Cigarette smoke contains many hazardous substances and free radical which affect respiratory system. Watermelon “Sugar Baby” juice contain lycopene as antiinfl ammation. The aim of this research was to analyze the effect of watermelon as antiinfl ammation toward neutrophils count in wistar strain male rats exposed by  cigarette smoke. This study was an experimental laboratory research with pre and post test control group design. Sample consisted of 24 wistar strain male rats with ±150-230 grams weight and 3 months old which were divided into four groups. Control group was given placebo (aquadest) and treatment groups were given w atermelon juice with terraced quantity (1.5 ml, 2.5 ml, and 3.5 ml). Every group was given two sticks of cigarette smoked per day during two weeks then smoked with treatment during one week. Neutrophil from peripheral smear was observed by manual method and statistically analyzed using Anova Mixed Design and continued with One Way Anova. The result showed signifi cant increased of  neutrophil at second observation on control group (p=0.002) and treatment groups (p=0.000). Signifi cance decreased also found in the treatment groups’s at third observation p=0.000. Signifi cant between each group p= 0.017. There was signifi cant different between control and treatment groups but there was no signifi cant different between each treatment groups. This study concluded that there was decreased of  neutrophil in wistar strain male rats which were given w atermelon juice 1.5 ml, 2.5 ml, and 3.5 ml during infl ammation. 3.5 ml w atermelon juice which were given showed better result as antiinfl ammation..

Exposure to cigarette smoke can cause oxidative stress, which characterized by increased activity of g-GT serum. The skins of the mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana L.) contain anthocyanins pigments, which can act as antioxidants to reduce free radicals. This study mainly aims to investigate the effect of mangosteen skin extracts to decreased activity of g-GT serum in rats exposed to cigarette smoke. This study was true experimental designs with randomized post-test only control group design. This study used thirty male rats were dividing into six treatment groups. Rats exposed to cigarette smoke, which came from two cigarettes, for 4 weeks lead to an increase free radicals in the body. The increased activity of g-GT serum to damp the free radicals. Mangosteen skin extracts can reduce free radicals so that the activity of g-GT serum decreased.The conclusion of this research is the mangosteen skin extracts can decrease the activity of the g-GT serum.

Abstract: DMPA Injectable Contraception, Body Weight. The purpose of this study to determine the effect of contraception DMPA injection to BB in female blood wistar strain female. The benefits of this study are expected to increase public knowledge about injectable contraception especially related to the side effects of weight gain. This type of research is an experimental laboratory. Research design Randomized pre-post test group with control, the sample size of 10 adult female mice Wistar strain divided into 2 groups. Data were analyzed by independent T test. Significant value of p <0.05. The result of this research is there is significant difference between control group and DMPA contraception treatment group (p = 0,008). In conclusion contraceptive DMPA affects body weight wistar female rat strain.

Ischemic-reperfusion injury is defined by a condition of hypoperfusion in the spesific organ followed by reperfusion(reoxygenation) inducing tissue damage. Tissue damage produces reactive oxygen species (ROS) leading to oxidativestress condition. Oxidative stress mediate the lipid peroxidation reactions, harm the cell and finally facilitate the celldeath. The aim of this study was to evaluate the histopathologic feature of white rat’s pancreas post renal ischemiareperfusion.This study was an experimental laboratory research with post-test-only control group design including 20male white rats. Rats were divided into 5 groups, control, treatment 1 (45 minutes ischemia), treatment 2 (45 minutesischemia followed by 1 hour reperfusion), treatment 3 (45 minutes ischemia followed by 2 hours reperfusion) andtreatment 4 (45 minutes ischemia followed by24 hours reperfusion). We found the change of the histopathologicalcharacteristics of white rat’s pancreas in term of edema, leukocyte infiltration and vacuolization.

Background: Smoking is something that is usual for most Indonesian society, especially adult males. According to Riskesdas, smoking behavior of the population trends to increase. A previous study suggested that exposure to cigarette smoke produce CO bond to hemoglobin. Melon (Cucumis melo) contains antioxidants that prevent tissue damage.Objective: Analyze differences in levels HbCO Wistar male rats in treated and untreated extracts of melon.Method: The research was a laboratory experiment with the post test control group design and complete random design. The subjects were 25 male Wistar rats aged 3 months. Subjects were divided into 5 groups and each group received treatment for 28 days. Data of level HbCO was collected and analyzed by Anova One Way test at 95% confidence level.Results: The results showed a difference between the average levels of HbCO male Wistar rats (p value=0,000) treated and untreated extracts of melon.Conclusion: Melon extracts effect on decreasing the levels of HbCO due to exposure to cigarette smoke. There were differences in levels of male Wistar rats HbCO on treated and untreated extracts of melon and be given at a dose of 250 IU/day.

Smoking can cause a variety of diseases one of them on pulmonary organs, e-cigarettes are also considered to be safer than conventional cigarettes and the number of smokers in Indonesia is increasing every year. The purpose of this study to determine differences in pulmonary alveolar damage in male rats (Rattus norvegicus Wistar strain) on electric cigarette smoke exposure and conventional cigarettes. This research is true experimental with post-test only control group design. Male rats were used as many as 25 rats were divided into 5 groups, namely the group P0 as a negative control group; P1 group was exposed to clove cigarettes; P2 group is exposed to a filter cigarette; P3 group was exposed to e-cigarette 0mg; P4 group exposed the e-cigarette 3mg. Samples were treated for 30 days. Data were analyzed using Kruskal Wallis with p &lt;0.05. The results showed that there were significant differences in alveolar damage in the fifth group (p = 0.003). With Mann Whitney shows that groups P1, P2, P3, and P4 there are no significant differences. The conclusion of this study is there is no difference in alveolar damage on Wistar male rats by e-cigarettes and conventional cigarettes exposure.

Objective: to compare the effect of administration of energy drinks and coffee on creatinine levels in rats.Methods: an experimental laboratory research using the post test only control group design. The study used 18 male white Sprague Dawley divided into three groups to receive one of the following treatments: 2 cc distilled water,0.072 g /2cc energy drinks and 0.9 g/cc of coffee for 14 days. The creatinine level was evaluated. Data were analyzed by One Way ANOVA test.Results: The mean creatinine level in the aquades group, energy drinks, coffee group was 0.708 mg/dl, 2.05 mg/dl 1.861 mg/dl, respectively. Post Hoc test the LSD test showed a significant difference among these groups (p <0.05).Conclusion: There was a significant different effect between 0.072 g / 2cc energy drinks and 0.9 g/cc coffee on creatinine levels in rat.International Journal of Human and Health Sciences Vol. 03 No. 04 October’19 Page : 231-234

Introduction: Bamboo shoot Gigantochloa apus extract has antioxidant compounds that act as lipid peroxidation inhibitors and reduce free radical formation so that it can be used as an anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative stress in the atherosclerosis. Aim: Knowing the effect of bamboo shoot Gigantochloa apus extract in reducing MDA levels and IL-10 increasing levels in rabbits given atherogenic diet. Methods: This experiment used randomized pre-test and post-test with control group design, in 24 New Zealand White rabbits divided into 4 groups randomly. MDA and IL-10 levels were examined by the ELISA method. Results and conclusion: Bamboo shoot Gigantochloa apus extract can reduce MDA levels and increase IL-10 levels significantly in accordance with increasing doses. This study aimed to determine the effects of red fruit (Pandanus conoideus Lam) oil on MDA levels and spermatozoa quality in mice (Mus musculus) exposed to MSG. The quality includes motility, viability, concentration, and morphology of spermatozoa. This experimental study used randomized post-test only control group design. The subjects of this study were 25 mice (Mus musculus), divided into 5 groups (5 mice per group). K- group received distilled water for 35 days. K+ group received 4 mg/g BW MSG for 21 days. P1, P2, and P3 treatment groups received 4 mg/g BW MSG for 21 days and 0.02; 0.04; 0.08 ml/g BW red fruit oil, respectively, from day 22 to 35. The results showed that mean spermatozoa morphology in K-, K+, P1, P2, P3 groups were as follows: 0.86; 0.56; 0.67; 0.61; and 0.87 (%). The spermatozoa concentrations were sequentially as follows: 21; 10; 15; 32,8,19 (107 cells/ml). The spermatozoa's vitalities were as follows: 0,64; 0,14; 0,24; P2: 0.36; 0.68 (%). MDA levels were respectively: 0.29; 0.60; 0.35; 0.23; and 0.19 (nm). As a conclusion, testicular MDA levels in mice exposed to MSG and given with red fruit oil were lower than those in mice exposed to MSG without receiving red fruit oil. The quality of spermatozoa in mice exposed to MSG and receiving red fruit oil was higher than that of mice exposed to MSG without being given with red fruit oil.

Herbal medicine is interesting including treatments that use propolis. Propolis collected by Apis mellifera bees has a very useful composition whose active ingredients are flavonoids, CAPE and saponin. This research aims to analyze the effect of Apis mellifera propolis on RUNX-2 and ALP during the remodeling period caused by the orthodontic tooth movement in Cavia cobaya. It constitutes an experimental laboratory study and a random sampling method. The method used experimental laboratory research on 28 Cavia cobaya, which were divided into four groups consisting of two control groups and two treatment groups which have been given 3% and 5% propolis extract respectively. RUNX-2 and ALP expression were evaluated using immunohistochemical staining. Materials and Methods: Propolis is a resin substance produced by bees. Cavia cobaya with orthodontic tooth movement by separator rubber. The control group (Group 1) included clinically healthy Cavia cobaya (n=7), (Group 2) included Cavia cobaya with orthodontic tooth movement (n=7). A treatment group (Group P1) Cavia cobaya have been treated with orthodontic tooth movement and propolis 3%, (Group P2) Cavia cobaya have been treated with orthodontic tooth movement and propolis 5% and observed for 17 days. Samples of maxilla were taken from the subjects for analysis on day 17. RUNX-2 and ALP expression were evaluated using immunohistochemical staining. Results: showed that RUNX-2 and ALP expression were found to increase in the tension side. Conclusion: Propolis extract at 5% concentration had ability in bone remodeling by increasing RUNX-2 and ALP expression in the tension area during orthodontic tooth movement.

Tujuan: untuk mengetahui dosis efektif enoxaparin dalam mencegah terjadinya trombosis pada anastomosis mikrovaskular. Metode: penelitian ini bersifat eksperimental dengan rancangan the randomized post test only control group design. Terdapat 33 tikus jantan Rattus norvegicus Wistar strain yang dikelompokkan menjadi tiga perlakuan yaitu perlakuan A (enoxaparin 0,75 mg/kg), B (enoxaparin 1  mg/kg), dan C (kontrol). Tuck model anastomosis dilakukan pada arteri femoralis, kemudian luas trombus yang terjadi pada pembuluh darah dibandingkan dengan diameter lumen pembuluh darah diukur dengan graticule lens dan dinyatakan dalam persen. Hasil: trombus terbentuk pada semua subyek penelitian baik pada kelompok perlakuan maupun kontrol. Rerata persentase luas trombus pada kelompok enoxaparin 0,75 mg/kg adalah 24,3%, enoxaparin 1 mg/kg sebesar 19,8% dan kelompok NaCl 0,9% sebesar 79,4%. Terdapat perbedaan antara perlakuan pemberian enoxaparin dosis 0,75 mg/kg dan 1 mg/kg dengan kontrol, namun tidak ada perbedaan bermakna rerata persentase luas trombus diantara kelompok enoxaparin dosis 0,75 mg/kg dan dosis 1 mg/kg (p=0,624). Perlu dilakukan penelitian secara klinis guna melihat efektivitas enoxaparin dalam meningkatkan patensi anastomosis pada free flap maupun replantasi. Simpulan: pemberian enoxaparin dosis 0,75 mg/kg dan enoxaparin dosis 1 mg/kg secara subkutan efektif mengurangi persentase luas trombus pada anastomosis arteri femoralis tikus. Tidak terdapat perbedaan efektivitas yang bermakna dalam mengurangi persentase luas trombus pada anastomosis arteri femoralis tikus setelah diberikan dosis enoxaparin 0,75 mg/kg dan 1 mg/kg secara subkutan.
