Abstract 2-Isobutyl-1 ,3-thiazole and its 4,5-dihydro derivative were identified in the preorbital gland secretions of the grey duiker, Sylvicapra grimmia, and the red duiker, Cephalophus natalensis, but are absent from the preorbital secretion of the blue duiker, C. monticola. These two compounds which are present in high, but varying concentrations in the secretions of male grey duikers, are present in low concentrations in the secretions of females. This seems to be the only consistent significant difference between the secretions of male and female grey duikers and together with the fact that only males mark out their territories, was construed as evidence in favour of these two compounds playing a significant role in the territorial behaviour of male grey duikers.

Numerous researches have documented positive outcomes of practicing meditation and mindfulness since advent of Positive Psychology. Hence the present study has been designed to investigate effect of practicing meditation on levels of mindfulness in daily life and also to understand if any relationship exists with level of mindfulness and psychological well- being of its practitioners. A total of 120 participants (60 meditators and 60 non- meditators), aged 30-50 years were assessed on level of mindfulness using Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire and their psychological well- being was studied by Ryff Scale of Psychological Well- being. The data was analyzed using Mean, Standard deviation, t- test and Correlation. Results revealed that Psychological well- being of meditators was significantly higher (p<0.05) than non-meditators. Further it was observed that significant difference exists in levels of mindfulness between meditators and non- meditators where meditating participants reported substantially higher (p< 0.05) levels of mindfulness particularly on traits of Observation and Awareness. Also a strong positive relationship (r =0.764) exists between level of mindfulness and well- being, implicating that higher level of mindfulness in an individual relates to increased level of self-reported psychological well- being. Findings are in line with other studies evidencing positive impact of meditation on well- being of an individual.

In entrepreneurial self-efficacy as well as emotional intelligence, there were significant differences between the third grade and the first and second grade, respectively. In addition, the results showed a significant positive correlation between entrepreneurial self-efficacy and emotional intelligence. With the improvement of the emotional intelligence level of vocational college students, the entrepreneurial self-efficacy will increase. The lower the emotional intelligence, the faster the improvement in entrepreneurial self-efficacy. The higher the emotional intelligence, the more stable the entrepreneurial self-efficacy. The university stage is considered an ideal entrepreneurial period, especially for vocational colleges’ students, who pay more attention to entrepreneurship and innovation education. Encouraging the cultivation of the emotional intelligence of vocational college students in life will help to improve personal entrepreneurial self-efficacy. This research emphasizes that improving the emotional intelligence of vocational college students can enhance their sense of self-efficacy in entrepreneurship and help students with entrepreneurship and career development.

Although Huffaz (those who memorize the entire Qur’an) in Indonesia are certified to have memorized the whole Quran upon graduation, the majority are not able to fully interpret (Tafsir) its meaning. This could be related to the methods applied in memorizing. This study aimed to identify the most common method used by respondents in  memorizing the Qur’an, to analyze the differences in the examination scores for Qur’an memorization based on gender, to examine the relationships between respondents’ score for Tafsir and Qur’an memorization. Respondents were students at Ma’had Tahfiz Al-Qur’an at Prenduan Indonesia. A questionnaire survey was employed for data collection. Besides that, the examination scores for Qur’an memorization (Tahfiz) and for Tafsir were also collected and analyzed to address the second and third research questions. Descriptive analyses, independent sample t-test and Pearson correlation were conducted to support evidences. Findings showed that four memorization techniques: Wahdah, Kitabah, Sima’i, and Jama’ were applied by respondents, the most common method being the Wahdah method. The study found a significant difference in the examination scores for Qur’an memorization between male and female respondents. It also found that the relationship between respondents’ scores for Tafsir and scores for Qur’an memorization is statistically significant. The study concludes that by studying Tafsir, Huffaz could improve the understanding of the Qur’an which should be the ultimate aim in memorizing the text. Huffaz should not only expect to gain rewards while reciting the Qur’an but to be able to apply the teachings from the revelation in daily life.
