The economic crisis generated by the coronavirus pandemic has acted as an accelerator for the digital transformation of almost all economic entities, as a result of which it has become a massive phenomenon. However, this situation has shown that the practical development of digital transformation as a tool for business management in the digital economy requires its theoretical understanding, the formation of a theoretical basis and a scientific definition of the essence of digital transformation of companies. In particular, one of the key problems in the implementation of digital transformation at the present time is the assessment of its effectiveness, since in most cases it does not always end successfully. At the same time, knowledge of approaches and criteria for the effectiveness of digital transformation can improve the quality of its implementation. The purpose of the study is to study approaches to assessing the effectiveness of digital transformation, to determine its nature and essence at a theoretical level, as well as to conduct an econometric analysis of the contribution of digital transformation to achieving the company's efficiency. In the course of the study the existing approaches to defining the essence of digital transformation were studied, its key elements that make up the basis were established, and the existing approaches to assessing the effectiveness of digital transformation of a company and its impact on business efficiency were studied. The absence of a unified approach to assessing the effectiveness of digital transformation and the main reasons for this problem have been established. Based on the results of the regression analysis of a sample of the largest companies of the pre-digital era, implementing digital transformation, the formulated hypothesis about the impact of digital transformation on the short-term performance of the company (profitability) was refuted, which allowed us to assume the strategic nature of this tool, the results of which are formed over a lag of time. When writing the article, various scientific research methods were used: deduction and induction when conducting empirical analysis of the activities of companies implementing digital transformation, analytical methods and regression analysis. The obtained results of the study contribute to the development of the theory of assessing the effectiveness of digital transformation of business, anti-crisis management and determine the directions for further theoretical developments.

Abstract Everyone, from distinguished philosophers to emergent poets, has been to some extent disoriented by the new digital technology and its shimmer of compositional novelty. This article reviews recent studies of the impact of the digital on research into the history of modern and contemporary poetry. Almost all poetry written and circulated today is dependent on digital media, with profound consequences for every aspect of its writing, performance, and reception. I argue that scholars of poetry can benefit from learning more about what constitutes the digital, as material technology, as programming, and as transformative social practice, as well as by studying earlier phases of the rapid transformation of communications technology. I then discuss briefly several recent texts on current digital infrastructure, before surveying some representative recent critical works that draw on insights derived from our digital era to provide new perspectives on the predigital age of poetry. At the heart of this review, essay is extended discussions of Seth Perlow’s The Poem Electric and Todd Tietchen’s Technomodern Poetics, recent books that explore changing concepts of lyric, surveillance, anonymity, and even electricity. In addition, this essay discusses The Bloomsbury Handbook of Electronic Literature, edited by Joseph Tabbi, which has a strong focus on poetics.

Based on an analysis of selected definitions of the terms used for society and culture, the author creates the sociological theoretical framework for the article. In conjunction with the characterized phenomenon of digital transformation, extensive and far-reaching conclusions are formulated on the impact of new technology for postmodernity. In relation to the scientific achievements of Buber and Tischner, the author deeply analyzes the assumptions of philosophy of dialogue. This allows the observation of a wide dimension in the relationship between the relational nature of social relations, the condition of the individual, the durability of the systems humans create, the technocratic direction of civilizational development and the consumerist attitude to reality in contemporary society of the 21st century. The author describes technological worship and presents the negative consequences of digital transformation processes. On the example of the service sector, the transition is presented as symbolic culture based on the relations and dialogue with technical and functional culture. The research method used in the article is a review of the scientific literature. In the study, the author set the goal of determining the impact of digital transformation on humans in the context of the definition of culture and society. As a result of the research, the author states that technological insight (i.e. looking at technology as a way of resolving all contemporary problems) has the danger of successively weakening man, and could lead to a deepening of social inequalities. The author also emphasizes the need to deepen research on the consequences of the digital transformation on society and culture and to develop models that can reduce the negative consequences of the change process.

This article defines the theoretical specification of risk management and crisis management. The main goal of this article is to define the basic features and understand the reciprocal relations between risk management and crisis management and their function in the business environment.Risk management is a process of risk regulation. It helps to protect an enterprise from the impact of existing and future risks. Part of this process is the decision process which derives from risk's analysis.Crisis management can be defined as a permanent process of monitoring single factors of efficiency with the goal to identifying and applying proactive steps leading to the prevention of crisis creation and its negative effects. Another definition evaluates crisis management as a process of crisis identification and the enterprise's subsequent stabilization. The specification of areciprocal relationship between risk management and crisis management arises from the definition of risk as a source of danger causing current or future crisis in the enterprise.

Digital transformation in the public sector is an inevitable requirement for governments due to the growing complexity and interconnections of information systems, and to the demands of citizens, who are becoming better informed and are increasingly looking to more agile and innovative services. However, despite the willingness of many governments and public institutions, the results do not always tally with the original objectives. In the case of public procurement in Portugal, it could be said that digital transformation experience had an unexpected success in the European context, through a business model that is still quite unique in Europe. This result is much owed to the strong political determination, the experience gained from pilot projects, and to the involvement of many stakeholders, who contributed, in a consistent and innovative way, to the definition of the system. The system is not perfect: there are many challenges that need to be addressed in the coming years. Yet, it has enabled the Portuguese public administration to significantly grow in the digital era, so that today the State has a database containing structure information about public procurement, which is a unique case in many countries.

This paper aims to analyse the impact of demographic and social factors on first partnership in Lithuania – the duration of premarital cohabitation, the sustainability of such relationships, and the transition into marriage. The research is based on the 2019 Family and Inequality Survey of 1970–1984 birth cohorts. Data analysis shows that most young people began their first partnership as a cohabitation rather than marriage, and the average premarital time spent in a cohabitation increases within this cohort. Cohabitation eventually transitions into marriage, and five years after the start of cohabitation, almost all cohabitants marry, and only a small percentage of cohabitating unions dissolve. Based on Cox regression analysis, the level of education and finished studies, as well as pregnancy, are significant predictors of the transition from cohabitation to marriage. The results of the research show that three decades after the beginning of the spread of cohabitation in Lithuania, cohabitation competes with marriage, but it does not challenge the importance of marriage as an institution of childbearing and upbringing.

This study examines the impact of crisis management on employee’s performance in the Yemeni oil and gas industry. Crisis management was measured by two dimensions; crisis preparedness and crisis prevention. Whereas employee’s performance was measured by three diminutions; task performance, adaptive performance, and contextual performance. The study uses a quantitative approach. Questionnaires were used to collect data from 6 oil and gas companies. The sample comprises of 351 participants, out of which 268 (74.23%) responded. The reliability of the instruments was examined and the results of the Cronbach’s Alpha was .906, indicating an excellent reliability. The results of regression analysis reveal that crisis management as the whole independent variable has a significant impact on employee’s performance as dependent variable. Furthermore, the results of regression analysis reveal that there is a significant relationship between crisis management and employee’s performance in terms of crisis preparedness, crisis prevention, and employee’s performance. Essentially, crisis appraisals should include testing as an integral aspect of planning for any eventuality. Ultimately, organizations should install communication units or structures and ensure employees are trained well. This study has made some recommendations for oil and gas companies.

The changes caused by digitalization give rise to a definite need to increase managerial and organizational flexibility. In some areas the impact of these rapid changes is significant, in others the impact is weaker, but is clearly felt in all industries and functions. This determines the need for research of project and product management to help managers form an approach to achieve optimal results and gain a competitive advantage over the other technology companies. Focusing on the project management and product management topics, the current paper falls into a niche of great relevance and strategic importance for the technology industry. In this regard, the purpose of this study is to examine the product and project management in times of digital transformation and to analyze whether the transition from project to productoriented management in technology industry is necessary. The methods used in this paper include: analysis and synthesis; research through literature sources, results of theoretical and empirical research in the field of product and project management, etc. The results show that integrating a product mindset within projects will enable technology companies to further adapt to the dynamically changing business environment and to provide a unique value proposition in times of digital transformation.

Today it is hurt by an old well-known enemy – the pandemic. In order to make the things better and even to survive current society is investing in market, production, communications and technological progress. The common base of all these fields is the digitalization on the Communication and Information Technology (IT – Hardware, Software, Algorithms, and Methods). Since the 50-ies of the 20th Century the IT is in permanent development but this has not impacted all layers of the society. In the last decade it is observed a new trend. The IT impacts almost all layers and the technologies of the society – communications, productions, management, analysis, forecasts, education, health, social and medical security). This chapter is concentrated on the basics and tools of digital transformation of business and trends in the business and production in the frame of this new paradigm.

Artificial intelligence offers the promise of transforming biomedical research and helping clinicians put the “care” back in healthcare. Digital medicine is on its way to becoming just plain medicine. But who will digitize how we define health and disease? And who will deploy this knowledge to improve the lives of patients that medicine – and digital medicine – exists to serve? Here we define the emerging field of digital medicine and identify the disciplines and skills needed for success. We examine the current and projected skills gaps. We also consider the impact of the culture clash that occurs at the intersection of healthcare and technology, and the lack of diversity in the workforce of both of these fields. We conclude by describing the requirements for the skills pivot needed to ensure that the digital transformation of healthcare is successful: (1) big tent thinking to recognize the critical importance of new technical skills alongside more traditional clinical disciplines, (2) the integration of clinical and technical skill sets within educational curricula, companies, and professional institutions, and (3) a commitment to diversity that goes beyond lip service.
