Tofu industrial waste has the potential to become contaminant when it is not maximum processed, so it needs appropriate treatment to minimize the occurrence of pollution. β-Glucans can be produced from the yeast cell wall of Saccharomyces cerevisiae.As a feed supplement, β-Glucans have been used for an immunostimulant because it can increase the immune system. This study aimed to establish a suitable technology to produce β-Glucans fromSaccharomyces cerevisiae by utilize tofu waste as feed supplement. The Completely Randomized Design (CRD) model was used in the experimental method. This study used an experimental method with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) model.The treatment given wereP1: 1kg of tofu waste + 1kg of bran +0.2 kg fish meal + 0.2 lt molasses + 5.5 gSaccharomyces cerevisiae; P2: 1kg of tofu waste + 1kg of bran +0.2 kg fish meal + 0.2 lt molasses + 6.5 g Saccharomyces cerevisiae; P3: 1kg of tofu waste + 1kg bran + 0.2 kg fish meal +0.2 lt molasses + 7.5 g Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Each treatment was repeated 3 times, and fermented for five days.The results found that P1 by Saccharomyces cerevisiae 5.5 g was the best formulation to produced crude β-Glucans by weight of 25.9 g/kg of waste. Production of β-Glucans as an animal feed supplement is a waste-based feed technology development which is expected to increase livestock production both in quality and quantity.

EFFECT OF SUBSTITUTION OF FISH MEAL WITH MAGGOT (Hermetia Illucens) MEAL ON CALCIUM (Ca) AND PHOSPHORUS (P) DIGESTIBILITY OF BROILER CHICKEN. As an animal feed, maggot from black soldier fly (Hermetia Illucens) has high calcium (Ca)  and phosphorus (P) content. Yet, little is known about the digestibility of calcium (Ca) and phosphorus (P) in the diet containing maggot. The present study was designed to determine the effect of substitution of fish meal with maggot (Hermetia illucens) meal in the diets on (Ca) and phosphorus (P) digestibility of broiler chicken. Twenty day old chicks (DOC) CP 707 broiler chicken of about 1300-1500 g body weight were assigned to each dietary treatment which was replicated four times in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) arrangment. The experimental diet consisted of 5 treatments and 4 replications, formulated as follow: R0 = 100% fish meal  + 0% maggot meal; R1 = 75% fish meal + 25% maggot meal; R2 = 50% fish meal + 50% maggot meal; R3 = 25% fish meal + 75% maggot meal; and R4 = 0% fish meal + 100% maggot meal. Calcium (Ca) and phosphorus (P) digestibility were calculated using total collection method. Parameters measured were calcium (Ca) and phosphorus (P) digestibility. Differences were considered significant at P < 0.05. Tukey test (HSD) was employed to further analyze among treatment diferences. The results showed that calcium (Ca) digestibility was significantly (P < 0,05) increased as the level of maggot (Hermetia Illucens) meal in the diets increased; whereas the digestibility of phosphorus (P) was not significantly (P > 0,05) affected by the treatments. It can be concluded utilization of maggot (Hermetia illucens) meal up to 100% replaced fish meal or  15% in the diet, inreased calcium (Ca) digestibility and did not affect phosphorus (P) digestibility of broiler chicken.   Key words: Fish meal, Maggot (Hermetia Illucens) meal, Calcium and Phosphours digestibility

AbstrakPengolahan bioetanol yang berbahan singkong menghasilkan limbah padat yang masih jarang dimanfaatkan dan berpotensi sebagai pakan ternak. Maka sebelum diberikan pada ternak perlu dilakukan proses pengolahan melalui fermentasi. Salah satu jamur yang memiliki kemampuan dalam proses fermentasi adalah Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kandungan nutrien limbah padat pengolahan bioetanol dari singkong (Manihot esculenta) melalui fermentasi oleh Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode eksperimental menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) pola faktorial 3 x 3 dengan ulangan tiga kali dengan dosis  inokulum (D)  masing-masing D1 = 2g, D2 = 3g dan D3 = 4g. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan protein bervariasi dari 2% menjadi 3,05% dan penurunan kandungan kadar serat hasil fermentasi bervariasi dari 2,12%-2,36%. Kandungan HCN mengalami penurunan yang sangat signifikan dari 16,06% menjadi 0,74%. Kesimpulan bahwa fermentasi limbah padat bioetanol dengan menggunakan Saccharomyces cerevisiae dapat meningkatkan protein, menurunkan serat dan kadar HCN.Kata kunci : fermentasi, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, limbah padat bioetanol.AbstractProcessing of bioethanol made from cassava produces solid waste that is still rarely used and potentially as fodder. Therefore, before it is given to the cattle, it needs to be processed through fermentation. One of the fungi that have the ability in the process of fermentation is Saccharomyces cerevisiae. This study aims to determine the increase of nutrient content of the waste bioethanol processing from cassava (Manihot esculenta) through fermentation by Saccharomyces cerevisiae. This research was conducted with an experimental method using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) 3 x 3 factorial with three replications with a dose of inoculum (SC) respectively SC1 = 2g, 3g and SC2 = SC3 = 4g;. The results shows that increasing the protein varies from 2% to 3,05% and decreased levels of fiber content of fermented varies from 2,12% - 2,36%. The content of HCN is decreased significantly from 16,06% to 0,74%. The conclusion that solid waste bioethanol fermentation using Saccharomyces cerevisiae can increase protein, fiber and lower levels of HCN.

The aim of the study was to determine the level of use of fermented snail meat protein hydrolyzate (FSMPH) as a reduction of fish meal (FM) in the ration, and its effect on the production performance of “super” native chicken (SNC). Research materials were SNC unsexing and FSMPH. The study used an experimental method with a completely randomized design with 5 treatments and 4 replications. The research ration treatments were: P0 = FM 8% without FSMPH (Control), P1= TI 6%+FSMPH 5 ml/kg ration, P2= TI 4%+FSMPH 10 ml/kg ration, P3= TI 2%+FSMPH 15 ml/kg ration, P4= TI 0%+FSMPH 20 ml/kg ration. The results showed that the a reduction of FM with FSMPH on SNC ration consumption at each level had no significant effect (P>0.05) on control feed, BW, BWG, and FCR in P1, P2, and P3 treatments on control feed, but showed a significant difference (P<0.05) in lower BW, BWG, and higher FCR in P4 treatment of SNC fed with 8% (control). The conclusion was that FSMPH can be used as a reduction  for FM up to 75% of the use of FM in the ration as much as 8%.

ENERGYANDPROTEIN DIGESTIBILITY OF BROILER CHICKEN CONSUMING MAGGOT (HERMETIA ILLUCENS) MEAL SUBSTITUTING FISH MEAL IN THE DIETS. Yet, little is known about the digestibility of energy and protein in the diet containing maggot. The present study was conducted to determine the effect of substitution of fish meal with maggot meal in the diets on energy and protein digestibility of broiler chicken. Twenty chicks were assingned to each dietary treatment which was replicated four times in a completely randomized design (CRD). Tretaments were formulated as follow: R0 = 100% fish meal (15% in the diet) + 0% maggot meal (0% in the diet); R1 = 75% fish meal (11,25% in the diet) + 25% maggot meal (3.75% in the diet); R2 = 50% fish meal (7.5% in the diet) + 50% maggot meal (7.5% in the diet); R3 = 25% fish meal (3.75% in the diet) + 75% maggot meal (11.25% in the diet); and R4 = 0% fish meal (0% in the diet) + 100% maggot meal (15% in the diet). Parameters measured were energy and protein digestibility. Energy and protein digestibility were calculated using the indicator (internal lignin) method. All data was submitted to the ANOVA procedure for completely randomized design. Differences were considered significantat (P< 0.05). The results showed that dry matter, energy, and protein digestibility were increased significantly (P < 0.05) compared to R0, R2, R3, and R4. No significant difference (P > 0.05)  were found among R0, R2, R3, and R4. It can be concluded that the maggot flour is best used to the level of 25% replacing fish meal or 11.25% in the ration. However, the result of this study indicate that maggot flour can be used up to 100% replace fish meal in broiler chicken rations without any negative effect on digestibility of dry matter, energy, and protein. Good quality animal feed was a determining factor for the success of livestock industry. Maggot BSF had the potential as a promising protein source feed. The aimed of this researceh was to investigate digestibility of crude protein, dry matter, organic matter of BSF maggot flour. The maggot was kept in media of fermented palm oil coir (FPOC) with dose of fermenter 1, 3, 5%. The maggot processed into flour and fed to kampong chickens. The reseach was conducted experimentally using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments were: M0 (fish meal), M1 (Maggot FPOC 1%), M2 (maggot FPOC 3%) and M3 (maggot FPOC 5%). Based on the results of the study, it was found that BSF had a significant effect (P <0.05) on protein digestibility (M0 = 75.70, M1 = 63.03, M2 = 73.32, and M3 = 56.24), a very significant effect (P <0.01) on the digestibility of dry matter (M0 = 64.72, M1 = 44.08, M2 = 44.26, and M3 = 37.43), and the digestibility of organic matter (M0 = 68.59, M1 = 45, 32, M2 = 48.08, and M3 = 47.47). Maggot flour from FPOC 3% produced good crude protein digestibility in kampong chicken compared to FPOC 1% and 3% .

Animal feed should ideally be inexpensive and not competing with humans. Ampas know is a waste of the manufacture of tofu that contains protein and high energy. Its use has problems due to the existence of antinutrient and cannot be kept long. Lactobacillus Plantarum is a lactic acid (Gram-positive) bacteria used in the fermentation process to improve the quality of feed. The goal of fermentation is to remove the anti-nutrients that exist in the tofu pulp and increase the content of Isoflavone (Daidzin, Glycitein, and Genistein) and Isoflavone is a source of antioxidants important to growth. The study uses a Completely Randomized Design with 5 treatment of microbial culture concentrations of 1%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% (V/w), respectively repeated 3 times. The result of analyzes in the pulp of tofu fermentation suggests that fermentation by Lactobacillus Plantarum can increase the content of Daidzein, Glycitein, and genistein with the highest value resulting from the use of L. Plantarum 20% respectively 191.21 + 24.9 μg/g, 85.96 μg/g, and 120.82 μg/g. It can be concluded that the higher the use of the concentration of L. Plantarum in tofu pulp can increase the levels of isoflavone, so it is advisable to conduct research with the concentration of L. Plantarum higher in tofu pulp

Diseases is a problem in aquaculture, one of which is the diseases caused by the bacteriumP.fluorescens. Antibiotics and chemicals materials themselves can give the bacterium resistance and cause harm for the environment. One alternative that can be done is using a natural material, namely the rod of ciplukan (p. angulata). The purpose of this research was to explain the effect of P. angulata on the growth of p. fluorescens. The method which can be use is experimental method by using the research design of completely randomized design (ral) with 5 treatment and 2 control with 3 repetitions. The results showed that extract of P. angulata at various dose (6,67 ppt, 13,33 ppt, 19,99 ppt, 26,66 ppt and 33,33 ppt) exhibited anti-P. fluorescens activity with inhibition zone diameters in the range of (4,06±0,07 mm - 9,63±1,61 mm). Increashing extract dose lead to increased the inhibition zone. The extract dose of 33,33 ppt exhibited best anti-P. fluorescens activity in this research. The research results show that P. angulata is proven to be able to inhibit the P. fluorescens, but to prove the effectiveness of this material, an in vivo is required.

Spodoptera exigua is a migrant pest that attacks onions simultaneously in groups. The utilization of papaya leaves to control pests due to papaya leaves have toxic compounds that can kill pests. This study aims to measure the ability of papaya leaves to control S. exigua larvae. This research was conducted using a completely randomized design (CRD) experimental method with two treatment factors. The first factor was papaya leaf concentration (0 g / l, 30 g / l, 70 g / l, 100 g / l, 120 g / l), and the second factor is a mixture of kerosene. The treatment was repeated three times. The study was conducted at the Agrotechnology Laboratory, Agriculture Faculty Muhammadiyah University, South Tapanuli. The results showed that papaya leaves could kill S. exigua larvae. The highest mortality of S. exigua worms There were statistically significant non-treatments among treatments.

ABSTRACTThe research was conducted at the Aquaculture Laboratory, University of Lampung in May to July,  2018. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of substitution of fish meal with catfish head flour on the growth of catfish, and head flour dosage the best for catfish growth. The study used a Completely Randomized Design with 3 treatments and 3 replications A (100% fish meal), B (70% fish meal and 30% catfish flour), and C (40% fish meal and 60% catfish flour). Parameters observed included absolute growth, daily growth rate, protein retention, feed convertion ratio (FCR), survival rate (SR), and supporting parameters that is feed cost and water quality. The data obtained were analyzed by variance and continued with smallest real difference test with a 95% confidence level. The results showed that the proportion of catfish head flour in artificial feed had an effect on absolute weight growth and daily growth rate (P, 0.001). The proportion of the use of 30% starch in the feed of catfish has a real influence on absolute growth (40.25 ± 5.67 g), and daily growth rate (0.67 ± 0.09 g/day).Keywords : Catfish, catfish head waste, substitution, feed, growth

<p>Untuk mendapatkan cara pengolahan minyak kelapa yang lebih eisien dalam menghasilkan rendemen dan mutu yang tinggi dan tahan simpan serta aman dikonsumsi telah dilakukan penelitian pengaruh konsentrasi starter Saccharomyces cerevisiae dan lama fermentasi terhadap rendemen mutu minyak kelapa. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Balai Penelitian Tanaman Kelapa dan Palma Lain Manado dan Kebun Percobaan Mapanget sejak bulan Maret sampai Desember 2001. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap disusun secara faktorial, yaitu faktor A adalah konsentrasi starter Saccharomyces cerevisiae, terdiri dari 0%, 0.25%, 0.35%, 0.45% dan faktor B adalah lama fermentasi krim. terdiri dari 0 jam, 12 jam, dan 24 jam. Ulangan dilakukan sebanyak 2 kali. Hasil penelitian diperoleh rendemen minyak tertinggi 23.83% pada fermentasi krim selama 24 jam. Mutu minyak kelapa yang dihasilkan sebagai berikut kadar air 0.03 - 0.18%, asam lemak bebas 0.15 - 0.29%, warna bening dan bau harum/ normal, bilangan peroksida berkisar 0.20 - 0.40 meq/kg, mutu minyak kelapa tersebut memenuhi Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI) 01-2902-1992.</p><p>Kata kunci: Minyak kelapa, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, konsentrasi, fermentasi. rendemen, mutu</p><p> </p><p><strong>ABCTRACT </strong></p><p><strong>Effect of concentration of stater Saccharomyces cerevisiae and duration of fermentation on the content and quality of coconut oil</strong></p><p>Research on the effect of concentration of starter Saccharomyces cerevisiae on the content and quality of coconut oil was conducted at the Laboratory of Indonesian Coconut and Palmae Research Institute (ICOPRI) and Mapanget Research Instalation from March to December 2001. The objective of the research was to find out the effective technique and processing of coconut oil. The research used a completely randomized design with 2 factors and 2 replications. Factor A was the concentration of starter Saccharomyces cerevisiae of 0%, 0.25%, 0.35%, 0.45% and factor B was duration of fermentation consist of 0 hour, 12 hours, and 24 hours. The results showed that the highest yield of coconut oil is 23.83% was obtained by fermented coconut cream for 24 hours. The coconut oil had good quality with moisture content about 0.03 to 0.18%, free fatty acid content about 0.15 to 0.29%, colorless, good smell and peroxide value about 0.20 - 0.40 mcq/kg, the quality of coconut oil fulfilled the requirements of Indonesian National Standard (Standar Nasional Indonesia/SNI 01-2902-1992).</p><p>Key words: Coconut oil, Saccharomyces cerevisiae. concentration, fermentation, yield and quality</p>
