Abstract Purpose: Students’ approaches to learning are central to the process of learning. There is strong debate about the efficiency of traditional learning program (TLP) and the integrated learning program (ILP) in medical schools. TLP is easy for the students being passive learners and for the tutors playing the role of sage on the stage. ILP is mainly student centered in which the students are active learners with mentoring of their tutors. It is important to know the perspectives of medical school students about both programs as they used to apply TLP in the 1st year and starting ILP from the 2nd year. Methodology: This study adopted quantitative research methodology. We addressed the 2nd and 3rd year medical students. Online survey using the Google forms was applied for data collection. Results: agreement of the integrated program (80.8%) exceeded the traditional (48.5%) especially in improving the communication skills, dealing with new technologies, reinforcement of competencies in the research field, and to less extent for its suitability to be applied in medical schools nowadays, development of desired doctor skills to deal with patients and for provision of good approach for medical practice, and lastly for its suitability to identify and deal with the community needs. There was no statistical significance between both programs regarding support of professionalism values. The disagreement of ILP (19.2%) was much lower than TLP (51.5%). Conclusion: Integrated learning program becomes an innovative tool for learning in medical schools with very good compliance among the medical students.

In some areas in Japan, there have been times when even though it was desirable to evacuate the area in order to prevent or reduce the amount of damage wrought by disaster, the actual evacuation rate was low. The double bind theory has been introduced in this situation, and a new theoretical interpretation has been obtained. However, no specific countermeasures have been presented to overcome the “expert and non-expert” structure shown in the double bind theory to be a problem of disaster management. This paper depends on the “theory of legitimate peripheral participation,” and it aims to build up a model of what the new disaster management education should be to overcome this problem. For the model not to become empty, this paper also introduces the “learning program built on the Manten Project (Perfect-score Project),” which is an example of a new type of participatory disaster management learning program implemented based on the model.

Aims: To provide an overview of published research on migration and health conducted in Norway and identify gaps in the research field. Methods: Applying a scoping review methodology, we searched Medline for articles on migration health in Norway published between 2008 and 2020, and assessed them according to research topic, methodology, user-involvement and characteristics of the populations studied (country or area of origin, type of migrant/immigrant status). Results: Of the 707 articles retrieved, 303 met the inclusion criteria. Most studies (77%) were within the clinical disciplines reproductive health, mental health, infectious diseases and cardiovascular diseases, or on socio-cultural aspects and the use of healthcare services. One third of the papers (36%) pulled participants from various geographic backgrounds together or did not specify the geographic background. Among those who did so, participants were mostly from The Middle East, South and Southeast Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. Only 14% of the articles specified the type of migrant/immigrant status and those included refugees, asylum seekers and undocumented migrants. A total of 80% of the papers used quantitative methods, of which 15 described an intervention; 15 papers (5%) described different types of user-involvement. Conclusions: Our findings suggest gaps in research related to migrant subgroups, such as those from Eastern-Europe and labour and family reunification migrants. Future studies should further investigate the self-identified health needs of different migrant groups, and might also benefit from a methodological shift towards more intervention studies and participatory approaches.

Avslutningsvis diskuterer vi implikasjoner for forholdet mellom forsknings- og praksisfeltet.Nøkkelord: forskningskartlegging, kunnskapsoppsummering, lærerrollen, lærerprofesjonalitetWhat characterises research on teacher roles during the Knowledge Promotion? A systematic review of studies of Norwegian teachers, student teachers and teacher educatorsAbstractNorwegian teacher roles have been affected by a range of developments since the turn of the century. In this article, we examine the characteristics of research on teacher roles, published since the introduction of the Knowledge Promotion curriculum. We describe thematic, methodological and analytical characteristics of the research field, based on a systematic, configurative literature review of journal articles published between 2007 and 2016 that include Norwegian teachers, student teachers, and teacher educators as informants. A main finding is that the research literature is primarily oriented towards teachers' professional practice, whereas other aspects of teacher roles have received less attention. In conclusion, we discuss implications for the relationship between the field of research and the field of practice. Keywords: systematic review, literature review, teacher roles, teacher profes-sionalism

RecentlyCERPpublished its first articles in the categories of Comments and Replies. These are peer reviewed articles that address specific issues raised in articles published in the journal. A Comment is an article by new authors who argue that something in a published article should not stand in the literature without further comment, and a Reply is a response by the original authors to the Comment. The option of publishing articles of this kind is common among research journals, such as those published by the Royal Society of Chemistry.CERPis not seeking to actively encourage readers to submit comments on the papers they read in the journal as a matter of course, but rather is offering the possibility of challenging assertions made in published articles where readers strongly feel that there is some form of misrepresentation or limitation in an article that should be pointed out to the chemistry education community. These types of article raise issues about the definitiveness of research contributions, the status of knowledge claims made in published papers, and the conversational nature of the research literature in general.

The higher education sector faced increasingly tense to transform due to the digitization that reshapes the world in the 21st century to strengthen and improve the teaching and learning environment. The present critical success factors driven by global-profit-making reform institutions are affected by both external and internal issues. This systematic article review expounds on the instrumental transformation variables that influence higher education institutions globally. The exploration of these variables is not a new phenomenon in this research field and has long gained numerous scholars' attention. However, most of these past inquiries overlooked the effects of cultural and contextual components, where the higher education landscape perspectives are often underrepresented. Hence, this study aims to fill this gap by critically reviewing a considerable amount of past studies on the changes in Asian educational institutions. The Systematic Review approach was adopted for data analysis, accessing main journal databases and search engines through Elsevier, ResearchGate, Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, Web of Science, Scopus, Emerald and EBSCO. The search efforts resulted in a corpus of 33 articles were reviewed. As a result of the thematic analyses, eight main themes were formulated namely, Globalization, Income Generation and Financial Implication, Institutional Policies, Knowledge Management, Learning Innovation, Governance in Institutional Restructuring, Synergy, and Leadership as dominant variables for the higher education sector. Several recommendations were also presented for the reference of relevant parties and future scholars.

Article visualizations:
