The 2017-2027 US National Academy of Sciences Decadal Survey for Earth Science and Applications from Space classified mass change as one of five designated observables having the highest priority in terms of Earth observations required to better understand the Earth system over the next decade. In response to this designation, NASA initiated multi-center studies with an overarching goal of defining observing system architectures for each designated observable. Here, we discuss the progress made and future plans for the Mass Change Designated Observable study. Progress includes the development of a Science and Applications Traceability Matrix (SATM), the definition of three different architectural classes that are responsive to the designated science objectives, and a framework to quantitatively link the performance of specific architectures to the SATM. We will describe the Value Framework that has been developed to assess the value of potential architectures in terms of science return, cost, risk, and technical maturity. Results highlight the recommendation of satellite-satellite-tracking for the MC observing system, and have identified high value variants as a single in-line pair, dual in-line pairs, and pendulum architectures, which are similar to architectures studied by potential international partners. The current status of the study process, and future plans will be discussed.

Background Federal and state accountability policies attempt to improve educational outcomes but have been blamed for a breadth of ills, including minimizing local knowledge and reducing teachers’ ability to respond to contextual needs. Teachers in high-needs schools, especially, feel the effects of constrained curricula and increased testing, resulting in increased workload and anxiety. Purpose This article explores the impact of professional development on teachers and students in a time of high-stakes accountability. Specifically, we ask: Does Lesson Study impact teachers’ instruction and students’ achievement in writing? And how do pressures imposed by policy impact efficacy and collaboration in a high-needs school? Research Design This study uses data from 20 Lesson Study meetings at a high-needs, “Turnaround” school and considers changes in students’ writing achievement. The mixed-method approach and high-stakes context offer a unique contribution to Lesson Study research. Conclusions Findings indicate that instruction changed and students’ writing significantly improved, with the mean growth percentile increasing from the 30th to the 46th percentile on state assessments. Further, we found that during the Lesson Study process, teachers moved through six Stages of Transformation in response to a high-pressure context, moving from feelings of anger and blame-shifting to eventual feelings of empowerment.

We present main approaches of foreign and domestic scientists to a problem of children’s creative activity development in contemporary conditions. We analyze several definitions of “creative activity”. We substantiate the relevance of creative activity development support of younger generation based on the analysis of regulating documents in education and culture, as well as theoretical sources on a research problem. We define prerequisites and functions of creative ac-tivity. We give the definition example of “creative activity” in terms of the psychological condi-tions defining personal development of child as an indicator of successful assignment of cultural and leisure experience. Creative activity appears in inclusion of children in the creative, originative activities aimed at implementation of potential of the personality, its self-development. Lesson study has commonly three stages in the implementation. They are plan, do, and see. In the process, a relationship occurs between people who are involved in it. They are the teachers, students, and observers. This research focuses about the positive relation happened between teachers and observers. Positive relation between people who are involved in learning process could improve classroom quality. The positive relation is named mutualism. In biological term, mutualism is when two organisms of different species "work together", each benefiting from the relationship. Meaning contained in the term is used by the researcher to indicate a relationship that occurs in the lesson study process. This research aims at finding out the mutualism in lesson study, especially the mutualism between teachers and students. The method used in this research was qualitative method. The research took place at English Education Study Program, Cokroaminoto Palopo University, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. Teachers and students in this institution were taken as the participants of the research. Data gained through classroom observation and focus group interview. The result of the research shows that mutualism happens between teachers and observers.

Computer accounting is one of the subjects that is an important part of the connection with the industrial revolution 4.0. The development of this era requires teachers and students to be able to carry out learning processes that is oriented to technology that is adapted to the industrial world environment as a target of students' self-development. The perceived benefit of understanding MYOB Accounting is that we can automate bookkeeping in a complete, detailed, and accurate manner. MYOB is easy to understand and learn. Likewise with the functions it has, the explanation is very clear. The field of accounting activities in the current era is developing in the process and implementation. The importance of the skills is possessed by students in preparing for the Competency Examination and preparing for the world of work, this is a reason for the need for appropriate and appropriate learning to hone the abilities of students.
