The museum functions as a management of cultural heritage which actually has the same ideology as cultural tourism, namely providing information and services to the public. The museum not only collects material culture and daily social history but also includes collecting human behavior. The museum also functions as an educational tourism choice that has not been done much by the community. The purpose of this study was to find out more about the strategy of developing the Dayu museum as an educational tourism object. This research uses Structural Fungtionalism theory from Talcott Parsons, the method of data collection is done by conducting observations, interviews and documentation. Data validity was done by triangulation techniques, namely data triangulation, source triangulation, methodological triangulation, researcher triangulation, and theory triangulation. The results of the study show that officers from both the museum and the tourism service provide education especially to the surrounding community. Regional mapping is done to find out the potential of the village wilaya. Potential will be developed in a sustainable manner to increase income and advance rural areas. With the establishment of the Dayu museum on an international scale, the tour becomes a world heritage. The perceived impact of the formation of tourism internationally, it will increase the independence of the surrounding community. The use of information media as a means of marketing products is done both traditionally and modernly. Traditionally by texting, officers came to various schools to conduct socialization. Whereas in a modern way it is done by making museum videos conducted by the Karanganyar Regency government.

Abstract: Founded in a nationally landmarked apartment building on the ever-gentrifying Lower East Side of Manhattan, New York, the Lower East Side Tenement Museum is an historic site of immigrant social history and material culture. Constructed in 1864 and occupied by over 7,000 immigrants until its closing in 1935, this building has withstood constantly rising visitorship each year since its opening as a museum in 1988. With apartment spaces restored for the public to explore without roped-off restriction, this time capsule of domestic immigrant life requires continual maintenance to preserve its historic physical fabric. Through interviews with the Museum staff and the Preservation Advisory Committee (conservators, architectural historians, curators), as well as documentation of technical processes carried out in the preservation process, this ethnographic study investigates the questions and compromises that arise in the preservation of the tangible and intangible heritage contained within an historic structure in constant use. Which narratives are reconstructed through the Museum’s decisions to restore certain material features of the building while allowing others to decay? What are best practices for interpretation and preservation when a museum’s success results in the gradual destruction of its main artifact (the building) through use? This study explores the intersection of museum mission and practice, heritage construction, and historic preservation at a site both sustained and destroyed by its increasing success.

This article discusses the results of an array correlation analysis ministries and departments relevant statistical indicators in the Russian Federation regions in order to create a typical portrait of a region with rural population high proportion. Comprehensive data of the Federal State Statistics Service of Russia, the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, the General Prosecutor's Office of Russia, the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Health of Russia, which are available in the public domain, were used. The village is characterized by lower wages, availability of labor resources, but also the need for them. The high number of rural population in the region also means an increase in the number of external migrants, tax arrears, an increase in turnover and a decrease in the cost of food products, and an increase in crime. Despite the decrease in the number of medical organizations in rural areas, the provision of rural areas with medical personnel and beds remains high. The village at the beginning of the XXI century is still a supplier of future university entrants.

Planning the public space as part of the “village renewal” should be based on rural identity and its traditions, but on the other hand also on contemporary design trends. “Village renewal” is a joint action of local authorities, experts and – above all – inhabitants, aimed at improving the quality of life, aesthetics of the surrounding area, protecting and shaping the landscape, and implementing social initiatives. In the region of Warmia and Masuria, the Marshal Office plays a special role in accomplishing the “renewal” tasks. Regional authorities coordinate the renewal program and undertake numerous social and cultural initiatives, organize trainings, conferences and thematic workshops. The paper briefly presents the role of the “Village Renewal Program” in the context of planning the public space. Main assumptions for creating such space based on social participation and expert assistance were also determined. The author presented examples of projects in selected villages of the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodship, including these from the “Active Village of Warmia, Masuria and Powiśle” program. The paper highlighted positive results of these activities, but has also referred to existing problems.

In this chapter, Michael McCluskey looks at amateur films/home movies about rural Britain, including footage of Sussex, Yorkshire, Cornwall and Kent, in order to understand changes in rural areas and to make new connections between media history and social history. He argues that these films, preserved in the collections of Britain’s regional media archives as well as the British Film Institute and private collections, offer ‘visible evidence’ of the impact of modernization: what was destroyed, what was preserved, who adapted, who did not. They show interest in farming, rural crafts, village traditions, and threats of intruding motorists and the spread of the suburbs, but they also offer access to places and exchanges otherwise absent from these familiar depictions. The films participate in a broader process of what Andrew Causey calls ‘stocktaking’: an interwar interest in documenting what were feared to be disappearing people, places, and patterns of behaviour.
