Megalithic sites, tourist assets in Lahat Regency besides waterfalls, are a wealth of culture in the past that have the potential to be a tourist attraction. The location of megalithic sites scattered in several subdistricts and mostly located outside the settlement becomes an obstacle to be developed as a tourist destination. The purpose of this research is to develop an integrated tourism strategy that composes megalithic sites, natural attractions, artificial attractions, settlements, and the empowerment of local communities. This research combines historical research and case study. The case study is used by observing the location of megalithic sites in several districts in the Lahat Regency. The rapid mapping of potential megalithic sites and tourist objects and developed into two zonings. Community empowerment is conducted by focusing on group discussion (FGD) involving related parties. Megalithic sites are unique, scattered over a wide area, and different geographic conditions make them difficult for tourists to visit. There are several megalithic sites in the settlement, plantation, or rice fields. Local Communities already have an understanding of utilizing homes as homestays. It is concluded that the determination of zonation in Lahat regency can direct the management of the megalithic site as a tourism object according to the site characteristics and the built environment through community empowerment. The first zoning is the location of megalithic sites on Pagaralam as the direction of tourist arrivals with the village of Gunung Kaya in the Jarai sub-district as the node, and the second zonation on Lahat as the direction of tourist arrivals with the village Sinjar Bulan in Gumay Ulu sub-district as the node. Megalithic site management strategy as an integrated tourist attraction is also carried out by utilizing all the existing potential.

Some of the renowned world tourism countries have special peculiarities in character in terms of their nature reserves and built environments; that made them stand out for their attractions and visits. These qualities range from conservation and preservation of nature reserves, built environments- epoch architectural supports over the years; historical heritage; political; religious; socio-economic; cultural; and  high technology that enhance culture. The virtues of multi- ethnic groups and multi- cultural nature gave Nigeria a rich cultural heritage, and she is blessed with natural wonders, unique wildlife, and a very favorable climate. More often than not less attention and importance are placed over the nature reserves and built environments to the detriment of tourism in lieu of other sectors. Summarily the country lacks the culture of conservation and preservation of her abundant resources to promote cultural tourism. Case study strategy was applied in the research tours with reports of personal experiences, documentaries and analyses of sites visited in Europe and Nigeria were highlighted with references to their attributes in terms of structures and features that made up the sites as relate to culture and attraction. The task in keeping rural, city landscapes and nature reserves alive stands out as the secret of communication link from the past to present and the future; which tourism developed nations reap as benefits for tourist attraction.

ABSTRACT When European colonists arrived in the late 19th century, large villages dotted the coastline of the Gulf of Papua (southern Papua New Guinea). These central places sustained long-distance exchange and decade-spanning ceremonial cycles. Besides ethnohistoric records, little is known of the villages’ antiquity, spatiality, or development. Here we combine oral traditional and 14C chronological evidence to investigate the spatial history of two ancestral village sites in Orokolo Bay: Popo and Mirimua Mapoe. A Bayesian model composed of 35 14C assays from seven excavations, alongside the oral traditional accounts, demonstrates that people lived at Popo from 765–575 cal BP until 220–40 cal BP, at which time they moved southwards to Mirimua Mapoe. The village of Popo spanned ca. 34 ha and was composed of various estates, each occupied by a different tribe. Through time, the inhabitants of Popo transformed (e.g., expanded, contracted, and shifted) the village to manage social and ceremonial priorities, long-distance exchange opportunities and changing marine environments. Ours is a crucial case study of how oral traditional ways of understanding the past interrelate with the information generated by Bayesian 14C analyses. We conclude by reflecting on the limitations, strengths, and uncertainties inherent to these forms of chronological knowledge.

(Implementation of The National Program for Marine and Fisheries Community Empowerment in The Fisheries Processing Business : A Case Study in Banda Aceh City)Fish business development in the village level is considered as the natural program for marine and fisheries community empowerment. Poverty reduction programs through marine and fisheries community empowerment are does not effective and take into account the sustainability of the program so that poverty can not be reduced even increasing. National program of marine and fisheries in the fish processing business are considered one of the MMAF program intended to eliminate poverty in a certain society. The aims of this study was to analyze implementation of PUMP P2HP, particularly in Banda Aceh City, identify the public response to the PUMP P2HP, and identify factors that affect the implementation of the program. This research used a qualitative approach and data collection through interview, observation and desk study. Sample was determined using purposive sampling with respondents “kelompok pengolah dan pemasar” (POKLAHSAR) members participating in the program. The method of data analysis was carried out descriptively. Results show that the implementation of PUMP P2HP in each stage have indeed been implemented as in the guidelines on the implementation of programs in the community. However, in terms of its implementation as a policy of empowerment, it is still far from the expected goals. This is supported by an analysis of the public response to the implementation of the program, in relation to the sustainability of program, the participation in program, the benefits of program, and conflict occurred during implementation of the program. The dominant factors that can support and prevent the implementation of the program as a whole, that the implementation procedures should be be changed and improved. Inhibitory and supporting factor for success of the program were namely the suitability of the location, provision of equipment to support the production, and the accuracy of the prospective beneficiaries. Policy recommendations to improve implementation of the programs of direct cash assistance (BLT) in the future were identified as follows: (1) simplification of the program process, (2) accuracy in selecting candidates (3) training and assistance to the recipients and beneficiaries, and (4) evaluation of the programs for business development and self-reliance of beneficiaries sustainable manner.

Abstract An essential aspect in the sustainable design of breakwater is the determination of the design wave condition. It is predicted by utilizing severe wave conditions of the past 10 to 20 years. The tourism harbor at eastern Bali, Indonesia, is located where extreme wave condition occurs. Therefore, this research studies the wave height before and after constructing a breakwater in the harbor area. The wave height was simulated using numerical modeling. The methodology was performed by using the coastal modeling software of the SMS-CGWAVE model. The result shows the highest design wave height value of 3.9 m in the direction from the southeast. The design breakwater can reduce wave height up to 0.9 m or a 75.5% reduction. Further study is needed to simulate the extension of breakwater length to meet the criterion design of wave height in the harbor basin.
