Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan, memaparkan dan menganalisis: 1) jenis-jenis represi yang dialami para persona dalam puisi karya beberapa penyair Amerika yang berasal dari etnik non-Anglo-Saxon, yaitu Julia Alvarez, Naomi Shihab Nye, Rhina P. Espaillat, dan lê thį diễm thúy; 2) resistensi yang masing-masing persona lakukan atas represi yang mereka alami; dan 3) bagaimana akhirnya para persona tersebut menemukan jati diri mereka masing-masing sebagai akibat dari represi yang mereka alami dalam kehidupan sehari-hari mereka. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah puisi yang berjudul Bilingual Sestina karya Julia Alvarez, Blood karya Naomi Shihab Nye, Bilingual/Bilingile karya Rhina P. Espaillat, dan to my sister lê thi diem trinh shrapnel shards on blue water karya  lê thį diễm thúy. Data diperoleh dengan teknik membaca dan mencatat karya-karya tersebut dan dianalisis dengan teori postkolonialisme dan sumber-sumber yang relevan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa represi yang dialami oleh etnik minoritas ini sebagaimana direpresentasikan oleh persona dalam masing-masing puisi di atas terjadi dalam aspek kehidupan sosial-budaya, ekonomi, dan politik mereka, dan represi tersebut tidak hanya dilakukan oleh etnik mayoritas Anglo-Amerika, namun juga oleh kelompok mereka sendiri. Resistensi yang mereka lakukan pun terjadi dalam bidang yang sama. Jati diri yang mereka temukan berpijak pada resistensi yang mereka lakukan yang sebetulnya merupakan “counter attack” mereka. Kata kunci: Anglo-Saxon/Amerika, postkolonialisme, represi, resistensi, temuan jati diri                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 THE DIASPORA OF NON-ANGLO-SAXON ETHNICS IN THE ANGLO-SAXON ETHNIC COMMUNITY: BITTERNESS AND ALIENATION AbstractThis study aims at finding, describing, and analyzing: 1) types of repression experienced by the personae in some poems by American writers of non-Anglo-Saxon ethnic origins, i.e. Julia Alvarez, Naomi Shihab Nye, Rhina P. Espaillat, and lê thį diễm thúy; 2) the resistance against the repression they experience; and 3) how they come to their self-recognition on account of the repression which they bear in their everyday life. The study employed a qualitative descriptive approach. The data sources were poems entitled  Bilingual Sestina by Julia Alvarez, Blood by  Naomi Shihab Nye, Bilingual/Bilingile by Rhina P. Espaillat, and to my sister lê thi diem trinh shrapnel shards on blue water by  lê thį diễm thúy. The data were collected by reading and making notes on the works and analyzed by the post-colonial theory and other related sources. The findings show that the repression experienced the ethnic minority as represented by the personae of the poems takes place in their socio-cultural, economic, and political aspects of life, and it is made not only by the ethnic majority of Anglo-Saxon, but also by their own groups. The resistance which they execute also takes place in the same aspects. As a matter of fact, their self-recognition is based upon the resistance they have brought about which is a sort of their counter attack. Keywords: Anglo-Saxon/American, postcolonialism, repression, resistance, self-recognition

The Tamil Hindu ethnic community is spread across Indonesia, the majority live in Medan North Sumatra. Obiyem ritual is a religious activity believed by the Tamil Hindu ethnic community. The ritual has existed since the time of Bharatayudha and it is believed to eliminate bad karma for anyone who participates and performs the ritual. This ritual also obliges the devotees to make offerings to the Gods and Goddesses as a form of gratitude for giving abundance, maintain and protecting the universe. With the existence of ritual communication, the Tamil Hindu ethnic community in Medan can communicate and relate to the creator through the Obiyem ritual. This tradition is still carried out by the Tamil Hindu ethnic community to this day. The purpose of this study is to find out how the ritual communication is at the ceremony to the Tamil Hindu ethnic in Medan and what preparations are needed when the ritual is performed. Theories used in this research are communication theory, ritual communication and transcendental communication.The research method used was a phenomenological method with a qualitative descriptive approach. The data were obtained from in-depth interviews with three sources who understood about the ritual of Obiyem. The conclusion of this study is the ritual of Obiyem is a media used to communicate between humans and the Creator so that all bad karma is eliminated. It is also strengthen the relationship of Tamil Hindu ethnic society.Masyarakat etnis Tamil Hindu di Indonesia mayoritas berada di kota Medan, Sumatera Utara. Ritual Obiyemmerupakan kegiatan keagamaan bagi etnis Tamil Hindu. Ritual Obiyemsudah ada sejak zaman Bharatayudha. Ritual ini dipercaya bisa menghapuskan karma buruk bagi siapapun yang ikut serta dan melakukan ritual ini. Ritual ini juga mewajibkan para jemaah untuk memberikan persembahan kepada para dewa dan dewi sebagai bentuk terima kasih karena sudah memberi kelimpahan, memelihara dan menjaga alam semesta. Dengan adanya komunikasi ritual masyarakat etnis Tamil Hindu di Medan dapat berkomunikasi dan berhubungan dengan sang pencipta melalui ritual Obiyem. Ritual ini masih dilaksanakan oleh masyarakat etnis Tamil Hindu sampai saat ini. Penelitian ini ingin mengetahui bagaimana  komunikasi ritual Obiyempada etnis Tamil Hindu di kota Medan dan apa saja persiapan yang dibutuhkan pada saat ritual Obiyem dilakukan. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori komunikasi, komunikasi ritual dan komunikasi transendental. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode fenomenologi dengan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Data diperoleh dari hasil wawancara mendalam dengan narasumber yang mengetahui ritual Obiyem. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah ritual Obiyemmerupakan media yang digunakan untuk berkomunikasi antara manusia dan sang pencipta untuk menghapuskan karma buruk. Komunikasi ritual ini juga dilakukan untuk mempererat hubungan masyarakat etnis Tamil Hindu.

This study discusses the local wisdom of TungguTubang culture that is still embraced by the Semende ethnic community in MuaraEnim district. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with more emphasis on TungguTubang study facing the challenges in the era of globalization and modernization. The uniqueness local wisdom of TungguTubang culture which initially harmony with the surrounding natural environment, finally experienced a drastic change. The result of the research shows that the high- value award given by a TungguTubang to Semende society is not the expected reward anymore, because of the internal and external change factor of the social causes a change in the meaning and value of TungguTubangitself.

This article describes the model homeschooling at Samin community in Kaliyoso and Larekrejo Village, Undaan District, Kudus, Central Java. Samin is Javanese ethnic community the originally driven by Ki Samin Surosentiko against invaders in Blora, Central Java. its existence extends to city Kudus, Central Java until now. This article is to explore Samin community no formal school purposed generation protected so that slip up present life. This research data were obtained by interview, participatory observation, and literature review. Data collection was analyzed using a qualitative descriptive approach. This curriculum are not slander (drengki), greedy (srei), hate others (panasten), indict without evidence (dawen), envy (kemeren), contempt fellow (nyiyo marang sepodo), and stay five away from abstinence are accuse (bedok), steal (colong), shoplifting (pethil-jumput); and don’t want to find goods (nemu wae ora keno). Samin community don’t formal school for maintain the teachings, inherit the speech in speech, educated by parent and figure, the evaluated in his life.The state must be present explaining by sustainable (1) developed the matter learning for homeschooling formal by persuasive approach,(2) village government involvement to guide about marriage not recorded according to the law married and people administration. For Samin a religion coloum in ID card still written Islam or strip for facilitated becomes indiginious religion.

Post-colonial literature is concerned with the matters of decolonization, cultural, economic and political freedom of the previously colonized nations. Post-colonial theory places more emphasis on the criticality of colonialism and its establishment resulting in neo-colonialism with the accentuation of the power of the west over the colonized (Prasad, 2003:7). Post-colonial literature attempts to explore the challenges and results of decolonization of a nation, particularly those nations who have been given political and cultural independence and were formerly colonized by colonial powers. This study attempts to examine Wole Soyinka’s Kongi’s Harvest to explore and criticize the season of anomy in African society in postcolonial context. The study explores how Africans began to colonize themselves even after the departure of the colonial rulers in Kongi’s Harvest. The result reveals that the reason for the impoverishment of the decolonized African nations is as a result of bad leadership quality, corruption and colonial mentality transmitted into the postcolonial era. For this reason, it is discovered that even after the end of colonization in Africa the colonizers left their surrogates (indigenous colonizers) behind to continue from where they stopped.

This study aims to describe 1) the form of cohesion contained in the news Watching Sakinah Movies, UIN Yogyakarta Give Praise Students and 2) describing the forms of coherence contained in the news Watching Sakinah Film, Students of UIN Yogyakarta Give Praise. The subjects used in this study were news of watching Sakinah film, UIN Yogyakarta students giving praise, and the objects used were sentences containing grammatical cohesion, a form of lexical cohesion. The approach used in this study is a qualitative descriptive approach. The data in this study are sentences in the news of Watching Sakinah Movies, This student is a method of literature study. While the method of data analysis in this study is descriptive method analysis method, the method used to analyze and describe cohesion markers and analyze markers of coherence. Test The results of the study show that in the news of watching Sakinah films, UIN Yogyakarta Beri Pujian students have varied markers of cohesion and coherence in the Tebuireng Online news discourse. Cohesion markers were found to reference (3), substitution (1), ellipsis (2), conjunction (3), collocation (1), and markers of coherence found cause-effect relationships (2), relationship coherence suggestions — goals (1), coherence temporal relations (1), and coherence of causal relationships (1).

Cohesion and coherence in discourse play a role in forming a wholeness in the discourse itself, both discourse and writing. One of the written discourses is the news in the Jawa Pos newspaper, which is the distribution of basic food packages breaking the fast of Ramadhan for the poor in the Tuban area held by PT. PJB UBJOM PLTU Tanjung Awar-awar, in this news is thought to contain elements of cohesion and coherence. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach and discourse analysis techniques. The data obtained contains cohesion and coherence. In this data collection, namely by listening to the news and recording it. The results of this study include grammatical cohesion, lexical cohesion and its coherence. Grammatical cohesion includes reference cohesion, recovery cohesion, release cohesion and liaison cohesion. In addition to cohesion there is also coherence that is like the coherence of the means of purpose, the coherence of reasons for action, the coherence of the meaning of reason and so forth. With the discovery of the use of cohesion and discourse coherence in Jawa Pos news.

Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui proses bimbingan keagamaan, fungsi bimbingan keagamaan serta hasil bimbingan keagamaan dalam meningkatkan kecerdasan spiritual remaja di Boarding School SMK PPN Tanjungsari. Dengan pertanyaan penelitian 1) Bagaimana proses bimbingan keagamaan di Boarding School SMK PPN Tanjungsari?, 2) Bagaiamana fungsi bimbingan keagamaan di Boarding School SMK PPN Tanjungsari?, 3) Bagaimana hasil bimbingan keagamaan dalam meningkatkan kecerdasan spiritual remaja di Boarding School SMK PPN Tanjungsari?. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan datanya dilakukan observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi, dikarenakan masalah yang diteliti perlu dilukiskan secara sistematis dan faktual dengan menggambarkan keadaan atau status fenomena. Hasil bimbingan keagamaan di Boarding School SMK PPN adalah munculnya aspek-aspek kecerdasan spiritual pada remaja seperti kesadaran untuk menghayati proses ibadah bukan sebagai pengguguran kewajiban, terbiasa berperilaku baik, memiliki prinsip keadilan, memiliki prinsip kebenaran, mampu mengambil hikmah dari musibah yang dihadapinya, bersikap fleksibel, bersikap kritis dan merenungkan penyebab serta alasan segala sesuatu terjadi. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa bimbingan keagamaan di Boarding Schoool SMK PPN memiliki peranan yang sangat menunjang dalam meningkatkan kecerdasan spiritual remaja. The purpose of this study is to find out how the proccess of islamic guidance, function of islamic guidance, and result of islamic guidance to increase SpritualQuetiont in adolescence. With research questions 1) How the proccess of islamic guidance to increase spiritual quetiont on adolescence ?, 2) What is the function of islamic guidance to increase Spiritual Quetiont on adolescence?, 3) How are the results of islamic guidance to increase Spiritual Quetiont on adolescence?. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive approach with subject and object of research is guidancer. While the data collection tool in this study through observation, direct interview and written interviews. From the results of research conducted at Boarding School SMK PPN Tanjungsari, it appears of Spiritual Quetiont in adolescents. Such as the behavior of living the worship process, get used to behave well, be fair, be wise, able to take lessons from the difficulties they experienced, be flexible, be critical. So, we can conclude that islamic Guidance has a very supportive role in increasing adolescent Spiritual Quetiont.

Kajian ini membahas wacana iklan jasa boga dalam media luar ruang. Iklan merupakan sebuah sarana yang dipandang efektif dalam menyampaikan informasi. Iklan jasa boga menarik untuk dikaji karena memperlihatkan kekhasan dalam pemakaian bahasa. Kajian bertujuan mendeskripsikan slot-slot wacana jasa boga dan strategi pembentuk slot atau pengisi slot pada iklan jasa boga di media luar ruang. Kajian ini menggunakan pendekatan struktural dan bersifat deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode observasi. Peneliti mengamati secara langsung iklan-iklan media luar ruang di DIY. Observasi menerapkan teknik simak dan rekam visual. Metode dan teknik analisis yang digunakan untuk menjawab permasalahan ialah metode agih dengan teknik sisip dan balik. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa wacana iklan boga menghasilkan empat jenis slot. Slot nama dapat berbentuk (1) akronim, (2) singkatan, (2) nama diri, dan (4) nama lokasi. Slot spesifikasi dapat bersifat menyangatkan atau mengedepankan kekhasan daerah. Slot atribusi menyiratkan bentuk slogan. Slot alamat berisi keterangan alamat rumah dan nomor telepon. Aspek permainan bahasa berkenaan dengan penyimpangan ejaan, yaitu pemakaian huruf kapital dan penulisan kata.This study discusses about food service advertisement discourse on outdoor media. Advertisement is one of effective facility in delivering information. The advertisement is interesting to study for its particularity in language use. The study aims to describe discourse plots on food service and strategy to form plot or plot insert on advertisement of food service on outdoor media. This study uses structural and qualitative descriptive approach. This study uses observation mode by observing directly to outdoor advertisement media in DIY. The observation uses listening and visual recording. Method and analysis technique to answer the problem is distributional using inserting and reversing technique. The result shows that food service discourse produces four types of slots as (1) acronym, (2) abbreviation, (3) self name, and (4) location name. Specification slot emphasizes locality particularity. Atritributive slot shows slogan form. Address slot contains description of house address and telephone number. Language playing aspect is dealing with spelling split, that is alphabetical use and word writing.

Education is basically an attempt to develop the potential of students and the demands of environmental conditions to have life skills. So that researchers interested in lifting the title "Implementation of Life Skills Education in Learning PAI At SMP Diponegoro. The formulation of the problem and the goal that researchers take is to answer questions and to find out how the implementation of life skills education in learning PAI, how the factors supporting and life skills and how to overcome the inhibiting factors of life skills in learning PAI in SMP Diponegoro Moropelang Babat Lamongan. To find out the problems and get the data clearly, here the researchers used a qualitative descriptive approach. The technique of collecting data and information is done through observation of events and circumstances relating to the implementation of life skills education in learning PAI, Interview principals, teachers PAI, teacher coaches life skills and learners and documentary archive of documentation that an official of the SMP Diponegoro Moropelang Babat Lamongan.
