The solution of problems in production is mainly tackled by the management based on the hardware component, i.e. by the introduction of work centres of recent generation. In this way, it ensures the continuity of quality reduced consumption of energy, humanization of work, etc. However, the interaction between technical-technological and organizational-economic aspects of production is neglected. This means that the new-generation equipment requires a modern approach to planning, organization, and management of production, as well as to economy of production. Consequently it is very important to ensure the implementation of modern organizational methods in wood processing. This paper deals with the problem of implementation of SMED method (SMED - Single Digit Minute Exchange of Die) in the aim of rationalization of set-up-end-up operations. It is known that in the conditions of discontinuous production, set-up-end-up time is a significant limiting factor in the increase of flexibility of production systems.

The absence of precise information on the magnitudes that determine the behavior of the production system generates the disturbances of the system. The consequence is the low efficacy of the system and the high costs. Therefore, it is necessary to create the base for the prediction of individual magnitudes and thus enable the simulation of the production system behavior in real conditions. The information on time norms has a special significance. It is the base of planning the terms and of defining a part of direct costs. Modern approach in the identification of standard times should be established on new foundations. It should appreciate the specificities of the present moment, as well as the future tendencies in wood processing. They are the production system dynamistic, conditioned predominantly by discontinuous production, as well as by the necessity of cooperation of the production systems. In this study, the approach to the identification of standard times is original, supporting the modern tendencies in wood processing and it has an applicative character.

Abstract Purpose of Review The world-wide demand for agricultural products is rapidly growing. However, despite the growing population, labor shortage becomes a limiting factor for agricultural production. Further automation of agriculture is an important solution to tackle these challenges. Recent Findings Selective harvesting of high-value crops, such as apples, tomatoes, and broccoli, is currently mainly performed by humans, rendering it one of the most labor-intensive and expensive agricultural tasks. This explains the large interest in the development of selective harvesting robots. Selective harvesting, however, is a challenging task for a robot, due to the high levels of variation and incomplete information, as well as safety. Summary This review paper provides an overview of the state of the art in selective harvesting robotics in three different production systems; greenhouse, orchard, and open field. The limitations of current systems are discussed, and future research directions are proposed.

Abstract Swine producers in the U.S. face a significant challenge. On top of the ever-changing market dynamics that lead to wide swings in profitability or loss, is an underlying issue of pig mortality that the industry must address. While significant improvements in total piglets born per litter have been achieved over the last 10 years, pig mortality has seen no improvement or has worsened (Figure 1). When expressed as a percentage of piglets born (excluding mummies), a total of 7.9% were recorded as stillborn and 13.4% died prior to weaning in 2019. Assuming a typical mortality range of 7–10% from weaning to harvest, a typical U.S. producer could expect to lose around 27–30% of all piglets born. In addition, the average producer had around 12% annual sow mortality (Figure 1). Litter size and post-weaning growth rate and feed efficiency will always factor heavily into research priorities due to the economic impact associated with those traits; however, the opportunity to drive value through reduction in pig losses across the production cycle is staggering. In defense of the industry, improving pig survival is not an easy task for a number of reasons. The sample size (i.e., number of pigs) required to do mortality research correctly is often a limiting factor for many production systems. Furthermore, a cross-functional approach is likely required to make significant improvements in mortality. Specifically, the relationship between genetics, health, and management practices warrant consideration. Recent collaboration across the industry to improve mortality is a positive step forward and this collaboration should continue moving forward.

Viral diseases are an important limiting factor in many crop production systems. Because antiviral products are not available, control strategies rely on genetic resistance or hygienic measures to prevent viral diseases, or on eradication of diseased crops to control such diseases. Increasing international travel and trade of plant materials enhances the risk of introducing new viruses and their vectors into production systems. In addition, changing climate conditions can contribute to a successful spread of newly introduced viruses or their vectors and establishment of these organisms in areas that were previously unfavorable. Tomato is economically the most important vegetable crop worldwide and many viruses infecting tomato have been described, while new viral diseases keep emerging. Pepino mosaic virus is a rapidly emerging virus which has established itself as one of the most important viral diseases in tomato production worldwide over recent years. Begomovirus species and other whitefly-transmitted viruses are invading into new areas, and several recently described new viruses such as Tomato torrado virus and new Tospovirus species are rapidly spreading over large geographic areas. In this article, emerging viruses of tomato crops are discussed.

Identifying problems and challenges of spatial development of regions, studying the specifics of the organization of regional economic activity and current trends in the system-forming sectors of the region, organizing and optimizing them is one of the most important aspects of economic development, which has both scientific and practical significance throughout the country. The dynamics of development of the agricultural sector of the Stavropol territory indicates the existence of negative economic trends. A limiting factor in the development of the agricultural sector of the Stavropol territory is the low availability of production forces with material and technical resources, outdated material and technical base, which determines the intensity of the production process, labor productivity and competitiveness. In view of these circumstances, we conducted research aimed at identifying the specifics of the organization of the logistics system, agricultural complexes of the Stavropol territory and its problem areas. The theoretical provisions and conclusions of the study allow us to expand and systematize knowledge in the field of organization and management of the supply business process. The practical significance lies in the possibility of introducing into the production process a method of managing the logistics system, which allows to increase the efficiency of the agricultural sector in the region.

Abstract The radius of investigation (ROI) of pressure transient analyses has been traditionally assessed using analytical formulations with basic reservoir parameters for homogenous systems. Numerous studies aimed to improve ROI formulations to incorporate all reservoir and testing parameters such as gauge resolution and rate for more accurate ROI assessments. However, new generation wireline formation testers aim to improve deep transient tests with significant developments in gauge resolution and increasing rate. Challenges still remain in heterogeneous formations such as shaly sands and carbonate reservoirs. In this study, detailed conceptual high-resolution numerical models are set up, including comprehensive reservoir and measurement parameters, to investigate more realistic ROI assessments in layered heterogeneous systems without and with hydraulic communication. Several conceptual examples are presented in layered systems with permeability contrasts. In addition, deviation from infinite-acting radial flow (IAFR) and pressure propagation in highly heterogeneous layered systems are investigated to detect the presence of geological features, including closed boundary systems and the presence of a fault in the proximity of wellbore.

An algal high rate oxidation ponding process for treating organic s present in saline effluents has been described. The extreme halophile Dunaliella salina can be made to predominate in the system by manipulating salinity, producing products of value together with a waste treatment function. Application in treating tannery saline organic wastes was examined. Techniques appropriate for the harvesting of micro-algae from this and other algal production systems presents a limiting factor in the development of algal biotechnology. Cross-flow filtration was evaluated as a technique for micro-algal cell separation. Both microfiltration and ultrafiltration were found to produce effective algal removal from the medium, Cross-flow ultrafiltration with a polyethersulfone coated tubular filter produced effective separation with the production of cell concentrates in a viable condition. Flux rates of 30 - 40 LMH fall within acceptable levels for application in industrial processes. Cell shattering observed with microfiltration precludes its use for recovering whole or viable cell concentrates.

Objective: This research was aimed to assess the awareness and attitude regarding implant-retained prosthesis as the most advanced option for tooth replacement amongst residents of Karachi visiting tertiary care centre. Methodology: This cross-sectional survey was conducted in the department of Prosthodontics at Bahria University Dental Hospital, Karachi. Undertaking the demographic characteristics of patients, the objective was to determine the awareness and attitude toward implant supported prosthesis. Results: Amongst 380 responses retrieved, 9.8% of respondents were aware about the dental implant treatment. While correlating awareness with demographics features, awareness statistically increased with educational level (p= 0.00) and occupational category(p=0.01) of the participants. The friends and relative s(40.5%) were the main source of information regarding dental implant treatment modality. 54.1% were unwilling to undergo treatment with dental implant whereas high cost (55.2%)was the major limiting factor for implant treatment. 64.9% demanded dental insurance for getting the treatment. 45.9% had no knowledge regarding maintenance of implant supported prosthesis .73.0% had no idea regarding longevity of dental implant where as 86.5% were unaware of it’s impact on systemic health. Conclusion: The overall awareness regarding implant supported prosthesis was found to be minimal. This underlines the need of efforts and measures that should be made to raise the awareness and thus alter attitude towards dental implant therapy. Expensive rates (55.2%) was found to be the major limiting factor that should be relieved in the form of health insurance policies, especially in the developing countries like ours.

This paper provides a new generation of a markup language by introducing the Freestyle Markup Language (FML). Demands placed on the language are elaborated, considering current standards and discussions. Conception, a grammatical definition, a corresponding object graph and the bi-directional unambiguous transformation between these two congruent representation forms are set up. The result of this paper is a fundamental definition of a completely new markup language, consolidating many deficiency-discourses and experiences into one particular implementation concept, encouraging the evolution of markup.
