples to conduct cytological examination, which allowed excluding from the study women with suspected malignancy of the process. All the patients were performed ultrasound examination of the breast. The review was supplemented with vaginal gynecological examination and ultrasound examination of small pelvis organs to assess the condition of the uterus and its appendages, the diagnosis of gynecological diseases. Results. Summarizing obtained in this study results one should stress the positive long-term effect of applying Mastofemin for the treatment of proliferative changes of the breast in women of reproductive age. This is manifested by a decrease in the intensity of clinical signs of mastitis, consistent with the results of sonographic control. Established positive dynamics in the treatment of cystic mastitis, dectective and when combined cystic mastopathy with dectective. In the control group of patients for a given observation period (6 months) no significant changes in clinical signs of mastitis and sonographic characteristics. Regression of disease has not occurred in any of the patients, in 2 patients increased sensitivity of the breast after 6 months moved to the soreness. Sonographic characteristics of mastitis during the observation period did not change. Thus, the use of Mastofemin aimed at pathogenetic treatment of mastitis and prevention of breast cancer. Conclusion. Application of Mastofemin during the treatment of mastitis in women of reproductive age significantly improves the clinical condition of patients; reduce the subjective and objective symptoms of the disease. The positive effect of the treatment with Mastofemin proved in the case of the treatment of sonographic following forms of mastitis: cystic mastopathy, cystic mastopathy with dectectasy. Caring for the persons with first episode psychosis is challenging and demanding. It may lead to the increased burden, expressed emotions among the caregivers. The numerous studies have shown that high burden and negative expressed emotions among caregivers can lead to early relapse in the patients with first episode psychosis. To evaluate the effects of the brief psychoeducation on the caregivers burden and expressed emotions. A quasi experimental - before and after with control group research design was adopted for the study. A total of 60 caregivers have participated in the study, of which 30 caregivers in experimental group and 30 caregivers in the control group. Family Burden Interview Schedule (Pai and Kapoor, 1981) and Attitude Questionnaire (Sethi et al., 1981) was used to assess caregiver's burden and expressed emotions. At end of the psychoeducation intervention, burden among caregivers and negative expressed emotions of the caregivers have significantly reduced. The positive expressed emotions have been increased. Study results demonstrates the importance of psychoeducation intervention in reducing the burden and negative expressed emotions.
